Revert SCCM T610 thin client back to T610 HPDM thin client

Q: Revert SCCM T610 thin client back to T610 HPDM thin client

Is there a way to revert a currently loaded SCCM thin client back to a HPDM-managed thin client? The quickest way I'm thinking of is to just thumbdrive reimage the device. Can the HPDM agent be placed on the device to establish initial communiications to the HPDM server? Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I am deploying T510 and T610 Thin clients using SCCM 2012 Current Branch.I captured a Cusomized WES7 image ( initially deployed from the HP 8GB image)Now I am deploying the image and all goes well, only the last part: Finalizing the Task Sequence fails. It ends up in "Your computer is being serviced" and the Win7 logon screen. When I reboot, Windows 7 start with"Starting for the first time".And keeps doing this, because write-filters is now enabled. I can fix this by logging on as Administrator manually and disable the write filters + reboot. It looks like the TS then finishes. I followed the document provided by HP: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04920485And used a Unattend.XML with the settings as described in Appendix-B of this document. It looks like the Commands from the Unattend.XML work, because Write-filters get enabled. But Somehow it seems the Tasksequence is not completely finished when the write-filters get enabled. Pls. any suggestions to get a smooth deployment with write-filters enabled?

I am currently converting our t610 thin clients from windows embeddded over to the smart zero software. I have had zero issues with windows pe but on the test batch of 30 thin clients that I have installed and configured for smartzero, I am having an issue. Whenever they are rebooted, sometime they will come up in PXE boot instead of booting to the hard drive and the only way to get them to boo tback to the hard drive is to physically pull the power. Any one have any thoughts on this?

Not sure how you have configured the SCCM server, but as far as I know, it could be possible to set network boot as only boot method via SCCM.

Hello message board! Just a few questions here I can not seem to find out via Google, manuals, and reading other forum posts... We are attempting to utilize a t610 with the Linux based o.s. and are running into a few hurdles... I have seen on "Windows" based thin clients, after you make a change to something, you must "Commit" the changes... Is there a way to do this on a Linux box? It seems that the o.s. partition is Read Only?? Also, is there a way to navigate files and folders on this type of thin client? I see the terminal in "Admin" mode and I can kind-of nav files and folders through the text editor, but I am at a semi-loss doing things this way... I know this may be a stupid question, but is there a way to re-image this thin client to a "Windows" based o.s.? The main problem I am experiencing is an add-on/extension in firefox is not "sticking" in my firefox browser.... I have installed the extension many times, and after I restart the browser, it is gone and my settings are reverted to "original"... I am taking a guess here, but I am guessing every time this client "reboots" it is booting to an image?? One last question, is there any "manuals" for these Linux based clients? I see most or all of the helps seems to be geared towards Windows, and would just like a reference... Thanks for reading!Brandon

If you're talking about the HP ThinPro OS- Before you can make changes to the file system, you need to run this command from the terminal - "fsunlock". When you're done, "fslock" locks the file system again. There isn't another file explorer tool included that I'm aware of in ThinPro. Command line and the notepad tool are the only real ways to navigate the file system. If you're looking for help with something, keep in mind it is basically a stripped-down version of Ubuntu, with some extra utilities and GUI provided by HP. The nuts and bolts are the same as an Ubuntu build so I've gotten quite a bit of insight from Ubuntu forums online for problems that I've had. As for your browser extensions issue, depending on how you're doing this, you can configure connections to allow them to configure their own settings, or to use HP ThinPro settings. If you haven't allowed Firefox to create and use its own settings in the file system, nothing you change inside the browser will stick. I haven't tried installing a browser extension but I'm pretty sure that's where your problem is.

Dear community,we are using ~60 HP t610 Plus Thin Clients in a computer pool that connect via HP ThinPro to a Citrix farm. In ordner to manage the clients we use the Software HP Device Manger (4.6). When we restart all Thin Clients via HPDM remotely, approximately 5-10% of these hang on boot with the message "No boot device" found. Even after a soft reset (ctrl+alt+delete) the same message appears. The only way to boot the clients into the OS is to shut them down completely and power them on again. Each client has a 16GB SATA drive with HP ThinPro installed on it. For me it seems that this device is sometimes not found on boot. Bios Version in use on all clients is 1.16 (K30). Anyone else got this problem and can it be fixed by a bios upgrade? Thank you very much for your help! Best regardsDennis

Hello, We have a lot of new T610 Thin Clients, nearly 100, and I have several problems when they reboot. They automatically reboot 3 times per day. We have an image that works perfect on T5730 and T5740 Thin Clients, but not in the T610. The only difference is that in T610 automatically enters as administrator. Some of them, randomly, get frozen when rebooting or I get a blue screen. Theses problems dissapears when I locally reboot them again pushing the button. But it usually appears again in another reboot. This doesnt happen in all of them, but on most of them. 0x000000F4 seems to be the power supply, but they are 100% new...0xC000021A seems to be winlogon.exe, the autologin to Administrator I suppose... These are pictures taken from the errors when rebooting T610. Frozen desktop, it starts rebooting and get frozen like this:Thi is the worst error, because if I get blue screen I can tell windows to automatically reboot, but when it freezes, I can do nothing and I have to locally reboot pushing the button..  Error 1:  Error 2:   Thank you very much.

