Facebook issues only on 1 network computer

Q: Facebook issues only on 1 network computer

Hey there
Hoping someone might be able to help me out.

We are running a network, of which 2 pc's and an xbox360 run wired, and 1 pc & 1 laptop run wireless
Suddenly about a month ago, 1 of the wired computers has issues with facebook, the others all seem fine.

He gets a constant loading issue, and it won't load his games, & sometimes not even that main facebook page.

He is able to use my pc (connected to the network via wireless) and log onto his account and play fine, but he is tries on his again he has the same issues. every now & then it will load up 1 or 2 games, then suddenly will carry on with the continual loading.

If we hook the pc directly to the modem it seems to load no problems, but them we have everyone else with no internet.
The PC in question is an Acer Aspire X1430G

Things we have tried:
Reformatted the PC
Taken it to a PC repair shop ($50 wasted on that trip, they could find no issue)
Updated Firmware for the netgear router (WGR614 V9 wirelss G router)
New network cable
Ran malware bytes scan
ran Spybot scan
ran winzip registry optimzier
Called Acer (the pc's makers) - Who told us 1 time it was in the registry & it would cost up $100 for them to remote assistance and fix it, & the 2nd time told us it was a browser based issue (getting a feeling they are just desperate to get us to cough up the money)
Different browsers: Firefox, Chrome, IE, Rockmelt
Been in facebook settings, changed the passwords, privacy settings, app settings etc

I have just ran minitoolbox (ran as adminstrator)
The pc has just been formated, & has just finish installing updates, and has just been rebooted

& i selected the following options (that i saw mentioned on an additional facebook post in this form):

•Flush DNS
•Report IE Proxy Settings
•Reset IE Proxy Settings
•Report FF Proxy Settings
•Reset FF Proxy Settings
•List content of Hosts
•List IP configuration
•List last 10 Event Viewer log
•List Installed Programs
•List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
•List Minidump Files

Here are the results

Preferred Solution: Facebook issues only on 1 network computer

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

What is your subscription speed connection? Have you tried another router since you mentioned hooking on modem would solve the issue?

Hello!

On our home network (a couple computers) we can open any website...but all important Facebook. Does not matter the browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE...). This only started happening about a week ago. We are at a loss regarding what is going on. Additionally, FB will open for a couple minutes on my wife's Mac (but is slow and will not open pictures, etc.) maybe in the morning, but then becomes unavailable again shortly after ("failed to open page" - not responding). We are thinking it has something to do with our network, but not sure how to resolve it.

Thank you for your feedback in advance.

Hey,

Today randomly while i was on facebook updating a new page, it froze and stopped working. now when i try to go to www.facebook.com on any computer (mac included) on chrome it tells me "oops google chrome cannot find www.facebook.com. I have tried the https:// thing checked the host file, tryed connecting directly to my modem with no difference. when i run a ping I get "ping request could not find host www.facebook.com please check the name and try again. I tried flushing the dns. Its driving me nuts that I can't figure it out. Could it be a banned type Ip or something since all my computers are having the same issue? only facebook is not working everything else seems to be fine. Any help would be great thanks!

A:Facebook not working on any computer on network

I have the same issue as you man. Ive been doing some research on this for over an hour and this site has a LOT of different fix's for the same issue. There mostly very basic fix's but maybe one will help you.

However none of them worked for so I will make my own topic since there is a good chance there different.

As far as info related to this issue it seems to be location specific. My friend could log into my account for me and I could log into it as well via a proxy.

Hopefully someone can help us out eh?

How can I control (restrict) access to specific web site(s), e.g., “Facebook”, from my daughter’s computer, an Apple wireless laptop running MAC OSX, preferably from my computer, a Dell running Windows XP for the periods of time when she is to be doing homework? I want to be able to restrict access either by specific action or on a timetable.

Can I do this from my computer?
Do I need to install 3rd party software?

Thank you,

A:Control access to Facebook on network computer

Check the documentation for your wireless modem or router. Some offer variations of parental controls that limit access to certain sites or the Internet in general as well as applying them on different days and different times.

Hi everyone,

A few days ago no computer on my network could load some websites including facebook, hotmail, ebay and yahoo mail. For example, when trying to open hotmail.com the screen would just be white and it would say 'done' down the bottom left corner.

I've tried IE8 and firefox. My girlfriend can log into my hotmail account from her house, but I cant from the main desktop computer, my laptop or my brothers laptop (all on the same network).

