Windows 8.1 1080p Display Issue

Q: Windows 8.1 1080p Display Issue

Hi, I have an HP Envy Touchsmart 15t-j100 Quad Edition Laptop, running Windows 8.1.

When I finished the setup process, I immediately download Chrome, since IE was the only browser pre-installed. Now, I've never used Windows 8.1 or 8 before and am totally new to this new Metro UI and Charms thing (so far I hate it) so as you can imagine I ran into problems immediately.

I will post the full specs of my laptop below, but just know that it has a 1920x1080 display and an Nvidia GeForce GT 740M graphics card.

When I opened Chrome for the first time, it launched as an app. Everything was okay about it, except I didn't like the new concept of "Apps" and Microsoft's idea of multitasking. So naturally I relaunched it in Desktop Mode. However, I noticed that the text (on the URL bar, the buttons, and the tabs, as well as web content) looked much blurrier than it had in Windows 8 mode.

I looked around for a while for a solution, and found it. You simply had to go to the Chrome properties, go to Compatibility, and check "disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Now, of course I had no idea what that meant, but when I relaunched Chrome everything was fine again, except for one problem.

Everything was unnaturally small. The tabs, the URL bar, the refresh, back/forward buttons, menu button, and extensions were all smaller than they were in Windows 8 mode and in desktop mode with display scaling.

Compare the 2 screenshots below:

Chrome with display scaling:
Chrome with display scaling disabled:
You might think this is a small thing, but I believe it's a symptom of a bigger problem. The cursor is abnormally small, too. I've tried changing it to a larger one, but the spinning animations don't get bigger in proportion with the pointer.

Any input would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

its because of windows 8.1 new dpi setting for all displays as one so you need to go right click your desktop then choose screen resolution then on the left pick make things bigger or larger and then check the box in that new window for setting it for all displays then apply it and log off(sign out) on next log in you should be all good also make sure you have the latest drivers for your gpu off nvidia's site. here's a guide for it too [Fix] Bold, Blurry or Hard to Read Font Problem in Windows 8.1 - AskVG

Hi, I'm trying to use my TV as a monitor with HDMI but I am having problems. I have a 32" 1080p Insignia TV (model number ns-32l450a11) whose native resolution is reported to be 1920x1080 on all specs listings I could find on the internet. However, the 1920x1080 option only outputs in 30Hz, with considerable latency. The color quality and image clarity is fine, but the image needs to be overscanned. I was able to find a workaround in the form of a custom driver someone made, and unlocked it to 60Hz. With this, the TV maintains the high input lag. I tried changing to any available option and I found that 1280x768 operates with very little lag , comparable to my other monitor. Does this mean that this TV actually has a 5:3 native aspect ratio? What I want to know is, is there any way to get 1080p to happen with the same small amount of lag as 1280x768, or perhaps if there is a way I can use a higher resolution in 5:3 ratio? Do Nvidia/Intel based machines have this issue?

A:1080p TV display latency in 16:9?

It's not a PC (ie: nVidia or Intel) issue. It's a TV issue. This is a common problem when using TV's as a monitor. Most TV's suffer from the same problem. They aren't designed to function for your intended use. Hence the reason monitors cost more than a comparable sized TV, even though a TV has additional hardware to meet it's function (as a TV).

Hi! I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and the built-in screen is 4k. I need to use the lower 1920x1080 resolution quite often, because most of the applications I use won't scale to 4k (for example GIMP).  When I right-click Graphic settings (Intel) -> Resolution -> 1920 x 1080 on the desktop, the display is all blurry, even after I log out and log back in. Everything looks blurry, not just some apps, all of them. Also the Windows 10 UI is blurry. Also, if I turn off my computer when using 1920 x 1080 the display won't turn on next time. I have to close the lid, open it and press the power button (wake from sleep) at least three times before the display turns on. After I log in there's always some message saying "You are not using recommended resolutio..." etc. This is very annoying, what should I do? Looking forward to your reply.Best regards,SankoWeb

I am trying to get my home theater system to play Blu-Ray disks via my HTPC (Home Theater PC) I have just upgraded the ATI drivers for the video card and I still have two issues. First when I play a BRD via PowerDVD Ultra V7.3 the program opens Ok but when I put in a BRD I get a message saying the color scheme is being changed to Windows basic. The BRD plays fine on the PC but on the video display the PowerDVD interface comes up but the picture area is black, no movie, nothing. The cloned PC display showes just fine on the 1080p video display.

