I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Mini Dump error plz help automatic restart in windows 8!

No Windows Updates installed. Most systems have at least 30 or 40. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions). I strongly suspect that this hold true for Win8 systems also.

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

The memory dump blames your Avast antivirus. Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest version of Avast
- uninstall your current copy of Avast
- install the freshly downloaded copy of Avast
- IMMEDIATELY update it and perform a full system scan
- continue to monitor for further BSOD's

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

My computer restarts once every 3 to 5 days. Often in the middle of movie or youtube video or reading pdf file.
I have done Memtest86 ram test 4 passes. OCCT psu test 3 hours pass. Don't know what else to do. I have followed the instruction and here is the files. Please help.

A:Computer restart while watching youtube, movie, pdf. No mini dump file

Hello and welcome to Sevenforums!
How-To set so Windows create a dump:

1. Go to the Control Panel, choose 'System And Security', and then click 'System', and then click the 'Advanced System Settings' link.

2. In the opened window, click the 'Advanced' tab and then inside the 'Startup And Recovery' frame, click the 'Settings' button.

3. In the opened 'Startup And Recovery' window, there is 'Write Debugging Information' section. You should set the combo-box in this section to 'Small memory dump', and then click 'ok' to confirm the change.

You can also make this MiniDump change in the Registry, by setting the following value:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl]
"CrashDumpEnabled"=dword:00000003
However, be aware that this Registry change affects the system only after reboot.
Cheers,
Laith

Hi everyone,
Newbie here so hope I posted this in the right section.

I am not able to boot up my laptop at all so I cannot do the DM Log Collector, sorry!

I own an ASUS R500A laptop that seemed to have crashed for no reason yesterday. I was using it, went afk for a few hours, came back and saw it in Windows Error Recovery. I had 2 options - Start Windows Normally or Launch Startup Repair. Start Windows Normally loops back to Windows Error Recovery. Launch Startup Repair takes me to a blank screen with ASUS logo and a window X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe. I am unable to type anything in this box.

I cannot boot in Safe Mode (loops again). I get BsoD when i choose "Disable Automatic Restart Upon System Error". I did not install any new hardware or software recently. I also don't have a Windows 7 DVD or Recovery Disk to boot from. After a few more times trying to reboot, F8 on start up no longer takes me to the screen where I can choose to boot in Safe Mode. All I get is the Windows Error Recovery window.

Is this something I can fix on my own or should I bring it to a repair shop? I would appreciate any help you guys can provide! I'm heartbroken that I might have lost all my pictures of my beloved pets that have passed on, as well as my school work.

Hello everyone,

I did some reading around on previous topics regarding mini dump errors I keep getting, but I'm unsure of how to analyze the file to tell what is causing it. I suspect it may be my memory, but I'm not an expert.

The OS usually crashes and goes into a blue screen for a few seconds, then the system reboots itself. My computer is fine when it's idle, but the problem can occur when I'm switching back and forth between Internet Explorer windows, or doing something active.

Also, MS Flight Simulator 2004 crashes VERY frequently, but it won't always cause the system reboot. Sometimes, it just crashes and brings me back to the desktop.

I've attached my mini dump file to this thread, as well as a screenshot of an error message I got (I'm pretty sure this is one of the "Your system has recovered from a serious error" messages that I got when the computer rebooted itself after a blue screen.)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: I've attached more minidump files, as requested. Thanks!

I keep getting a Mini dump Error, tried to copy n paste it, wouldn't allow, then took screenshot, and lost it - so next time it happens i`ll edit and upload it - in mean time here is my reports, hope rar is ok....

A:BSOD Random Mini Dump Error

Your BIOS dates from 2012. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one).

Only 156 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 170 to 190 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Lot's of .NET framework errors. I'd suggest uninstalling them and then reinstalling them. Suggestions on how to do it are here: https://www.google.com/search?q=rein...x-a&channel=sb

Please remove all antivirus and all firewalls.
Then enable Windows Defender and Windows Firewall
Test to see if this stops the BSOD's
More than one antivirus and/or more than one firewall can cause problems (to include BSOD's) because they are competing with each other.

