Elitepad 900 G1 Will Not Boot on Battery

Q: Elitepad 900 G1 Will Not Boot on Battery

We have a group of Elitepad 900 G1s that will not boot on battery. The BIOS has been updated to the latest available as of 2/17/2017. They will boot and run normally when the AC adaptor is attached, but as soon as you unplus the adaptor they shut down. They will not boot at all without the AC adaptor, not even to the HP startup splash screen. I installed the HP Diagnostic tools on one while it was on the adaptor and ran the battery check utility and it said the batteries were good, but needed calibration. When I try to calibrate them, I get the message that your device does not support automatic calibration. I also ran the powercfg.exe /BATTERYREPORT command and it said the batteries were good. How can I get the devices to actually boot when on battery only?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Elitepad will boot on the AC adapter but as soon as I remove it the device shuts down. I thought it might be a battery problem but have ran some tests and even purchased an additional battery jacket and it still wont stay powered up when I remove the PSU.  Both batteries are showing 100% charged. Thank you in advance for your help or ideas.

Hi!I've got an Elitepad 900 from My mothers job because no one used it. When i plugged in the charger it worked but When i took the charger out it turned into black.it says that the battery # 2 is "not present" and the tablet only works when the charger is plugged in. What has happened? Is there anything i can do?Hope someone have an answer!

A:elitepad 900 battery "not present"

I was puzzled by that 2nd battery not present. Seems (at least with the 1000 model, where its '2nd battery not available for use) the 2nd battery is in the extention pack. Seems a rather bizzare thing foe HP to program in. Like my car permanantly telling me I've not got full power because I didn't by the tubocharge.  HP should ignore the optional 2nd battery if it's no connexted, or if they must, simply say 'No extention pack connected'

Hi, I'm trying to get Win 8.1 Enterprise x86 installed on an Elitepad 900.Installation itself is ok, but after installing all drivers, I've got 2 devices with issues in the device manager. These are:- Broadcom GNSS 47511 Geolocation Sensor- HID Sensor Collection Error in device manager states: "This device cannot start (Code 10) / Operation Failed / The requested operation was unsuccessful" Both devices seem to be installed correctly (drivers installed and up to date). I've tried rebooting/reinstalling/removing/reinstalling driver/tried a different tablet/... Am I doing something wrong or overlooking something here? Thanks, Steven

Hi, I was hoping somebody could advise on this Mobile Broadband issue that I have encountered when using SIMs provided by EIR in the HP Elitepad 1000 (and possibly the Elitepad 900 also, but I have not checked this). So the problem is that when the EIR data SIM is inserted into an EPAD with no pre-existing APN set, one has to set an APN manually in order to access the internet. Conversely, if one inserts a SIM from any other provider that we have tried (Vodafone, 3 etc) into a device with no pre-existing APN set, the device automatically detects and sets a default public APN for the inserted SIM, no user intervention required.  Note that if one manually sets a relevant public APN for the EIR SIM on the device everything is fine, works okay, retains the APN between reboots etc. However, a problem arises in that another process that we use clears the Mobile Broadband APN when exiting for various reasons. So this is why we need the APN to be automatically detected and set for an EIR SIM when it is installed. Just like happens for Vodafone, 3 and the other SIMs etc So I took this to be an issue with the SIM and went to EIR with the issue. Below is their response: "I have just checked with our Tier two team and they have come back that the issue is not with the sims it is with the HP devise. The tablet is not configured to hold Eir APN settings but may be for Vodafone, O2 etc. ... the "Carrier bundle" on the HP tablets needs t... Read more

Hi,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. You can follow the steps below:
Drain the residual power of your computer and recaliberate the battery by following the steps below:

Power off your computer.
Remove all the external peripherals  (printers, scanners or any other USB device) connected to your computer.
Please remove the AC adapter and battery of your computer.
Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain the residual power.
Release the power button
Keep the battery out for atleast 2 - 3 hours.
Then insert the battery and charge it overnight with the system powered off.
Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.
Then power on the computer and see if it works.