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Tom

Hi there

For a start, U might try deleting browsing histories for both browsers. If still no go, pls double check that neither browser is using proxy servers:
For IE: tools>IE options>connections>LAN settings> uncheck : use proxy

For Firefox: tools>options>advanced>network>settings> make sure that no proxy is selected

Failing this, u can do winsock reset for Windows OS

XP: start>run>cmd> netsh winsock reset
Vista and 7: start>all programs>accessories>right click on cmd promt> run as admin
Type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Please update what worked

My parents just bought me a computer for my bedroom to help with my homework. It was a Refurbished HP 500-314 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04293928&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=6888071
Once it was all set up, we booted it and it was already having problems. I got to pick my theme, a couple of other things, and I accepted the service agreement, and it was stuck for roughly ~45 minutes on a screen reading "Next, you'll set up your account". Once that finally went away, it informed me that there were problems creating my account (Maybe because the E-mail I used already had a Microsoft account attached to it). It did, however, allow me to create a local account, which I proceeded to do.

When I was at my desktop, the wireless signal was terrible. We purchased the NETGEAR Powerline 500 WiFi Access Point (XWNB5201). After setting it up, we checked the signal by going to a few sites (Google.com and virustotal.com). I then installed the free version of AVG from free.avg.com. Once the installation was completed, AVG opened and said that I needed to update my definitions. I tried to do that but it said it could not connect to the definitions server. I opened Internet Explorer and I was unable to connect to a few sites (Most notably MSN.com, which was my homepage at the time, and virustotal). Others, like Google and random.org, worked just fine. When I checked the Networks panel, I was definitely connected. W... Read more

I recently set up a wireless router. My desktop is wired to the router, and my laptop is getting a wireless signal from it. I'm having problems talking between the two computers though. The router's ip is 192.168.2.1. Ipconfig says the desktop's ip is 192.168.2.2. Ipconfig on the laptop says its ip is 192.168.2.4.

I can ping the laptop and the router from desktop. I can only ping the router from the laptop, I cannot ping the desktop from the laptop. Also, when I was messing around, I found I could ping 192.168.2.3 from the laptop, but I don't understand what is using that ip address? I cannot, however, ping 192.168.2.3 from the desktop.

To give you a little background, I've had this happening since September 2013...I've worked with Comcast a lot with cables, fixing noise, 3 different modems, 2 different routers and multiple different cat 5 cables. Today I bought a new network card to by pass my on board. Still happens. Comcast was here today with another modem and their laptop... while it was dropping connections and packets on my computer it wasn't on their laptop. We swapped places and on the modem / cable I was on having issues.. they weren't having them at all. So I can only assume to narrow it down to my computer only. I've done malware, reg and spyware scans already. Ran Malwarebytes, Super Anti Spyware and Combofix.    I seem to have a lot of missing files within my HijackThis and also unknown Winsock LSP dll's. I tried fixing and it would just kill my connection. I had to run Winsockfix to get it back. Also ran LSPfix and it found nothing wrong. [code=auto:0]Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 6:38:11 PM, on 2/24/2014Platform: Unknown Windows (WinNT 6.01.3505 SP1)MSIE: Internet Explorer v11.0 (11.00.9600.16518)Mod edit, removed HJT log as not permitted in this section,, ~~ boopmeSo I'm finally concluding that I might have to do a fresh install of Windows? I have 2 computers running XP Pro in a workgroup on a home network behind a Linksys BEFSR41 router.

I am the only person who uses or has access to them.

The first computer I set the network up on has 3 separate hard drives and a USB printer; the second has 1 hard drive with 2 partitions.

I used the Network Setup Wizard to set up both computers and then turned off the Windows firewall because I'm behind the router and have extensive antivirus and malware protections enabled

I can reboot the first computer and never have any trouble accessing the second from My Network Places.

After rebooting the second computer and when I open My Network Places and click on any icon for the first computer, a box named "Connect to....." opens and asks for a user name and password. After I enter my name and

I am running Win7 Pro 64 bit on my desktop computer which is hardwired to my network. I have a Kindle Fire and whenever I try to browse across the network and access the Win7, I can see it but I cannot open it. I always get a bad path or general login failure message on the Fire. I can browse to and access the Win7 from any other computer on the network so the problem seems to be with the Kindle-Win7 interface. The Kindle has no trouble whatsoever browsing to and accessing a computer running XP Pro 32bit that is wirelessly connected to the network. I've tried several different file management apps on the Kindle and I have to admit I'm stumped. I'm beginning to wonder if it's some sort of bug in 7, the Kindle OS, or both. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hello everyone, I am new here and am having difficulty finding where to direct my question. I am hopping that someone here will be able to help me with this issue I am having with Facebook or atleast direct me to the correct forum

I can log into my Facebook page without any type of issue. My email address and password are still active, however, logging in is the ONLY thing that I am able to do. I am unable to accept new friends, add or delete applications, reply to messages, etc., etc. I have tried emailing Facebook directly but there site is not set up well for directing issues to someone at Facebook for Tech support. I am wondering if anyone here has run into this same issue and would know what is causing me to get 'page errors'/unable to make changes to my Facebook site. I have been working on this issue for a couple days now to no avail and am at the point of deleting the account all together and re-creating one..however, since I cannot make any changes at all to my Facebook site, I doubt I will be able to even do that !