The other issue is the desktop freezing ...kind of. If the system sits idle for a while the display freezes, but the system is still working OK, it's as if I took a screen capture and set it as a background. The mouse moves but nothing is clickable. To get out of the I have to do a Ctrl, Alt, Delete and when the window opens close it and all is well till the system sits for a will and it's the same thing.
Computer system:

Intel 6600 2.40 GHz

2 GB memory

Video card ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB of memory

Video Display:

Sony VPL-VW40 1080p connected to the PC via HDMI

Any PC that has any type of external display connector can handle 1080p. VGA might have been a problem since not all TVs accept VGA (and not always 1080p when they do), but DisplayPort and HDMI have supported 1080p since they were introduced on laptops around 2009.

Hey guys,

So I recently switched to a 1080p Display... a Dynex television. When I first plugged my HDMI in, I noticed that the resolution was very poor and most of the images (especially text) were very blurry. So, I simply forced 1080p using the Intel Graphics panel, made a custom aspect ratio, and voila, things are now scaling properly. However, for some reason, the text seems to be very hazy. More specifically, the text has this sort of "glowing" effect, where each character is border by a shade slightly brighter than the background color. This is causing the text to look cloudy, and is agonizing to read. Besides this the quality seems to refuse to get any better no matter how high I make the resolution. Even though everything scales properly now, the quality is to poor to bear. My television does not have an Overscan or Autoscan feature, and it does not have an option to change the aspect ratio (it's sort of an old tv).

DPI scaling is already at its lowest setting and all my other windows scaling settings are at their minimum.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Andrew M

Ok, so our math skills tells us that 1080p on a 4K screen SHOULD be as sharp as a native 1080p screen. However I can't seem to make that happen unless I use a virtual machine (VMware) and set it to 1080p. In this case Windows thinks the screen is 1080p and there's no blurriness whatsoever. If you set the screen to 1080p without using VMware then Windows will use anti-aliasing which results in a blurry screen. We know the hardware can do it... so the question is: How can we make Windows think the 4K display is 1080p (so that anti-aliasing is not used)?Brgds... /Thomas

Hello Everyone,
I'm building a computer and have all of the components (just need to finish putting them together). Now, I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 card and was hoping to watch Blu-Ray videos on my current monitor which is an HP w19b. The monitor has a maximum resolution of 1440x900.

From what I understand of HD technology, this would mean that no, the monitor would not be able to handle the full 1080p resolution, but it should be able to display 720p.

But here is the question, will my current monitor be able to display ANYTHING from the Blu-Ray player?

I think the confusion comes in when I see these monitors that advertise HD capable, but I thought all monitors were HD capable, you just need to know what resolution you are trying to display the HD at, 720p or 1080p.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Nate

A:Display 1080P with Sapphire Radeon HD 4850

You will be able to watch your Blu-Ray movies on your computer in full screen with no problems assuming, of course, that you have a Blu-Ray drive in your computer. Since you monitor supports a resolution up to 1440*900, the image of a 1080p movie will be scaled down a bit to fit your screen, but the image itself won''t be cut off or distorted in any way.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums

I have a problem that when I use either of my HD 1080p TVs,
the desktop seems to be cropped by about 40 pixels on all four sides of the screen.
It happens on both my Sony Bravia LCD TV and my Sharp Aquos TV.
I do not think it is a driver or Windows problem per se, as if I plug the HDMI into
my 1080p ASUS monitor, all is fine (all pixels are shown). On the Sony, I can also
adjust Horizontal Center up to 5 pixels but of coarse I lose a pixel on the right for
every pixel I gain on the left.

