Preferred Solution: when I plug my PCI mouse in, it beeps and doesn´t work...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: when I plug my PCI mouse in, it beeps and doesn´t work...

I think you mean you have a PS/2 mouse. Try another mouse, and see if that cures the problem. If not remove the mouse from Device Manager and on re-boot let Windows re-detect it to see if that helps.

Hi. I have four HP Envy notebook computers that I use regularly at work. Suddenly, starting up one day, all four computers stopped connecting to our wireless network. I tried at a different wireless network and neither of the computers still cant connect. I even tried a third and still no result. All of my other computers that runs Windows 10 (2 Acer, 1 Asus, 8 iMac) are still able to connect to all of the wireless networks. I even run Windows 10 on all 8 iMacs and they can still connect to all of the networks. And there hasnt been any chances to the wireless network. Strange thing is when I bring the computers to my home they can find my wireless network at home, all four of them with no problem. Ive tried all Windows repair and HP assistant and none of it works. Ive updated to the latest drivers and all I can think of. What can have happened. Ive noticed it has been a Windows update, but if that update have affected the network drivers,  how can it the work at home. I can also add that all four laptops work if I use Ethernet. Hope someone can help out. //Richard

Hello @Richard63, Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I read your post about the WiFi issue, and wanted to assist you!  I understand that the Envy notebooks will no longer connect to the network.  However, they all connect to your home network.   If you believe an update to be the cause, you can try performing a System Restore, to set the notebooks back to their previous working states.  You can also try uninstalling the network drivers, then restarting the notebooks.  This should allow the system to install compatible drivers.  If you continue to have issues with the notebooks only connecting to the home network, then you may consider restarting/resetting the router.  Please post back with the results. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Yesterday i installed a PCI wifi card in my pc after which my sound completely stopped working, i have tried updating drivers, selecting the right speakers in the windows control panel and pretty much any other suggestion i found on other sites. My concern is that i might have damaged my motherboard while installing the PCI (I hit it with a screw driver when trying to remove my GPU to fit the PCI in), and that this is the cause of the problem. Do you have any other ideas on how i can fix my sound in windows or should i just assume i damaged the motherboard and buy a soundcard/ a new motherboard?

A:Solved: PC sound doesn´t work.

The test is to remove the wireless card, as of course beofre you installed this the sound worked
If it then still does not work and there are no warnings shown in device manager for the sound then I think you can presume that you have indeed damaged the motherboard.
That said, is the sound coming from the integrated sound chip or from the GPU

Hi all,
I purchased a used IBM T41 laptop with WinXP and everything was working fine: cable and wireless internet, Dvd reader , wireless signal (like antenna) was flashing at the bottom of the screen, .
I had some problem and reinstalled OS: deleted partition and formatted into NTFS, install fresh WinXP.
I didnt get any error during installation, but some problem came after: internet, wireless connection, USB drivers, DVD reader and many other.
I couldnt find network adapter name in the Device manager.
To fix this problem I download drivers from IBM site and try one by one to install it.
Finally my internet start to work and I do not have any yellow question mark in Device Manger, but wireless internet and dvd writer do not work.
Network Adapter( in the Device Manader) and Network Connection display only cable internet device and do not have Wireless device type. Also, I have Wireless Link and Wireless Network icons on the Control panel.
Why wireless doesnt work? How can I fix it?
Is this possible that my laptop did not have wireless card before?
Is this possible that card stopped to work after reformatting to NTFS?

Thank you

I have a lenovo z50-70 laptop with a built in cam. The cam works on skype, whatsapp, websites on firefox, and the built in Lenovo camera app. When I go on websites on google chrome that use the webcam it will not work even though those websites are always allowed to use the cam on chrome and the settings are not blocking camera use. Chrome is up to date along with the laptop cam driver. I even tried with all chrome extensions disabled and it still doesn't work.

Examples of websites are https://www.onlinemictest.com/webcam-test/, https://webcamtests.com/
The Cam will not work on chrome on these or any other websites that I have tried, but it works just fine on those same websites on firefox.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Exact same problem on Windows 10.
Tried all of six steps above, including buying three new cables in step 6 one of those was the specific cable recomended by HP support.
Make 9 calls to HP  and 4 calls to Microsoft. HP signed me up for their paid Freinds Support and I called them 5 times.
I tried the monitor on a surface Book, and Asus Desktop and a Dell Destop. Did not work on any of them. I have installed the latest drivers multiple times and update the firmware in my laptops, Surface Dock and Asus Desktop.
HP connected to my Surface Book several times and installed two different - third psrty partitioning programs. One didn't work the other did but it was a trial version and wanted more money than I felt it should cost.
I'm using it as a single monitor with no partitioning. It mostly works but has some strange events where the mouse clicks are off by several undred pixles. rebooting fixes that.
Now I have atiny little spider runing arround under the front glass. Very distracting. How did it even get in there? I would have thought the area between the glass and the disply would be sealed arround the edges.