Any advice, tips and/or tricks are appreciated,

TIA, Realitybytes

I've been having issues with Facebook. Have been unable to locate the 'Recent Posts By Others' button on any of the community pages where I post. It only shows the 'Post on Timeline' area of said pages. Which is all well & good, however, the only posts that show are the ones posted by those who manage the pages. I am unable to see anything I post unless I access my content through the links in my Activity Log. Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this problem, & if there's a way to remedy the situation. I can't find any info in the Facebook Help content, so I'm hoping someone may have a suggestion here. Any & all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Internet Explorer is not supporting facebook fully as i thinks so...

Check if you are also getting the same problem.

Now if I refresh or even restart, nothing happens!

Should I report it to FB team or its only the browser problem. Any help will be appreciated.

I am running windows 7 home premium on a Multi core amd machine with 16 gigs of ram.

Just last Saturady I noticed my ping shoot through the roof while play Star Wars: The Old Republic and other online games. I then also notice streaming issues and what not from other websites I regularly visit. I ran a speed test at Speedtest.net and my ping was averaging 600-700 ms if not more and my up load was slashed.. I contacted comcast and tried to work with them.. to no success...

Today I think I narrowed it down to the computer here doing it. I have ran full virus scan, spyware and maleware checks and they came up clean..

Also this speed issues isn't imedidiate it starts out quick then starts to die out.

As for constant background stuff I run outlook and that about it other than system stuff.

He cannot even go to the site without the page being all white. He's tried all kinds of tricks and browsers and had other friends try to help with little success.

Anyone know what could be causing this and what he can do? I will try asking him to join here so he can tell you all this himself if needed. But I promised him I'd help any way possible.

Every time I try and get onto Myspace or Facebook i receive an error message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working' or 'Experienced a problem'.

Each time it checks for a solution, however one never arrives, it simply re-starts.

This only happens on these two sites, it allows me onto the homepage but no further than that.

I am using IE7 and Vista Home Premium x64.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Facebook apps have never performed very well in Windows Phone 8.0 or in Metro (either 8.0 or 8.1).

The latest hiccup has been if someone posts one image that appears on my timeline, it puts 3 different copies of the image all bunched together (as if the poster had posted the same image 3 times). Happens all the time.

Hi all,

For some reason, my browser (Chrome) cannot access the facebook website. I've tried using other browsers but am still unable to use facebook. However, I am able to access every other website except for facebook. I've tried using a proxy to access the website and I was able to do it but when I switch the proxy off, I'm back to square one.

I've tried going to the website on another PC with the same WiFi network and it works. I believe the problem lies with my computer itself. Is there any way to solve this problem?

I'm using a HP Pavilion dm3 Notebook PC that runs on Windows 7.

Thanks and regards

I have been using waterfox actually but, it is essentially firefox.
Yesterday morning everything was working normally...  I went out bird watching with my oldest daughter... when I came back(my computer stays signed off, nobody messed with it) I was having trouble with facebook.  All the pages were having trouble loading.  Some I'd have to refresh over and over and they'd just sit there.  I was able to do some things but it took a long time.  VERY VERY laggy...  Like, I was ready to pull my hair out.
It was only facebook... no other sites were giving me trouble.
Today I tried IE and just navigated all the pages I could while not logged in.  NO problems.  Pages loaded normally.  So I went to firefox instead of waterfox and, still the same issue.
I started to go through some of my addons, disabling them.(shouldn't really have to for ONE website).  I don't know what happened, what changed yesterday that would cause this but, with firefox and waterfox, facebook is still not loading properly for me.
I wonder if I can view info on any addon updates or anything else that may have occurred when I went back online yesterday afternoon.  I mean, something, somewhere had to change right?
I am not going to use IE...  and for those ready to suggest it, I will not use Chrome either.
I'm scratching my head wondering what happened.....   I don't understand how all these other sites are working just fine and fac... Read more

A:firefox facebook issues...