Therefore, I think the display is actually something like 1880 x 1040
instead of 1920 x 1080. While this is not a problem with pictures, it is a big
problem with a Windows Desktop, as the Start Menu is hard to use.

Is there any simple way in Windows 7 to tell it not to use the edges of the screen?

A:Display cropped on 1080p TV using HDMI cable?

This is the answer I found using
"Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel" Other graphic
drivers will probably have a completely different terminology.

OK. I finally found the setting you were talking about under
<Right-click the desktop> / Graphic Properties ... / Advanced Mode - OK
Under "Custom Resolution" and answering yes to the very scary
warning about how this could cause your computer to blow up.
I set width 1920  height 1080 refresh rate 59 color depth 32
Underscan percentage 20% (I left interlace off and Timing GTF)
I think (hope) "Timing Standard" is ignored using HDMI.
I then added the Custom resolution 1862 x 1048, 32 bit, 59 Hz
I then switched to "General Settings", Select the "Resolution" as
the custom one of 1862x1048 AND set "Scaling" to "Center Image".
The last bit is very important as none of the other settings seem to have
an affect unless "Center Image" is chosen. It still Chops off
some pixels around the edged but Underscan percentage 20% was the
highest I could set when I apparently needed 30-40%. But at least
now I can see the speaker control and the time.
Thanks everyone for their help.

Unfortunately I don't have the liberty to build or use a desktop so I'm considering a new laptop. I like the Sager NP9377 but unfortunately it uses a 60Hz display at 1080p. That depends on what you plan on doing with this system. Given your planned specs, I'm going to assume gaming or video editing/rendering.

SLI/Crossfire only give marginal improvements in comparison to a better, single graphics card. That being said, if the 980M is the only graphics card available, it may be worth getting two in SLI.

I've never seen a laptop offer SLI graphics...though I've never been in the market for a gaming laptop, so I haven't done too much research on them.

Hi - I just got a new T460 laptop from my company.  However, the extended desktop monitor that I have currently (Dell P1911) will not auto-size correctly with the new laptop.  If the text size is large enough to read on the laptop, the display size is WAAAY too big on the extended desktop and I can't even scroll to everything I need to see (bottom of screens, etc).  However, when I decrease size to fit the Dell extended desktop, the type on the laptop screen is so small as to be nearly unreadable.  Have discussed this with IT and they say there's "no good solution - it's how the new laptop works."  Can someone suggest a extended desktop screen that would work better with this model Lenovo, so that the screen sizes will transfer properly?  Thanks!

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Seeing your cpu temperature is at 69c might be why that's getting a tad on the hot site
Click Start and type in the search box
resource monitor
Click on the suggestion for it and open the Overview section and post a screen shot.

You can monitor your temperatures with this
Download Real Temp 3.70 | techPowerUp
Download it to your downloads folder
Right click it and extract all
Open the extracted folder and right click the RealTemp.exe file and click on Send to = desktop create shortcut
Click to open the shortcut on your desktop
It will open and a Celsius # will appear on the action center.
You can minimize the little window and the # will remain.

Realtemp also shows processor Load so you might leave it not minimized so you can monitor the Load also at a glance.

I have Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop (Touch Screen, 15 inches, 16 GB RAM and i7 4th Gen processor, Out of Warranty). Some days back, suddenly the display went dim and anything is hardly visible. After some initial investigation, the display chip (may be VGA or LED display chip) on the motherboard appears to be burnt out (may be due to voltage surge). Even the numbers printed on the chip is not readable because of which it is difficult for the local repairing shops to repair this problem.
I think Dell India Service Center doesn't deal with chip level repair and hence replacing motherboard is the only way they can fix this. This will be very costly (considering that the laptop is not under warranty so will have to pay for warranty extension, motherboard replacement and repair service) and time consuming.
Hence, to avoid all this I have come here to seek some assistance.
If there are anyone using the same laptop (Inspiron 5000 series 5547 Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM) then could you please take a clear picture of your laptop's motherboard or if you recognize the display chip then only that should be sufficient. In this case, I can read the chip related number from the image and try to repair it.
What are the charges for buying a warranty for the laptop, motherboard of my laptop and repairing charge?

