Is there a list with the latest Windows drivers per OS ?

Q: Is there a list with the latest Windows drivers per OS ?

Short intro: i'm a sysadmin and recently joined this forum. Mainly to train myself in analyzing BSOD's and whilst doing that, helping people out. Now the reason i became interested in BSOD's is because of BSOD's at work.

We use SCCM for staging. With a task-sequence, the OS, drivers and what not are being deployed.
Now, our company is fairly large +5000 employees and its structure is pretty complex. i'm not getting in to that but bottom line is that there are several IT-branches and 1 central IT branch. The central IT branch creates and maintain the staging image.

Currently we are on Windows 7. Now having said all that , our image contains old drivers.
Our main problems is with 2 USB drivers. Since the drivers our from 2013 , i know these should be updated.

Now, my question in (and i'm afraid the answer will be "no") , is there a website that lists the latest drivers (name & date) for windows 7 (or per OS for that matter?).

I can't just say, i'll enable Windows Updates and download all updates that are presented.
But these drivers should be updates i'm sure.

I have come across this tool named Snappy Driver Installer (Snappy Driver Installer)
Its free and is a sort of offline library for drivers. But i'm hesitant towards such tools. Tools like "driver booster" etc all do more harm than good and so i'm unsure about SDI as well. I did run this tool on an off-domain box and for sure it immediately pointed out (not installed nor did it suggest to install) outdated drivers. The USB drivers were (as expected) on that list.

So i hope i didn't make this post to long but for those that don't want to read as much:

Us there a website (or something else) that lists the latest drivers (name & date) for windows 7 (or per OS for that matter?).

Preferred Solution: Is there a list with the latest Windows drivers per OS ?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Is there a list with the latest Windows drivers per OS ?

The short answer has to be no.

The longer answer - there has to be an MS database for Win 10 in particular which Win 10 uses to maintain drivers (it uses a different paradigm for drivers to previous OS's). I can't imagine it's viewable.
But it doesn't always represent the 'latest' drivers for a particular device.

And as you know, manufacturers release custom drivers, particularly for laptops.

Clearly driver scanning tools (not in general recommended) make reference to some database- but again, this isn't likely to be viewable. (There's competition between these tools!)

Then there are the many sites that supposedly host drivers. And all the hardware variants and versions..

So the answer is there's no simple answer.

OK so i had been through the whole beta driver scenario with amd's latest windows 8 drivers and it resulted in bsod's...which led me to download and install the stable but old drivers which led to my games having fps drops ,which i think is related to the drivers because with the beta drivers i was getting good fps's , not so much with the stable one's , anyways the question is should i go back to windows 7 because many people including myself are having compatibility issues with windows 8,windows 8.1 when it comes to amd's beta drivers( or just their drivers in general), while the vast majority are having no problems with their windows 7.

Hey guys, I am having an issue where I am trying to update to the latest ATI drivers which are 10.12 released 12/13/2010. I go into device manager and find my video card (ati 5850) and when I try and update my drivers it says the correct one is already installed. Problem is these drivers are outdated (8.791). I have tried to uninstall these drivers and install the new ones from the website but the new ones will not install. I do not get any installation errors trying to install the new ones, but after I install them I go to device manager and it still lists the old ones as being the current drivers. Another issue I'm having is when I uninstall the drivers from device manager, it uninstall the whole card as well. I hit the "detect new hardware" and it finds my card and immediately downloads the older drivers and I cannot stop this process. I disabled windows from automatically updating drivers and it still downloads the drivers after the card and drivers get uninstalled. This is extremely frustrating, I have no idea what else I can do. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I am running win7 64bit.

