ThinkCentre M93Z - display issue

Q: ThinkCentre M93Z - display issue

Every now and then, the screen for my M93Z will become very fuzzy and the colours will skew towards green(ish). Sometimes, temporarily shutting off the screen fixes the issue, sometimes even switching between programs helps (if say one program was a full screen isntance and then the screen goes completely black while switching). Any idea how I can solve this? I am wondering if it's an overheating issue, a graphics issue, or a driver issue... Next time it happens I will take a picture and try to upload it on to here... I tried to screen shot it when it happened but the screenshot picture looks normal :/

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So it is an all-in-one, so that is already 1 monitor. On top of that I would like to add 2 more 27" monitors, making a total of 3. Is that possible? I tried it, but it doesn't recognize the 3rd. I think it might be the outlets that are screwy. The VGA doesn't seem to work well.

We recently purchased 5 ThinkCentre M93z's to complement the 100+ E93z's that we currenlty use in our school district cafeterias. These computers have Windows 7 OS and the only other software we install is Meals Plus software to track students and food purchases. These computers have a Genovation Mini-Terminal model 905-S version 7.20 keypad attached that can either scan a student's ID  card or they can punch in their student ID number to purchase their meals and we install the latest driver for that device. With all 5 of the M93z's we purchased the computers will hang at the Lenovo splash screen (most common) or hang at the Windows Startup screen at the point when you first start to see the colored balls appear. It will stay stuck at this point until you unplug the keypad at which point it will finish booting up.  At point you can plug the device in and use it but once you restart it it will hang up again.  This happened no matter which USB port you use (two on the side or the four on the back). We have never had any issue with the E93z computers.  I have updated the bios. I have removed and reinstalled the lastest USB drivers for this computer.  The bios is set to start up from the hard drive. USB is not one of the startup options. It conistently does this with all 5 of our M93z's. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I've had the ThinkCentre M93 since July 2014. I run it constantly and have only shut it down a dozen times. When I first went to restart the computer, it only got as far as the Lenovo splash page. It would freeze, I would hold the power-on button for seven seconds, it would shut down. Doing this three or four times, and finally it would start windows and I could use the pc again. Suffice it to say, because of this problem, I rarely turn off the machine.A couple of times I used the OS Recovery Disc that I got with the pc purchase. It has helped a few times. But I feel like there is no true solution yet. Everything I try that works is really just luck. Anyone else having this issue? And found a solution yet? Thanks.

I've seen several posts related to this in some way, but either no answer or somewhat different. In any case: The issue I have is that I recently purchased multiple ThinkCentre M700 Tiny's and all of them have the same issue. I can plug in either monitor into either individual display port and have it work, but if I try to plug in both, the second is not recognized and leaves the monitor blank. If I try to detect another monitor in Windows (7 X64 pro), then it shows "Another display not connected" that is available output on Intel(R) HD Graphics 530, but I cant select it, or use it in any way. If I apply, that "monitor" stays there indefinetly and another detect will bring up a 3rd. The monitors are connected directly via DP>DP and DP>DP. I've run Windows Updates entirely. No luck. I've tried removing the intel driver entirely and reinstalling from Windows Updates, no luck. I ran Lenovo System Update and installed all recommended and optional patches. Nothing. I've tried updating the BIOS to FWKT6AA from Lenovo's site. No luck. I've tried switching the monitor mode in BIOS away from auto, no luck and no options to enable dual monitor. I searched through all of the BIOS for any such option. I've upgraded the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver to 20.19.15.4474 (highest on Lenovo's update page) no luck I've tried upgrading the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver from Intel's website directly. I have a Thinkcentre M73 running Windows 10. It has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 graphics card connected to a ViewSonic VA2349 monitor. Since I have had this computer I have had the monitor connected via the VGA port. But since my monitor has a DVI-D port I decided to get a display port to DVI-D cable and try that out. But after I connected that cable I could not get my monitor to recognize it. The monitor has a button that allows toggling between D-Sub and DVI. But when I try to switvh to DVI the screen goes black for a second and then returns to D-Sub. I have tried connecting the display port to DVI-D cable only but it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when having both cables connected. I went into the BIOS to see if there was a setting to enable DVI but there didn't seem to be. I also checked my graphics card preferences and Windows display settings but I couldn't find anything there either.  I am at a loss. I don't think the cable is defective. I just bought it. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple that I am missing. Thanks.

