How do I stop password window from filling up with dots?

Q: How do I stop password window from filling up with dots?

When the password window appears on startup, it immediately fills with dots. I can remove them by backspacing then deleting. How do I stop it from happening?

Preferred Solution: How do I stop password window from filling up with dots?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Feels like your keyboard is malfunctioning.
That its in somekind of loop during bootup. Try with another keyboard.

Or do the super-duper solution. Reset your CMOS Its the big round battery on your mobo. Just jank that out, wait 5-10 sec, plug it back in.
That should erase any unwanted actions from the bootup.

If its a desktop, kinda hard to do that on a laptop. And if you havent done it before, use caution and google how to. Never start fiddeling in a open computercase if you havent done it before.

When the password window appears on startup, it immediately fills with dots and I cannot stop it. I cannot get into my system because I cannot prevent the dots. I have tried the following:

~ deleting the dots -- but they simply reappear
~ pressing enter (in hopes it would allow me to enter a password on the second time),
~ going in through safe mode (same problem exists)
~ go to 'last known good configuration'
~ using on screen keyboard
~ using an external keyboard
~ rebooting

This is on a Dell Pavillion dm4 laptop. Oh, and before this started, I was creating a new user account and the battery died. When I ran to get the cord, my child was pressing the numbers 1-9 repetitively. I did try to let it fill for a few minutes thinking it may just need to catch up, but that wasn't it. Something is wrong.

A:How do I stop password from filling?

Can you disable the built-in keyboard via a shortcut? Most laptops have the feature... Then try the external lone again.

When I start up, the computer seems to be typing by itself, filling the password field over and over.  Sometime this occurs in the address bar and other field, and asterisks appear by the dozens/hundreds.  While this is happening the mouse seems to be disabled.  It's hard to explain it's very frustrating.  Can anyone help?

I have a Dell Dimension 3100 that I upgraded to Windows 10, with no adverse effects. I recently added a widescreen monitor and a GT 730 card. This story is told in more detail in another thread. The reason for raising the issue here is that the driver is somehow in conflict and I would like to know if there is a solution
After installing the appropriate NVIDIA driver, Windows 10 will not boot. It gets as far as the black screen with the blue Windows logo and a circle of rotating dots; they spin for a few turns and then stop. I have left it for more than an hour but nothing more happens.
I see lots of threads about the boot sequence stopping with the dots rotating incessantly but none where the dots stop rotating. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

A:Why do the dots stop rotating?

Not sure this would work ....but you could try booting into safe mode BEFORE letting windows boot ....and see if safe mode works.

Not sure which F key your Dell needs ....could be F10, F12 If you can .....then uninstall that Nvidia driver, and try going back to your desktop.

Hi, while using Mozilla the computer froze, so I hard restarted it (holding power button) but then upon boot the dots stop spinning, I have browsed a variety of online forums however most simply say to boot into safe mode, unfortunately it?s not even possible to boot into safe mode, so far I have tried booting into safe mode using a windows 10 installation USB, turning on and off multiple times to get automatic repair (doesn?t even show up), disconnecting all peripherals including wireless mouse/keyboard, resetting bios settings to default yet none have worked. Preferably I want to get into safe mode to remove essential files yet I would even be happy if I could just get the installation USB to boot properly so I can reinstall windows, I have used the installation USB multiple times in the past so I doubt that is the problem, I think that it is most likely a hard drive issue. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this is in the right forum or has been answered before, but I don't know what I should do - I'm having to keep running through my Crive on my MSI (Windows 8) Laptop because every day it seems to reach the red zone. I do system clean ups on it every day so far and its starting to bug me. I don't understand how it can fill up so quick when anything I install either gets directed to the D: Drive or my external hard drive? But when I open the C: drive they are not installed there but the space seems to increase and it makes my PC slower. I have no personal files bar like 4 or five pictures on the main drive because they are on external drives. So what's going on with my Laptop? How can I can stop it from filling up - I swear the only things actually installed on that drive are like chrome and my adobe suit that's it.

So I have a 1TB hard drive. Brand new as of a few weeks ago. The thing is, I shouldn't be anywhere near full yet. I simply haven't got that much stuff. And yet, yesterday Windows warned me my drive is almost full. I looked at it, and had about 2GB left. That is ridiculous. So I refreshed the window, thinking there was an error that might be responsible. The available space went down. It kept going down. I had nothing installing, no torrents going, (in fact my program for that was totally shut down, without even a background process going) nothing that I could figure out was doing anything that should be taking more space like that.

