Need to move email from Mozilla mail to Outlook 2003 in a corporate environment

Q: Need to move email from Mozilla mail to Outlook 2003 in a corporate environment

Hi, I have a user who has been using Mozilla mail. I am putting him on a new laptop and need to move his emails from Mozilla on the old laptop to Outlook 2003 (not express) on the new laptop. Can someone help?

Preferred Solution: Need to move email from Mozilla mail to Outlook 2003 in a corporate environment

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi foleyfan,

Please see the article at http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php which deals with this issue. The only difference in your situation is the need to copy the emails from the old laptop to the new one before importing into Outlook.

I can no longer drag emails from my inbox to my individual mail folders within Outlook 2003 (with Win XP Pro.) I can highlight them by clicking on them, but the email never moves. I cannot even drag them up or down in the inbox. When I try this, I see the "slash" symbol for a brief second, but it goes away. It is like a settings has been changed, but this was working fine yesterday. I have tried draging with old and new email - neither works. The only thing I can do is right click, and choose "Move To Folder..."

When I create a corporate email account in the Mail app I see the message:
"To sync [email protected] , you'll need to change this PC's settings to match the mail server's security policy. See how."
When I click 'See how' the following message comes up:
Does anyone know exactly what these security settings are and is there a list of steps to undo them in case this email account is removed later on? Since I already receive that email on my iPad it's more nice to have than need to have on this PC but I don't want to be stuck with limitations that I cannot undo.

I'm hoping that someone can help me with changing the default internet email account in MS Outlook 2000 Corporate/Workgroup. In the regular Outlook 2000, there is a button in the service box for set as default. However, this does not exist in my program. I am running two internet email accounts, and I would like the second one that I installed to be the default for sending messages. I know there must be a way to do this, but I just can't remember/ figure it out. Thanks!

Please give-me some help with this problem.

one person use a notebook and connect it on 3 networks from 3 companies during the week.

In one company he have a exchange server and a pop3 account on the internet, on the other 2 companies he have only one pop3 account for eatch company. ie:

user (on the exchange server of the company 1, as "service for Microsoft exchange server")
[email protected] (pop3 accounts are out the buildings)
[email protected]
[email protected]

company1 use exchange server only for internal email services.
So, i must setup the outlook as a corporate or workgroup, with the Microsoft exchange service, plus 3 internet mail services.

I could make 2 profiles to resolve the problem on connections out side the network with exchange server.
But this person need to recieve email from the 3 internet acounts where ever he have (at home also). Recieving is not my actualy problem, beacause the isp's from the 3 accounts dosen't making any type of filtering. So the person could receive emails very well.

The problem is how to make the sending pop3 account selection.
This is beacause he need to send one email on company1 as one account of the company2

making this work with a "outlook only internet support" is quite simple.

Anyone could give me some help with this??

I finally figured this out, at least on my setup:

You must change the "Default format" of email from HTML to Rich Text. To do this:

Tools/Options/Mail Format. On the drop down box, choose "Rich Text" instead of HTML.

This has allowed me to send links to network drive files by hitting the drop down after choosing the paperclip to attach, and choosing "Attach as hyperlink"

I would like to use Remote Assistance to enhance my heldesk. I keep seeing instructions where it says that I need to configure the Novice machine. I have 100+ workstations on my domain. I find it hard to believe that I can't make all the Group Policy changes from the Group Policy in my Active Directories. If I can't make Remote Assistance work from there and push out the policy changes to all of my machines then it's totally useless to me. Anything that requires me to go "touch" 100+ machines isn't worth my time. I'll go purchase RealVNC with the Deployment tool.

Now here's the question: Can Remote Assistance be configured for use in a domain, from the main group policy in Active directories without me personally setting up each client?

We have hundreds of tablets with 8.1 on that are consistently failing with multiple problems relating to suspected disk problems (possible unsafe shutdowns). App store repository constantly corrupt, profile corruption and repair loops. Tablets
have onboard emmc storage.
The tablets are deployed to remote locations so have to be recalled due to the limited troubleshooting options available. No internet is available for the users so we can't reinstall store apps and install the packages over the network rarely works. Apps
are tied to MS accounts we create though limited to how many machines we can install on per account meaning many MS accounts in use. All restore options available in windows are too destructive to the software environment as we sent them out so can't have
the users get the machines back to full working state. It would be nice if the default restore image could be overwritten with a full updated one but that doesn't work either.
Is this a common problem to be having with this platform. Is there anyway of reducing the amount of recalls we're doing? Any better way of deploying these?