A:Windows won't let me update to latest ATi drivers

Hello there, Rynzo, according to what i read, 8.791 on the device manager is the latest version:

So i guess there's no problem with your Drivers.. if you're not completely satisfied, you could run Driver Sweeper (after uninstalling ATI Drivers) and install them again

There is a battery draining bug in the latest ( synaptics drivers. This is true in both the Windows 10 and Windows 7 drivers. One of synaptics processes is pooling the WMI quite frequently using about 1% of the cpu, non-stop. This has been fixed in the windows 10 drivers on the Yoga. There is a detailed writeup on this here: https://randomascii.wordpress.com/2017/09/05/hey-synaptics-can-you-please-stop-polling/ Reverting back to the drivers fixes this, although they were quite hard to find for Windows 7. Lenovo, please fix this.

The trackpad drivers will not install with the latest 10 build version. you can only move the cursor with the trackpad, gestures and buttons do not work. I am going to give up on windows 10 if I can not find a solution fast. Phone support has been all but worthless from lenovo. This machine is only out of warranty for 3 months, I find it kind of silly that you can get no phone help when you tell them its a driver issue and all your asking is will there be an update for the driver or should I just give up. Why not have a way for techs to get this information to the department that could fix this instead of dismissing me as a customer who is out of warranty. I find it ridicoulous that windows updates cause drivers to fail and how microsoft forces windows 10 and its customers to use windows 10. If lenovo is not going to support windows 10 on older machines they should have a bulletin about it so that users dont get frustrated about the expierence. I have attached a pic of the failed driver install

Hi guys!

Ive been looking around on the internet to see which drivers work best with Windows 7 and it seems like 185.85 seems to be the best. But i was wondering as the post i found was from 2009, is there any of the new drivers working better with windows 7? I did see that 314.22 worked for some.

Anyway thanks for the help,

A:Latest Nvidia 9800GT Drivers that work with Windows 7?

My missus has a 9800GT and it runs everything as good as could be with 314.22 drivers. Even with my GTX 560 i run the same driver's. No point in going with the latest unless there is some fix for certain games and your model of card. This is really all they bring new drivers out for fixing game bugs and making newer cards more compatible.

Lenovo Ideapad Y500: 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Dual Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 2GB

OK, my problem is: No version newer than the GeForce 307.64 Driver will allow me to utilize SLI.

If you wanna see what I mean, here's the before and after.

My problem isn't really the fact that a whole year's worth of bugfixes, security and performance updates have gone away. I can live with that. My problem is, if I use the old driver that allows for me to run in SLI mode, any game that supports SLI causes my laptop to crash (with no BSOD, so I can't get any sort of error code) immediately after it runs. One weird thing is (see Part2): It still shows I have 4GB of vRAM even though only one 2GB graphics card is actually being utilized.

Can someone help me or give me some advice? It's a little frustrating.

It's the difference between holding steady at 60 with vsync in high/ultra on most games or being barely able to run it at all above medium/high.

TL;DR: Updated to Windows 8.1. SLI support went away for the last year of revisions of Nvidia GeForce drivers. Crashes every time I run games in SLI mode on the driver that actually supports it.

A:Updated to Windows 8.1. No SLI Support for latest Nvidia Drivers.

Seems to be common issue with this model: https://www.google.ca/search?q=windows+8.1+sli+site:forums.lenovo.com&espv=210&es_sm=122

Doesn't seem to be a solution yet, you will have to wait for fix from Lenovo or NVidia or go back to Windows 8 or 7.

Hi!I see there are a lot of questions regarding the Radeon Video Display drivers.Anyone else experience this:After the latest patching of the Radeon video drivers last week (12th. of August) my screen turned black. If I try to reboot the display freeze after about 15 seconds - during the boot process (with the dots going around under the HP logo!) It took some time before I realized what was wrong, so I completely reinstalled the Windows 10 OS twice. So this is what happens:- I completely wipe the HD with a new Windows 10 installation.- I get a notification that the Radeon video driveres is not optimal.- And after about 20-30 minutes the screen goes black.- If I try to reboot, the machine is stuck on the HP logo with the dots going around! I did this procedure twice before I understood that nothing is actually wrong with the computer. The second time I managed to change the boot procedure so I could press F8 and push the machine into Safe boot. So now the goal is to find correct drivers, and downgrade in Safe mode. Anyone tried that? Is there a trick, maby download the drivers on another machine and bring them over using a USB stick? Kind regards,Jarle

A:Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 8

Currently experiencing some sporadic problems with this driver. Basically, I get pink/purple artifacts across the screen and then the system locks up. Sometimes it is able to recover, but sometimes it automatically reboots. It's not the card, as it is working perfectly in the other OSes with the latest appropriate drivers.