If the issue still persists, you can update the BIOS of the computer.
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

Click on the below link: http://dell.to/Th8z4k
Click on “Download File”.
Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
Click on “Download Now”.
Save the BIOS on your desktop.
Once the BIOS is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

 Please reply with the findings.

After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

I have an older HP Omnibook 6000 upgraded to 512 of memory running XP with service pack 3, using an airlink card for wireless and Trend for security.

I tried to clean up some disk space and must have deleted something the OS needs. Here is what happens:.

(1) Plugged in, everything is perfect.

(2) When I unplug and try to go to battery, the screen/mouse/keyboard interface freezes. My airlink card stays green (active) and I can still hear some whirring sounds. The hard drive access light goes off.

(3) On battery, the system boots and runs fine in SAFE mode.

(4) When I try a normal boot unplugged, here is how far I get:
<F2> ... screen comes up -- Windows XP logo and blue "activity bar" come up, hard drive access light is working, airlink card green light comes on -- Black screen, which is usual just before the login window, but instead of login window the machine acts as in (2) above.

A:Won't Boot on Battery

Go into safe mode and go into msconfig and open the start up tab. What do you have in there? I would bet a lot of apps initializing on boot up. Keep only the apps you need like antivirus, firewall if there is one and any app you feel you need, but you only really need the above mentioned.

I recently got this computer from a friend so I have no idea how long this has been going on. Probably why he got rid of it. I will plug in the power cord and try to boot with the battery in and nothing will happen. If I reach under the laptop and remove the battery and then try to boot up it comes on like normal. I can then put the battery back in but it makes no difference after that. The battery is completely dead. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with a bad battery or what. The computer is a Dell Latitude D630. If I knew that putting a good new battery in it would fix it I would without hesitation I just need to know if that is the problem or is it another glitch. If anyone knows the answer I would appreciate if they would pass it on. Thanks

Hello all,
I'm having an odd problem with a Tecra A6 I picked up recently to refurb in that it will not boot with a battery only: It boots only when the AC/Mains is also connected, however it will finish booting on battery alone (and runs fine) with the AC cord removed soon after pressing the power button. It's just on battery alone that I get no response from pressing the power on button (so the mains has to be attached at that very first stage or I get nothing at all).

Now I'm wondering if maybe its the voltage of the battery? It seems there are 2 options for this model, one at 10.8v and the other at 11.1v. With Windows loaded and Hardware Monitor running it reports the battery is at 0% wear level and charges up fully (so I do not think the battery is faulty), however it states the battery is running at *11.1v,* but the battery installed is in fact the *10.8v* model. Could that be preventing power on with battery only?

Further info on the model I have:
Tecra A6 PTA60E-0EJ013EN
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz
2 Gb Ram.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one. Main thing I'd like to know is if I do need an 11.1v battery to run this model properly (and get it to power on) on battery alone. If the voltage makes no difference then I guess it must be an odd motherboard issue and I need not bother buying a new battery.

A:Tecra A6 does not boot with Battery only

Update on this one:

It appears the battery is likely faulty: I didn't leave it to run on battery only for long for initial tests so I thought I'd run it down, recharge, then see if that helps. I turned off all the power save settings then left it without the AC attached, however, in spite of reporting a full charge before the AC was removed ,the laptop switched itself off after only 5 minutes or so. On reboot (with AC attached again) the battery is reported as flat!

I have it on charge right now but the battery is *not* getting warm (it did the first time I installed it) so I figure either the battery or the mainboard is reporting the charge level wrong (this is a used battery btw, though it is a genuine Toshiba model, not a dodgy oem import).

Will have to buy another battery and see if the same thing happens (I'll know then if it's the motherboard), but in the meantime if anyone can let me know if the voltage does matter I would appreciate it.

