X270 Keyboard Backlight?

Q: X270 Keyboard Backlight?

I have a new X270, Type 20HNCTO and cannot figure how to activate the keyboard backlight. Normally the "FN" key pressed with the spacebar turns it on on previous X models. Is there a special sequence or perhaps the X270 does not have a backlight on the Keyboard?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey there, I found a similar topic but unfortunately, there was not a final response that solved my problem. I own a Yoga 13 Ideapad without the backlight function, unfortunately. Recently I watched a video of a keyboard replacement and I would like to do that with mine in order to replace it with a backlight keyboard. The problem is that I am not sure if my model features the needed connections. The model number is: 219159342273 if that helps.  I found backlight keyboards described as "original" Lenovo parts for about 30?. Is that realistic or fake?Thank you for your help!!!

Hi all,Would a keyboard made for an X270 (FRU: 01EP062) be backwards-compatible with an X240? When I do a parts lookup, it just says that it is a keyboard, and doesn't list compatibility. I've noticed that many off-brand keyboards are being sold on Amazon with cross-device compatibility. Thanks!

Hi, as a long-term Dell Latitude user, I had to switch to Lenovo ThinkPad with a new employer. I was used to have keyboard always on (and the keyboard was really always backlit when laptop was on). On ThinkPad, the keyboard goes always OFF when laptop goes to sleep or power off. While starting/resuming the laptop I always have to turn the backlit keyboard MANUALLY on. How can I keep the keyboard backlit always on? (there are some other related topics on this forum but none is related to ThinkPad X series) Thanks,Radek

Hi, After a keyboard replacement I have serious problems getting the notebook (X270 20HN) to work again. I hope that some can give me tips how to resolve the error. I disassembled the notebook as far as necessary to replace the previous german keyboard with an english one. After re-assembling it, taking care of course to attach everything as it was before, I continously get a beep error :/ According to the "Lenovo PC Diagnostics" App, it corresponds to 0001 - Reset error The manual says about this:0001: Reset error (platform reset not de-asserted)Solutions1. Also, the keyboard backlight works after turing the device on, as well as the Fn key works as expected so I guess it's not the keyboards fault (or one of it's connectors). Did someone have similar expieriences? Bought a new HP1591 touch screen.  Working in the dark and can't see a thing on the keyboard.  Made a silly assumption they all light up.  Tried F5, but no light symbol on the screen.  Tried Windows and space bar.  Didn't see anything else listed in the manual.  I can't beleive they would add the technology of a touch screen and not have a backlight on the keyboard.  How ridiculous!  Can anyone confirm that this model has no backlight?

Hello,
I've just bought a new dell inspiron 7559. When I was buying it, the consultant said that it is a little different from other 7559, because it has swedish keyboard. But the only difference is that it has two extra keys. I came home with my new laptop, and tried turning on the led on the keyboard but it didn't happen. I found out that f10 key should have an icon that shows that it should turn on the backlight. Mine does not have one. as of right now I'm using linux ubuntu.
Any Ideas? What should I do? Is it possible that my laptop does not have a led keyboard because it's swedish?

Hi,

I would like to toggle my backlight keyboard. I see it on my keyboard, and in the Windows Mobility Center, but I would like to increase the duration. Currently, my keyboard stays lit for 60 seconds. I would like it to not turn off at all.
Can I turn off the backlight timer? Can I chose to keep it on for more than 60 seconds?
Thank you so much.

A:Keyboard Backlight

Hi talynnkpayne,
The duration of the backlight on your keyboard cannot be increased. As it is designed in such a way that when you leave it idle after few seconds the backlit will turn off. However, when you press any keys, the backlight will be turned on again until and unless you manually turn it off.

I know that i'm an not the first to mention this but I am wondering if we can get some serious response/attention from Lenovo on the very werid and non-user-settable behaviour of the Lenovo Thinkpad keyboard backlight. I just bought a new Carbon X gen 7 and was underder the assumption that everything worked like on a yoga or any other backlid keyboard device: Turn it on / of and it stays like this until you change the setting. Or otherwise it is driven by an ambient sensor. But no such luck; on the Thinkpad for me it just doesn't work at all. (and an ambient sensor is not present) You can turn it on (fn-space) but then it will turn itself off: - randomly at some time (no clue what the trigger is)- when you close the lid- when you reboot/shutdown-start Searching for this problem I found that this an issue with all thinkpad serie laptops. Some people even written tools to fix the behaviour (https://gitlab.com/valinet/thinkpad-leds-control/) but this still does not fix it for me (just doesn't work on my carbon gen7). It's really strange to see that a lot of people mention this or complain but Lenovo just does nothing with this. I hope we can get some decent assistance from Lenovo on this issue. It's quite a let-down that this basic behaviour does not work on a premium priced machine like the thinkpad. My only wish would be: remember the keyboard-backlight setting and not reset it at all. That's it! I somehow have the feeling that it is related to the pow... Read more

For the 6430u (and I suspect related family) I had a hard time locating info on how to control the timeout. Chat support was helpful but didn't have exact info. I have provided that to them so one would hope not too many of you need to read this post. :) .
You need the Feature Enhancement Pack (FEP) (Control Point has been superceded by FEP)Go to C:\Program Files\Dell\Feature Enhancement Pack (default location for Feature Enhancement Pack installation).
Readme file provides the details (use Control Panel) as indicated here:
In the Windows Control Panel - Keyboard related tabs:        - Dell Keyboard Hotkey Settings - Lists system function keys.        - Dell Keyboard Backlight Settings - Provides control for keyboard           backlighting (only on computers that support backlighting).        - Dell Battery Information - Provides information about the          batteries installed in your computer
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound:

However, when I bring up the Keyboard Properties (v2.2.1) I do not have a "Never" option as you have in your screenshot above. I only have 5 secs thru 5 mins available.
How do I make my keyboard backlight to always be "on"? Why is the option to "Never" turn off my backlight not present for me?
