Q: HP can not pass the reboot

Dear Community, when I try to hardreset my computer it says that it needs to be repaired. How can I fix this problem? I have an HP stream 11 from 2015.

Preferred Solution: HP can not pass the reboot

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Had a short power failure today which obviously shut down my computer. When I turned it back on I can't get pass the windows welcome screen, just keeps scrolling. I am currently in Safe mode with networking. Have tried to do a system restore but did not take care of the issue. Have had power failures before but never encountered this problem when restarting computer.

I'm starting to have withdrawals and also need to do some real work too. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Thank you!

A:Power Failure; Can't Reboot Pass Welcome Screen

If you're networked, unplug all the cables, then boot it up and see what happens. Sometimes you will need to power it off then back on again to get it to load properly. Try this a few times and see what happens.

Also, do you have your computers on a surge protector?..... I hope you say yes..

Hi All,
I tested the following attacks in Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics and found them
not to be working.

Bruteforce Attack Pass-The-Ticket Pass-The-Hash Sensitive account exposed Using Plain-Text Authentication
I have tested other attacks like Reconnaissance
using DNS, Broken Trust, Honey Token account suspicious activities but they are working perfectly fine. I don't know
what's the issue with the above 4.
For
1. Bruteforce Attack:
I used thc-hydra-windows and triggered a dictionary attack using a list of passwords.

2. Pass-The-Ticket:
I used mimikatz to steal the kerberos ticket from a PC on which Admin is logged on. Impersonating an attacker, I copied the .kirbi file and Injected that file(using mimikatz again) to another PC on which a domain user is logged in.

3. Pass-The-Hash:
(Same as above)
4. Sensitive account exposed in plain text authentication:
I used mimikatz command 'sekurlsa :: logonpasswords' and was able to get passwords of all the users who logged on to that PC. But this was also not detected by MATA.

Please help me with the above issues. If possible, provide the tools using which I can trigger and detect those attacks.

now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.

Don't go for a password. Use the PIN option That's just what you need and it's really a great thing as well.

I have recently installed ATA (1.8.6645.28499). It is now in to the second week of its learning phase and it is raising a considerable number of false pass-the-hash alerts when users initiate Citrix sessions from their usual PC using pass-thru authentication,
eg a typical alert would be:
Bloggs,Fred's hash was stolen from one of the computers previously logged into by Bloggs,Fred and used from xx1234
Clearly this is spurious - in each case the user is initiating a Citrix session from their
own PC and the xx1234 represents a Citrix server in the farm in every case.
1) Why am I only receiving a handful of related PTH alerts each day when I have many thousands of Citrix users, all authenticating in the same manner?
2) How can I supress these alerts?
What I effectively want to say is 'IF the suspected PTH is being triggered BY the user on their OWN PC and the target server is in our Citrix farm' then ignore it. I can't see a way of setting an exclusion range like this for PTH events though?
Thanks

Hello everyone! Can you help me with a (hopefully) simple problem?
I have a Access 2003 SQL Pass-thru query that I need to prompt the user for Begin Date and End date, then put these values in the query. I read the Help, but I still don't understand HOW!
Questions: (BTW, this query is being generated from the Switchboard)
1. How do I prompt the user for the dates in Access? I can't use parameters and I don't understand how to use a prompt otyher than that.
2. How do I get those user responses into the query below
3. How do I write the querydef?

The SQL query is attached

Thanks!

I have an odd situation I have been tracking for some time and I think I have it isolated to when it will occur and when it does not. I am posting
it just to see if anyone else has this issue and knows of a fix. My guess is most people just think their PC is stuck and power off and back on to reboot.
The issue was that when my Windows 7 pro laptop applied a Defender update  the laptop took roughly 45 minutes to reboot.
What I found was the issue happens in these situations:

The Defender patch was 400KB or largerA Windows Restart is used to apply the patchIf I applied the patch via a Windows update manually, then issues a Windows RestartIf I allow the patch to apply during a Windows Shutdown, the next power on boot is delayed
It does not happen in this situation:

I apply the patch via Windows Update, then do a shutdown to power off the unit, then power the laptop back
on, there is no issue.
In all instances the patch is applied successfully based on what the Windows update history shows. The patch itself applies very quickly in all situations
To me it seems like a Restart after a Defender update is causing Defender to run a scan before allowing the laptop to boot. The laptop will just
stay on the Starting Windows screen with the 4 colored window for 45 minutes then boot normally. Typically running a Defender scan on the laptop takes about 45 minutes which is why I think the Windows Update\Restart sequence is triggering a scan. Normally

I purchased my HP Compaq 8710p laptop from Purdue University in May of 2008. A little after that it was stolen from me. Thankfully I had it LoJack secured, and they were able to recover it in London. When I got my computer back, however, the Windows XP that it had come pre-installed with was replaced with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I never had an issue with it for two years until now.

