June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows

Q: June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows

Today i did received through Windows Update, two optional updates.

One is for Intel processors.

-Article ID: 3064209 - Last Review: June 16, 2015 - Revision: 1.0
June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows

About this update:
This article describes a microcode update for Intel processors that are running Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
This update improves the reliability of systems that use certain Intel processors. This update also fixes some issues that could cause the operating system to function incorrectly.

Did the Intel Microcode Update Revision number for Ivy bridge was "17" before?

I can't recall properly as now it shows: Microcode Update Revision "1B"...

The other one for language pack: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/kb/3040272/en-us

Preferred Solution: June 2015 microcode update for Intel processors in Windows

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Intel recently acknowledged the existence of serious problems in the Skylake processors and promised a new microcode for processors of this series. Can we be sure that in your BIOS 1.40 from may 31, 2017 for Lenovo notebook P50 was added it is this firmware that resolves this serious problem:https://siliconangle.com/blog/2017/06/25/critical-flaw-intels-skylake-kaby-lake-cpus-can-result-appl...At least in the changelog for version 1.40 BIOS says that was updated microcode. But was this microcode exactly designed to eliminate those same problems?

I was aghast for reinstallations of Windows 8 because of reasons unknown which ran operating system into trouble.
Now I know why this happened, because I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig', which really doesn't exists ('Msconfig' showed 4 processors for Intel Core i3210).
From next start Windows 8 ran into trouble and within a day or two of using this desktop stopped responding, happened for all operating systems where I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig'.
Therefore do not select maximum number of processors from 'Msconfig'.

Hello I recently purchased a HP Pavilion 17-ab004na (ENERGY STAR). Within the HP Support Assisstant there is an update entitled: HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors). The install fails when I try to install it. Thank you Luke

A:HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)

Hi Luke,HP has decided to prevent the HP support assistant from listing and installing BIOS updates automatically to machines (according to latest update in the Inner Circle of this Forum, which I've access to). May be this is on the process of implementation worldwide. Why?You need to update system BIOS only when:- you face a issue with the laptop which can solved by updating BIOS- latest BIOS update gives you more features that is useful for you- latest update is recommended or mandatory to be installed because it provides additional security measuresThis is the latest one listed in your support page:http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/10862170...Support page: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/10862170/model/119...Please read this before updating: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629I suggest you don't proceed with BIOS updating as of now.RegardsVisruth

The first time, the DL completed but the update failed at about 5% on the progress bar. No reason given. The second attempt was exactly the same. I am on the third attempt and, after 45 minutes, I have not even been showed the installation window with the progress bar. OK, so after getting spooked by the "hidden agenda" of a series of recent 7 updates that apparently track your computing habits and install Windows 10 nagware, I uninstalled all the updates on my computer and have decided to start from scratch.

I just got a notice about a series of updates coming in on "Patch Tuesday" (9 June) of this month. I've looked up some of them and they seem to be somewhat important (I hid all the "recommended" ones which were nothing more than Windows 10 crap), but I'm curious to know what exactly do they "patch" or otherwise do, and how do they do it.

In layman's terms.

Microsoft's security bulletins are too technical for my understanding and I want to make sure I'm not installing adware, nagware, spyware -- or upgradeware.

The updates are:
KB3058515, Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (and which has apparently had some problems)
KB3033890, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (apparently something to do with Windows Media Player)
KB3057839, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
KB3059317, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
KB3063858, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
The last one is just MRT (KB890830) which I know to be safe.

For the first two, do I need to install them if I never use IE or WMP? I actually have them "turned off" (inaccessible) in Programs & Features. Should ... Read more

Intel? 3rd Generation Core Processors and Windows 8: Better Together

Posted by Bruno Domingues in Intel vPro Expert Center Blog on Jun 19, 2012 9:47:18 AM Intel produced the latest ?tick? (or die shrink) on our ?tick-tock? release schedule with the Intel? 3rdGeneration Core Processors. Code named ?Ivy Bridge,? this next generation brought us to a 22nm manufacturing process. Newer processors perform as well or better than previous models, with lower power requirements and better cooling. In addition to the thermal and performance improvements, our Intel 3rd Generation Core Processors brings an updated version of integrated Intel HD Graphics that is compatible with DirectX 11, improving intensive 3D experience and allowing the user to view 1080p HD video smoothly.

This is what I had in mind as I've seen the release of 3rd Gen Core and few months or a year from now they will release Windows 8. Now brand companies need to work on touch screen monitors/laptops to tie up the functions of the new OS.