Hello. Currently we are running about 40 T610 Thin Clients using the Win7 Embedded Image. I have made a simple configuration image by setting it up to automatically RDP to one of our servers in Kiosk Mode, and copying the image using the HP tool to a flash drive. I then booted each thin client from that USB drive to roll out the image. After a long and repetitive procedure of rolling out the configuration, we have started experencing some issues. Many of the T610s have started either bluescreening on startup - not allowing the unit to be used at all. Also, many of the thin clients experience a trust relationship issue. Both issues I fix by reimaging them completely. The issue is recurring, and doesn't show signs of slowing down at all.  We run Sophos Antivirus on all machines, and to prevent them from having to update too often, we run the clients with the write filter disabled. Can anyone advise as to what we need to do to prevent these systems from failing at the rate they currently are? Thanks.

Hi Coretex, A few things that may help us help you...-Are there any errors immediately after you image from USB? -When you get the blue screen, what message are you receiving along with it?-On a blue screened unit, are you able to boot into safe mode and access event viewer?  -Please elaborate on the trust relationship issue.  What are you accessing, and do you receive an error message? Potential Work Around:  For a fleet of 40, it may be helpful to set up HP Device Manager and start from scratch.  This will enable you to image all 40 units at once within about a half hour.  Start from a factory image, reconfigure it your kiosk image, and then deploy it to all your units.  The software is free and fairly easy to set up.-Chad

Hi all, I am trying to upgrade the BIOS version on a T610 thinclient running thinpro 5.2 and managed by HPDM 4.7 SP5. I started creating a task to deploy the bios.bin file and execute the hptc-bios-flash command and install the updated bios. The task deploys the files great but fails the bios upgrade, HPDM says command line error. So....... I went to try and run the command locally on a machine, it also fails. hptc-bios-flash -y /tmp/biosfilename.bin executed locally from a terminal window on the thinpro device returns the following error: Transferring system ROM...... Error: Cannot transfer this image! Im not too sure where to go from here, I tried manually copying the bios.bin file and also downloaded a fresh copy and tried that. It does the same. SP71296 is the HP SoftPaq number and K30_0120.bin is the BIOS file, this should be the one for a T610 thin client. I am trying an earlier BIOS version as a last resort until I get any kind or suggestion on here. SP65515 is the earlier version. 1.18 Thanks Tom.

I am trying to create a remote connection to my server at work (os ms windows 2003) - I currently have the vpn in place but the software I need to access requires a thin client. Do I need any additional hardware ? or can I run the software directly on the server to accomplish the same thing. also is there a certain type of thin client software that i should use? The software company said they have used "graph on" thin client before? I think that this company may be oob - because I can't find them. Any help would be appreciated!!! thank you

A:thin client

software usage has nothing to do with running a thin client.
the software needs to be installed/running from the server.

You ran the rras wizard and setup the vpn.
Now you need to logon remotely from any pc using remote desktop.
Test local RDP access before moving on to access from home.

Did you disable the Write Filter that the change gets applied? Also the driver might need more space on the ramdrive. You could enhance the ramdrive for that. Also you could change the Temp Folder via Control Panel - System - Advanced - Environment Variables and changes the Variables TEMP and TMP in "User variables" and "System variables" to a different drive / network drive.and after a successful installation undo those changes.

Thin Client - winxp embedded -made by 'wyse' model '9650xe'
I am an Admin for our small network and we are experiancing a Thin Client issue. we run pc's,terminals, and thin clients on our network. the rest of the machines are booting just fine, the issue lies with the thin clients. When we boot(or restart) the thin clients with the network cable in, it gets stuck at the "intel boot agent" when it should be recieving its Ip address and won't go any farther then that.

If we start the thin client without the network cable plugged in it will boot up to the desktop just fine and then we plug the network cable in and it gets its IP address with no problems.

sort of a strange issue but have seen much worse in the past. we can't seem to figure this one out though and i was hoping for some assistance from the experianced admins here at BC.

All of your advice and expertise are appreciated, Thanks in advance!!

I'm not a network admin, however I can offer my still offer my advise.

Could the Thin Client be trying to do a network boot and not being able to complete it hangs at the intel boot agent?

Might work if your key shows up as a disk drive and you have checked the box to on the Local resources tab of the connection to automatically connect local drives.

Would be good to know what TS you are connecting to and the client version.

Hi all,

I'm doing some work on a Windows XPe - HP thin clent machine, i have an issue where the anti virus service needs to be stopped and restarted on login...nice and simple, i've created a batch net start, net stop command and chucked it in the all users startup folder and given full control over it to the normal user.....HOWEVER the first one i created i had typed the name of the service incorrectly so i edited it and it worked fine, however when i then rebooted the machine the old batch file came back.....tried deleting the batch file and rebooting but the batch file still came back :|
Anyone got any wisdom as to why? I.E. is it cashing the info or something? and how do i permentanly delete and recreate?
Help much appreciated

Joe

Dear All, Please I need help with selecting the best server for my school to use in our lab. We need a server specification that can be able to support 100 users using L300 vspace client workstations to login to the server running windows 10. Currently, we are having issues with slowness in computing power when users login.  We are running graphic design applications and all users need to access it concurrently.  As mentioned, we are using ncomputing vspace server and thin-client devices. Thanks for your support

We are testing a 420 thin client and all seems to work fine except when logged into an RDP session to our 2012R2 server farm, usb storage drives/keys are not recognised. Everything seems to be set ok on the thin client in Local resources and the usb key is recognised when doing a usb diagnose. Other usb devices are fine , wireless keyboards and mice dongles , etcAny thoughts on how to get them recognised in windows explorer