Please uninstall LogMeIn (dates from 2007/2008) and the Cyberlink software (dates from 2011) as they are older than Windows 8.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

I just had a stop error. The system restarted on its own. I found in the system event viewer the following errors:

11/16/2010 4:53:50 system error (102) 1003 N/A computerName
11/16/2010 4:55:53 DCOM None 10010 SYSTEM computerName

I included the mini-dump for this. Mini111610-01.dmp

The only time I've had a stop error in the past was two weeks ago. I got new speakers, simple ones - no software included, and just plugged them in. A few minutes later the system hit a stop error and restarted. I've included that mini-dump. Mini110210-01.dmp

Between these two instances I see the following errors in the log:

system control manager 7000
system control manager 7009
browser 8032
(2) DCOM 10010

The only strange thing I'm doing - besides brazenly switching speakers - is running Virtual Box.

Can anyone give me an idea what's going on?

A:Error 1003, stop error, could someone look at my mini-dump?

Is this a system you built yourself or is it one built by the likes of Dell, HP, etc.?

I expect to be back online (barring any complications) within 2 days.
If I'm not back online by then, please PM another staff member for further assistance.

Are you overclocking? If so, return the system to stock values BEFORE proceeding.

This is a STOP 0x116 error blaming your ATI video drivers. Recently I've seen similar issues with both the tcpip.sys error and the ATI driver error. Here's what I suggest:
- updateing all of your network drivers (both wired and wireless)
- updating your video drivers from the ATI website.
If you already have the most updated drivers, then you must uninstall them before installing a fresh copy.

You can find troubleshooting steps for a STOP 0x116 error here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...eshooting.html

If that doesn't fix it, please post back and we'll start running hardware tests.

We see a lot of these, so there's a few initial steps that may help:
- update all networking device drivers (wired, wireless, and any of the fancy new Intel WiDi stuff)
- uninstall any network aware programs (such as Internet Security/Security Center apps and any 3rd party firewalls). Install a freshly downloaded copy of an antivirus program to provide protection while testing.

A:Windows 7 BSOD (Mini Dump attached)

It looks to me that it's associated with your Authentium protection program (amp.sys).
But it could also be an issue with your Silicon Image driver - comes with package for the SIxxxx drivers (controls the hard drives).

But, to add to your problems, there's these other BSOD causing issues:
- the ASACPI.sys driver dated from 2004
- the Speedfan drivers dated from 1996 and 2006
- numerous other drivers that are over 2 years old

So, please do this:
1 -

Quote:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Authentium product from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Authentium using this free tool: Authentium: What Safe Feels Like
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

2 - Download the 32 bit Windows 7 driver from this link: Silicon Image - Support | Search Results
- Uninstall the current drivers
- Install the freshly downloaded drivers

3 - Go to this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
- enter your system info and then specify Windows 7 (32 bit)
- scroll down to the Utilities section and download the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver and install it
NOTE: This is a known cause of BSOD's and must be updated.

4 - Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the... Read more

So I'll have random blue screens. Some things trigger it more than others. The computer usually will BSOD even when its idle. I can play hours of games without it crashing the only issue I have is playing a game of league of legends.. not IN the game itself but on the character selection screen. Anyway.. I've been having this problem for a LONG time I just havent had the time to repair it. I just need some help. Not doing a complete restore would be preferable. I just want to know whats causing the problem so I can go about fixing it. It doesn't seem to crash when running games but rather when its doing nothing or browsing the web.

Hey, I'm new on this forum and encountering a problem with my recently purchased computer. I've got Vista (Home Premium) as an operating system, but the computer I had before (XP Home edition, same but with worse specs) had the same problem with several of its applications.

When I try to start up a game or sometimes even a simple program a get an error. The complexity of the game doesn't seem to matter, I had the same error with minesweeper that I had with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The computer starts to load the game, but before any loading screens come up or anything that has to do with the game, a blue screen with white text comes up. At the bottom of the screen it says something along the lines of "Initializing Physical Memory Dump" and then counts up the percentage complete until it reaches 100% at which the computer restarts. From the time the blue screen shows up to the restart is about one and a half seconds, so I don't have time to read much of anything before it's gone.

Please help. This thing has been the bane of my existance for about a year now, on my old computer and then now on my just-purchased one.