I eventually ran disk cleanup. It found over 4GB of error report files that can be deleted. But the real shock was the 538GB of temporary files. I ran it to clean it up, but only about 3GB got freed up. I opened it again and now there are over 730GB of temporary files. It's almost full again. I can't install my graphics card driver update, I can't update my malwarebytes (which scanned and didn't find anything, as did my other antivirus) definitions, nothing. I cant' even seem to be able to save a picture to edit in GIMP before it fills up again.

Is there a way to figure out why on earth so much temporary data is being created? Just in case this is some sort of virus that malwarebytes hasn't seen yet, I have disconnected my computer from the internet temporarily. I can download things to my phone and transfer if needed. But I have to stop this... Read more

A:My drive is filling itself up. I have no idea how to stop it.

Boot the PC into safe mode and see if the files are still being created. What is the name/extension of the files being created? Can you take a screenshot of a few of the files?

You could also open Resource Monitor and watch the disk activity to see which process is creating the files.

You must be moving the window to close to the top, use Aero snap, grab the window by the right or left hand corner and pull it up to the right or left hand corner and it should automatically fill half the screen.

It`ll take some practice, but you`ll get it.

I did some modification on Windows to regain space on my SSD. Since, one of my 4 monitor does not behave properly. A window enlarge to it's full size, does not use the entire space of the screen. About 1/2 inch in the bottom of the screen is not used. My actual setup is 2 x 21' and 2 x 19' monitors

If I took the same window panel and drag it to one of my other monitor and expand it, all is OK

The faulty monitor is an Acer 203w 19' inch.

I did check the configuration and both 19' inch monitors are set to 1680 X 1050

Is there something else I should check?

This is happening to both Windows 8.1 and 10 PC's & we do not use the Metro interface.
What setting do I modify to prevent this folder from growing in the future?

Hi everyone,
I have an Asus laptop running XP Home, SP3. 80 gig hard dirve, 512 Ram. Earlier today I was able to log into windows using my password but then nothing worked properly, when I tried to open a dialog box or web site the screen would freeze and I had to end task as I couldn't do anything. I wish I had tried system restore when Ihad access to windows but instead I ran my Avast anti virus, malware bytes, super anti spyware,Spybot S & D but they found nothing. Then I ran a program called Windows Clean Up, and I had to reboot after that had finished, I think it just cleans up temp files etc. Then when I tried to boot up again my laptop starts to the windows Log in screen where I type my password but a whole lot of dots appear in the bar where I am supposed to type my password and it won't let me delete the dots or put my password in the bar. I then tried to boot in safe mode but there I still have to put my password in and the same thing happens, then tried safe mode again and tried "last know good configeration" but it did the same thing. I wasn't sure in safe mode what to scroll though again with the up and down arrows.
Could someone please help me.
thank you,

I was playing a video game last night that I have played many times and my computer froze. I rebooted the computer and let windows load up; when my screen saver came on my computer froze again, this time with strange red lines all over the screen. I rebooted a third time and tried the game again, and it froze yet again, this time with red stripes appearing again on the screen.

I rebooted the computer yet again and noticed that on the first screen which has the logo of my computer maker, there were red dots, when windows started loading, there were green dots and Windows never finished loading.

I was able to get the computer to safe mode successfully, but even in safe mode I see faint red horizontal streaks on the desktop (not when I'm using the browser or other apps). The only thing that worked one time in solving this problem was unplugging the computer for half an hour and restarting, I did this when the problem first manifested and Windows loaded fine. But I tried it again last night, letting the computer sit through the night, and I'm having the same problem again.

I haven't installed any new drivers or any new hardware, I'm pretty confused since this is a game that I have played numerous times without issue.

I'm running a Quad-core Q6600 on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. My graphics card is NVidia GeForce 8800 GT.

A:HP Envy 15 i7 Window 8/8.1 - FAN never stop

Hello manageri,

The processor fan is designed to run constantly. Even in a cooler environment, the processor can reach alarming temperatures. A processor can have a longer life if a lower temperature is maintained.

If you find the fan spinning distracting, you may have options to reduce the speed in which it spins. 'Reduce Fan Noise' and 'Why Computers Generate Heat, for your information.

Hey everyone. Just joined. Hopefully some of you kind folk can help me with a problem i'm having. If this is not the right place to ask it, apologies.

Here's the rundown. Went out and bought a SANYO 19 inch LCD tv for the bedroom. Works well enough with DIRECTV.

Problem has been in trying to hook up a DVD player to the video 2 or 3 component. Basically when hooked up, i'm getting sound and black and white picture only. I've tried a DVD player and my directv receiver. Neither will give me anything but black and white picture. Now, through the video 1/s-video hookup, both work great. But if we move to the video 2/3 (Y-Pb-Pr/R-L) hookup, i get screwed.

I'm pretty sure i have the right cables. Green/red/blue. Blah Blah.