A:Urgent - Windows 7 Update Service Update June 19 2012

I called Microsoft just now.
They established a remote session directly to my PC.
After verification that my OS is legit etc. they had a look at this.

They recommend that I reinstall Windows from one of their ISO images
and not from the HP recovery partition.

The guy said he wouldn't trust that update as there is the information link

I only can do what he says, downloading that 3 GB ISO and burn the DVD
and reinstall Windows.

So, if you get the SAME looking update, my advise is as his.
Don't install that update.

I did a restart, logged in and screen remained blank. I tried to restart several times and had the same problem. Finally I did a system restore and booted okay. I then deleted all files and folders in Windows/SoftwareDistribution and changed the windows update setting to not check for updates because I didn't want the update to apply after any restarts. How should I go about fixing the problem so I can get and install updates. Any help would be appreciated and sorry for being long-winded.

A:June Windows 8.1 update caused desktop not to display

I have the exact same problem after installing the updates. I noticed that explorer.exe didn't start on my computer. If I start it manually it does show up in de task manager but nothing else happens.
Edit: I've added a screenshot of the updates.

Edit2: I have installed all the updates except for KB2969339 on a different windows and I didn't experience any problems. So KB2969339 seems to be the one causing all the trouble. You can rightclick on the update in the update list and click hide to hide it so you never accidentally install it again. However, I don't know anything about computers so I don't know if doing that will cause more problems later on.

A:Windows 10 Update: June 27, 2017—KB4022716 (OS Build 15063.447)

Today isn't Patch Tuesday, but Microsoft still released cumulative updates for all versions of Windows 10. The firm seems to be doing it twice a month now, as the last set of builds arrived on June 13.

As usual, there are no new front-facing features. Instead, all of these updates focus on various fixes.

If you're on the Creators Update, you'll see build 15063.447, or KB4022716. You can download it from the Microsoft Update Catalog here.
This is what got fixed:
Addressed an issue introduced by KB4022725 where Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge printing from a frame may result in 404 not found or blank page printed.
Addressed issue where network printers may fail to install when using the printer vendor?s setup software on machines with less than 4 GB of RAM. These printers will install properly if you install using the Settings app or from Devices and Printers in Control Panel.
Addressed issue that causes high memory usage for the Camera app on mobile platforms, which reduces battery life. Any app that uses a media capture element (MCE) or media element (ME) and plays 1080p will consume a lot of power, which will significantly reduce battery life.
Addressed issue where, after updating to the Creators Update, devices that have Receive Segment Coalescing (RSC) enabled have significantly low wireless throughput.
Addressed issue (Error 0x7F) with Windows Forms (WinForms) that causes the system to crash after upgrading to the Creators Update.

Try uninstall the flash player (see if it works after), then updating flash player to v 11.7.700.224 to the latest.

I had been away and when I came back and turned on the computer it had downloaded several new updates. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit running Internet Explorer 9. I have been dealing with this issue trying foolishly by myself to fix it by doing several system restores and uninstalling Internet Explorer 9 .. only to find that 8 does fix the problem but I cannot reinstall 9 anymore so I have to do a restore to get 9 back.

Anyway, Gadgets do not work properly. CPU monitor shows the thing moving but no numbers. Calender Gadget just shows orange or white square.

My AOL cannot look on the web anymore (I only use it for an old email but found that my emails couldn't display properly either.)

And to really seal the deal.. windows help does not display properly either.

Internet Explorer 8 makes everything work again but I like 9 which this update on top of 9 screws my windows user account up. A guest account or a new account do not have these issues.

I am sorry for the long post but I would appreciate any help as I have been staring at this screen for many many hours straight. No old system restore will fix it. No SFC scan, etc.

A:Windows June update - broken gadgets, windows help and more

Hello plastisman and welcome to Seven Forums.

With IE9 installed, do you see those June updates listed in the Windows Update History? If yes, you could try to uninstall them and see if your computer works properly. If it does, reinstall the June updates one or two at a time then use your computer for a while. If everything still works correctly install the next couple of updates. If the machine suddenly stops working you've narrowed down which of the updates might be the problem.

You could also try running a System File Checker scan to see if any files were damaged or corrupted by the June updates. If the scan finds any problems, run it 3-4 times as some file may not be fixed on the first or even second go-around due to dependencies (for example, file C may have to wait for file B to be fixed and file G may have to wait for file C to be fixed.)

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I have several dc7800 (2 SFF & 1 CMT) I would like to update the BIOS & Microcode so I can upgrade the processors to the supported Q9400 CPU's I have sitting here. Can somebody help me on the process to upgrade the BIOS & MicroCode?