I just put in a new hard drive and installed the latest version of Office 2007. I kept the data and archive files from Outlook 2003 so I could import them into Outlook 2007 and get back to business. However, that did not happen. It was able to read and bring up most of the data, but I am missing some folders which are critical.

The critical folders are folders that were created manually. They were used to store email messages that came in that were important. They were simply dragged from the Inbox and put into that folder. There were also folders within that folder. I'm not sure if these folders and subfolders were in the Inbox or not. They may not have been.

The way I imported it was by going to TOOLS>ACCOUNT SETTINGS>DATA FILES tab>and pointed to the old PST file.

I also pointed to the archive.pst file as well, but later went to FILE>ARCHIVE and pointed to the old archive.pst file in there. Bot ways did not reveal the folders that are needed.

Is Outlook 2007 not able to read all data from Outlook 2003 pst files, or is there a fix for this?

Please advise.

A:Move from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 not successful; not reading certain folders

I purchased a new Notebook with Office 2007 installed and copied over my Outlook 2000 pst file. I also had manually created folders for filing important emails. Mine were sub folders within the Inbox folder. Everything copied over, but I could not see the manual folders at first until I double clicked the Inbox folder in the side panel and then they spilled out. I would look for them in that panel and double click anything there starting with Inbox, Sent etc. Also try doing a search for any subject or address of an email you may have saved.

When copying over the pst file I think everything is copied. Appears you did not just copy contacts for example, but the complete pst file. I think the folders are there as Sub Folders, just hidden within one of the main folders such as Inbox.

I copied the contacts into my win7 PC & have been trying to import them into TB without success. Windows mail use a different system than have I seen in the past where all the names & email addresses are in 1 file such as *.wab or some such extension. When I try "tools-import" in TB the choices are "address books, mail, settings or filter. Contacts are not listed. I tried converting them to a csv file & importing them as an address book & it seemed to be working, ie csv was a choice under the import & a csv file was created but the data displayed in TB mail was useless. The names appeared but the email fields were blank. But, when I clicked on "properties" for each entery, the email address appeared twice under the field names "nickname" & "display" What am I doing wrong. HELP!

Is there any way to move the cached contacts to another PC.....

For example; if you send an email to a new email address, (say [email protected]) outlook saves it somewhere, and the next time you type K, that address, plus all the other ones beginning with K will drop down.

The email address is not in the address book, as it would have had to be added manually.
If someone know where these contacts are stored, and if they can be moved, it'd be a great help.

A:Solved: Outlook 2003 - how to move cached contacts to a different PC

The auto-complete suggestions in Outlook come from what is called a nickname list that is generated by Outlook over an extended period of time. The files that are used with the nickname list have the extension .nk2 and are usually stored in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\your-profile\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
These .nk2 files may be hidden so make sure to enabling viewing of hidden files within Windows explorer. Once you find the files you can try copying them from one Windows profile to another to see if the auto-suggestions will be transferred. I've never done this myself but I would assume the you would need the same contacts in your contacts folder or address book as well.

You can also type the first few letters of an email address and press CTRL + K to autoresolve the address or bring up the list of possible values to choose from.

This appears to be a common problem, with many solutions, though I have yet to find one that works for me. When using Outlook 2003 with Word 2003 set to be the email editor, Word opens and works fine to CREATE a new email. However, when trying to REPLY TO or FORWARD an email, I get the error message "Microsoft Word is set to be your email editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The outlook email editor will be used instead...," and when I click OK to that message the native Outlook email editor opens. Word 2003 worked fine with Outlook 2003 replying to or forwarding emails till this morning, but the behavior described above now applies. The OS, by the way, is Windows 10. I have tried to both "repair" and "reinstall" the 2003 Office 2003 suite, both to no avail. Would appreciate a much needed solution to this puzzle.

I originally posted this question on November 3, 2010 in the Email section and in spite of many views, there were no replies. That is when I thought I might be going about asking the question the wrong way.

Windows XP - SP3 Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook 2003

I use Word as my email editor for Outlook. I had had a problem or two awhile back and I used the Detect and Repair Function that comes with Outlook 2003. Problems cleared up HOWEVER I got a new and IMHO worse problem: my emails that are advertisements like Newegg, TigerDirect, Overstock, etc. are fine but anything else that is actually text that is sent to me comes in very, very small and I can not find a way to change it. I have looked everywhere in Outlook; Microsoft online, and Google. Sample attached.

I can't find it and it is driving me crazy. If anyone could help, I'd sincerely appreciate it!

Thank you for your time.

