Preferred Solution: T460s replacement screen 1366 by a 1920?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just purchased a T520 laptop. It seems pretty great but unfortunately I opted for the 15.6" HD (1366x768) screen.I'd love to upgrade but have no idea of the best way to go about doing this. The best option I've found is to buy the 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) screen on ebay and replace it myself. Is the T520 40 pin? Is this a good approach? Thanks for any advice!

It'd void your warranty... Maybe consider sending it back and reordering it with a FHD panel? It's also pretty hard to source the exact same 95% gamut panel found from the factory, but not impossible:forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=94601

I broke my T460s' QHD non-touch screen (grabbed the laptop by the bezel and cracked the screen, this was never a problem on my older Thinkpads :/), and shopping for a replacement is actually a little tricky. On the back of the screen, I see:VVX14T058J0216023TP/N SD10G56715FRU 00NY406 I went to the pcsupport.lenovo.com website to look for the replacement part numbers, and it says 00NY406 and 00HN877 in the list. However there's a little dropdown on 00NY406 that says "Substitutes (2)", and shows 00HN878 and 00NY413 as well. This is the tricky part: I see in the pictures for the 00HN878, and the stickers actually say 00HM878, and VVX14T058J0016042T. Are all 40 pin connector screens with the same mounting holes compatible? When searching ebay or Amazon or aliexpress the sellers seem to suggest any of the 40 pin connector screens are cross compatible. I'm a little hesitant to buy a screen that I'm not 100% sure will fit. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I need a replacement for my H key and hinges for my T460s.  The only site that has keys for the T460s is www.quikfixlaptopkeys.com and they seem to be perpetually out of stock of the H key, both back lit and non back lit.  Lenovo in their wisdom refuses to sell individual keys and only sells the whole keyboard.  I'd be willing to pay good money if someone has trashed their computer for their fully functionl H key hinges, or if someone knows for sure of a place that sells T460s keys.  Every other site that I've searched so far only goes as high as 430 or so.  Help!!!!

Hi all, Quick question on battery replacements.. I have a T460s whose second battery recently showed it was having issues (on 46% of max charge available). I thought replacing the battery would be trivial but this is proving an exercise in futility. For reference the laptop type is: 20F9The battery in question is FRU: 01AV406 When I check this battery against the replacements site (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/partslookup), it indicates that the battery is out of stock. It also indicates that there are a few replacement options, 01AV407, 01AV408, 01AV405. All of which are also not in stock. After chatting with support on this issue, I was advised to call the parts department a partner - Encompass. Unfortunately, their department closes at 3pm PST which is pretty annoying. However when I search for the part (01AV406) on their website (https://lenovo.encompass.com), I'm left with an additional alternative 01AV462 (also out of stock but at least in stock 1/29). My question is, which of these sites to believe or are these all compatible? I find this a little absurd that this information is so unclear and annoying that Lenovo can't keep anything in stock.Double all that since I want to replace my primary battery as well (which will be back in stock on 3/10/19). Insert eye roll here. Any advice anyone can shed here would be apprciated or any other tips for getting these batteries replaced.

I would believe them on compatibility, but expected ship dates are always less reliable.  I always think that I only believe ship dates after parts actually ship.  My doubling ship dates is for all vendors, not just this one.

I hope this helps!

I purchased this computer in January of 2014 with Windows 7 OS. About a year or so later I upgraded to the current Windows 10. It performed great with the Windows 7 but after getting Windows 10 it occasionally freezes up and the screen resolution reverts to 640 X 480. When I go to the display options to fix the problem the one and only option is the 640 X 480. It should be 1920 X 1080. When I manually change it back it will not work. Usually, after about one to three days it goes back to its normal setup and when I go to the display options the full broad range of options are available.
BTW it says in my computer info above that my Windows Defender is disabled but when I checked it everything was OK and up to date. Please help. This is very aggravating.

