I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My hp pavilion x360 that I bought not to long ago is not working. The screen won't turn on, and the caps light is blinking within every 3 seconds. It won't turn on at all without the power cord. I already looked through the forums and yet there hasn't been a solid answer to this problem. I haven't done anything to this laptop to make it cause such problems, and it's quite annoying that I can't find a way to fix it despite searching the forums and internet. I read a lot about the hard reset but couldn't find how to do it on the pavilion x360.

A:Hp pavilion x360 model 11-n010dx HELP!

I am having the exact same issue with the same laptop.  Here are some more details to assist with any troubleshooting suggestions.

OS: Win8
Light is on where the power cord connects and the light comes on when I hit the power button, but the HD running light does NOT come on and nothing displayed on LCD screen. The hard reset instructions for a laptop with a sealed battery did not include this model and none of the options given work.

I've tried repeatedly hitting CTRL/ALT/DELETE to no avail. Tried different function key options (F10 repeatedly and then F1 repeatedly, or ESC repeatedly - all immediately after hitting the power on.)

This PC is only about 4 months old and I suspect it's just BIOS issue or software issue, but according to the website here my caps lock light flashing code says CPU is bad. (Caps lock flashese once for a two count and then goes out for a five count and repeate).  I'm sure it's something easily fixed and I'd prefer to do it myself quickly, but I do think it's stlll under warranty and maybe that is the route I'll need to take

Thanks,
John P.

Hi,  I am having a weird battery issue on my HP laptop. The laptop is about 3 years old and wasn't used that often. The battery has been fine up until I took the laptop apart to replace the RAM. I used a static strap and didn't do anything that would of affected the battery but I don't know. I think this happened just because I unplugged the battery when I was working on the computer. Anyway, now I get an error code:    This is what the ERROR CODE says if you can't read that:   HP Battery Alert The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance this battery may need to be replaced.  Primary (Internal) Battery (601) Enter - Continue Startup For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup So this is basically saying my battery is going bad, BUT I don't believe that. One reason is that I checked the health of the battery in multiple ways. One way is through the UEFI Battery check which I checked the battery and the power supply multiple times and they all came back as PASSED with no problems. I've also used the battery check command in command line (cant remember it right this second) but that also came back with no issues. ALSO I ran the test on HP support assistant and that as well came back with no issues.  The problem is this. My laptop will be completely dead so I'll hook it up to the AC power suppl... Read more

Hello. I recently bought Pavilion x360 11, and on pretty much every review site etc. there was written that the full charge should last for approx. 6 hs of browsing internet. I tested it twice just browsing internet, and not even that much because at the same time i was playing on my PC. Both tests ended up in laptop hibernating after 4-4.5hs. I must say that is rather low battery lifetime, specially for me as I bought it for outside use mostly. Can it be defective battery or maybe upgrade to win 10 would work it out for me ? (asking about win 10 because I've read couple general opinions about how it extended their battery lifetime from i.e. 6.5h to 9h ) Any help would be very appreciated, as I have to make a decision if i want to replace the laptop at store or not. Thanks in advance.

I bought this laptop, new, yesterday.  It charged all night.  The specs say it has a battery life of 11.75 hours.  That is the sole reason I decided to go with this laptop over one with better RAM.  I just turned it on 30 minutes ago and it is 100% charged yet it only has a battery life of 5hr, 26 min.  After 30 minutes of light use, it is 85% charged with 4hr, 3min left.  Is there anything I can do to fix this issue short of returning the computer?

4.5 hours is actually very good. The 9 hours is based on some conditions not likely to be duplicated in the the real world. The best thing you can do to make the battery last longer (runtime) is to turn down the screen brightness and turn off bluetooth and wifi if you are not using them.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01297640

Hi everyone, So, yesterday I started up my computer and the fan was running unusually high and then shut off immediately.  I plugged my charger into my notebook and then started it up only to find the Primary (internal) Battery (601) message popping up.  This laptop is just over a year old so I searched up on HP forums and found the fix where you uninstall the 'ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery', turn off your laptop, unplug the charger and charge it into a wall outlet, and then starting up your computer.  I repeated that process twice and then my battery worked again.  I ran a diagnostic test and it showed that my battery was still at 90% capacity.  All seemed well so I went to sleep, only to find that the same problem occured when I woke up and tried to turn on my computer - wouldn't start, alert message, uninstalled the driver twice and then it finally worked, and my battery is holding its charge now.   Does anyone have any suggestions or input that might be helpful? Thank you.