I've gone through every monitor option on both the TIO and the second monitor. I tried updating to the latest graphics drivers, running all Thinkcentre updates and windows updates. I tried installing the TIO driver (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hr/en/products/DESKTOPS-AND-ALL-IN-ONES/THINKCENTRE-TINY-IN-ONE-SERIES/...) and that didn't help. I went into BIOS and enabled Multi-monitor support with no luck. I tried to use both win+p and going to the "display" menu and clicking detect but it sees nothing there. The second monitor has been confirmed to work on any other machine. Anyone else experienced this issue? I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a fix? About every half hour the display will randomly freeze. Computer is still working fine, I can hear sound, and it's simply necessary to turn the display off then on again to get to work again. Very strange and I figure it likely has to do with Intel's graphics chip. Not a very technical guy, so not sure where to  start.

I have Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop (Touch Screen, 15 inches, 16 GB RAM and i7 4th Gen processor, Out of Warranty). Some days back, suddenly the display went dim and anything is hardly visible. After some initial investigation, the display chip (may be VGA or LED display chip) on the motherboard appears to be burnt out (may be due to voltage surge). Even the numbers printed on the chip is not readable because of which it is difficult for the local repairing shops to repair this problem.
I think Dell India Service Center doesn't deal with chip level repair and hence replacing motherboard is the only way they can fix this. This will be very costly (considering that the laptop is not under warranty so will have to pay for warranty extension, motherboard replacement and repair service) and time consuming.
Hence, to avoid all this I have come here to seek some assistance.
If there are anyone using the same laptop (Inspiron 5000 series 5547 Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM) then could you please take a clear picture of your laptop's motherboard or if you recognize the display chip then only that should be sufficient. In this case, I can read the chip related number from the image and try to repair it.
What are the charges for buying a warranty for the laptop, motherboard of my laptop and repairing charge?

Request your response and help.

Regards,
Rohit Kumar

A:Display Issue - Dim Display for Dell Inspiron 5000 (Model 5547) - Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM

You'll have to call Dell about the possibility of a warranty extension;  in the US, it's sometimes possible but will likely run over $300 -- or about what a board replacement would cost.
If you're getting video, the GPU is OK -- and it's more likely the power circuit to the backlight that's bad.  It'll likely cost as much to repair as to replace the board -- though you'll still be putting $300-400 into an out of warranty system, so replacing the system may be a better idea (if you do this, consider buying a 3-year warranty with the next system).

I acquired an old IBM ThinkCentre S51 (8171) from my workplace that was destined for recycling. The system worked up until about 5 months ago when it started having strange lock up issues.

I've since then reinstalled Windows XP from scratch on a blank drive, but now I'm having the same issue as before. It will boot into Windows, then after a minute or two, the screen blanks, the mouse goes dead (no light) and I have to hard power off.

Swapped in known good RAM, but I haven't tried the Processor or the system board, and I've heard that these particular systems had Capacitor issues on the boards.

I'm leaning toward processor, because it started happening after the machine 'warmed up', but I thought I would see what folks here thought.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

A:Extremely Frustrating Issue: IBM ThinkCentre S51 SFF

Have you been able to rule out overheating or a faulty power supply?

I would check the temps in the BIOS, immediately after the PC shuts down...to see what they are.

Also check the processor CPU heat sink/fan to make sure that it's properly connected and the proper amount of thermal
paste exists between the CPU die and the heat sink.

Do you have a known good power supply that you can swap out to rule out the PSU as the culprit?

