I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thank GOD for this website!

I don't come here often but when I
am at my wit's end (like this past two weeks) I finally end up here.
God bless all of you here who are so willing to help.

My problem may be a little different as our city offers free Wifi to its residents. In various locations (like mine) I needed to purchase a Pepwave surf-mini to strengthen the signal and it did up until last week or so.

It shows I have a strong signal.

What I'm getting now is the spinning Windows circle which turns backwards many times (in gray) before turning green and changing to the right direction.

Most times I'm getting timed out or no connection. It's making me NUTS!

I copied and did your instructions above and hope you might be able to help me.

Most sincerely,

PS My ethernet is plugged in to the computer, all lights on in Pepwave and I'm running Firefox- just updated to newest non-Beta this morning thinking maybe there was something in it screwing things up.

I have 2 Dell Laptops (new) sent down from corporate and I am frustrated trying to figure this out. These two laptops (and only these two laptops) seem to have an issue getting to certain websites. Anything that contains "msn" and several other sites can be pinged but will not come up in a browser. I have tried IE as well as Mozilla. The same sites can be reached from any one of the of other 200+ computers on my network but not these two. These two can reach most sites but several it cannot. Like I said, I can ping however. I also tried using the IP address in the browser rather than the name but still nothing. I have turned off all firewalls and anti virus and have tried several other ideas I found on google but nothing seems to work. Any ideas what the heck is causing this?

Hi guys,

I try to acceess a particular forum and i can access it.
I received and error message flushed very fast at the bottom oline of internet explorer "waiting for Res://ieframe.dll/dnserrot.htm"
I have this problem only with that particular site.

Rest goes fine, I can web browse everywhere., By the way I run VISTA bussiness and have vista firewall of (only routers firewall in on).

I suspect that a moderator plays games with me.
Once I asked the people of that site and I was told that the firewall was cutting me. off.
I was also tald that my web browser was set in such a way that was creating many network connection giving the imprersion of an attach.

First of all i want to ask what are those setting that make my browser behave as attaching a site.
I only open some pages let say of that site in different tabs.

Whene visiting a site like for example bleepingcomputer.com can you guys see information about my hardware for example my NICs mac address ....
If yes is there any way with Vistas tools to change that NIC addr?

Is there any methodology to prove to myself that the sites firewall is blocking me?

A:Can Not Access One Site While I Can Browse All Web

Try pinging the website by name from a command prompt
Start -> Run -> cmd -> Enter
Type the following command in the DOS window ping xxx.xxxxxxx.xxxx where the x's represent the website address if you are getting no response or a request timed out error then type this command in the DOS window ipconfig /flushdns
After running these two commands try to access the website again.

I use DELL INSPIRON 1545 laptop with BSNL broadband internet connection. I use ORIGINAL Kaspersky Internet security 2010. There are no virus symptoms in my laptop. Still I am unable to browse the site http://www.123greetings.com/

When I type the site and press enter, it just stays idle both in Firefox and IE 6.0 SP3. The same site is working normally in my DESKTOP PC. I have even added firewall exception rule for the above site, still no use. All other sites are loading normally.

I use Windows XP (original) SP3.

Is there any solution to it?. Please reply.

A:Unable to browse a particular site

Empty the browser's cache and retry, or press ctrl + F5 to reload the page without the cache.

With firefox 3.5.7 I can't access http://www.123greetings.com/ either, it reports a "content encoding error", but I can access its subsites : http://www.123greetings.com/birthday/. The problem looks to be with the website, but it's weird that you can access it on your desktop computer.

What versions of IE and firefox do you use ? Are they the same on both computers ? What versions of flash and java ?

The content encoding error message is a known bug for Firefox 3 :
Can't say about IE though. Seems it's a problem with websites hosted on apache servers and gzip encoding.

I have some pretty big events coming up in my personal life coming up over the next twelve months and want to set up a web site for about that duration to keep family and friends up to date with all that's going on with me.

I know a blog sounds ideal but I really need more of a traditional website for this. Thus, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions where I may find a good site to host me.

I want something that's free, or cheap, with a nice short concise URL for my site, (custom if possible), and that has no ads/banners on the site that my visitors have to see. Can be pretty bare bones (don't need any HTML editors built in) but needs to be relatively reliable.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Thank you both for your input. Since I'm located in the US looks like I'm going to go with the latter suggestion. Seems like a wonderful outfit; exactly what I'm looking for.