Been checking the NVidia forums about this, and I'm not the only one with this problem: Windows 8 Graphic Glitch - NVIDIA Forums and Windows 8 Consumer Preview Geforce Desktop/Notebook Driver Information - NVIDIA Forums - Page 6 describes the symptoms I'm getting perfectly.

It should be pointed out though that issues were present with the graphics drivers with the Beta versions of Windows 7 as well (not necessarily the same issues, but issues nonetheless). Hopefully, these will be ironed out over time.

Hello =)
First of all, thank you so much in advance for reading and any possible help or suggestions to my problem.
My PC has been running fine until last night. After a crash, I tried a normal restart. But as soon as the *loading windows* sign appears, everything turns and remains black.
I can since, only run my PC in safety mode. I have figured out that when I remove the graphic card from the Devise Manager, I am able to boot up my PC normal again and run windows 7 again smoothly.
The issue is, whenever I try to install NVIDIA drivers again, the PC wont boot up, the same issue will occur again with a  black screen&only safety mode. If I use an older driver, windows will boot up, but then my Graphic-software (I need for work) wont run and tells me to *update my NVIDIA* drivers.
I am a bit at the end with ideas of what it could be or how to bypass those issues. I find it odd that until last night, the latest NVIDIA drivers did run on my machine, till the crash happened. So perhaps it is something else?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Drivers should...be obtained from:
  a.  System manufacturer's website, if laptop or other OEM system (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.)
  b.  Motherboard CD or component manufacturer's website, if system is self-built.
  c.  The CD which came with the system/component (reflects known working drivers).
The drivers available via Windows Update...should generally NOT be used unless you are totally desperate and cannot find them anywhere else or any other way, IMO.

Okay. This combination of drivers works fine in windows vista 32 bit.. boots up fine and everything. Today I finally got my SSDD for my OS and a copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I installed it fine without error. Then installed my chipset drivers that I downloaded off of Nvidia's website (64 bit, worked fine, rebooted), installed my nvidia display drivers, rebooted.. now whenever I start windows up. I get the flowery blue background windows logo. It just hangs there and never boots. However it will boot fine into safe mode and AFTER I uninstall the display drivers... though my gaming computer is going to be pretty useless if I can't game with it!

Relevant Info

Asus Striker II Formula (with 15.58 64 bit drivers installed)
2x SLI EVGA Geforce 560 TI 448 Special Edition (with64 bit 310.90 Drivers Installed)

I am going to try installing the motherboard chipset drivers from Asus's website to see if that helps any.. i believe the version number is 15.43, then try reinstalling the video drivers.. however I dont think this is going to make much a difference.

If anyone out there can help. Please. I need it.

Hello,Today I updated my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th Gen with the latest drivers recommended by Lenovo Vantage program, as well as the latest Windows 10 Pro updates. After conducting those updates, I can no longer sign in using the Fingerprint sensor. When I open the Device Manager to check the status of the Biometric Device driver, it shows the following message: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"The sign in option using the fingerprint does not even show up in the Windows settings for Sign In. Things I have already tried:1) Update the driver through the Device Manager 2) Download and reinstall the fingerpring driver from the Lenovo drivers website3) Reset fingerprint settings in the BIOS and making sure it is enabled4) Change configuration in "gpedit.msc" -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> windows components -> biometrics -> allow the use of biometrics and allow users to log on using biometrics set to enabled None of the 4 attempts above solved the problem. Can anyone please provide any solution for this case? It looks like a lot of people have been experiencing this issue and no one from Lenovo provided a clear and definitive solution. The latest drivers must have bugs and, in my opinion, Lenovo must stop distributing them until this issue is fixed. Thank you very much.Best.