Essentially, everything is wrong with my computer and I have no way to fix it. The first problem arose about a year ago. My laptop battery suddenly wouldn?t register any charge, and could only be used while plugged in. I thought that might be a battery issue, but, a few months later, I replaced the battery and still had the same issue. Next, I started getting the ?blue screen of doom,? the Kernel Data Inpage Error. My laptop began to consistantly stop working after a few hours of use: webpages would stop loading, files wouldn?t open after being clicked, and then the mouse and screen would become unresponsive. Most of the time, I turn the computer off, unplug it, and restart it to resume use. However, if I left the computer on, it would either give a black screen reading ?all boot options are tried,? or the blue Kernel Data Inpage Error screen (the Kernel Data Inpage Error is the rarer of the two). It would last longerer the less I used it and after repeated sessions of rebooting after freezing, it would only last a few minutes. It also took a while after startup before it could open programs or load websites, but besides this, it still functioned as a proper computer, so, while frustrated and constantly attempting to find a solution, I dealt with it. However, recently, it?s begun to have errors opening any program not factory installed with windows or Google Chrome (I have no idea why Chrome, other browsers won?t open). Originally, I received an error box that... Read more

When I went from Win 7 to Win 8 I lost my Bluetooth with both laptop and desktop.
I have a Dell wireless mouse and a usb plug in the back of the desktop.
The mouse worked fine for a long time but lately has been failing to open Word the first time I double click.

I have 2 questions;
if I lost BT how does the mouse communicate with the usb plug and

is there anything I can do mechanically to get them to communicate or the mouse to work as it did?

Thank you

A:Mouse and usb plug

What do you mean by lost Bluetooth? My laptop and desktop did not come with Bluetooth built in. However I can add a USB Bluetooth dongle to get that functionality. I use several Logitech wireless keyboards and Trackballs. The USB Unifying receiver does the Bluetooth part of it. If your USB receiver showed up as being a Bluetooth device but doesn't now, reinstall the drivers for it from the manufacturer. Also check or replace the batteries in the mouse.

This seems to happen on my desktop only sometimes after I have remoted into my desktop using remote desktop (tongue twister?).

It used to be that it would beep whenever I move the mouse or click buttons. Clicks weren't registered. The only way to fix it was to logoff and log back on. I finally got fed up with this, and did a refresh (I am running Windows 8.1 Pro).

I got most of my apps reinstalled, and life was good. Well, today this problem is back, but slightly different--it only beeps when I click buttons on my mouse. I can't log off for several hours because I'm in the middle of rendering video. This is extremely irritating. Any ideas on this? I'm currently using mouse keys to do the clicking for my mouse until I have time to log off.

This problem is kind of difficult to explain, so if you need more clarification, please ask.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition with service pack 3. My browser is Mozilla Firefox. My mouse is wireless, but don't think that is important. When I click on the icons on my desktop to open a program or even my browser Firefox, my mouse makes a beep sound when I click on the icon. It beeps only once and then the program opens with no difficulty. In Windows Explorer, it doesn't beep when I click on the folders or the files. It just does it on my desktop Icons.
It doesn't hurt anything, but it is very annoying and I would like to make it stop..It just started today, and I think I probably, somehow changed a setting somewhere. I have gone into the Control Center, and the Sounds and Audio Properties, under Internet Explorer, but don't see anything that might be related to my problem.
Any help appreciated .

Hi folks!

i got a brandnew dell pc (2,8Ghz Pentium D, Win XP Media Center Ed.). And i got a problem with the Hama S1 Gaming Mouse:

The mouse has 2 additional buttons and a wheely. Without installing the Driver, the wheely does not work after each reboot. I have to re-plug the mouse (pulling the usb-plug out of the pc and reconnecting it) to make the wheely work.