Hey guys,
I'm sorry to post yet another thread about this problem, but having gone through all the ones posted (and resolved) so far, I'm convinced my laptop has developed some other problem than the ones people have listed so far.
Basically, what happened is that my Lenovo Z580 laptop (15.6 inch screen) running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, which usually runs at a screen resolution of 1366*768 suddenly switched to 1280*800 following a system restart. There is a vertical black bar on the right side of the screen, and there is no option to increase the screen resolution beyond 1280*800 (I am currently using 1280*768, but it's still terrible). I have updated my graphics driver several times now (Generic PnP Monitor, Intel HD 4000 Graphics), but to no avail. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong with my system? Would a system restore help (the problem started after I restarted my laptop following an iTunes update)?
Any help is much appreciated!

A:Can't change screen resolution back to 1366*768 on Windows 7 Ultimate

Do you have different options available under the first tab labeled Display? Is it showing the correct type or is there something else there?
Try clicking detect and see if anything changes in the display description.
You say you installed drivers for a generic PnP display, that is not what you have. Maybe download the driver from Lenovo website for that exact laptop model.

Periodically someone will go to turn their laptop on, and the green light on the power button will light up, but the screen stays blank.  If you press and hold the power button for a count of ten or more until the green light goes out and press it again to turn it on, all that happens is the green light comes back on.  I've disconnected the power adapter and did the same thing with the same result.  The only thing that has worked is removing the bottom panel and disconnecting the internal battery and CMOS battery for a few minutes.

Yesterday, it also showed a blue screen when this happened with a stop code IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.Please advise on what is going on with my T460s and what should I do. Thank you,Chander Shekhar Sharma

After reading several threads in this forum, I decided to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 16GB. I followed the sequence to disable the internal battery first, then remove and put back in the new RAM. However, when I power it up, the keyboard light was on and then off, but the screen still black with power button light on. I have tried the suggestion here but did not work. (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Lenovo-Thinkpad-T460s-not-booting/td-p/4... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-Lenovo-turns-on-but-has-a-black-bl...)where I disconnect the two battery and the internal CMOS battery and then press the power button 3 times and last time holds longer. But it did not help. Could someone give me some suggestions?  Thank you in advance.

I have a brand new T460s to replace an X250. I hook this up through the pro dock to two Dell U2415 monitors at 1900x1200 each.  I use hdmi but display port does the same. My monitors are mounted at 90 degrees and 270 degrees to go "top to top" where the bezel is smallest. I then collage them into a single monitor using the intel driver. Basically, this creates a 1920 x 2400 workspace with the top of each monitor running vertically down the middle. I need the extra vertical space for worksheets and verticals give each screen a full word page at a great size.  On my old X250 with the Intel HD graphics 5500, there is a row in the graphics display adapter to rotate each monitor separately to either 0. 90, 180 or 270. I set these for each monitor separately - one to 90, the other to 270 - then collage the two screens together.  on the new T460s, there is no option to do this. The row to rotate each monitor is missing. This is true even if no monitors are attached.  Researching intel's site they show the row but say manufacturers might turn it off.  Using control panel to rotate doesn't work as it treats everything as one side by side or vertical - it cannot do head to head. If you collage it, it gives a bad result.  Questions: Can I get a version of the HD 520 driver for the T460s that allows rotating each monitor? What version number and where can I get it? alternatively, can I install another driver on th... Read more

My son dropped my T460s from a low drawer table (<50cm height). Right after that I checked and something must have cracked around the left screen hinge. I believe the hinge itself is not broken. Opening up the lid pulls the hinge properly and you don't see any problem: But when closing down the rear cover pushes the hinge and something is loose there, so it bends dangerously: Following some instructions on the internet I was able to remove the front adhesive screen bezel cover and check the screen hinge part. It all looked ok there. I also removed the exposed screen side hinge screws, and I did not see what was broken. Maybe that part is fine but it is detached from the rear cover somewhere else around there. This device is out of warranty, so I want to check what are my repair options:- What exactly is broken? Do I need a rear cover replacement?- Is it something doable by myself? I don't find videos from Lenovo on how to do this, only some amateurish one in Youtube.- If this is not enough information for diagnostic, what else should I inspect?- Is this something I could ask Lenovo to repair? How much would that cost? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks, Jose