May know the culprit... or at least, can narrow it down for anyone that might have thoughts... anyone?
So, I'll restate......
Facebook wont load half the time and when it does, it hangs and doesn't load completely...
This happens for firefox and waterfox, but didn't seem to happen in IE...
Checked this afternoon and this was on my computer as well as a laptop in the house...
Well, that laptop is with my wife in another town right now and, while I'm still having the facebook issues, she is not.
So...  Just firefox browsers, just this house, just facebook......... ODD...
What I'm about to explain and suggest wouldn't make sense to me unless it was IE as well.......  but, here it goes...
Not too long ago, I switched the DNS that my router was using.  I had been having intermittent trouble with ONE particular facebook game.  It was decided that my ISPs DNS was causing the problem with the servers for that facebook game.  I switched the DNS settings to use Comodo's...  (someone suggested google's but, I do NOT trust google... ha)
Anyway... switching the DNS to comodo's settings fixed the game errors immediately and I've had no issues with it since...  (well, except for when I try to visit a local news station, comodo's dns thing would say that news site was linked to yadda yadda yadda, and I had to make temporary exceptions... )
Anyway.....
Could this be a DNS issue?  I mean, Both computers had the issue here but now that o... Read more

My issue is this I am having issues loading Facebook, going on 2 days and it is very annoying. I only see My name, under that newsfeed, messages and events.

No this is not on my end I have dsl and the site is not down, Get a blank page, with what I posted I see, I even went from secure browsing and that didn't help. I have cleared cashe, flash cashe and Java and still has this issue. Also no malware or viruses. What can cause this. Also to note it is slow to load yet other sites are fine.

Please help!

Try to use a different web browser other than your usual one and post the result. The intention is to find out if it's just a problem with one particular web browser, which will obviously help in tracing the cause.

Like said in the title; it is close to impossible for me to connect to Facebook! I don't want any miss understanding I can occasionally connect, I want to stress the word "occasionally" because I've been trying for the past few months non-stop (when I say non-stop I mean for an hour or so until I give up) and when I do connect, which is about 1/10,000 attempts, it runs rather slow, like its struggling to stay connected, I've noticed a pattern that its somewhat easier ( I don't know if its just random statistical luck) to connect after 0:00 GMT.

Anyway, I've done the usual stuff like checked if I could connect using other web browsers ( I'm using Google chrome but I checked using Firefox and internet explorer) I couldn't connect on any of them and the problem is only with Facebook and my computer specifically. Other computers in the same house, and also my iPod, can connect to Facebook just fine. Also I've tried un-installing and re-installing Google chrome with no luck, I've looked up other solutions with no success such as going on internet explorer > internet options> connections > Lan settings and making sure some box in un-ticked. with no luck. I've even tried going on CMD and pinging Facebook and I'm losing no packets with a Min ping of 97ms and a Max ping of 98ms.

I've tried scanning for a virus with no success finding any, and I've even tried converting to religion and praying to god ... Read more

Hi it just started these 2 days when i just cannot access facebook via normal PC browsers. The page wither take ages to load or I get time out error messages, empty responses error page etc. Even if I manage to login, the browser will be trying to load the next page for ages, only to return similar error pages. I am able to access FB from my mobile HP though so it cant be my FB account issue.

I have the same problem when i use a different machine and it happens to my FB account all the time. My family members encounter the same intermittently but not as bad as my case.

There dun seem to be any consistency or pattern on why it happens to some and doesnt though we are all ont he same network. I am suspecting though it is my router settings but am not sure how I can troubleshoot... When I use 3G via hotspot through my mobile HP, I seem to be able to at least login to my facebook account successfully though, loading is slower due to the limited bandwidth..

This is so frustrating...Thanks in advance!

Over the last few weeks, I've ran into problems with Facebook on Google Chrome. I've done quite a bit to try and figure out the loading issues. Basically, it's all random...I can jump right on the net and load Facebook, and five minutes later (browser still up), it won't load. OR, I can be off the computer for a while, get on and have trouble immediately...doesn't really matter. Nothing specific.

In the JavaScript console, I get errors...and they aren't always the same. Just now, I have a "failed to load resource" error, and while Facebook seems to have loaded my news feed, it's still trying to load SOMETHING. A few minutes back, it sat on a white screen, with "Uploading (0%)" in the left corner.

It's probably significant to note that my Facebook "share" buttons (on multiple sites) are giving me problems, randomly, as well as the Facebook comment boxes.

Just a few minutes ago, I wiped Chrome from my system, downloaded it again, and I'm still having these issues.

I've cleared cache, cookies, and everything in between.

In addition to this, I've re-registered a few DLL's (such as jscript), dropped the firewall, lowered every internet security settings, checked security exceptions in Chrome, disabled malware and anti-virus programs (didn't have any running in the first place), scanned with Malwarebytes...and still, it's there.

The puzzling thing: it all works fine on Firefox,... Read more
