Computer Freezes during games or streaming videos

Q: Computer Freezes during games or streaming videos

I've had this problem for about 3 years. I've replaced so many parts and i'm still getting the same problem.

so basically, during games or streaming videos, my computer might freeze sometimes.
Its a custom built computer from 6 years ago. Here's some specs.
Windows7 Ultimate 32x
AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 6000+ 3.00ghz
4.00 gb memory (only 3.5 is usable because of 32x)
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS

Okay so basically, the games i'm playing do not even take high end stuff to begin with (Heroes of Newerth / Left 4 dead 2 / Starcraft2)

And sometimes, it randomly freezes, the only way to turn it back on is hold down the power button to turn if off and turn it on again.

I have replaced the PSU 3x already (its a corsair 650w now. My first PSU that came with the computer was a thermaltake 500w did not even have problems unitl after 2 years.)

I have gotten more ram. (i started at 2gb and now i'm at 4gb)
I have ran many scans and everything seems to be alright but my computer still freezes.

And i have gotten more fans cause i thought it wasn't cool enough.

But i discovered something. Is it possible that my computer isn't getting enough energy from the outlet? Here is a speedfan picture

My temp is normal and never ever goes past 81c even while playing and is 60c at idle.

But the voltage on the 12v line is REALLY disturbing me. Is it possible that, that is the problem?
And sometimes it alternates between 7.44v and 9.50v but it never goes higher than that
Right now, my psu is connected to a power strip and i'm debating about putting it into a wall outlet.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Icehism,

Any number of faults could cause this issue, the PSU might not output the power it needs, drivers can stop working, devices can stop responding due to hardware/software faults, it can basicly be anything.

I would recommend you to take a look in the eventlog (Start > Search > eventvwr.msc > Hit enter) under the systems log (and the other ones aswell for that matter) and see if you find any reoccuring faults at all, if so, paste them here. And also check around the time it last happened, see if any error reports were made.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that, you could export the log and attach it to your next post for us to look at.

Okay, so I have been having this problem for a while now. My computer freezes, but ONLY when streaming videos in a web browser (from websites like YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, etc.). It happens as follows: I can be watching YouTube for perhaps 30 minutes, already having sat through 5 or 6 videos (sometimes this occurs on the first, however), and while I'm watching a video, all 3 of my monitors freeze, the primary monitor blacks out, and the audio cuts out after about 2 seconds. I've tried letting my computer sit for a while to see if it restores itself, but it never has, so I always need to hard-restart my computer when this happens.

I've upgraded my graphics driver to the latest version, and it didn't fix the problem, so I contacted AMD support, who told me to use Display Driver Uninstaller and uninstall a specific older version of the program. This did not fix my problem either. So finally, I let the AMD auto-installer select one of the older drivers for me based on my card, but that didn't fix it either. I then tried reinstalling each of these separately after using the DDU each time but yet again it did not fix the problem. I?ve even installed a newer version of my BIOS, but the problem was unimpeded.

I am certain that my computer is not overheating, as the fan display on the front of it maintains a reading within 2 degrees of 30 Celsius almost constantly, and I can run DOOM both offline and online at 100 fps with Vulkan ? a considerably more demanding process than wat... Read more

I found and attempted two other solutions I found for similar problems: One suggested that the OP should disable hardware acceleration in Flash, which I did, but that obviously didn't fix the problem since YouTube runs on HTML now. Another solution suggestion that the OP should try different browsers. Browsers I have tried include Chrome, IE, Microsoft Edge, Firefox...

Hi I just recieved a new custom built computer from Cyberpowerpc. I installed the newest drivers for everything but for some reason when I scroll to fast on a web page, watch videos at full screen, attempt to play a game or even when I am trying to open a program my computer screen becomes distorted with pink and green lines and my mouse and keyboard are unresponsive and sound dies within 10 seconds. If I wait for a good 10 minutes sometimes my computer will restart. If anyone has any advice what so ever it will be greatly appreciated because I am ready to take out my graphics card and use the on board one. If you need any information i will be more then happy to give it to you.

This is something that I've been having trouble with for a couple months now, but recently I've noticed it happening more often. The problem is essentially me playing games or watching videos and having the sound, video and mouse completely freeze up. I then have to hard restart the computer, and sometimes my wireless connection will not work as well and I'll have to restart the computer again to make the WiFi work. I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on Bootcamp on a Macbrook Pro that I bought in 2009 I believe. Not sure if it is malware or something else that is causing the problem. Hopefully Tech Support can help me out here. If there's anything else you need from me before you can help me, please let me know. My Hijack Log, dds.txt and attach.txt are as follows:

I have brand new MSI GT60 laptop with GTX870M ,i7-4800MQ CPU and 8gb ram.