IF i install the driver (downloaded newest version), and use the software to configure the additional buttons (for going forward and backward in browser for example), they don't work, none of the 2 additional buttons seems to work properly. And i got the same problem with the wheely - it only works after replug.

any ideas?

When I start running programs, multiple programs that is, sometimes my mouse will freeze. and within the time frame of that freeze, if I left-click/right-click, my speakers will start to beep at me twice, they're not long beeps, really short, moderately pitched beeps through my headphones, not my computer. The freeze will clear itself after about 4 seconds.
My system are as follows:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
Motherboard: M5A78L-M LX Series
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4094MB RAM
Page File: 3705MB used, 4481MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Current Displayed Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit)(60Hz)
I am also using a Razer Deathadder mouse and a Microsoft SideWinder X4.
Not too sure what's wrong but I have a feeling that it has something to do with ram or something.

My issue is with the mouse touch pad of my HP Elitebook: after I have hibernated/put to sleep the laptop for a few times (not shut down completely), then I make it again on - and when I touch the mouse pad, there is a funny beeps-beeps-beeps signal coming, which is very disturbing. Then I can use the alternative mouse which is a small ball in the middle of the keyboard, but its difficult to use, so I have to close all programs and to shut down the laptop completely. After that the mouse pad starts working fine, but after a few times of hibernating/sleeping the laptop, the problem appears again. How can I get rid of this terrible beeps-beeps-beeps signal?

Hello guys,

Recently my brother returned from a trip to Shanghai, and he brought me this new mouse. I think it's one of those cheap chinese "gaming" mice, judging from the fact that it has no brand and nothing written on it.
I plugged it in on the USB port (tried both 2.0 and 3.0) and it immediately gave me a BSOD after trying to install the device drivers. I tried this several times, almost everytime it gave a BSOD, except this one time I got it working, but when I unplug and plug again, it goes into BSOD again.

I'm also attaching the dump file. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I used to play games on my desktop with the gamepad connected to front usb. Recently I unplugged it to connect a wireless mosue (another mouse is plugged directly in rear usb).
Now, I removed the front wireless mouse trying to connect my gamepad and what happens is that as soon as i plug the gamepad the rear mouse stops working. Also the computer doesnot recognize the gamepad no matter where I plug the gamepad into any usb port, the pc won't recognize it.

I open the devise manager and see that the front port is highlighted with a yellow flag and says that it is not working properly. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the devise and reboot but doesnot work. Also tried connecting the gamepad while restarting the pc but the computer does not boot.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:mouse turns off when i plug gamepad

The yellow ! would indicate the device in question is not working/functional. Try uninstalling the device and then reboot.

As to the gamepad, if it's not recognized in any USB port, the device is likely faulty. You can verify by testing on another computer.

On the start of some applications the computer will halt. The mouse time-glass will stop animating and nothing will respond. The mouse can still be moved however, but nothing can be clicked on. After a few clicks, the computer will beep on each click. Must hard-reset the computer to regain control.

As I said, this happens when some applications are started, but not everytime, and I have no idea when it will happen. It has happened with Xfire, Trillian, Steam games (bioshock, peggle, company of heroes) off the top of my head.

I have reformated three times to fix this. The first time it ALWAYS froze when I started Xfire, didn't get to test many other programs, but it worked fine in Safe Mode. So I reformated, and installed applications until it started again, it started after a reboot installing .NET framework 3.0. 3rd time I reformated I never installed the .NET framework 3.0 and instead used 2.0 and still get the problem. I believe Xfire, the .NET framework, and the freezing are unrelated.

Another note, I used nLite to slipstream drivers and service pack into my installation, I only used this on the 1st and 3rd format, so I believe it has little to do with my issue.

I have run MEMTEST overnight to 7 or 8 passes with zero errors.

I am running Windows XP SP3.

My computer isn't very old, no more than a year, it's been working fine. No new software or hardware. I haven't moved it. This morning it wouldn't boot up properly. After clicking the button, it gave 1 long beep and 2 short ones. No signal to monitor. I didn't check keyboard or mouse. All fans appear to be working.
I replugged everything to make sure nothing was loose, and turned it back on. No more beeps, still no signal to monitor. Keyboard and mouse aren't lighting up.
I tried unplugging the power cord and pressing the button to clear the power. Still no beeps, no signal. All fans are still working.

Any suggestions please?

Hi. Didn't find any similar problems on this forum.