It seems like my computer overheats more often then it should, especially if it is on my lap or the fan is covered at all. This may be normal but even more annoying than that is whenever it shuts down from an overheat or it goes in to sleep mode or I ever have to manually shut it down, it gets to the Windows loading screen where the colors come in from the sides, then freezes, flashes the BSOD and then reboots. When I try to run the Repair, it take about half an hour then says Repair couldn't fix the computer.

Anyone have any ideas?

This is quite possibly the strangest error sequence I've come across in all my years working with computers.

My system has issues. Unfortunately. Possibly more than one. But I do know that for about the last month, up until this morning, any attempt to turn on my system would require the user to boot into Windows, wait ~15 seconds for a hard, BSOD-inducing crash (with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT as the cause a majority of the time), wait for the system to reboot and reach the Windows boot animation, suffer yet another hard, BSOD-inducing crash (with no minidump this time, however, since it hadn't fully loaded Windows yet), and then finally reboot once more, after which the system would seem to function perfectly. My one change this morning? I removed one stick of my RAM.

Now, normally this would seem to be pretty cut and dried, but I had similar problems with this setup earlier in the year. I exchanged my RAM twice, then my motherboard, then my RAM again, which is leading me to believe that it might well be a CPU issue (note that my system is not currently being overclocked). But my Windbg skills aren't what they used to be, and I'm currently running on a spotty 3G internet connection, so my options for diagnosis are a tad limited.

Current system specifics:

2x2GB OCZ PC3 12800 (OCZ3OB1600LV4GK) Obsidian Series
Gigabyte P55-UD3L

Hi,
I've got a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with..

I've got a Belkin F5D8231-4 v2 N1 Wireless Router and a D-Link DSL-504G 4 Port Modem which I am trying to setup a VPN Connection through.
I'm using the built in VPN server in Windows XP Professional SP2, I can connect to the VPN internally but not externally - When trying to connect externally the client freezes up on "verifying username and password" but I dont think its even getting as far as connecting to the server.
I've opened up the ports in the firewall, and have forwarded port 1723 on TCP to the servers internal static IP address. The modem itself is running in Bridge mode to the router so I'm assuming that I don't have to open any ports or anything on that for it to work. I have contacted Belkin who assure me that a VPN can be established through that router, and weren't able to offer me much assistance.

what I've got setup is this:
modem (192.168.2.253) ---> Router (192.168.2.254) - - - - (wireless) - -> VPN Server (192.168.2.2)

I haven't actually been able to find anything that suggests that the clients are even getting through the modem and router to the server.. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I am having difficulties to enable VNP pass-through on my DFL-800 router. Iím not very familiar with some of the technical terms such as IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP and what do they actually do. My previous router Linksys RV082 had no problems. There was one option to disable or enable VPN pass-thought and everything was simple. I have setup up a VPN connection on my Windows XP and Vista and off I went. I could connect to my work network by supplying host name www.mycompany.com and my login credentials.

When I replaced my routers and try to connect, Windows connection hangs on Authenticating User Name and Password. And then fails saying that could not connect to a network.
Obviously my router blocks some communications.

Could you please let me know how to set-up this D-Link router as I am running out of ideas.
There is too many settings in this box to play with and Iím not really sure what to touch, how and what not to.

I have tried to play with IpRules Ė trying to create some and enable IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP one at the time but none of those attempts was successful.

Iím a little pissed off at my self at this moment that I have to use my old Linksys because I canít figure out how this new box works.

Please help!!!

Cheers:

hi all, I'm looking for some help with a problem which has been driving me nuts for the last 3 or 4 days.

on my previous windows installation, I found that I could not install or uninstall any software without the OS rebooting part way through, so I thought, it's about time to reinstall anyway, why not !

on reinstalling XP, it turns out that after I've installed one or two programs this starts happening again.

on 2 occassions this has resulted in a blue screen stop and dump message (when I turned off auto-rebooting) which indicated some memory addresses.

I've looked into,

MSI package reinstallation (if someone can help me out on this that'd be great, I could only find info for win9X-win2k)

Viruses - there were 2 possibles, but both turned out not to be resident when using the symantec removal utilities for them.

Hardware - memory and HDD's turned out to be fine according to a couple of different test utils.

chkdsk - turned up no errors

swap file reconstruction - used a utility from tucows to reconstruct the swap file, still no luck, I'll probably try deleting the file outside the OS next and letting it recreate.

removing resident programs & useless startup programs - still happens.

has anyone even heard of this happening before ... I had great difficulty tracking down any information whatsoever.