There is a random 2-3 second freeze every few minutes while i am streaming videos(any site CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News, youtube, etc). they don't play smoothly at all , they play so laggy. during this freeze audio does not loop or freeze, it continues normally.

i have tried the following
1. i have updated all the drivers video, network, sound.
2. Tried a different browser (both Firefox and Chrome).
3. Used the killer cleaner and installed the pure drivers.
4. Tried the killer package from MSI support page, recovery disc and the version from Qualcomm site.
5. Gave up and installed a brand new windows 8.1 as a secondary boot, same issue.
6. tried disconnecting all USB devices and everything , still freezes.

Seriously i don't know what other options i have

This particular issue could not be a temp thing, since it starts right from the moment i switch on the laptop. Also i don't notice any lags when i am playing games or playing videos using some video player(BS player/VLN)

Its not an internet issue as well, videos would have completely buffered already but would still freeze.
Looks like a flash player issue, i have tried 3 versions of flash player (11,13,14 ) all have this issue, i just cant solve this.

What else can i do? Could it be a hardware issue ?

I have also run some traces, uploaded trace files here

This time, my other laptop is having its own troubles.

Also, when I play installed games that my computer should handle easily, it still gets choppy from time to time. Here are my computer specifications:

Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago I started getting random BSOD while streaming videos when using Chrome. So I updated my graphics card drivers thinking that was the problem but I was still getting BSOD when streaming videos and it started happening when I play games through steam as well as just general browser use at times. To give a little more context, right before I started getting the BSOD, I had just finished using my computer for rendering and 3D Modeling. I am not sure if the PC was overclocking or not, but the BSOD's started happening after I finished doing the renders. My PC is about 5 years old and it's currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I am not quite sure of all the specs of my computer because my friend help me build it but I have attached the DM Log collector. If anyone have advice on how to stop these BSOD's, I would really appreciate it as I have more rendering jobs to do soon in a couple of weeks.

Please and thank you for helping.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them.

As the title states, I receive blue screens when playing a game or watching movies, or even watching videos on youtube.

I've had this problem for about a year, which is when I got the computer, and had people try to help me fix it before on the sevenforums, but their response was that the reason I was getting them was because apparently I had a pirated windows 7. I made sure to fix that and upgraded to windows 8, but the blue screens have followed me over to the new system and seem to be occurring more frequently than usual.

ntoskrnl.exe seems to be the one causing all the issues, with strings like;

BAD_POOL_CALLER
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL

As far as I know, all of my drivers are up to date.

Hi, so for the last few months Ive gotten a worse and worse BSOD. I noticed it first in the flight simulator when I would zoom when looking out the canopy and I would see distant enemy fighters and then I would get BSOD just as i saw them. Then Flying my RC simulator I get BCOD very quick. Now it seems when watching a TV show online and clicking on a video of something funny or interesting it will get BSOD. To me it seems as if anytime the computer is working hard on something visual it shuts down for the BSOD. Anyways here is the info needed, here is from when i restart and it shows me the "details", and following the instructions ive attached the file I made with the DM log. Thank you guys. Im considered a Newb going into this "deep" with computers but im a quick learner so I hope you will stick with me so I can get this figured out So i can start my online video editing class. Thanks!

These bugchecks indicate a Machine Check Exception has occurred which means the hardware has signified (via a standard messaging interface) through the processor driver that an correctable hardware error has occurred ,the system then bugchecks on purpose, the result is a 0x124 error.

It looks like a very strong indication of a bad CPU, given that all your dump files show this:

Code:
Error : DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 0)
Status : 0xb400200069000135
Address : 0x0000000032c10c00
Misc. : 0x0000000000000000
A level 1 cache data read error on the primary processor of the first memory bank, this is a consistent error within your bugchecks, this is bad, especially on the first processor.

I recommend running Prime95 to find out.

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

   Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Try taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard then placing it back in to ensure no improper settings have been made.

Post back the results.

Hi. I have had my laptop now for over a year and up until last month it was working perfectly fine. I use steam a lot to play games and i had never encountered any problems until one day whilst playing dc universe online my laptop started playing up with the graphics and sound during the trailer.

Since then, thinking it was that one off game i decided to try another game - aion free to play. And the exact same problems have occurred. When i am in game the character can move around freely, but every few seconds the graphics just freeze for 2-3 seconds and this probably happens every 10 seconds or so. I have tried lowering my resolution, ticking every box to lower the performance standards and still it does it.