Hi, I own a Pavilion x360 u028tu. I used to get around 6 hours of battery life with it when I was running Windows 10 1511 (November update). But when I upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Update (build 14393.693), the battery meter only displays 4 hrs and 30 minutes, no matter the settings I change. Also, I know that time is not accurate, and I think this will only last me 2 hours. No more ability to roll back, as it has been more than 10 days. I also did a battery report through CMD, and it tells me that the charge cycle is still at its best performance. I'm trying to figure out what's causing the issue, and how I can fix it. Can anyone help?

I have been having this problem for a while now, on and off for the past few months. Upon startup, my laptop will refuse to use wireless when I know connections are available and will insist on using ethernet, which I do not have access to, nor do I ever use. No matter what I do, I cannot switch from the ethernet setting to the wireless. Even after resetting numerous times, performing a system restore, and altering numerous other settings, nothing seems to work. At this point, I'm desperate, as I need internet access as soon as possible, and can't afford to wait it out as I had been doing previously (after a few days, it would "magically" return back to wireless capability). Please help me however you can! Thanks! Additional hardware information:Version - 1607OS Build - 14393.693Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4030U CPU @ 1.90GHz 1.90 GHz

I am the unhappy owner of a Pavilion x360, prod. no. M9G20EA#UUW. Major issues:About half the times the screen is upside down when I open the PC. Sometimes closing and reopening turns the screen around. Sometimes a restart is needed. The hardware keyboard and touchpad randomly gets de-activated. A complete restart is needed for reactivation. The machine has been in for service. The service company claims that the were no hardware errors, and reverted the OS back to windows 8 - which did not solve the issues. I see in this forum that many has similar problems with this model. I have tried all the suggestions I could find here. Onfortunately it hasn't helped.

A:Pavilion x360 keyboard and screen issues

Just to follow up on this: HP transferred my "case" to the danish support, which contacted me by phone and was actually quite keen on helping me.I was send some drivers for display, chipset and touchpad, with instructions for installing them in a specific sequence.Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.I was then away for other business for a while, and when I came back to use the machine again, there was a display driver update from the HP Support Assistant app. Unfortunately the autoinstallation failed, but I managed to find the same driver on HP's product web-page and download and install it manually from there. I also found a newer version of the chipset driver, which I also installed.Installation of these drivers required a great deal of tinkering, including using a third part utility (supplied by HP) to completely remove the old display driver, several reboots into safe mode, etc.At the time of writing this I have experienced no keyboard issue for some time - hoping that it is gone completely. The issue with the screen being upside down is still there, but to a much lesser degree. Furthermore, the orientation sensor seems more sensitive, so that just jerking the screen back and forth a bit wil make it rotate into correct position. If this will continue to be the situation, I can live with it.But still: all this work to make a product work (almost) as advertised should not be necessary. It should work out of the box or at least with a quick, automated driver update.Wh... Read more

Oooook. I have had my laptop for about a year and decided to give it to my mother after replacing it with a Mac. I thought I'd restore it to factory settings before doing so. I recently purchased my laptop this past April and it has stopped charging.  I thought it was the charger since my guinea pig chewed the mickey mouse cable a bit, so I got a replacement in the mail.  However, replacing the cable did not solve the issue.  The partially chewed cable worked up until the day I installed Windows 10, coincidentally.  I'm just wondering if it's possible that installing Windows 10 could have caused some unkown bug to cause my laptop to stop charging.  I really don't think it's the charger since it is brand new.  Please can anybody help me?  Thank you. P.S. Here is the Service Manual: Manual Hard drive replacement is shown on page 36 of the Manual. Your laptop, by the specs, came with a 500 gig 5400 rpm drive. This model only uses the superslim 7mm hard drives so that is what you need to buy. There are also options for an M.2 solid state drive or a regular-sized SATA solid state drive in lieu of the slower 5400 rpm mechanical drive. In other words, this would be your opportunity to speed it up a bit.  This would be a 7200 rpm mechanical drive of 500 gigs and would be a nice replacement at a low cost: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-7200RPM-Cache-ST500LM021/dp/B00ISKS416/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462017567&sr=8-2&keywords=7mm+laptop+hard+drive Solid state drive which would replace the hard drive: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462017682&sr=1-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I have an HP Pavilion G6, (AMD A6 Vision quad core, AMD Radeon Graphics) running Win7 (64 bit) Home Premium that is giving me a couple issues: 1.  The laptop runs extremely hot.  (I know it has a single fan - so part of the issue).  I've burned myself a couple times when touching the left side where the vent is located.  Always use this with a USB cooling fan pad underneath now!  Is there anything to help cool it down more? 2.  I have my power settings set to maximize battery life.  When using my G6 on battery, it will abruptly shut off ( not giving the low battery warning) when the battery is still charged.  I've had it happen with as much as 78% battery still left and as low as 30% battery still left.  It seems to happen most frequently in the 50-60% range.  I'm only able to use it about 30 minutes unplugged.  I don't think that I have switchable graphics. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?  Cheers!K