I'm running windows 7 on my computer. I've got two users setup. One is for the family which when you reboot and/or just start the computer with the on switch it automatically loads this with out any password. But if I want to get into the Administrative side of the computer I have to let the family side load then click on shutdown and then click log off. Then the window will close and the screen will open up with the option to click on Family icon or the Administrative icon. If I click on Admin icon I have to login, all's working well. My question: While adding new programs from the administrative side and then it wants you to reboot, it will automatically load backup on the Family side. Is this OK for installing software, or is there a simple way in this instance to reboot and have it give me the option to load the Administrative side instead of going into Family side? Thanks

A:Trying to reboot in Administrative side with reboot

Hello Rick,

If the program needs to restart the PC, then it's usually only to apply and finish up the installation. It usually doesn't matter what account you log on to afterwards, but it would be best to log back on to the account you installed the program from to make sure.

If you like, you could turn off automatic logging on to an account at startup to be able to select what account you want to sign in to at start up instead. Log On Automatically at Startup
In addition, you could use "Switch User" or "Log Off" instead to log on to another account without shutting down the computer.

Hi,I apologize in advance, for the long winded thread but I just couldn't explain it properly any other way.(computer specs at the bottom)First off, it's not my computer, so I'm going to go with owner's explanation of how problem started.It started a few months ago when computer needed to be restarted as it would freeze during video playback (not sure if it's related but I figured too much information is better than not enough)Then, on restart, computer would lose time and date (dead battery - I changed it)Problem solved ...so I thoughtRecently (a few weeks ago) owner started experiencing the same issues as stated above BUT combined with computer's unwillingness to reboot or even reset by pressing the On/Off or Reset buttons.After repeated pressing the start button it would occasionally restart but would also ask the owner to press F1 to continue or DEL to access BIOS (both Start and Reset buttons and connections are OK).Eventually owner was able to restart computer with no noticeable changes in computer functionality or behavior. (Apart from a few audio/video issue that would be resolved with a standard restart). (No issues on reboot in these cases) Then yesterday things started to get really bad.Owner would notice that computer would reboot repeatedly on its own (computer inactive, display turned off and no antivirus or Disk Defrags scheduled).Eventually it restarted on its own during the night.Then, this morning, I decided to do a few tests.Computer... Sounds to me like a piece of hardware is dying. I would do the following:How to Test your RAMGuide OverviewThe purpose of this guide is to teach you how to check whether your system's RAM (Ramdom Access Memory) is working properly. Bad RAM can lead to a whole host of problems, often which do not appear to have a single cause -- appearing as systemwide glitches, blue screens, and other system trouble. MemTest86+ provides a very good detection mechanism for failed RAM, and is about as good a test you get short of actually replacing the module itself.Tools NeededPlease perform these steps from a separate, working, machine.Download MemTest86+, and unzip it to your desktop.Burn the image file to a CD, as an image file. If you're unsure how to do this, see the How to Burn an ISO File tutorial.Perform these steps on the problem machine.Put your CD in the drive and configure your machine to boot to the CD. This is different on all machines, but it's usually by pressing F12 or F10 as your system boots, and selecting either "CDROM" or your cdrom drive. If you are unable to force a CDRom boot, reply with the make and model of your machine and I should be able to get you exact instructions.If you've done it correctly, MemTest86+ will start to run automaticly, as shown below:
If you want to be reasonably your RAM is OK, then allow MemTest to run until you see this message:
On the other hand, if you want to be completely sure your RAM is OK, allow MemTest to ru... Read more

You are trying to tell us that Windows 7 Pro installs FINE, but after updates gets hosed, then don't do the updates.

Mail setup, what are you talking about? I mean exactly what.... the web addresses, names of the software, etc.

Details details details, and you might was to proofread that post, it is typo ridden and very unclear.

Hello----

I have Windows xp os. I have SpywareBlaster, SpyBot S&D, HJT and Kaspersky Pro. My problems all started when my Kaspersky files became corrupted (???). I was unable to download the newest updates automatically and have been spirialing out of control since. I have 4 separate users on this machine. I can get into Safe Mode and look around, did a compete scan with all my spyware and kaspersky stuff. Nothing major...still wont stay booted up. Is there anything I can do? I am obviously using another computer (at work) to try and resolve.

When it trys to boot it looks like it's looking for the disk (I get the hourglass and disc symbol). When I go to the "blue" screen (by F5) I selected "Hard Drive". That seemed to work and I got into each users profile albeit ever so slowly. I managed to get the latest updates in Kaspersky. As soon as I tried to turn off......reboot loop.