Then during the trailers the same thing happens. The graphics freeze every few seconds and during this time the sound also loops over and over until the graphics come back. This sometimes happens during watching videos too.

I have tried updating my directX, flash, all of my drivers (via driver manager), my video driver, clearing my registry, and even attempted several full system restores back to the original factory state, yet still the same thing happens when i download the games.

I have a dell inspiron n5010 laptop, with 4gb installed memory ram (3.87 usable), windows 7 sp1 64bit, an ati mobility radeon HD 5470 graphics card.
As said before all of my drivers are up to date, and i have a windows experience index score of 5. I have scanned for virus' (M... Read more

Blow out all fans with a can of compressed air. Make sure there is ventilation to the bottom of the laptop. Consider a laptop cooler.
You can also download the ISO image for Memtest in my signature burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Remove all but one stick or RAM and boot off of the newly created CD. And run the tests on each stick separately. You can also download the ISO image for either Seatools, or Drive Fitness in my signature and burn the image with IMGBurn and boot off of that CD and run the Quick and the Advanced tests on the HDD.

Hello!
Since I've bought a new cisco router last summer, a Lynksys E1200, my computer (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when i stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later. Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and i have to reboot the hard way...
This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time i bought the router. But what makes me think its realated to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT accure.... Do you think you could help me? This is getting really annoying! I would really appreciate it! :-) Thanks a lot!

ps-Oh and I don't know if this information could be relevent, but this does not happen when I make videos calls with skype on my iphone!

I have a inspiron 531 that shuts down whenever I stream videos. Generally I see a blue screen for less than a second and it turns completely off all within a second. I have changed several hardware items in my computer since I got it. I know quite a bit about computers and this has baffled me. Videos Pause Anywhere! Internet and on Computer, Streaming and Playing in Video Players..Anywhere!! HELP!!!!

No matter where I play videos they pause or freeze or go very slow..I can hear the audio but the video freezes like when it needs buffereing.

Usually in Youtube if it does that I will pause it and wait for it to load and then play it and everything goes smoothly. One day I realized that pausing and waiting wasn't working anymore. It continues to freeze and be pausey. I decided it's my video streaming and internet.

Then I tried to play a video file in Sony Vegas' Trimmer (Which usually plays everything fine) and it was still doing it. I tried Media Player Classic and the same thing. When I play videos in Windows Media Player it's just black with sound. I'm so lost..I searched everywhere and everyone's problems almot seems like mine but it was always something different so I can't use their solution.

Everytime I restart the computer the problem goes away..Then it comes back later...This is turning into an everyday thing..I'm very frustrated.

Does anyone know what this specific problem may be?

Or did anyone experience this before?

How can internet videos and video files both be a problem?
Sounds like a Display problem but I'm not sure about that at all.

Can you help?

It's like a horror movie for me. I edit videos all day. I need video playback.

Okay so this only happens every so often and I'm not sure what the trigger is, except for the fact that it's definitely during a flash video.
No particular site does it, it's happened while watching video on both Firefox and Internet Explorer.
It definitely doesn't happen all the time, it's random. I watch tons of flash videos and it just comes out of nowhere.
So suddenly the monitor will go black and displays "No Signal" then "VGA" and then slowly flashes in the screen I was on, but the screen only bleeds in slowly and sometimes not fully, I can't really move my mouse or do anything. It's acts like the CPU is clocked at 100%...then the monitor shuts off again, until I move my mouse around or CTRL-ALT-DLT to bring up option to Task Manager and slowly bleeds back in again like before but then goes black again.
When I do bring up Task manager, I have been able to check and it says 0-1% of the CPU is being clocked, but it sure doesn't act like it. I can't do anything but force shut the computer off and reboot.
I have a Gateway, Intel Core i3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine.

WHENEVER I try to stream video from the internet my browser and whole computer freezes and I have to do a hard re-boot. Be it with WMP, Quicktime or realplayer or anything i can never manage to play a video. After this happens it won't let me close the browser or even do Control, Alt, Delete.
This problem started after i'd got my computer back from repair sorting out a virus, it might be related because the malware is still there being annoying it's just supposedly inactive.

With quicktime a tiny snippet of audio can be heard for a few seconds before it freezes and with WMP i think it says "error loading codec" or something.

Oddly, youtube type videos are fine. I know other people have posted in with similar problems but i've had no luck fixing it. Any help would be much appreciated,

Computer freezes totally, must do a reboot...video usually runs for about 1 minute. I get no error messages, ect..

I have followed the 5 steps suggested...
I have never had an issue with any type of Trojan or Virus..I clean out the adware ect on a regular basis. I use Zone Alarm, AVG , Spytbot and Adcanced Windows Care V2 Personal (I also have CCleaner, but the WindowsCare seems to do a good job with the Regisrty).
I run these on a fairly regular basis...I also had no new updates to install, as I do those consisntly as well.