A:HP Pavilion G6 Battery Issues & Heat Issues

Hello kja107,

Your laptop is getting to hot and the battery is not holding a charge.

The laptop may be shutting off because the system is getting too hot, not from the battery.

Go to HP .com and update the BIOS. This may help with the heat.

Here is a link to the update. You?ll need your product number.

You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.

Make sure that there is no buildup of dust inside the computer by cleaning the vents with compressed air.

Here is a link to a document that will show you how to reduce heat.

Also here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

I purchased my HP Envy in early July of this year at Best Buy. In 24 hours, the touchpad began to give me grief. It would open the side panel that shows you how many programs are open at the momnt, cause the mouse to jump around when I used it, would not respond to clicking, nd just generally not work. I did everything under the sun that I could think about to the pc. I uninstalled the drivers, uninstalled the entire touchpad, reset my pc to factory settings, to no avail. After reading your post, I understand that the battery on your HP Pavilion 13-a010dx x360 Convertible PC dies if it is not plugged in. You had also mentioned that you received a 601 Battery Error.  I did some research and found some documents for you based on the issue you had described.  HP Battery Alert Appears Before Windows Starts - "If Primary (internal) Battery (601) appears in the alert message, it means the measured storage capacity of the primary (internal) battery is less than 25% of the original storage capacity. The number ?601? denotes the associated error code that is recorded in the system log."Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge - "If your notebook computer battery does not power the notebook or will not hold a charge, troubleshoot the battery to see if it needs to be replaced."Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10) - "To know the condition of your battery, use the steps in this article to test your battery and calibrate it if necessary."Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know the results. Thank you!Have a great day!

Hi, My battery status shows "0% available(plugged in, not charging)" since a few days and without AC power supply, the laptop does not switch on. The white light keeps blinking when I plug in the AC supply (always now). I have tried the famous solution : "Please perform below shown steps to resolve the issue:Step 01. Click on the Start ButtonStep 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device ManagerStep 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the leftStep 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstallStep 05. Please Shutdown the NotebookStep 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power AdapterStep 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 MinuteStep 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power AdapterStep 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon " After this, the problem still exists. ...I went ahead to check my battery status through HP Support Assistant. The battery status says: Unknown  (93)  Any smart ideas to resolve this?

I have had the exact same problem since I went to shut down 2 days ago and it said it needed to update first. So i chose update and shut down from the menu and in the morning the power light was still on but the computer didn't wake up so i powered down from the button and since then i cannot unplug the battery bc it immediately shuts down, i get the 601 battery error code on start up and the battery test from hp assistant doesn't finish (i get an error message and it ends). I followed each of the 3 links above and have had no luck bc when I run the battery check with the F2 command on start-up it just freezes (says press any key to cancel, I do and nothing happens) and never completes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've only have the computer for a year and a half!

Hi @Kayleecan, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!  I see on your HP Pavilion 13-a010dx x360 Convertible and the error Primary (internal) Battery (601) appearing. Try removing the CMOS or RTC battery and replacing it, it could be low and causing the Real Time Clock (RTC)to be incorrect which would cause the Internal battery error or not starting correctly. Here is a document to show you how to replace this. Please let me know.  If you wish to say Thanks for my efforts to help, click the Thumbs up to give me a Kudos.   Thanks.

Today I purchased a brand-new HP Pavilion 15-N214TX notebook. When I got home, I unboxed it, inserted the battery, plugged it into the wall, and powered it on for the very first time. I then saw this message:

HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low.
For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.
Primary (internal) Battery (601)
ENTER - Continue Startup
For more information, please visit: www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup

Windows reports, Plugged in and not charging.

I've removed and re-inserted the battery, gone into the HP Support Assistant application and ran a battery check (only for it to report that it can't find a battery!), and I've ran the pre-boot diagnostics, which also reports that there's no battery inserted. I saw somewhere that you should remove AC power before running the tests. When I pressed the power button while the laptop wasn't plugged into AC, the charging light simply blinked white three times. I could at one point get into the pre-boot diagnostics on battery power, but I still saw the message telling me that no battery was found.