Request your response and help.

Rohit Kumar

A:Display Issue - Dim Display for Dell Inspiron 5000 (Model 5547) - Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM

You'll have to call Dell about the possibility of a warranty extension;  in the US, it's sometimes possible but will likely run over $300 -- or about what a board replacement would cost.
If you're getting video, the GPU is OK -- and it's more likely the power circuit to the backlight that's bad.  It'll likely cost as much to repair as to replace the board -- though you'll still be putting $300-400 into an out of warranty system, so replacing the system may be a better idea (if you do this, consider buying a 3-year warranty with the next system).

I've had my HKC 21.6" monitor for over a year now, and i've been using it with my PC at 1920 x 1080 with no problems.
However, two days ago the screen suddenly went black and displayed the message "Out of Range". I've had to drop the resolution to 1680 x 1050 in order to see anything.

I've tested the monitor with the same VGA cable but with a different computer - this worked fine, so i'm assuming it's something to do with my computer.
I've tried reinstalling my video drivers, but this had no effect. My card is an ATi Radeon HD 5770, haven't had any problems with it before.

Obviously this is pretty irritating since anything other than the native resolution tends to look ugly.

Any help appreciated

Best thing I can advise is. Grab the latest WHQL ATI and CCC drivers.

before installing, uninstall your ati drivers in safe mode and your monitor from device manager.

Boot into normal mode and install the drivers. Make sure in setting you take off check for only display resolutions this monitor can handle,,, ok give it a shot.. let us know.. gl

Hi,

Shown below are yahoo website, system restore screen and the McAFee security scan. Any idea what is causing this / how I can solve the problem?

A:Windows display issue

reboot the computer and press F8 at the Advanced Boot Menu, boot into Safe Mode with Networking. Here Try a System Restore to a time before this happened. Do a McAfee Scan. If that doesn't work, Go to Start/Search and type CMD right click the CMD icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Command Prompt type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and reboot the computer. Check Disk utility will run at next bootup. Also, you can go to the elevated command prompt as before, and here type in SFC /Scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing Windows files. If this still fails, then you can Restart and press F8 again in the Advanced Boot Menu choose Repair Your Computer.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Sce5Y6CNmHQ1NpUmk1UFZrWWM/view?usp=sharing
I tried to restart it several times, the only I could get to is the windows loading icon and after it show me the screen like the above again.
I am really desperate for urgent help right now, please help!

Ouch, that looks like the panel itself has gone bad. Try to start the computer in safe mode and see if you get a regular display: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2304-safe-mode-start-windows-10-a.html
then update your post.

Just a few days ago, I was notified that my computer was able to install windows 8.1, so I decided to go through with the installation process. It was relatively quick and easy, but now I have a bit of a problem. My laptop screen will randomly go crazy. When I say it goes crazy, it doesn't shut off or anything, but all of the colors go away and it turns black and white with lines running both vertically in certain areas, and horizontally in others.

I can still manage to see the majority of the screen through the lines, but it certainly isn't easy to use. If I had to compare the issue to something just as a point of reference, I would say the lines are similar to static on a TV. The only difference is that I can see the majority of the screen still, just not very well. A screenshot doesn't manage to capture the issue. It captures what the screen SHOULD look like.

I didn't notice this issue until I upgraded to windows 8.1. Windows 8 worked perfectly fine, and my laptop hasn't been damaged in any way. I updated my display drivers and it seemed to fix the issue if only for a little bit, and then the issue reoccurred today. It went away on its own though shortly after it happened. Normally a restart fixes the issue. Is this a problem with windows 8.1 or with my laptop? It's not very old at all (maybe a year or 2) and it has never been damaged.

