x380 Yoga charged through ultra dock?

Q: x380 Yoga charged through ultra dock?

I'm trying to see how to charge the x380 Yoga through the Ultra Dock we have just purchased. It seems like i need to have BOTH the DOC and a seperate charger connected - is this really true? Thanks for your help in explaining this. p.s. you can't do a Network boot through the ultra dock either, for that you need to seperate mini network cable.

Preferred Solution: x380 Yoga charged through ultra dock?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,I've read in the technical data sheet that this machine supports up to 3 displays. I know some dockingstations exist (TB3 and USB-C) but these are quite expensive and not sure if I really need all the other interfaces they bring with them ...So, I wonder if it is possible and how with simple connectors/adapters to connect 3 (or at least 2) external displays to the X380. I'm not using the internal display at all as the device is located in a small shelf. Here are my thoughts: I would use the HDMI directly to one of my external displays and in addition use adapters via USB-C and TB3, but I don't know how to reasonably mix all of these, e.g. 1 HDMI + 1 USB-C + 1 TB3 or 1 HDMI + 2 USB-C (which adapter?) or 1 HDMI + 2 TB3 (which adapter?) or 2 HDMI ... or ... or ...Did anyone find any information how this could be configured properly or made some experiences already? Thanks,Ronny.

Hi there, I got a new Yoga X380 that is connected to the USB-C dock. The dock has (besides monitors, ethernet and some USB stuff) a Microsoft LifeCam connected via USB that I used already on my old device for some years now. And here the trouble begins: When I connect the webcam to the dock, I get a flickering picture from the webcam so I cannot use it for video conferencing at all. When I connect the webcam to the X380 directly, it works fine, but this is quite impractical because I have to plug in/out two cables every time I leave/come back to my working place. Similar issues with a Microsoft StudioCam that I tested, too. Any ideas what I could do?  Thanks a lot and best regards!

Hello,I have just received a new X380 Yoga laptop which I connected to a Lenovo USB c Dock.I have an external monitor linked via VGA or DVI, but in both cases the fonts in my Microsoft Office Products are pretty blurry. My wife has a Lenovo P51s and everything is working fine.Resolution is set to 1920 x 1080. Which is support by the monitor (just purchased a new HP z22 for this reason). Anyone any idea?Only way it works fine is when I duplicate the screen instead of extended or external only. But the fonts are big and I can't benefit from my 16:9 external monitor. It is pretty frustrated. KrgdsYannick

Hi community,  I'm expiring strange issues on some of our X380 Yogas when working with a USB-C Dock (Type 40A0). The cursor starts to freeze for a second, and then jumps, sometimes the keyboard types unwanted letters (I don't know the english word for it, but e.g. I would like to type Thinkpad, and out comes Thinkpaaaaaaaaaaad or Thinnnnnnnnnnkpad), and on a connected USB Headset the audio quality is bad. This happens only with USB devices connected over a USB-C Dock, if directly attached to the Yoga its fine. Also the internal Keyboard and Trackpoint are working fine. There are not always all 3 problems the same time. And usually after a clean boot everything is OK, it happens only after undocking, and docking in again.  On some computers having that problem, installing the USB-C Dock Firmware update fixed it. But on some others it does not. Anyway installing this Update is a pain, since it cannot be installed unattended. Maybe any ideas here? I have not contacted Lenovo support yet about this. Regards, DJ

I am running 2 monitors (Dell U2414H @ 1920 x 1080 60Hz) on my ThinkPad USB 3.0 Ultra Dock.  I also have my Yoga 900 monitor on and the desktop is extended to all monitors.  I have a regular issue where the Displayport monitor turns off for 1-3 seconds then comes back on for no apparent reason.  I have searched the internet and the only similar issue I have found suggestes the dock is under powered to run 2 monitors however that does not seem consistent with what other people are doing.  There is no particular application that causes the issue. Can anyone help?  It's very frustrating waiting for the monitors to come back on.

Hello.
Hoping you can help me here...
I have an X380 Yoga with the USB-C dock.  I bought 2 ACER monitors, each with 2 HDMI ports.  Using HDMI-to-DisplayPort adapters, I have both plugged in to the dock, yet I can only get one of the monitors to actually display anything.  This is all being with my laptop display in use, so I'm not sure if that is coming into play.

