I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey there YukiTsuki, I believe Windows often has Wacom drivers (The drivers used for this pen) preinstalled. Can you check you to see if you have "Wacom Pen" as a listen in your control panel (When in Large Icon view). Also are you 100% sure you have the 20DM000VUS model of the ThinkPad Yoga 14? Some Yoga 14 models do not have have pen support, if that is your correct model number then you should have it.

Hello, One of our ThinkPad Yoga goes into an endless loop when attempting to reboot. The O/S was upgraded from Windows 8.x (as shipped) to Windows 10 (MS free upgrade) a long time ago and there have been no previous issues restarting. Hi All, Can someone please explain the various codes/sequences used in MTM information of Thinkapd Laptops ? As an example, for if MTM is 20FMA02QIG, then Machine Type is 20FM And what does the remaining part 'A02QIG' conveys ?What all useful information can we have ? Does it includes Country Code/Month of Manufacture etc... Basically, while searching for Compatible Parts for my T460 here: http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/partslookup , The 'Compatibility' section only list the FIRST Four letters of a particular system. Example below: ?    It seems  ALL models which start with 20FM and 20FN are compatible with this particular battery: 45N1773. Is this correct ? Does the remaining part ( here 'A02QIG'  ) of full Model number ( 20FMA02QIG ) got NOTHING to do with the Compatibility here ?

My headphone jack doesn't output to the right headphone when I plug it in all the way. If I ever so slightly pull out the headphone jack about an 1/8th of an inch to the next knob it will output to both left and right headphones but with a high pitched noise in the background. Should I submit my laptop for servicing? Is there a fix to this issue? I have tried multiple headphones (which I have tested on other devices, that work fine on them) and this issue still persists.

Looking to add a microSD card to my ThinkPad X1 Yoga (2016 model) and was wondering what bandwidth the X1 Yoga's interface is capable of?  I see little point purchasing a 1800x (270MB/s) or 1000x (150MB/s) if the interface isn't capable of more than what a 633x microSD card can do 95MB/s? Do Lenovo publish this anywhere? Thank you, Pete

Hello, Since the latest windows 10 update, where they added the mini apps along with the xbox app, the device video playback started to act funny, both online and local played videos. The video plays regularly in the beginning but then starts to slow down even the mouse slows down with it and the audio, sort of unstability where playback goes to normal and then slows down agian. If HDMI is plugged, I get a notification from action center that the intel HD family graphics driver had to restart, and I get it many times. which is really funny if you have a 8GB RAM and i7 processor and a 265gb SSD macine. I downloaded the newest intel HD graphics drivers from their website through Intel Driver Update Utility but couldn't install it due to some sort of incompatibility. They also advise that I'd better download drivers through the device manufacturer. So I then downloaded the original windows 7 graphics driver from lenovo website. I ran a full system scan by norton.Downloaded Lobit uninstaller and removed some apps.Downloaded CCleaner and removed a whole lot of cache!Ran AdwCleaner and also cleaned some files.I also did the steps within this link from lenovo forums https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-2-Pro-HD-playback-freezes-other-appli...still NON helped! please note that the I bought the macine with Windows 8.1 pre-installed and I upgraded it to Windows 10 with no problems what so ever. Hello, I am freaking out as I am typing this right now at 2 am as a couple of my key caps in the lower right hand corner just fell off the keyboard for no apparent reason. I tried putting them back on but the clips on the underside of the key caps seem to be broken. Is this covered under warranty? If so, will Lenovo send me a new keyboard or will I have to send the machine in? I really hope that Lenovo can send me one as I really need my machine and I am capable of replacing the keyboard on my own as I have serviced multiple ThinkPads in the past. Thanks in advance! Edit:I should mention that my warranty is good until January 12.

Hello everyone, I have recently bought a secondhand Lenovo Thinkpad T440. I am not able to find any information on my specific model online. My model: 20B7S22809. There is no information at all. I can find the general info of T440, but there are these different models, with different options.http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Withdraw/ThinkPad_T440This website is not showing my model. At the moment I?m living in India, but the laptop was bought in the Netherlands. I just purchased this laptop, I like it alot.   Using the HDMI port and the mini-display port, can I have 3 displays?   The internal touch screen, and then also the moniitor on the HDMI port AND a different monitor on the mini-display port.   That would be 3 displays. I'm just getting into Microsoft Flight Simulator and it will support 3 videos and I want to have all 3 running to get the most from the application. I want to be sure that it isn't either/or on the HDMI and Mini-Display Port, but that I can use both/and. Thanks in advance. Paul

I've had the X1 Carbon ThinkPad for around 9-10 months, and after about 4 or 5 months I began experiencing issues regarding the USB ports. I use this laptop for gaming as well as school work. The issues began very intermittently, with both USB ports failing (I use a microphone/headset, and a mouse), by seemingly turning off for 1-2 seconds, followed by them turning back on. 90% of the time the USB ports turned back on, but lately there are times where they do not, and I need to restart my computer to be able to use them again. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Drivers for my mouse and headset, as well as the USB drivers under Device Manager. Additionally, I adjusted my power settings to disable USB selective suspend settings, but that did not fix the issue either. By this point, the USB ports will both fail essentially as soon as I begin playing a video game, and at times when I have several tabs open using Google Chrome. Any advice on how to fix this issue?