A:Windows 8.1 display issue

I would try setting power options to High Performance profile. Make sure adaptive brightness(if available) is disabled. Set screen dim time out to Never. Set display time out to Never. Also disable your screen saver if one is active. See if the symptom recurs.

I'm using a Samsung 1080p smart TV as a monitor until I can get a newer better one to replace the old DVI Dell monitor I've been using for awhile. I plugged It in and it says it's displaying at 1080p but it looks absolutely awful. The text isn't clear, no image is sharp, and I feel like everything should be using less pixels than it is. Anyone have some tips?

Does anyone know of an Intel HD Graphics display driver that allows you to use an HDMI monitor with Windows 10? I'm using, what I think is the latest and greatest. Driver date is 11/3/2015, version 10.17.10.4229. Currently, only able to connect via analog VGA. Thanks.

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have an ATI 5770 with HDMI outputs that I am connecting to my Vizio 37inch vl370m (full 1080p). When I hook it up to my computer it looks really good except for one thing, theres about a 1 inch border all the way around what the computer is outputting. There is no option to stretch it out on the tv and i cant seem to find anything on my computer. How can I get my computer output to fit the entirety of my 37 inch HDTV?

Thank in advance for you help with this issue.

I have a HP Slimline s3020n with and Nvidia 6150 LE onboard for video. Yesterday I had a error come up that said ":your display drivers have been recovered". After that for some dumb reason I hit the power buttom on my comp and now I can't get windows to start.

I have tried doing system recoveries and starting in safe mode, I also tried " boot using last working configuration" that didn't work.

The problem is that my windows looks like it is going to load and then just goes black after 5 seconds of the windows loading screen.

I guess my question is, how do I reload my display drivers when I can't get to windows? I can reload the correct drivers if I can make it to windows. Please provide any help you can guys, I will check back hourly for solutions.

I have Windows 8 64-bit (tried 32-bit too with same results) installed in my netbook (Samsung N145P) and everything is fine EXCEPT the brightness control, it's stuck at maximum and there is no way to lower it as the Windows 8 slider nor the keyboard controls do nothing.

I have installed Samsung utilities for it but still no avail, It does not have official Windows 8 support.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, i recently installed windows 8.1 pro and from the first moment i realised that there was a problem with the language bar display. When I go to the taskbar and press the ENG button to change the keyboard language there is no problem.. But when i press Windows button + Spacebar combination, then the language pop-up displays in the middle of the screen... Is there a way to fix this, cause it is really annoying. Thank you in advance.

A:Display issue using Windows + Space combination

Hi Kosletr, welcome to the Eight Forums.

As far as I know the location of the language selection pop-up cannot be changed. It pops up in the middle of the right edge.

Hello, all. After a couple of months researching/battling this problem, I thought I'd reach out & ask my fellow Optiplex enthusiasts.
I have upgraded a fleet of 30-ish Optiplex 580s (desktop chassis specifically, but I have a single mini-tower that does this, too) to Windows 10. Many of them have been clean-installed, even with new SSDs.
My problem is display/video "breakup," like fuzzy pixelated blobs that appear across the screen, often blinking, after the system has been up & running for a while. A restart cures the problem every time. The problem is actually more prevalent on systems that have been clean-installed. Upgraded units (from Win7) also exhibit the problem.
I found an article on tenforums suggesting the 13.4 legacy beta driver, directly from AMD can resolve issues, but after performing this driver change there is absolutely no change in behavior. (https://www.tenforums.com/graphic-cards/11630-ati-radeon-hd-4200-driver-64-bit-windows-10-a.html)
It seems to happen more often (maybe exclusively, but I use a Precision T1650 so I can't be sure) when the system wakes up after sleep. I've considered just recommending some low-cost video card add-ins but it seems there might be an answer lurking out there somewhere.
Other than that, the systems run absolutely beautifully with Samsung 850 Pro EVOs. Obviously the 580 is a great candidate for Win10, with 16GB max ram, quad-core possibilities, and onboard digital video, so I'd hate to throw... Read more

A:Optiplex 580 display breakup issue with Windows 10

It is a problem with the video drivers since Dell doesn't have any win 10 drivers and doesn't recommend installing windows 10. You are stuck with Windows 10 generic drivers which may or may not work correctly. VGA is the worst choice for video. Try finding a separate card that would work with your psu.
See this--
www.dell.com/.../advanced
Onboard video needs to have customized Dell Drivers and you should not install AMD drivers from AMD website.