Any assistancce/insight you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Barry

I've got multiple Thinkpad X380 Yoga with the USB C docking station. External keyboard and mouse are working pretty well in the Windows environment. But when i reboot the PC and want to enter my Bitlocker Password nothing happens. Only the keyboard of the notebook is working.
The Bios option to enable Thunderbold devices in pre boot environment is set to enabled and I can also use my external keyboard in the bios to navigate.

Both bios and USB C Firmware are up to date, windows driver arer properly installed.

Whats missing or what do I have to do to make the external keyboard working with Bitlocker?

I intend to buy the HP Pro x2 612 G2 detachable PC.  This computer has only one USB-C port which is also used for connectivity and charging. I will use this computer to deliver presentations with a projector.  Therfore I will buy the HP USB-C Travel Dock (part # T0K29AA) and connect it to the computer's single USB-C port.  The HP USB-C Travel Dock has two USB ports, one of them is a USB-C port.  The setup will be: the computer will be connected to the HP USB-C Travel Dock and the power supply will be connected to the USB-C port on the HP USB-C Travel Dock.  So the question is:   can the HP Pro x2 612 G2 computer be charged via the HP USB-C Travel Dock? Please help.Thanks.

A:Can a laptop be charged via the HP USB-C Travel Dock?

The USB-C Travel Dock does not have a USB-C port on the dock.  The dock has an HDMI port, a VGA port, an RJ45 port and two USB-A ports.  One of the USB-A ports is a USB 3.0 port (note the SS above the port).  If you wish to charge the 612 x2 G2 via the dock while presenting you will need a different dock. Here are some ideas. HP USB-C Travel Hub (Z9G82AA) http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA6-9305ENW.pdf This Travel Hub provides 1 HDMI port, 1 VGA port, 2 USB-A ports and a USB-C power in port. If you want more capabilities from the dock. HP Elite USB-C Dock (X7W54AA) http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA6-3246ENW.pdf This dock will allow you to charge the 612 x2 G2 and provide you with a USB-C port (SS), 4 USB-A ports (2 of which are SS), an RJ45 port, 2 DisplayPorts, 1 HDMI port and an audio jack.  The dock also comes with a USB-C cable to attach the dock to the 612 x2 G2.   This is a larger dock but it will allow you to connect nearly anything you with to the 612 x2 G2 while still being able to charge the system. Joel

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

Hi,I recently ordered a Thinkpad X380 Yoga. I was wondering whether it is possible to use an SSD with msata form factor in the WWAN card slot. Thanks in advance.

A:X380 yoga msata SSD?

Hello and welcome,

I can't find any reference on the web or in the X380 base spec that indicates this is possible.  My guess is NO, but can't really verify one way or the other.

I can say that mSATA should not be part of the conversation.  The WWAN slot is m.2 NOT mSATA.  mSATA has not been used in Lenovo products for several generations.

I've come across a pretty weird problem. When I used my pen last it worked fine, but now it's having trouble when I try to click. Hovering works fine, but any time I try to click on anything on the desktop or within an app, it won't do anything. When I try to click in a browser, it usually does nothing, except for Microsoft Edge, which crashes completely, and Chrome, which works perfectly with the pen. I spent a few hours in pen settings and looking online for help but wasn't able to do much to fix the problem. In pen settings, it says that I haven't used my pen at all since September (although I've used it within the past few weeks with no problems). Any tips/ideas?