I just don't know what i'm doing on my end.

Today, exchanged the tv for another. Same problem.

Any ideas?

Why is this 19 inch nightmare only giving me black and white picture through the video 2 and 3 components?

Any help would be appreciated. Have a great holiday, thanks.

When I open one particular program Win7 animates the window by drawing corners in successfully larger sizes. This slows down the opening of the program. I'd like to find out how to stop Win7 from doing that.

I have already turned off animation. This is an example of what it looks like.

A:How to stop window animation

I believe this is built into the program and would require fiddling with some code that we don't have to stop it from doing that.

Have you checked all the settings in the program to see if there is anything that can switch it off?

This is a problem with the program and not with Windows 7; you may want to try running it compatibility mode for the OS it was originally designed to run on and seeing if that helps.

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

I mistakenly opted to upgrade from windows 8 pro to 8.1 pro through the store this afternoon. All seemed well at first, it downloaded and installed alright and everything seemed to be fine but after a few minutes testing things out I suddenly lost mouse and keyboard completely. I tried rebooting, safe mode etc but to no avail, still no mouse or keyboard. I decided to cut my losses and re-install win 8 pro from disc, which installed correctly and everything seemed to be back to normal. But I noticed that there is a big download going on without my request or knowledge, I have windows update turned off, so I fear Microsoft is again downloading win 8.1 which I now do not want. In the store there is no sign of the update or any activity. So, can I somehow stop this runaway train or do I have to wait and lose more download capacity? I hope if and when it's finished I will be able to say no to terms and conditions and that will be the end of the story or will it be in a continual loop

Grateful for any advice

A:Is there any way to stop window 8.1 upgrade?

You may need to wipe the drive and re-install 8 that way, if there is some download process left over from the Upgrade- I suspect it is downloading the Install Disk for Windows 8.1, and it may be as big as 3 GB.

The system would probably be unresponsive while waiting for the download to finish, on DSL it would take a few hours, on Low BW Cable, maybe half of a Day. Even though you interrupted the install, it is probably still running. Check your Startup Processes, and disable anything that looks like it is related to the UG.

But you might not be able to if the UG runs through BITS. So best bet would be to copy off all of your Data to a backup drive, blank out the drive, and re-install 8.

I scan many documents each day and my image manager automatically saves each image to the location specified by me, which is a folder on the desktop. However, each time I save an image, a "desktop window" opens which lists all the icons and folders I can already see on my desktop. I guess it's trying to give me access to the save location, but since I've selected a folder on the desktop, it's redundant. This window has to be closed each time I save an image because it's in the way of the editing I need to do. It wastes a lot of my time and drives me crazy. Is there a way to disable this action? I am running Vista 64 on an hp laptop. I have a multitask printer with scanner, a Canon Pixma MP830 which captures images with Canon's program "MP Navigator". Navigator allowed me to choose a default location to save all my images (folder on the desktop), but nowhere in their program is there an option to turn off opening a window displaying the "save location" each time I save. Also, I've tried several different save locations with the same "window opening" result. Any ideas? I've already looked over all the "folder options" settings, no help there. Can I modify or delete a registry key? I've only had a little experience with registry keys and I wouldn't know how to identify which one needs work.

Thanks for the help!

You do not state which OS and which browser you use, so I am assuming Windows.

Open Internet Explorer then tools>internet options>connections and check the box "never dial a connection"

I'm using Firefox 8. I keep getting a purple window that opens in the upper right corner of my browser. It seems to show a temporary list of Google items. The last one I saw was Double Click and Google Analytics. Both items had a strike through. Sometimes this list has 6 or 7 items in it with some items with the strike through and some not. There seems to be no way to turn it off when it is in the way, so I just have to wait for it to disappear. Can anyone tell me how to stop this. I see no use for it what-so-ever.

This is on my Mac. Don't remember ever seeing it on the PC, but not sure as I use the Mac most of the time.

A:Solved: Stop purple window - looks like from Google

It seems you have Ghostery installed; http://www.ghostery.com/ It tracks the things that websites use to track you and which you normally aren't aware of. The fact that some of the items you see are struck through indicates that Ghostery is set to block those particular 'web bugs'.

I have it installed in my Opera and Firefox browsers and block everything because I don't want to be 'served' with 'interesting' adverts etc. by the people whose sites/pages I visit.

If you don't like it, you can go into the 'Tools' option in Firefox and click on 'Addons' then 'Extensions' where you should find an option to disable or remove Ghostery. Alternatively, you could click on the 'Options' tab and uncheck the 'Show alert bubble' box or reduce the display time from the default 15 seconds (at least that's the default in my copy - maybe the Windows version is different?)