A:dc7800 BIOS & MicroCode Update

Hi: Here is all the info you need to update the microcode for your dc7800's. Files are the same for the SFF's and CMT's. You have to copy the DOS flash files in the microcode update folder to a bootable usb flash drive, with DOS command files on it. Put the flash drive in the PC, turn it on and the PC should boot to the usb flash drive. At the command prompt, type Flashbin.exe and hit the enter key. Follow the on screen instructions to update the microcode. I zipped up and attached the utility to make a bootable flash drive below, the DOS command files you need, as well as the dc7800 microcode update files. You make the bootable flash drive first by running sp27608. After the utility has formatted the drive and made it bootable, copy the dos files to it, then copy the Microcode update files to it. Copy just the files in the folders, not the folders. After you update the microcodes, I will give you the instructions to update the BIOS.  I don't want to confuse the attached microcode files with the BIOS files. So, you can let me know when you have completed that process. Updating the BIOS will be easier.

Hi, the changelog of the BIOS 1.29 states that it contains an update of the CPU microcode.Afetr I upgraded successfully to that new BIOS, I've been surprised to notice that the microcode wasn't updated.Booting on lunix, I can see that the CPU is still running the old revision 0x24 of the microcode: [ 3.081408] microcode: sig=0x306d4, pf=0x40, revision=0x24
[ 3.081446] microcode: Microcode Update Driver: v2.2. I expected to find the revision 0x25 which was released by intel several months ago (see: http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/non-free/i/intel-microcode/intel-microcode_3.201705...) By comparing the line below extracted from that link to the boot message I reported above, you can verify the CPU signature and the processor flag mask associated to that microcode update perfectly match my CPU. sig 0x000306d4, pf_mask 0xc0, 2017-01-27, rev 0x0025, size 17408 So I wonder why that micocode update was not included in the BIOS 1.29.Is it a mistake ? or did Lenovo have a good reason to omit it ?

This is just interesting I don't have an issue. I installed 1 Recommended and 5 important updates this morning. Nothing that looks like win 10 upgrade.
My upgrade to windows 10 notification square has disappeared. in customize it states the notification is not active?
I check and I'm still on 8.1 Pro WMC.
This unit is Asus G75VW originally win 7 HP, Clean Installed 8.1. I do expect to have some issues when I do upgrade this one to Win 10 Pro It was fussy about Blue tooth and WiFi drivers when I upgraded from 7 to 8.1.

Edit: Ok my other desktops with new Z97 MB and 8.1 Pro, also the get win 10 notification is now not active.
I guess that this is how we will know when our upgrade download is ready to install. As the notification Icon will come back.
Anyone else see this same thing?

HP laptops/AMD processors/Windows Update freezes at 12%

Yesterday at work we ran into issues with 2 HP laptops freezing at 12% when doing Windows Updates.

A search of the web suggested that it may have been due to several things.
We found a workaround that seems to work for us:

- a clean boot (using msconfig we stop all non-Microsoft services from starting - and we disable all startups in Task Manager)
- Uninstall (and remove the driver software) for all video and audio devices in Device Manager

On both systems this has resulted in the systems being able to install the updates.
I'll be doing more research today to see if we can find out exactly what's at fault.

I'm trying to get my boss to let me have another one of the G6 systems to experiment with - but we're also having update issues with some Lenovo AIO/Touchscreen systems.

Hi everybody :

I was looking at an Intel i5-4570 Processor on newegg.com. And, apparently, this model is sold without a heatsink / fan. ( newegg DID post an informational screen stating that a newer version of this model is available----the i5-4590 WITH a heatsink / fan. Question : In a scenario like this, without a heatsink / fan, what size would the heatsink / fan be ? Just for the sake of information (for later). And, I realize that WITH a heatsink /fan included, it makes installation that much easier.

thanks in advance,

Can anyone recommend a 64-bit server that supports hardware virtualization?

Can't seem to find anything with the AMD-V or Intel-VT processors on Ebay. I found ONE Intel server on Ebay but would like to look at a few more options. What I want to do is set up a small intranet like environment for testing/development purposes using Ubuntu Server and the XEN hypervisor and set up like 5 or 6 VM's. Maybe mess around a little with Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud.

In additional to which server I should buy, does anyone have any other suggestions so far as hardware requirements?

A:AMD-V and Intel-VT processors

Most of the Intel Xeon processors would be suitable for this:

Most (if not all) Opterons from AMD would support virtualization as well.

If you don't need a server CPU, there are plenty of desktop CPU's that support this technology as well.