Hi Lenovo Community, I'm facing pretty strange CPU Performance problems on the X380 Yoga with i7-8550U CPU. The CPU performance becomes very bad after some operating time. I understand the X380 has a limited cooling capacity, but this behaviour is pretty strange. Environment: X380 Yoga, i7-8550U, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 1703 Enterprise, SCCM Driver Package used for image building and installation. Bios Version 1.14 installed (most recent one). Drivers are all checked, and are the most recent version. Speed Step Settings in Bios are on Max Performance, on OS also on Max performance. Running Standard Office applications, like Outlook, Skype, Firefox and some management tools. After system boot everything is performing fine for about 1 hour. (I wasn't able to  record the exact time so far). After this, the system starts to get really slow, and shows a bad response time. As soon as some CPU load is applied, the CPU clock in Task Manager goes down, also the CPU load is not able to reach 100%. The CPU Temperature does not go over about 60° at this point. Directly after the system start it goes up to about 85°C. I monitored the CPU with HWMonitor, and put some stress to the Laptop using Prime 95. After some minutes Torture Test I see following values in HWMonitor (see attachment Prime 1.jpg) After about 1 hour run time, I see following: (see attachment Prime 2.jpg) So, the CPU Clock is far down, all temperatures are not really high, no... I have a few thousand Ultra Dock scattered across NA. We are in the process of replacing all monitors attached to these docking stations. Before we can send someone to replace the monitors, which maybe VGA, DVI, HDMI or DP, I need to determine how each monitor is connected to the computer. This is so that I can ensure that the correct cables and monitors are sent to each location. This last piece I already have done using a 3rd party software, they use details collected from Windows to detect the monitor connection type and it works perfectly on all computers and docking stations.  However, what we have noticed is that on the Ultra Dock no matter what monitor connection type (VGA, DVI, HDMI, or DP) is used, the Ultra Dock always shows that they are connected via DP. My questions are:Is this a known issue with Ultra Dock's?Is there a way to have the Ultra Dock show the true monitor connection type? If so how can this be done?

Hi For some reason I cannot draw with my Pen on my new x380 yoga.I tried it when I just got it. Just to see if it worked. The cursor is following the pin.But when I touch the pen to the screan and start drawing nothing happens.I cannot draw with my fingers, it shows where my fingers have be, as it dos when using it as a tablet. But it dos not draw. And it draws when I am using the mouse as "normal". It also seems that sometimes the program would just close it self, for no reason.  I have tried cleaning the screen, and installing the WinTab driver. The Lenovo Pen settings shows that the pin is at 100% battery.I have tried resetting the settings to default, but nothing happens. I am seriosly disapointet it the pen is broken before I ever got to use it.

Hi, I am looking for some help, I have a T450 that has been working away on a Thinkpad Ultra Dock with no issues, then all of a sudden it will not charge while docked!! Take it out of the dock and charge directly and it works fine, I tried replacing with a new docking station the exact model but again it does not charge the laptop while in the dock, I have switched out the battery and it is still the same. I have fully updated the BIOS etc and still have the same issue, I tried updating the Ultra Dock firmware but run into issues as the firmware update will only run while docked and also has power, but as the laptop is not detecting power I cannot proceed , I tried updating out of the dock but it does not proceed either as it cannot detect the docking station. Everything else works via the docking station HDMI, USB, DVI, Ethernet  all working perfect, has anyone came accross this issue?

I would like my screen on the T440 to be visible on an external screen (Philips TV) using the HDMI connection from the dock. I have read the other contributions containing the upgrad to firmware 2.30, but the solution is not stable.Occasionally, using this sequence would give a result, but seldom:1. Apply power to TV set, but do not turn it on2. Apply power to the Ultra dock3. Place the T440 in the dock and turn it on (usually from sleep)4. Turn on the TVBut on most occasions, both screens turn black, and it is not possible to get any picture on either PC or TV (which just states "no signal")When it works, both picture and sound comes over fine (in control panel, the TV sound function has to be set active)Connecting the TV directly from the T440 using a dvi-hdmi converter cable works flawlessly. What do I do wrong?

so - I tried saving money on a 2nd ultra dock for my W540 (I have 2 offices I travel between with desks setup..) And I bought something off ebay for an OK price.. Despite the dock and power supply being described in the auction body as the 170W version, when it showed up it's actually the 90W version... Now the dock and power supply came halfway across the world from Israel, so I'm preferring not to have to waste my time and money sending it back. The vendor has offered me $20 refund to keep it and use it as-is, which I think is pretty unfair seeing it's their mistake, and it'll cost more than that to make it good I think.... On the flipside, if I send this back at my cost it'll be $30-$40 to send.... and what if it goes missing on the way back? I was hoping that even though the part numbers on the actual docks are slightly different (my old one = SD20A06041, this new one = SD20A06046) they look pretty much identical, and  I can still at least use this new dock at 2nd office , and continue to lug my power supply between offices. Am I right here? Would prefer to ask rather than try as trying involves opening the plastic on the dock, which is factory sealed right now... also would hate to damage it..Then, Ideally I need to sort out a 2nd PSU as one of the main points of having 2 docks was going to be I didnt have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting and lugging that huge brick from office to office!  I'm wondering wh...