This is a great laptop, it's super fast, software installs quickly, programs open quickly, it shuts down and boots quickly, but this battery issue is a huge letdown. I don't expect this kind of an issue from a brand-new ~$1100 laptop.

Please help!

Perhaps, the manufactures has shipped you faulty battery. Consider placing an RMA order as it's still in warranty.

I recently received the HP Pavilion x360 laptop as a gift. By the second use it was evident that something was wrong with the touchscreen. It will occasionally go berserk and self-activate, in which a poltergeist is seemingly tapping my screen incessantly and opening programs, windows, and files. The touch screen animation of little taps across the screen clicks up and down the left side of my entire screen, causing the most disturbance when it clicks within the Windows 10 start menu, where it clicks open programs, etc. While this is happening, I cannot even control the mousepad, as the cursor is incessantly being dragged back to where the touchscreen is being activated. In the end I always have to force shut-down, and generally I can reuse it for a while (maybe like four hours or so?) before I have to go through the whole cycle again. I have not noticed a pattern yet regarding when it occurs. Sometimes it's write when I start the laptop; sometimes it's after I've been using it for an hour or so. Tactics I have tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling touchscreen driverChecking for updatesRe-Calibrating the touchscreen Eventually just going into Device Manager and disabling the touchscreen altogether. Here's a video of my HP Touchscreen ghost in action:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1R-obFJQJotNG52YzZkcFpKRjQ/view?usp=sharing

Lately when I turn on my laptop it turns on in tablet mode and won't allow me to switch to normal mode as it is not recognising it is in tablet mode. It only allows me to use the touch screen function and I cannot use the mouse or keyboard. I have to shut down and restart the laptop several times before it turns on as normal. This is not happening because I have shut down the laptop in tablet mode as I have never done this. It is extremely inconvenienthe and I would appreciate some help.

TPM support in the BIOS avaialble? How to access the Bios?

A:HP Pavilion x360

Hi EmilLuca, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion x360 and you needing to gain access to the BIOS. I do not recommend messing with the BIOS it could brick your system. If upon startup you click F10 and this should get you to the BIOS. Hope this is helpful. Thanks.

Is it possible to install Windows 7 Home Premium on a HP Pavilion 11 x360 that comes with Win8.1? I've been trying for a couple of weeks and failed. Working from a USB thumb drive, Win 7 will load files, show the first two screens, but when the actual install begins, everything stops for the message: "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing." Of course the 11 x360 has no optical drive and has gotten this far with the USB drive.  I have tried different ISOs and many suggestions from the Windows 7 Forums to no avail. Suggestions anyone?

Hi, guys!
I bought HP Paviion 130 x360 from Future Shop a month ago. At that time, I didn't get any pen or pen drive software. So I'm just wondering if it's their mistake or I should buy one.
If possible, I'd like to use one of these pens: Lapazz tablet ??8060 pen, stylus pen, and a pen for HP tc4400 tablet pc.
Also, I want to use pen pressure for photoshop.

If I have to buy the pen:
1. What pen will fit for my laptop?
2. What pen drive do I need to install?
3. Do I have to buy both of them?  can I download a free software from HP website ?

I really need the pen pressure system.

If I don't need to buy:
1. Can I get a digital pen from Futureshop/Best Buy? (I don't know much about Tablet PC and It was first time to buy a laptop by myself)
2. Unless, Does one of pens on top work on my laptop and to use pen pressure?  I tried to touch the screen with them. Only stylus worked.
3. Can I use Lapazz tablet pen as a digital pen/ a stylus?

A:Pen for HP Pavilion 130 x360

Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse.  If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop.  I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.

Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?

HP Pavilion x360 - 13-u135tu This model says 256 GB M2 SSD.M2 is only small factor. But didnt mention type anywhere. I want to know wether it is sata based ssd (usually used in hybrid 1tb hard disk and 128gb ssd) or nvme based faster type ssd. They are many hybrid models out there with graphic card for this price range. This 256 GB M2 SSD if its sata low speed SSD then Can I just replace it with traditional Sata hard drives. So this type SSD is pretty much useless when compared to other pce nvme based SSD. In technical specifications there isnt mentioned anywhere.I am real worried about this SSD please help me finding out this SSD Type.Planning to Buy this if it is higher end SSD.