Hey guys, so when I am streaming youtube or TV shows, my computer will all of a sudden freeze up, the mouse won't move, CTRL+ALT+DEL does nothing. for an instant the sound will become loud and just white noise (about 3 seconds). After this, the computer will sit at that stage, frozen and will never change, the screen won't go black, I need to do a hard reset to restart it. I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1.

My hardware is:
Mobo:ASRock 970 Extreme4
CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
8Gb RAM

I have tried manually installing the newest driver for graphics card from the website. I have tried reinstalling adobe flash as well.

Has anyone got any ideas? I am out of them. It will usually crash within minutes of streaming, I have been using the computer at this moment for about 40 minutes without streaming and it has not crashed, apart from this, I don't have any other proof that it is crashing due to the streaming, but it is fair enough to assume it is.

Cheers guys

My laptop is a Sony Vaio running Windows 7. When I watch online videos (can be Youtube or any other kind of streaming video) my computer has been freezing very often lately (at least twice a day). When it freezes the computer stops and I can't move the mouse or do anything but the sound from the video persists as a slowed down, very roboty sounding version of the real sound. This will go on for about a minute and then the sound will stop. Eventually the computer will unfreeze itself after between 2-10 minutes of sitting there doing nothing and then the video will resume as if nothing happened (sometimes between 1 and 2 seconds of video have been skipped). Is there any fix to this problem?

Hi, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and recently downloaded SP1. Now when I stream video, the whole computer freezes often and seemingly at random times. The video stops, the sound gets stuck on one note, and I am unable to use the mouse or keyboard until it unfreezes which is sometimes twenty seconds, but sometimes twenty minutes. It eventually unfreezes and usually continues playing like normal. I have tried using chrome, firefox, and explorer all with the same results. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

Hey, I recently started having a problem with my computer where it will freeze whenever I try and play any type of streaming video, or when playing music through itunes. When it freezes, I can still use the mouse, but clicking (left or right) does nothing, on anything, and pressing ctrl+alt+del does nothing either, so I have to hold down the power button to turn off computer then turn it back on.

Also, when it freezes, any audio playing at the time starts looping, about 1-2 seconds worth of audio just looping.

I have tried running AVG virus scan, came up with no problems, Spybot and Adaware, came up with stuff, fixed it, no change. Used a registry cleaner, fixed it, cleaned it up, no change. Ran Chdsk and it cleaned some stuff up but no change.

In the event log, it shows absolutely nothing when this happens, under any heading. Ive tested this using the itunes freezing recently, and it will show itunes service starting, then the next event is event log starting when I restart the system.

However, I did find some stuff from when it started (around 12:21 am Dec. 25th) which is:

Hi everyone,

A few days ago my computer started freezing whenever I watched video with any media player or online. The video will play from anywhere between 30 seconds and a few minutes. I'm getting no error codes, no BSOD, no screen tear or blocks, the video and audio just freeze and I get no keyboard or mouse response so I have to restart the computer. I get no problems just being online or using word processors, seems only problem is when I play video or play games.

I've had issues with my graphics card before so I'm guessing that's the problem again, but I'm not sure so that's why I'm here.

My computer specs are:

Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge
ASrock P67 Pro3
8GB G.Skill Ripjaw
ASUS nVidia GTX 560Ti
650W PSU

I just ran FurMark stability test on fullscreen and I was averaging 100fps and 75C for 60k frames with no problems. Don't know if that helps at all.

If you need more info I'll do what I can to get it for you. Thanks for taking any time to help me out.

Hello all. I have been having the same problems with my desktop (a Frankenstein's monster of different parts first put together with assistance at the closest Frys store) that have spanned at least a few years. I've needed it for college and it mostly works for what I need it to do so I left it like this but would now like to once and for all solve the problem.

I'm running Windows 7 with a MSI mainboard, AMD FX-4100 CPU, 4 Gigs of RAM, currently connected to a ATI Radeon Graphics card connected to a cheap, old HP Pavilion mx50 monitor.

Okay, so the symptoms. Originally, when my computer was left to idle the monitor would shut down as monitors usually will but along with the monitor the whole system would be in a coma that I couldn't even use the off button to stop. I had to push the switch on the back to turn it off. Now it can idle for at least thirty minutes, but I think if left for an hour or two it does the same thing. Unfortunately I forgot how I managed to improve this problem.