HI I need a simple estimate of how long my  laptop's screen will last before I need to get it fixed. I cracked the LCD in the screen today, and it looks like there is nothing wrong with it at all unless one looks really closely, or if one looks at the screen from certain angles. I can see the point where the pressure was placed on the screen when i look directly at it, but it isn't too bad. I have to travel tomorrow to Haiti (talk about bad timing) and I need the laptop to work for the three weeks that I will be there. If it can last that long I will be very happy. Then I can fix it when I get back to the States. Below is the laptop information. If anyone knows anything please let me know! X201 Laptop (ThinkPad) - Machine Type 3626AF5

Hi, I recently bought a Yoga 500-14ISK Laptop (ideapad) - Machine Type 80R5 and have used it extremely rarely. I would say I've used it at a maximum of 30-40 hours. I have had some problems with the laptop but nothing that made it completely un-usable until now. On turning on the machine, the network wireless adapter acts strangely, often showing the airplane mode symbol in the task bar. I may or may not be able to connect to my Wifi network but less than 2 minutes later the entire Wifi adapter disappears from the OS, no longer having Wifi settings or being able to configure the Adapter via device manager. I've been told a fix for this may be turning the wireless off and on again via the BIOS but I can't figure out how I access it, considering the first screen I see is the loading symbol for Windows 10. Anyone got any advice? Harrison

I bought a used IBM Thinkpad T20 Thinkpad Type 2647-92U from eBay for use this semester on campus. It is in great shape and has a recent edition of Windows XP but an older version of MS Office which does not boot properly.

This computer was a part of a network and keeps trying to connect to it each time Windows loads. It came with a LinkSys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter 2.4 GHz 802.11g card.

The CD is an official copy; clean and has no scratches or nicks. The DVD/CD-ROM will boot other CD's such as music CD's and DVD films and data discs with MS Word files etc on them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yours,

Kyklopes

That T-20 is pretty long in the tooth. I suspect your optical drive either needs cleaning, or is worn beyond repair.
Did you try the CD in another drive as a double check?

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I have an IBM Thinkpad T40 model and i need to reformat my hard drive. My CPU is at 100% and i don't know how to fix this. I know i have some spyware in my hard drive but when i attempt to run my spyware removal program it won't delete all the files. So the only thing i can think of doing is reformatting but IBM doesn't provide you with an OS CD. How would i reformat my hard drive without the CD? If anyone has any suggestions besides reformatting please let me know...if i don't have to reformat it would save me a lot of time. Thanks in advance.

A:Does anyone own an IBM ThinkPad T40 model?

Dont know about the t40, but I have a g40, and used a R50 for a while. The hard drive has a hidden partition that holds the factory installation software of the programs your computer came out of the factory with. The T40 should be the same. To reinstall the os and reformat the hard drive, you either press the blue Access IBM button at start up or if that doesnt work press F11 at start up to initiate the sequence. This will restore your computer to factory fresh. You will have to download all of your updates over again both windows and drivers updates. But you will have a fresh subscription to the Anti Virus software when you are done. Be advised that this will erase any bios password except the administrator pasword. To erase teh Bios Admin password you have to send the machine back to IBM and if it is out of warranty they charge for it and dearly. Forgot to mention if you have replaced the Hard drive and installed your own copy of windows this will also not work.

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

Opinions and advice -- no spam please (thank you!) -- welcome.

Best to everyone...

A:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... Hello. I recently purchased a Thinkpad P-70 with an FHD screen, and I am disappointed to find only in the past week all of the various problems related to PWM and the latest Thinkpads. None of the posts here or on Reddit answer my question though.I see that my laptop came with the "equivalent part":00HN885 AUO 17.3 FHD IPS AGSDC 17.3 FHD IPS AG. According to the manual I found online, this has PWM.The other part listed on Lenovo's site is the following: SDC 17.3 FHD IPS AG 00HN886I cannot find any information on the part. From what I can tell, I have two options: 1> If the other part has no/better PWM then perhaps I can request an ips panel replacement since I do experience some issues. (I also have very sensitive eyes.) 2> Sell the computer. I don't know how, but I cannot hurt my eyesight AND know that I spent much on an otherwise very good laptop. I'd have to find a PWM-less external monitor even to use the laptop, and by then it's no longer a laptop.Would anyone here be able to advise me and investigate?Thank you.

Hoping someone can answer this.  We sell overstock new items (including computers).  We just received a shipment of HP EliteBook 820 G2 laptops (new & sealed).  Unfortunately, the outside of the box does not give me any information as to the processor type or speed other that an Intel Inside sticker on the outside of the box.  The product codes are P2C18UT#ABA,  P2C22UT#ABA.  Is there a way to tell by this code the processor type / speed / amt of ram on each of these?  I really do not want to have to crack the factory seal unless absolutely necessary.  Thanks in advance for any insight.

I think you can assume the ones you have are the same specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP3K33047 http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-EliteBook-840-G2-Notebook-PC-12.5-Display-Intel-Core-i5-5200U-Processor... They have the same processor but the Walmart model has an SSD and a higher resolution screen.

the motherboard type and serial # are printed on the motherboard itself.
All the extra info you listed is extraneous and useless info. the computer serial # should on the outside of the system (usually on the back)

You might be able to go to the manufactuer and tell them your model # and computer serial # to find it out also.

Using Windows 10. My usually well-behaved Yoga is extremely slow, won't let me switch to the desktop. Stays in Task View. Cursor moves with touchpad, but won't click--I have to use the touch screen to select items. Desktop icons have disappeared. What is wrong? Any help will be appreciated. TIA.

Is there an application (command line perferred) that can query a computer and get its model type and serial number. I know IBM Director can do this, but it requires a running agent on client computer.

A:How to query remote PC to get monitor model/type + serial

You could use PSEXEC from sysinternals to remotely run a command prompt on another computer. The systeminfo command will show you the model number in Windows XP. I am not sure how to get the serial number.