Welcome to BC!Please print out and follow these instructions: "How to use SDFix". When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"Disconnect from the Internet and temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any real time protection programs before performing a scan. When done, the SDFix report log will open in notepad and automatically be saved in the SDFix folder as Report.txt.If SDFix is unable to run after rebooting from Safe Mode, run SDFix in either Mode, and type F, then press Enter for it to finish the final stage and produce the report. Please copy and paste the contents of Report.txt in your next reply.Be sure to renable you anti-virus and and other security programs before connecting to the Internet.-- If the computer has been infected with the VirusAlert! malware warning from the clock and the Start Menu icons or drives are not visible, open the SDFix folder, right-click on either the XP_VirusAlert_Repair.inf or W2K VirusAlert_Repair.inf (depending on your version of Windows) and select Install from the Context menu. it is very strange and i have no idea about this. hope i can get some help.

the last month i noticed that i can only sites hosted in USA. but if i visit an international site, such as sohu.com (which is hosted in china), i am not able to. sometimes after i rebot the modem/router, i can get the sohu.com site to show up but after awhile, it again is not accessable.

I am using comcast cable connection with RCA modem and linksys's WRT54GX4 wireless router. this was working before and the problem occured only the last month. further test shows if i connect to modem directly, i can see international sites. so it must be due to connecting via the router. i initially thought it was the router issue, but after replacing with a new one, the issue still exists.

thanks for any pointers on this issue.

The problem is definitely involving this USB device driver, so you should update it from the manufacturer's website. If there is no update, you can't use the modem with Windows 8 and remain stable. You'll have to find some new hardware instead.

Hello, i am in need of some help. Ive been trying to fix this all day long and im getting frustrated.

I recently had a new internet connection setup this morning. It was working fine up until 4-5 hours ago, now i cannot browse websites. I can ping yahoo.ca and other domain names and get responses. Im writing this on my iphone connected over wifi, so the problem is strictly with my pc. Pc is connected by wire and it is running win 7.

I cannot access my routers firmware by my pc(but i can on my iphone). Ive tried reinstalling network card drivers, disabling ipv6, inputting googles public dns servers on my adapter settings as well as several command prompt lines that i found by googling. (flushdns and netsh reset ...). Ive tried google chrome and ie. For what its worth, i was able to download and install a windows update.

I would reay appreciate any help.

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again... Read more

I am able to connect to the router but will not get an internet connection. my technical skills are very limited and could use some help.

A:Linksys connction problem

when you connect to a wireless source there are 2 things that are needed.

1) the correct SSID (this is the name of the router wireless network)
2) the correct security information, this is called a WEP or WPA key, and is found in the router setup and will have been set by the owner of the router.

The SSID is usually broadcast by the router and it is what you see when you view available networks.

The WPA/WEP key must be inputted into the box that comes up when you click on the connect button in the view wireless networks screen, it must be case correct, that is "A" is not the same as "a" etc.

It is also possible that the router is an ADSL type and that the internet connection is not active, this is true in the case of AOL routers where the connection is initiated by the software on the PC when the owner signs into the system.

Other ADSL routers such as Sky are constantly on, but you dont say which or what router or ISP.

i have a internet connection broadband account at my house, i had people to configure it for me from the service provider, it comes down from the satelite to the modem then it goes into a linksys router. this is then connected to my personal desktop and other machines via wireless connection.

i then had a radio link connected to my house which links my office about a kilometre away, so in short these are interconnected via radio link. i then decided to open an internet cafe so from the radio link the connection goes into the server via a nework cable. the machine that acts as aserver has internet connection enabled. now since i need to authenticate wireles clients, for the internet cafe i bought a software called truecafe, for it t to authenticate wireless clients it needs a router so i bought a zyxel router.

now i cannot connect the router for wireless from the internet cafe because it says it needs a dsl cable connected to it, is there a way i cann go round this?

i need this router to act as a dhcp for wireless clients

Don't get me wrong I think TSG is the greatest all around site yet. However I found a xp forum that I think has a lot of good info for Wxp users.
http://www.xpforum.co.uk/ It requires registration, uid and password. I think those of you that use Wxp will find it informative and helpfull. When you arrive at the first page click on xpforum {left of contact us} and take a look
Hope it's ok to recommend another forum/source?

to help better understand what Windows Event Codes mean? I saw one a while back where people commented via a thread about what the code displayed, and possibly what they did to fix the problem, but I can't find the site anymore.