The second problem still happens and is my major concern. When running certain functions the computer will either do the same as above or it will crash and immediately turn off the whole system. I can watch DVDs without problems for several hours and mp4s for at least twenty minutes but if I watch for longer, play Minecraft, or even watch Youtube for a significant portion of time it will crash. When it crashes like this I will usually need to wait for around ten to fifteen ... Read more

I have managed to work around this by playing in windowed mode which works for some games like saints row 4, but not for dota 2 (dota will crash no matter what I do). Also, netflix will crash the computer if I play the movies in full screen mode.
I've tried a lot of different things and sometimes when I keep my computer on for long periods of time (close to a week) saints row 4 will work just fine in full screen, but then I'll go to watch an anime in full screen (streaming) and the computer will crash. After that it will crash to almost anything that's full screen. Oddly enough I can watch twitch in full screen just fine.....
Totally perplexed......

Since their was a tech support near by we took our password protected computer to him, then when we got it back he deleted everything and put it to windows 7, everything seemed ok until we got internet back at the house, now I downloadeded all my Mmos and played on one of them, S4 league, the FPS rate was so low and I did not know why. It wasn't the connection, I am using comcast atm. After a bit of messing around I found that the coprocessor in the Device manager had a yellow triangle on it, I tried clicking on it then the computer tried to instal new softwar but did not then it sent me to this, and the download was in this link, http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...ce_winvista_win7_32bit_international_whql.exe
I did it and it downloaded 4 drivers for nvidia, one of them was ethernet I recall, but after that everything was worse, the computer was slowing down a little with choppy mouse movement, and when I go on youtube videos, anything over 240-360p would cause major video lag and I think my Mmo frame rate got worse (And maybe download speed but I don't care that much). Any Ideas? I let you see my drivers,

Hello. I recently formatted my computer since the harddrives started to fill up quite good. And I thought it would be nice to have a fresh install again.
But now I kinda regret it...

I'm gonna give you as much info as I can here, so the post might get a bit long.

Here are my system specs directly from dxdiag:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
Complete DxDiag uploaded.

So I put in my windows 7 installation disk and restarted the computer. Then I completely cleaned the harddrives and istalled it. But after I had installed several updates from Windows Update and installing drivers I went on to youtube to watch a few videos.
But a few minutes in the computer completely froze until it recovered again after about 30 seconds.

I decided to look in the Task Manager to see the Processor usage, and every time it freezes all the cores spike up to 100%.
Sorry for it being in Swedish, but you can compare it to your own if you need to.

So these are the things I have done to try and fix it:
1. Defragment all the harddrives
2. Use a cmd command called "sfc /scannow" to scan for errors
3. Use the installation disks repair tool
4. Right click on the video and stop hardware acceleration(maybe poorly translated, I use chrome)
5. Go into windows safe-mode with internet. Worked perfectly there.
6. Run benchm... Read more

When i play videos through windows media playe 11 or play online games like Vanguard at various times my sound appears to stutter then the screen freezes for a second then i get the blue screen saying an unrecoverable hardware error has happend and my comp reboots. Ive been emailing dell every day for 3 weeks now and they still have no answer for me. if i disable my sound device i can play video and play vanguard with no problem but as soon as i use sound i get the blue screen. My hunch is a compatibility issue with windows vista. Dell has replaced my video card and i still get it and ive downloaded current drivers for my vid card and sound card and used the windows update for any critical and security updates out there. Ive restored my comp to factory settings 5 times as per request of dell tech guys, and ive uninstalled the sound device then reinstalled it.
But im sites like Youtube i have no problem running there media player.
My system specs are as follows

dell dimension E520
intel core duo processors 2.13ghz, 2.13 ghz
2 gigs of ram
windows vista 64
ATI radeon 1300 pro 256 mb video card
sigmatel high definition audio CODEC

This comp is brand new fresh out of the box and my old system plays video and games just fine with windows XP

I'm using windows XP 32-bit, and my system has 3GB of ram. Even when I only have 1 internet page open, my computer randomly freezes in the middle of a video. When I return to my computer 10 minutes later, it has restarted, or gets a blue screen. I do spyware cleanups daily, and my anti virus doesn't detect anything. I also tried a registry cleaner. My computer doesn't have that many programs installed on it. Is there anything I can try to speed my computer up and stop this freezing? Thanks.

A:Firefox/computer freezes during videos

how much free space on the c drive? are you streaming the video from online? If so, try another browser to see if firefox might be the problem.

Welcome to the TSG forums.

Here is the support site for the Acer Aspire 5536 laptop/notebook.
You should add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

Is it using Windows XP or Vista or 7, 32-bit or 64-bit?

How much RAM does it have?

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab. How many entries are checked?