Where is there a list of all the drivers already built into the various versions of Windows?

Hint: Windows "Add new hardware" wizard doesn't list them all.

Example: I would like to have a list of all video card drivers already built into Windows. I would like to have a list of all modem drivers built into Windows. I would like to have a list of all network card drivers already built into Windows.

I'm lazy and I would like to use that list to make hardware selections so when I plug them in, I don't have to load drivers; Windows loads them automatically after inserting the card and turning the computer on.

Hi, I have been using only my A/V and my spyware.malware applications for 3 years and doing fine. The other day I mistakenly added the patch for Windows XP that was for a protection program and I can't even remember if the new protection from XP which has been out for a long time was "Protect" or "Defend".....only a part of the name and I don't know how to find the list of these recently added patches.
The reason that I want to uninstall this Windows patch is b/c it is disabling my spyware/malware app that has been performing well since I bought and installed it several years ago.
I hope experienced users can point me to where this list is and where this patch is described and also advise if I am able to delete this error of an install which I have avoided all this time until now. Presently I have to activate my spyware/malware app since my foolish addition of this patch and I do not want to compromise my well working system of some several years.
Thank you for your time.

Hello all. My laptop used work perfectly until the day I decided to remove all the extra stuff by doing a clean install of Windows 10.  I predownloaded all the drivers I would need and then did the clean installation.  Now I have an issue with my wifi.  It randomly drops connection to wifi and is slow to start working again.  After coming out of sleep it does not automatically reconnect to the ap and I have to trigger it manually.  Separately (i think) when coming out of sleep, the login screen does not respond to the keyboard and I am forced to use the mousepad to click or a touchscreen swipe to get to the password field. What I'm seeking is an official list of drivers that are required for a clean windows 10 install on a thinkpad yoga series 20CD.  If order of installation is critical, please give this also.  I believe I downloaded everything available from the support page but just want to be sure.  Sometimes not all drivers are available when filtering by OS "Windows 10".   Thanks in advance. Laptop specs are:512gb ssdmemory card slot2.4/5 n/ac wireless 7260ac w/bluetooth

I need to see a list of all of the drivers that are running or stopped on my computer. I know how to pull up a list in cmd prompt, but that doesn't tell me if the driver is running or if it's stopped.

I called HP for help setting up the fax portion of my new HP wireless printer. The tech remoted in and after trying something with the fax and telling me he was disconnected. Checked a few other things and showed me a window very similar to the one in the picture. It showed about 90% of my system drivers as "stopped". He wanted to run a scan and charge me $99 to fix the problem. I told him to forget it. I called for help setting up my fax, and that everything was working fine yesterday and that I sent a fax on my previous printer yesterday, without a problem. He told me that rebooting my computer wouldn't help. I told him I would try anyway then ended the remote session.

I'm convinced he did something to my computer and was trying to rip me off by charging me money to fix something he did. Yes, I am 100% sure that I was connected with Hewlett Packard. I looked up their toll free number myself and called it. I don't let just anyone remote into my computer.

What I need is a list like the one in the picture, so I can see for myself.

Like I said, I managed to see the list in CMD prompt, but it doesn't say whether the driver is running or stopped.

Right. Quite a major error here, relegating me to my netbook, but here we go...
I recently (Last week) recieved my new baby- a quad core, 1 GB GPU, 4 GB RAM system, with 1 TB HDD. A step up from the last rig that died, roughly 4 times better, in fact.

Well, my adoration was short lived.
Installed Windows 7.
Installed the ASUS drivers from the CD.
Downloaded the latest ATI drivers from the website.
Downloaded Steam, and the recently purchased L4D2.
REALLY good.