I have several Lenovo ThinkCentre M900 desktops deployed at various locations around the country, and they're all having the same issue. For some reason, when attempting to move data over the network, the NIC card drops it's connection. It seems to happen with large transfers most often. Attempting to move the users data from their old PCs to this new one would cause it, as well as downloading drivers off the print server. The connection simply drops and Windows cannot repair or restore it. There's no error log that I can find on it, the only thing that restores the connection is rebooting the machine. This is currently reproducable on 45 machines I have spread across 4 different states, making those data transfers and printer setups impossible, at the moment. Each computer got a BIOS update before leaving here.  System: Lenovo ThinkCentre M900Model Number: 10FH-000KUSBIOS version: 1.7OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 Any help or insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I had an old [but reliable] ThinkCentre M58p lying around and I recently thought of upgrading it [for a media center with a some gaming capabilties] from, some more, aging [but working] parts I have. So:1. I've replaced the Intel dual E8400 3Ghz with a quad Q9650 3Ghz [I have a 95W HSF] - Works perfectly2. Replaced the stock PSU with a 620Watts, SeaSonic - Works flawlessly3. Installed windows 10 and all the devices4. Finally, installed a EVGA GTX 770 2Gb into the PCI-E slot - This is the weird issue part Now, for the PCI-E card to get recognized during the boot, I had to switch the main output form IGD [Integrated Graphics Device] to PEG [PCI Express Graphics], and it works! The system boots up from the PCI-E slot, and with the drivers installed, everything works and looks great. Easy, or so it seems... As soon as I restart the PC there's no signal, from the PCI-E slot anymore, and in order to boot again from the PCI-E card, I have to:- pull the card out- boot the machine from the onboard VGA [no need to change the BIOS settings though]- shut down- plug the PCI-E card back in- turn it on Then it works again. Games run great, the PC is cool and quiet. Until I power it off... Each time, I have to repeat the process in order to get a signal from the PCI-E slot... Has anyone happened to come across this kind of issue and knows the cause for this? BTW, I've tried a different card [GTX 570] and the results were the same. I started having issues yesterday, the day after I installed teamviewer a program that is on my iPad also to remotely control the laptop. At first the screen started freezing when I was in the middle of a Java game. So I restarted the laptop only to have it freeze at the main screen (after login).

The screen would freeze the display would change to a very low resolution (I think). So I kept restarting it only to repeat. Until eventually once past the windows logo the screen would turn black and blank. Sometimes the display would turn on black and blank and other times it would do that after the logo.

A few times I managed to get it to go into safe mode and I restored to a few days ago but it made no difference, I also tried many other things like changing some settings but nothing worked.

So after like 2 or 3 hours I Rolled back and disabled "nvidia quadro nvs 135m" (since I read it might be causing the issue and I should uninstall it which I couldn't), once I disabled it I restarted the computer and made it to the main screen without issues, and I could even load my game. I enabled it again And restarted the computer only to have the same issues so I disabled it again after finally getting into safe mode.

I don't know if it works fine now, I left it on at most for 5-10 minutes without any issues and I never actually logged into the game to see if it works.

I figured out that in my display settings instead of showing my main monitor it only sho... Read more

I'm trying to find out if I can get a digital surround sound output from my M93z. As far as I can tell there is only one digital audio output native on this PC - the DisplayPort audio connection.  This shows up as Intel HD Audio in the driver list.  I am running Windows 10 x64 and have updated all of the drivers and utilites from Lenovo using their tools. I have had my DisplayPort connected to my TV through the Lenovo supplied DisplayPort to HDMI dongle.  I recently purchased an HDMI audio extractor, one with a switch where you can have it request the PC to provide it with 5.1 audio output.  Even with the TV disconnected from the audio extractor the PC sees the audio extractor device, so this should eliminate the TV from the setup. I know that the PC will only output the audio format that it has to play from a particular program.  However, when I go to Playback Devices and check the properties of that audio connection it states that the maximum supported channels is 2.  I would expect that if everything is being detected correctly that it would state 6 or 5.1 or something like that. (Yes, I realize there are other options to try and get this to work.  Before anyone suggests to purchase a USB sound card please try to answer my question below or help solve my problem.  Changing to a USB sound card is not what I'm asking about here.) So my question becomes: Does the Intel HD Audio device that is built into the M93z... We got in office new AIO ThinCenre M93Z. When turning on the PC, there is no noise at all; however after working 2 hours, the noise of fan drives everybody in room crazy. It not so loud, however it sounds like wind around the blocks in autumn and the noise is not at same frequence but always going up and down, depending on speed of fan.We already checked internet for ours, nothing helped. The CPU temperature is about 40 degree celcius. The tool fanspeed cannot detect the fan, in bios we already put to "acoustic" (sounds like a joke for this setting). We would be so happy if anybody could help! For Thinkpads, there are special tools for fan control; however there seems to be nothing for Thinkcenter AIO PCs. If it would be a private PC - no problem to open the case, put better fan inside; however it is new brand new PC from company and we cannot do hardware modifications.

Running Win10 Pro 1709, the FEKT9DA update for the M93z slowed my system way down.I reverted the BIOS, things sped up again...I applied Microsoft's microcode update from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4090007/intel-microcode-updatesand I didn't lose speed (at least in my usage) and I am now fully protected.Just an FYI for anyone who has these machines.

Thanks.

Working with an M93Z (model 10AF), currently on Win7. Started the Win10 upgrade but the installer said Intel HD Graphics 4600 won't work. Yet I see Win10 drivers for that card on both the Intel and Lenovo sites. Why is it throwing this warning?  Thanks, Mark