My next step this evening is to run the virus scan in safe mode. Any other suggestions?

thanks

Hi there,Here are the things I would try:1. "Disabling the ?restart on system failure? feature may permit the exact cause to be isolated: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under ?Startup & Recovery,? click Settings. Under ?System Failure,? uncheck the box in front of ?Automatically restart.? "2. Disabling your audio drivers. Could cause problems during system shutdown if Windows exit audio file or audio driver is corrupt.3. If this continues to be a problem, see if shutting down while is safe mode causes the same symptom. If you are able to shutdown properly while in Safe Mode, rung MSCONFIG (from Run Command) and disable all startup items to see if this resolves. If it does, manually re-enable one startup item at a time until you determine which item maybe causing the isse.4. You can read more about your problem here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/h...el_02may13.mspxHope this helps! Good luck.Regards,Bill

I've downloaded Internet Explorer 9, and I liked it, but there are two things I had them on firefox that I want them on IE 9,

1) Spell check: When I type something in a box or anywhere, if I make a spelling mistake it underline me the word and tells me it is incorrect, and gives me some options.
Specki worked, but it doesn't correct every mistake?

2) Reload every: It refreshes a page automitaclly from 0 seconds, you choose the time, I searched I found yrefresher, auto refresher, but they didn't work, any other?

Also in some sites when I type my password in IE 9 it gives a nofication if I want to save my password or no, but in some sites it doesn't?

When I set up our netlink wireless router some time in the dim past, I set it up with 128 WEP Encryption and a pass code phrase. Sometimes when I'm hooking up a computer to the network, I get the option to enter the pass phrase only, other times I have to enter the whole gazillion character wep key. How can I get it to always prompt me for the pass phrase? Soooo much easier!

Thanks.

A:WEP Key vs. Pass Phrase

I recommend against the pass phrase, since many times it won't yield the same key on different brands of equipment.

Hello, I've tried two different usbc dongles that have pass through charging and neither work with my Dell xps 13 9365.  I've done the bios update and all current driver updates.  With only two usbc ports having pass through charging is pretty important.  I currently have the Satechi usbc hub where the hdmi and the usb3 ports work; just not the usbc pass through charging.  Any idea?

Hey everyone...
I have a little problem and i don't know how to fix it. Today, my laptop was infected with a virus called "You Shall Not Pass" or something like that. The thing is that when i try to access a popular webpage like facebook or google, my browser displays me a image (help1.jpg). I remove the virus from the computer using malwarebytes, adwcleaner and avira. I also used Microsoft Fix It, but that did nothing. Even after restarting the laptop in safe mode and deleting the virus from there didn't helped. I also put a photo showing the window that appeared twice. Since i couldn't make a screenshot, i used my camera. The photo is called P1040104.png. I even tried to reinstall google chrome using my computer, but that didn't helped either. I still can't get rid of that annoying image!!!
Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance. If you need more information just tell me.

Vlad64,

A new twist on good ol' ransomware.

Let's use HitmanPro.Kickstart to access your computer, scan it for malware, and remove this infection. The program targets ransomware.

Also, you may want to print these instructions, so they are available to follow.

Now, load a USB flash drive with HitmanPro.Kickstart as follows...
(Note: the contents of the USB flash drive are erased during this process!)

Use a clean (non-infected) computer, and download:
HitmanPro.Kickstart - Anti ransomware, politievirus, bundestrojaner, Reveton, BKA, GVU - SurfRight
Under Download (on the right) select the program applicable to the system: 64-bit?

When HitmanPro opens, click the KickStart icon at the bottom of the screen.

>>Plug in the USB flash drive.

When the USB flash drive is detected, a selection screen is presented.
Select the USB flash drive from the choices, and press: Install Kickstart

A warning that all contents of the selected flash drive will erase is presented.
Press: Yes

As the HitmanPro.Kickstart files are loaded, a progress indicator is shown on the screen.
Once the process is completed a screen is presented with the contents of HitmanPro.Kickstart

Remove the USB flash drive from the clean computer and press: Close

Now, with the ransomed computer shut down, plug the USB flash drive into a USB port, and turn on the power.

When the computer starts, press the key that brings up the Boot Menu. (On some machines its F12, F10, or... Read more

I am new to Java and need to pass user entered data on one JSP to another. Is there simple Java coding to do this?

A:How can I pass data from one JSP to another

In the JSP where you send parameters, you may have a tag for example :

<a href=http://YourServer:8080/YourWebApplication/YourMappingFolder/YourJspGettingParameters?param1=blabla1&param2=blabla2>something</a>Click to expand...
In the JSP where you receive the parameters, you may have this :

public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) throws
ServletException, IOException {
this.doPost(req, resp);
}

public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) throws
ServletException, IOException {
resp.setContentType("text/html");
ServletOutputStream out = resp.getOutputStream();

String param1 = req.getParameter("param1");
String param2 = req.getParameter("param2");
}
Click to expand...