Here, the first problems reared their heads...
L4D2 would suddenly hang at random, whether there was lots of onscreen or system activity or not, but just for a few moments.
Then, it would be a task manager stop-process job.
Then, upon boot... SHOCK, BSOD!
With an atikmpag.sys error.
Using nouse, I googled this on a seperate machine.
After MUCH trawling, I found it may be the video driver-
So, safe mode boot, uninstall driver, notice vertical bands of discolourment on resolutions of 1280x1024...
More pixelated patches of discolour on lower res.
Anyway, boots up fine minus drivers.
After much experimenting trying to get the drivers back, without using the ATI Catalyst manager, which can apparently cause issues, I decided to **ck it, and install XP, which doesn't get the atikmpag.sys error.
It just wipes all the drivers off the motherboard; IE sound, wireless adaptor, GPU, etc.

Hi folks,
When windows 10 was first released I downloaded it and burned to DVD using the media creation tool from Microsoft.
As windows 10 has now had a major update, and I want to create a DVD with that update on it, without having to reinstall it later, as I have other partitions on my computer to update to 10 as well.
So my query is, does anyone know if I was to download windows 10 32 bit from Microsoft again (using the media creation tool from Microsoft) will it include the latest major update to 10?
Thanks for any help

A:Is windows 10 latest big update included in latest media creation tool

Microsoft has made available a download able iso for win 10 1511. If you don't see download link on win pc then try on some other device.. like an android phone or tablet. That's how I got it downloaded and had clean installed. Hope this helps.

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

What are the latest drivers for my nVidia GeForce 8600GT?
I know, old card, and yes I know that as far as the nVidia Website states, it is 180.48
But when I've tried to install these drivers in XP AND Vista (Seperate OS's. Seperate Drivers) it says that my hardware is incompatable then closes.
any ideas?

A:What are my latest drivers?

Is your systems running? If so - and it's only a driver issue - update your systems at Microsoft Updates, and instead of using Express mode after validation is verified, use the custom button instead. On the left side it should show you hardware updates and drivers.

Hi Guys

I have just finished installing my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, So I thought I would start updating my Drivers.

I have the EVGA nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX Graphics Card.

I went onto nVidia's website, and downloaded the driver for the 8 Series, but when I try installing the drivers, I get an error pop-up saying that the driver is suited for Windows Vista and Windows 7 only !

It is strange because I am on Windows 7, yet it won't install

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quick tip in vista and win 7 sometimes drivers need to be installed in compatibility mode as admin. sometime from a safe boot.

You sure its the right driver? right OS 32, or 64?

Hi Guys,

I installed windows 7 x64 and I don't know whether I have the latest drivers. For some it is obvious eg gfx drivers but for the chipsets ( I have intel P35 desktop) it is more difficult.

I installed the "Intel? Chipset Identification Utility" for my chipset but a lot of my intel drivers from I look at the device manager have driver dates from 2006 e.g.

Intel P35 Express Chipset Processor, all the Intel ICH9 drivers...

Would this be considered up-to-date? I'm thinking these are just simple drivers etc and they wouldnt be updated too often.

I also see in Device Manager quite a few generic names like "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" is this meant to be the case or should i get more specialised drivers?

A:how do you know if you have the latest drivers?

The only thing you can do is go to your MB manufacturers site and see if they have windows seven 64 bit drivers for your chipset ect. And check the date on the drivers available.

Does anybody know if such a driver is availed and where it can be downloaded?