I had been using a dual monitor setup with a Hanns.G HW-191D 19" LCD and a Cintiq 12WX for over a year on XP without a hitch. Since installing Windows 7, both monitors are recognized but only one can be active at a time. When I change the Multiple Displays option to "Extend these displays" it automatically switches to "Show desktop only on 2". Hitting apply will cause the active monitor to de-sync and the other to turn on as would be expected.

My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX 2 with the most recent drivers. Any ideas what might be causing this or how it could be fixed? Thank you.

I have a customer that insists on using a very old version of archicad, the problem is that in windows 7 the text doesn't display correctly "60 cm. away" appears on the screen "cm. away 60".
This problem did present in windows XP also but is fixed by deselecting "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages"

There does not seem to be a similar option that fixes it in windows 7.
I have no additional languages installed, all the regional options are set the same English NZ.

Any suggestions appreciated.

when I turn on my TV (connected VGA), My primary monitor (Connected DVI) loses it's display and makes the sound when a PNP device is added/removed. The monitor then shows that the monitor is searching between an analogue and a digital signal. The TV and Montior are plugged in at all times.

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 320, and has VGA, DVI and an HDMI port. My TV has a DVI, VGA, and HDMI port, and Primary monitor only has a DVI port. My primary monitor is NOT PNP.

I've updates my drivers for both the TV and the monitor, but the issue still occurs.
I've read several tech support forums saying that the issue is with windows 7's automatic monitor detection, but only about situations when a display is disconnected. I've contacted NVIDIA about the issue, but all they did was get me to update my drivers.

What should I do to fix my issue?

Dear Lenovo fellows, I'm facing an issue with a brand new T460s. This laptop has been set on a docking with 2 monitors in order to extend the display. Actually, on this mode, this works perfectly. Sadly, as soon as I take the laptop off the docking, or start it without the docking or an external monitor attached, the laptop screen stays black. When I start the laptop, the lenovo logo appears, the Windows boot logo shows at boot and then black screen again. I've tried the shortcuts (Windows P) to change the view but nothing occurs. The only way to make it work was to uninstall the Intel drivers and come back to Default MIcrosoft standard drivers which doesn't allow duplicate screen. I've tried to update the drivers to the latest version, including the original Intel drivers but still, not working. I've reinstall the whole O/S using the factory CD's and it's the same problem. The funniest thing is at this moment, we found a very old driver from Intel that works. But after a few reboots, Windows 10 finds a newest and install it, even if we deactivate the function to update the drivers in Windwos Update. So it's a never ending loop. The driver gets updated and the problem comes back again. Does anyone of you had such experience and have an idea on how to solve it? this is quite annoying to not be able to use a laptop. Cheers, poy

Sounds like  a bad Intel Driver, but you can configure Windows 10 to not automatically install drivers, which might be a workaround until Intel and Lenovo address the issue. Stop automatic driver updates on Windows 10http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10 Good Luck,

I was running Windows 7 and everything worked well, I could extent and duplicate monitors.  I use my laptop monitor as monitor #1 and my VGA port with an external VGA Monitor as Monitor #2 and I always extend my monitor. After the upgrade to Windows 10 I get a duplication of Screen #1 on both monitors. I watched numourous videos that show how to extent the monitor but I never get the ability to choose the monitors.  I only get one option, Monitor #1.  Seems like my VGA port is just duplicating everything my laptop screen is projecting. I diverted back to Windows 7 because this option is really important to my work and it works flawlessly.  Going back to Windows 10 and it just still shows the duplication of the laptop screen.