Hi, My name is Fran. I've had something strange going on for a while (a month?) and I thought I'd give this a shot to figure out what the problem is. As I said in the Topic title, I have blank Outlook 2003 emails that keep showing up in my Inbox/Sent Mail/Deleted Mail Folders for my hotmail account in Outlook 2003. They all are the same size, but have various times. I contacted Microsoft, and they suggested that I reset my passwordsand security questions for all of my email accounts. I did this, but the problem has continued in my Hotmail account in Outlook 2003. This has made me suspect that I have something on my computer that picked up the new password. I fear that someone or something is hijacking my computer and want to put a stop to it. I read something today about HijackThis and decided to give it a try. I installed the software and ran a scan generating a log file. It then instructed me to use one of the forums for assistance in a list on their website in which you were at the top--so here I am.I attached the log for the scan from Hijackthis (I HAD TWO FILES AND WAS UNSURE WHICH YOU SHOULD GET, SO I UPLOADED BOTH--I RAN TWO SCANS WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER, BUT AM UNSURE IF THESE LOGS ARE FOR EACH OR JUST ONE SCAN). And, when I looked at the scans' logs, it was all Greek to me. Of course, if there is any other info you need, please just let me know. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I been using Outlook 2003 for 5-6 years and have about 4000 Outlook e-mails saved including a folder which contains all my purchased software serial numbers. I carefully exported all my Outlook 2003 e-mails before switching to Windows mail. I have discovered to my dismay, that Windows mail can not import Outlook mail and somehow in the process of installing Windows mail, my Outlook 2003 program disappeared. My old 2003Student and Teacher Office disk which contained the Outlook 2003 software is too scratched to reinstall. I have looked for some kind of Outlook to Windows Mail converter from Microsoft; but no luck so far. I am absolutely amazed that Microsoft would publish a new mail program and not include import routines for its own legacy mail programs. Outlook 2007 apparently has the same problem with Windows Mail. Even if I purchase a replaacement disk from Microsoft ( I have the orginal box and serial number for my Student and Teacher Office package, so I thick I could still get a replacement disk), I would still have to use two e-mail programs and eventually Outlook 2003 would stop working with some future OS upgrade). Any suggestions??

A:Outlook 2000 - Move E-mail to Task Folder

I don't have Outlook 2000 to experiment with but I have tried this manually with Outlook 2003. I don't think that it is possible to move a mail item to a Task folder. Although when I drug a mail item to the Task folder it did create a task item from it and display it on my screen. Have you tried this rule? What was the result? What is the result of you dragging a mail item to the Tasks folder? Regardless of a rule being able to do it I am sure that a macro can be created to do what you want but this may be more than your looking to get into.

In your Journal, I believe this is done the same in Outlook 200 as in 2003, click the View menu. Choose the Arrange By submenu. Choose an Arrange By option that suite you. Once you have the look that you like right-click on the column headers toward the top of your list of Journal entries. Choose the option Field Chooser. Drag the fields from the Field Choose dialog to the column header row and they will now be shown on the list. Any columns that you don't want displayed then drag them off the column header row and release the mouse button, they will disappear.

Hi Geniuses:
I wanted to throw this out to you to see if there was a solution to my "inbox zero woes"

Yahoo Email address (yes I know)
iPhone with Outlook App
Mac Computer with Mail APP
Extra Gmail account with a "send gmail from account"

What I found was that while on the road (most of my email use) the Outlook App for iPhone was fastest at fetching mail, and I LOVE the interface (ability to snooze emails, archive etc).

Problem is, my home mac with MAIL doesn't play nice when I archive Emails on my app.
Secondly, I also like to use gmail as a web client for searching files, using todo etc.

My question: can all of these play nice in the same sandbox? Can I archive on one device, and have it translated amongst the others? If not, what are my solutions (switching over to outlook on Mac? Just using a GMAIL address from now on). Would love some light / insight on this.

Many, Many thanks!

Folks I have read the MS tech notes on how to get Outlook 2003 [I have it via Office 2003 Professional, full install] to import from OE6. It fails under either option: import from "another program" or "Import Internet Mail....". Under the former it is pointed to the correct folder, but fails with Error: Cannot open,.. another program in use" but there's not... I tried copying the folder to a nice clean location on the C: and checked all the properties, nothing interfering, still won't open the folder.
Under the latter option it just doesn't do anything after directing it to the correct folder. Seems to accept the command, closes the window, but does not import anything. No error messages.

Umm.... do MS teams communicate with one another??