Hi: HP does not support any model built before August of 2013 for W10. However, I looked at the product specs for your PC, and I don't see any reason why it can't run W10. There are drivers for some of the individual hardware components such as the audio and ethernet, directly from the hardware manufacturer's websites. I also recommend you install the W8 Intel chipset driver from your PC's support page which will install the correct motherboard drivers, rather than the generic ones W10 installs. However, I would have no idea what caused your PC to crash on you. I'm running a similar series 6 chipset, 2nd generation core processor HP business desktop PC, and have not had any problems since upgrading to W10 and its subsequent updates. I do have a graphics card in mine though, so I can't vouch for how good the onboard Intel graphics works on W10. If the onboard graphics is causing your PC to crash, you may want to invest in a cheap but good video card, such as the nVidia GT 610, which has driver support for W10. Audio:  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the 2nd driver on the list. http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT... Latest Crimson Edition Drivers seems to crash repeatedly on desktop "Display Driver has stopped and has recovered" again and again once you hit the desktop, sometimes when you run a game or something that is related to the graphics. The only solutions was to Disable the drivers, downgrade to Win 7/8.1 or install a 14.12 Omega which is what I'm using right now. I've tried using DDU and TdrDelay, still no good. Right now the 14.12 omega is stable but playing games doesn't seem to give me a good framerate since it's outdated. Any workaround or reason why it crashes?

Well, we often hear/read that we should update our drivers regularly, as the newest versions provide more security/stability/functionality/other enhancements. On the other hand OEM manufacturers want their customers to rely only on drivers available on their own support pages, not on components manufacturers (e.g. Intel) support pages.

Due to my professional and personal interest I often deal with Dell, HP and Lenovo laptops, but I guess it's a common problem for all OEMs. What I see on their support pages in a complete mess in many aspects. Let me tell only a couple of examples:
"downgrading" the latest drivers - if you downloaded e.g. version 1.45 yesterday, today you may find version 1.42 marked as latest with no explanation at all, offering different version of the same driver on different localized support sites (while the driver is in English anyway),an update client (e.g. Dell's Client Update Utility, HP's SoftPaq) offering you to download older driver than you have already installed OR driver which is not even listed on the support webpage, ancient drivers versions presented as "latest" (especially Lenovo is the leader here) - while virtually all manufacturers provides significantly updated driver versions, OEM manufacturers make you stick to the version released months ago (I understand it takes time to test new releases, but come on...),Windows Update overwriting OEM manufacturers drivers with its own drivers recorded in its database,... and many ... Hello community,

I"m having an issue with my display drivers and vista. I have Vista Business x64 with the NVidia FX3800 running dual Acer x223w's. Everything was fine until SP2 was installed a while back. Now, any time the systems starts, is rebooted, goes to sleep, or is locked the secondary monitor is no longer detected by Windows. I've discovered that by trying a combination of turning the monitor on and off, or unplugging and replugging it I can eventually get it to be detected again. But as you can imagine this is very frustrating and annoying to do every time. Additionally, the sequence of what works getting the monitor detected again seems to be different every time. I've tried a few different drivers from NVidia and all seem to have this problem. I'm currently running the latest drivers (191.00). Is this a known bug? Is it being addressed by either nvidia or MS?

any idea on how to solve this?

Thanks for the time.

A:Nvidia's latest drivers (191.00)

I'm kind of guessing on your video card but they just had driver updates. I'm pretty sure for all the cards / OS's version should be 191.07 Release Date: 2009.10.05 hop that works for you that sounds annoying

Hi guys I have an issue with the latest AMD Drivers on my Windows 10 Pro x64. Whenever I have the Crimson edition or 15.++ drivers (15.3 onwards) it crashes or gives a BSOD. The crash occurs repeatedly once you reach the desktop screen until you hit a BSOD but sometimes it shows a BSOD while logging in, the screen flickers a lot (white or sometimes black). The solutions so far was to install a 14.12 omega catalyst or revert to Windows 7. TdrDelay and letting Windows 10 updating it from their own doesn't work either. BSOD error is VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE atikmpag.sys which happens sometimes before reaching desktop or if the desktop crashes too many times. Is there any work around for this? 14.12 works but it gives limited FPS since it's outdated. Thanks!