I was getting a Disk Image of a Windows 2000 server yesterday, and sending the disk image file to my C: drive via a mapped drive, and when I came in this morning, I had this pop up on the screen. This is the message in the event viewer on my machine as well.

Symantec Live State Recovery on the server said that the image backup was successful. Now I'm not sure if I truely got a good image or not.

Event Code: 26
Application popup: mmc.exe - Corrupt File : The file or directory C: is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

I stumbled upon a really good PSP 8 tutorial site that has a lot of different ideas about making graphics with layers and using what PSP 8 already has to offer without having to have a bunch of plugins or downloading a lot of textures.

Here's the link http://www.nansons-place.com/psp/graphics.htm I suggest that if you are either a beginner, veteran *like me*, or pro that you check out this site. It's got a lot of cool stuff and it's easily the most understandable tut site I've found.

Oh, by the way, using one of the tutorials on the site, I was able to create this

Image Shack hasn't been responding to everyone, so if you can't see the posted pic, then just follow the link below and you should be able to see it that way.

Can you give me your opinion on a few good web hosting sites? I was looking at going with Value Web (thru Networksolutions.com website) for my husband's small business. His site was on that server when the domain name was registered with someone else. I'm in the process of getting the domain name registered in my husband's name. The transfer is taking place within Networksolutions, as there is no fee then.

household/domesticate cat that is.

does anyone know of good site? right now, i have a cat throwing up and withdrawn acting. another cat has a scratch of some sort going on a week.

yes, cat doctors are as expensive as human doctors so a good on-line cat site would be very valuable. i have found some sites but they seem to be somewhat inadequate.

I want to mirror a bunch of old sites. The program I'm currently using, WinHTTrack, always has errors in its mirror and has no way to correct them. But that's the best free program I've been able to find. Can someone recommend one that works similar to WinHTTrack but without the errors and preferably the ability to mirror archive.org sites?

I'm completely new to Torrents. I downloaded BitComet, but I can never seem to find anything on Torrent sites such as movies that I can just dl and play, without having to spend half a day looking for the right codec. Is there a codec package that I can just dl all of them at once? A good Torrent site that's easy to use and well organized?

A:What's a good Torrent site?

We do not discuss such topics here. As far as TechSpot is concerned the best place to get movies is NetFlix or some other sort of legal service.

A site I visit occasionally - Sport Lemon - From Bar - From Sport - Watch Live Sports Online - FromSport - recently changed names and since then the home page shows but all of the links return a "404 - Not Found" error. Tried with four browsers - Opera (2), IE9, Waterfox 16 - with caches cleared. Works fine at public library and ISP says it's ok for them. Firewall is Comodo and Java is disabled, tho it doesn't seem the site's using it. Win 7x64. Any suggestions about what might be going on? Thanks,

You might try clearing your dns cache

Open an advanced command prompt

Start> In search box type cmd> In results above right click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator> When command prompt opens type

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

See if that helps. A Guy

This site is missing forums for advanced questions, like CMD commands. I used google and the best I found was here. I wanted to know my local groups: it had gpresult but not whoami. Even bootsect was missing.

I guess the answer is MS Technet or a Win 2008 site, but I'm surprised google came up with a bunch of amateur sites with old commands. I've been using NT for 15 years, hard to keep up unless you are working in IT.

Hi Eric and welcome to W7 Forums

You can always ask your questions here. We're available 24/7, and we cover a wide range of expertise in different fields of Windows. Some of us have more experience in certain fields than others, and sooner or later you should get a reply.

Hey Everyone - I just found this site and thought before I start taking advantage of everyone's knowledge and advice I thought I'd contribute something by posting this thread.

I recently found a helpful Vista (and PC in general, Office 2007 too) resource. Woopid.com - Has a lot of video tutorials which are pretty nice/helpful. I'm no expert but I've been using it to send videos to my parents (it's a lot nicer than walking them through the same thing over and over again.

Anyways, I hope its a helpful recourse for the community. If you go the bundles page and scroll down you'll see a lot of groups of Vista videos as well.