Hello

My PC reboots quite often and has been going slower and slower for the last month at least.. with the following error :

BCCode 40000080 BCP1:81E124E8 BCP2: 81C20508 BCP3:F895DCE4
BCP4: 0000001 OSVer:5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product:768_1

I tried everything : updating Anti Virus, Spybot, Windows Update but it kept getting slower and rebooted quite often when I tried to open Outlook with Yahoo Messenger at the same time...

Tried reinstalling the graphic card but it didn't change a thing. Then suppressed all kinds of software (updates of Java, Norton Antivirus...), changed Outlook for Mozilla Thunderbird and IE for Firefox and now the PC is back to normal speed.

Thought it was "cured" but just tonight I had a blue screen with creation of a mini dump and actually found that I have 13 mini dump stored on the computer.

I cannot read the mini dump for I don't have DotNet or Visual Studio..
but it seems there are people on this forum who can..
Please some help will be welcome ...

As attachment please find the mini dump and the windows system error.. Thanking you in advance

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

It`s very difficult to be sure from just one minidump. We normally require 5 or 6 minidumps.

The minidump you provided crashes at fbxusb.sys. This is your usb modem driver.

Maybe updating the modems drivers may help. If it doesn`t, then try a different modem.

My windows XP pro won't boot, has a stop 21a BSOD, I've tried chkdsk/f at the recovery console and a manual system restore of the registry, I slaved the hard drive to another workstation and see a folder (found.000) with *.chk files within it, so I know the hard drive has crashed, I restored the chk files (3 of them) and still stop21a BSOD.
I searched around the hard drive for dump files (*.dmp) but there are none, my goal is to get the OS up and running and then clone the image to a new hard drive.
My question is, is there a way I can create a mini dump file so I can get a more detailed error on what's going on ?
I can access the registry when slaved to another workstation and all my data is retrievable, I just don't want to rebuild since there are some odd ball programs installed.
Note: I can not boot in to safe mode or any other mode including last know good configuration.

Please help guys.

All the minidumps are the same. They point out a problem with your network driver. This is a driver that lets your computer go online:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Tcpip.sys
What antivirus program are you using? Do you see any yellow exclamation points in the device manager?

My computer restarted on it?s own and then went into safe mode. But I couldn?t choose for it to start in safe mode or in normal mode with the arrows on the keyboard. It restarted itself again and got to the desktop. I then discovered that my keyboard wasn?t working when I tried to answer an email. I thought maybe ports can die???? Anyway I put it in another port and it started to download drivers for the keyboard. They wouldn?t d/l successfully. So then I restarted the pc and the pc started to repair errors and told me it?d do a system restore if it couldn?t fix the damage. Then a report came up ... it said something about a disk error and how a recent d/l prevented windows from starting up. Then it told me that it?ll restart the pc and if it starts up fine, I?m good. If it needs more repair, then it does. What could possibly be happening? Btw, I hear a humming from my pc. It wasn?t there before. The sound of the fan was there, but not this humming thing.

Hi and welcome

Go to here and download 'Hijack This!' self installer.
Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website
Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Hello everyone,

I have searched around a bit to see if others have ran into this problem, but I have had no luck so far. When I start my computer, it pops up with the standard menu it uses when an OS error has caused a restart. I can't get it too load windows using safe mode, last known good configuration, or normal mode. I never even see the windows loading screen, it restarts immediately.

Here is what I have tried:
1) I ran a check disk using the recovery console but it did not fix the problem.
2) I manually backed up the SYSTEM, SAM, DEFAULT, SECURITY, and SOFTWARE files from the root\windows\system32\config folder. I then replaced those files with ones from a few days ago located in the root\system volume information\ folder. It did not fix my problem.
3) I'm about to re-install windows when I decide to press f8 on boot and disable automatic restarts on system failure just to see if I'm missing some sort of BSOD. Windows completely loaded without any problems.
4) This confused me so I reversed the actions I took in step 2 (above) just to see whether it would boot with the original files as long as I chose "Disable Automatic Restarts on System Failure." It loaded windows without a problem.
5) I restarted to see whether it would boot normally or not. Again, it wouldn't load windows with any options other than the "Disable automatic restarts on system failure" option.