About 3 hours ago I left my computer on and went to dinner. When i came back 1 hour later it was in standby-mode - which is normal for my pc. I hit a key and the pc asked for password to unlock the screen. Normal so far. Almost, at least. Even at the screenlock the computer was really slow, it took time before my typing showed at the screen, which isn't normal for my pc. It took about 30 sec from loging in to the screen showed all the things it did before dinner. But still it was really slow - so i turned the pc off, waited 20 mins, turned it on. Everything seemed normal, the Dell-loading screen showed and the loading-bar seemed to having progress. Then the pc shut down the screen (VGA), the mouse and the keyboard(both usb), but it still ran. I turned it off, and on again. But when i started it, neither screen, mouse nor keyboard were functional. And the pc made alot of fast paced beeping sounds, which came from the computer (as opposed to the speakers). I tried rebooting 4-5 times, but no progress. I let the pc run for a bit, and the beeping sounds went away after ca. 10-15 secs, but screen, mouse and keyboard were still offline. The beeping is still there when i boot, but it always goes away after 10-15 secs. Even though the usb-devices mouse and keyboard shut down, it seems like my external harddrive turns on when i boot (also USB, and also powered through USB).

Hello, I have new TP X1 Yoga (3rd gen) and whenever I have a mouse plugged, I cannot use the trackpad. This wouldn't be a problem, but since I have a wireless Logitech mouse, I tend to keep the wireless receiver dongle always on to avoid losing it, and even with the mouse turned off this disrupts the trackpad.  Is this a known bug? Is there something I can do to fix it? Cheers and thanks in advance,Leo

My new mouse is not getting detected when I start my PC. I have to unplug & plug to make it work every time. It works on another PC fine. My USB ports are fine and my earlier USB mouse still works fine. I removed-install driver from Device Manager, but no use.
My laptop: Dell Inspiron 3443 on Windows 10
My mouse: Prolink Furax PMG9002 (gaming mouse)
I think the problem is that the mouse need more power than the ports can supply, maybe?
Any idea how to fix this?

Hi all,

My clients new computer beeps after she clicks the mouse fast to play her internet games. It is not game specific and have tried a few different mice, MS optical trackball/usb and MS wheelmouse/ps2 to no avail. Also, there are no error messages such as " The ring buffer that stores incoming mouse data has overflowed (buffer size is configurable through the Registry)."

Have tried the reg edit

To make the value for MouseDataQueueSize larger. I started at the default of 100 (decimal) and am currently at 10500 but there is no diference. Am I at the right reg key? There are many others with the "MouseDataQueueSize" entry. I found one under "CurrentControlSet001" and "CurrentControlSet002" and others. Is this even my problem? Could it be a bios setting or a mobo jumper setting? If anyone can help, please reply post or e-mail me at [email protected]

Any input would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

This is going to be my first post on this forum and i am not sure if I am posting on the right place if so, feel free to delete it or move it where it belongs.

So... here is the problem:
A few days ago I connected my PC to my fathers TV. Everything was working fine until I decided to change the resolution. After I changed it I did not get blank screen instantly like you normally do if the resolution is not supported by the TV (which is not, but I found out that later). Then I restarted the computer and I got "no signal" on the TV, fans were spinning, hdd was spinning, my sound card glowing, and no power to my keyboard or mouse. I have no beeps too, but I can't say for sure because I noticed I don't have an iternal speaker.

Things I have done so far:
-Reset the CMOS
-test the ram and videocard on another computer, both working perfectly fine
-use different cables
-use different monitor that does not support that aspect ratio either and end up getting the same result
-remove the GPU and plug the HDMI cable on my mobo instead, same result
-remove the CPU power 4pin to see if something different happens. Yes it does fans spin for like 2 seconds and then the PC turns off
-plug and unplug HDD and SSD

I can test with my brothers CPU, but I will have to wait to get my thermal paste delivered to me

A:Black screen (no signal), no beeps, no power to mouse and keyboard

some boards have internal speakers now. if you ever had beeps, you know that something failed.
and switching resolutions was not the cause
besides keyboard the hdd indicator on the case might give you an idea wether windows is booting and you do have a display problem.
i'ts a good idea to take the mobo out of the case, try to get mobo+ram+gpu to work. short-circuit power on pins on the mobo with eg a screwdriver to power on.
other than that, you can only swap parts until stuff works again. ram and gpu were smart starting points. i recommend PSU next. mobo is possible, cpu failure very unlikely. 1 in 10.000.