Closely related: If I could just get the FOLDERS I had setup it would be a great asset, or if i could just get the ADDRESS book it would help. Do you know how to import *.dbx folders into Outlook 2003? Or the old outlook Express address Book?

A:Outlook 2003 Will Not Import Outlook Express folders, mail, anything

They are written in two different formats that are uncompatible. The Oulook Express has a file sytem totally unique to it.

I had the same problem about 6 weeks ago going from XP to Win7.
I had to transfer address book to notepad and put it into Outlook one at a time. The old mail sits in the old PC.
I have heard you can transfer the OE mail files over to Windows mail or gmail etc. Then transfer files from the new mail server to Outlook.
File system is changed over with the mail transfer- I haven't tried it though.

I did a Google and found this. I didn't find this page six weeks ago.

Recently a customer of the company I work for did some upgrade to their system (not exactly sure what). The result is that when they send a mail containing a hyperlink to file on their website, the link doesn't work.
When you hover over the link you should get something like 'https//thiscompany.com/page.do?DOCID=123456'.
However, what we actually get on Outlook 2003 is 'outbind://39-00000000C176F3FF67E6754394476777057BDCA60700071475F5FEB9AC4FABB3D7C8EE9381620000007059
On mac mail it looks like this 'x-msg://24/thiscompany.com/page.do?DOCID=123456'.

The links work fine on Outlook 2010. Any idea what's happening here?

Are these files located somewhere that I can manually add them (replace, whatever) to the new Vista OS/hard drive?

Thanks in advance...

Have a Vostro 1500 with Windows XP. Just installed Windows Live Mail, but the transfer of my WAB to Windows Live Mail, following their directions, did not work properly. It transferred only part of my book, and shows many duplicates (some with same name but different e-mail address).
Tried transferring a second time, and now have an incorrect book of over 1,000 addresses.

I want to delete this incorrect book (without having to delete each address one at a time...does not have a file delete option that I can see), and properly transfer the full book. I can create a new address book file if needed. Any help would be appreciated.

POP Server [Earthlink] email problem:

I have a client who is having a problem with Outlook 2003, and downloading messages.

If they set Outlook 2003 to delete messages on the pop server which is hosted by Earthlink then, all the messages are sent down to Outlook instead of just deleting them off the server.

Is there a way to just have Outlook issue a command to delete them?

Windows 10 running Outlook 2016. When I did a fresh install I set up 3 email address and added my .csv files of contacts and calendar form prior install. I did not pay attention and Outlook 2016 assigned them to an email address I now wish to get rid of.

Did a web search and didn't come up with a good reliable way to transfer the folder to another email address PST file. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I know that 07 Word saves files in a .docx file that is not usable by the 97-03 Word and same goes for PowerPoint and Excell. My question is does this occur with Outlook 2007 also? I have a friend who said that he can't read my Outlook 2007 email to him (he uses the older version of outlook). Is there a way to change it so that I can send 2007 Outlook emails to people with the 97-03 versions?

OK... well I thought I had it covered but.... I copied the pst file from 2003 and tried to open in 2007. I recently read somewhere that you have to copy the pst when Outlook is closed. I did not close Outlook and copied the file while Outlook was open. Anyway to rescue these Emails? The old drive is toast so I can't do that. The pst file is 79mg so I suspect the info is there. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Upgraded my system to XP SP2 from W2K-pro and now I cannot send email from my companies 2003 Exchange Web Mail server. I have set the web site URL to be open for pop-up blocking and I've even turned off pop-blocking in IE6SP2, but I still cannot send email. I checked MS KB but their tips didn't work (pop-up blocking).

I can use another laptop that's running W2K-pro and send email all day long on it, just not on the Wxp-SP2 client system. I can receive email and read my emails on the XP machine, just cannot send or reply.

I've checked MS's Knowledge base and played with the pop-up blocker they suggest but that's no help.

Anyone's help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I have two computers using MS Outlook 2003. I have a home and a work desktop with the same email address. I have them configured so that the mail stays on the server and I get the messages at work and they also appear at home. This works fine. == I recently got a third PC, a laptop. I only use this about every two weeks when I go to Starbucks. I am using the same email address as the other two pc's but would like this one to not keep the mail on the server so that I don't have a couple hundred emails that have to load each time I use it. I have unchecked the option in Advanced under Delivery to keep the mail on the server. It still loads a couple hundred emails. Is it going to be impossible to have Outlook configured two ways? Thanks,

This looks a bit complex to me (at this time of night), but you might make more sense of it than I can:
Synchronize Outlook between two or more computers