At this point, I'm pretty confused. Could the OS be mistakin... Read more

Restarting my Automatic Updates service gives me the following error message: Could not start the Automatic Update service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system could not find the file specified. I've been trying to fix this several times now with these online recommended steps, including:
1. Running my local AV program (avast!), both in Windows and during a boot time scan (Found an exploit virus and moved to chest)

2. Checking the ImagePath Value in the Registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv (Verified it is "%systemroot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs" and not a fake path like %fystemroot%\.. netsvcs.)

3. Running sfc.ex /scannow (No prompts came up)

4. Running HijackThis and spotting this suspicious line --- O23 - Service: UPHClean - Unknown owner - ?:\P?ogr?m Files\UPHClean\uphclean.exe (file missing). I've tried several times to delete this but it still comes back, and still shows up after running HJT several times.

5. Downloading MS Fixit 50202 in an attempt to reset Windows Update components, as recommended in a post http://forums.techguy.org/general-security/995717-solution-disabled-automatic-update-failure.html (Will not finish, giving this message, "Service 'Automatic Update' (WUAUSERV) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I'm the computer administrator.)

Are you running the beta version? Because afaik the beta version has already expired so it will restart like that.

Install the RC version or the RTM trial.

Well,

I have been looking around for something about this, but strangely, the only people talking about this want to turn it off...

My problem is that I never ever seen my Win8 reboot himself, yet I have set my system up that he checks for updates at a time I am not on my computer and has to/can reboot if needed, but this just never happens, I always have to do a manual reboot when I get home, and that is really very annoying.

So, guess my question is, how do I force Win8 to download, install and restart computer if needed after updates at a given time ?

Though if by any chance I am on my computer at that time, I would like to have some notification or pop-up telling me I have to restart.

I don't see my login screen, it is all automated, my computer is always running 24/7, so I don't see any messages on the login screen and the Win8 update page is a major hassle to get to.

Any tips and advice appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Bart

At first windows loads up as usual to desktop. After about 30 seconds, it randomly restarts and after that it keeps getting stuck at boot logo and then restarts again looping over and over again.

This also happens on safemode. I managed to uncheck automatically restart option on sysdm.cpl with the 30 seconds that I had, but even after doing that, the restart looping persists. I dont know what to do.

The last time windows worked normally, I played Forza Horizon 4 with logitech g29 steering wheel and shifter which was working perfectly fine for 4 days after I got the steering wheel. The next day I go to turn my computer on and this happened.

Hello, I just wanted to say here on the forums that making the Windows update restart my computer automatically, no matter what, is ridiculous. The last time the update had restarted my computer while I was using it, I went and put the settings to the option of "choose when to restart" or 'ask me first' or whatnot. Regardless of the fact that I consciously went and changed the setting so that it would not automatically update my computer, it still does it. The first time that it did it again, it wasn't a big deal. I checked the settings again and after some research learned that it would still probably restart my computer automatically without my say, no matter what, even though I had purposely changed the settings not to do so.

The first time this happened after I had changed the settings was not a big deal. The second time yesterday morning, however, was. To be short and not include the details, I had a video job interview at 9:00am. A very, very impotant interview. I turned on my computer around 7:30am, booted it up and left it on. When I came back to my computer around 8:45am, I opened the video software and prepared to connect to / recieve the call. This was when Windows Update decided that it was more important to restart my computer and apply an update to Windows.

This update took around 20-25 minutes. I never had an option to postpone or avoid this action. I thought about holding the power, but as most everything explicitly warns against turning off ... Read more

Windows 10 Home rebooted for an unknown reason this morning.
I woke up and found my pc hanged and unresponsive.
I was able to connect through the vnc server, and saw the dot-circle going round and round. Just stuck there.

I had to hard reboot. When I checked the Event Viewer, I could not determine what triggered the restart.

Yesterday, I installed a new nvidia graphics driver, but did not reboot. It did not ask me to.

Windows update setting is set to "notify me to schedule restart"
I set that a long time ago. so it's not supposed to auto reboot.

What other ways does Windows auto reboot? I need to shut them off.

I need my pc to have 100% uptime, and only allow manual reboots. I hate when I wake up to surprises like this.

A:how to disable all automatic restart in windows 10?

Run CMD as admin and copy/paste:

reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /v "AlwaysAutoRebootAtScheduledTime" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /v "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

That setting works only for a limited time, eventually Windows will restart itself.

A:Windows 7 64 bit spontaneous restart, Memory dump file provided, ty

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.