Here's a strange one:

On my Thinkpad R31, if it is plugged into an outlet, XP hangs on the splash screen, it even hangs on all safe modes. If I unplug it and let it boot off the battery, it boots perfectly fine. Once it's booted, I can run it off the adapter without a problem. The adapter charges the battery fine, and the battery holds a charge for a little over three hours of light use (web browsing, word processing).

Any ideas as to why it does this? I've tested it several times and it always boots without a flaw off the battery, but never off the adapter. I don't even know what to begin with here its so strange.

Thanks,

Joe

BTW, it stops at mup.sys when booting in safe mode.

Hi,

I replaced my laptop battery and once I installed the battery pack with a non-Toshiba compatible battery my laptop won't boot from the battery alone (Tecra S10-114) After the boot was done by AC adaptor (without fitting the battery), I installed it and the OS (WIN7 Professional) recognize and charge the battery regularly.

I can unplug the AC and the laptop working very well until there is enough battery power. Battery specs are almost similar than original (10.8V 5100mAh - PA3588U 1BRS) - 10.8V 5200mAh replacement for Toshiba battery PA3588U-1BRS, PA3356U, etc.

Can you help me to understand why there is just this boot issue and the rest working OK?
Do you have any solution?

Thanks

Maybe you should use a Toshiba original battery.
Get in contact with Toshiba ASP in your country who could send you a right and original part which would be compatible with the notebook.

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged.  Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.

Hi guys. I have a T470 and after the latest Windows update I encountered a battery naming issue. Before the update batteries had proper order and were named accordingly: battery 1, battery 2, no surprises here. But after the update I noticed the order has changed to battery 0, battery 1 (attached pic below) Yeah yeah, I understand arrays start at zero but what is that? I was just wondering is it just me or you guys have the same situation going on with your batteries? Is there a way to change the order back to "normal"? .

Hi,
recently I've bought a new battery for my Tecra (the original one was able to power the laptop for less than 10 minutes).
When I put the new battery (which is fully charged) into my laptop and try to power up, the system hangs with black screen
and blinking text cursor '_' in the top left corner, before the windows xp starts.
It happens with or without AC/DC adaptor connected.
If I replace the new battery with the old one, or remove it and boot on AC/DC power, the system boots properly.
If I boot on AC power, and insert the new battery and disconnect AC power I can work until the next boot - so it seems that
the new battery is OK.
the new battery is not genuine toshiba but WhiteEnergy. I waS using this brand with my previous sattelite and was working ok.
Do you have anny suggestions or settings to change ?
The symptoms are quite weired for me.

For me too. Settings to change? I really don?t know what kind of settings can make the whole thing better.
When you start your notebook on battery power supply only, can you enter BIOS settings?
Have you tried to set it to ?default settings? and check if anything will change?

Hi, Got an issue with a ProBook 470 G3 not booting properly. The battery is charged but the Probook won't boot with the battery in the laptop: it only boots without the battery but with the powercable.  Once booted I can plug the battery in and remove the powercable and it keeps running. But as soon as I want to boot again I need to remove the battery and put the cable back in. It's a brand new laptop and the battery has been replaced by the dealer once already but the issue remains.

Hello,

Since the last few weeks, my computer was not able to start properly. When i press the start button, my hp laptop just gets stuck at the white HP logo screen. If i get lucky it gets pass the logo in around 15min then start up normally.
It seems that there is something wrong with the power. When i start my laptop with only the battery, it seems that this situation occurs more often and when i plug in the AC adapter (and wait for a few minutes) it starts up normally. HOWEVER, today, it did not work. I restarted my computer around 5 times with ONLY the AC adapter and finally got through the process.

It seems that the hard drive is not working during the startup. When i had the option to use startup repair or boot windows normally, it took around 20 seconds for the computer to respond when i chose it.

I Really want to solve this problem, i want to bring my laptop out of my home without my AC adapter.

Thank you

A:Long time boot because of battery?

I've seen something similar when the dvd drive is funky. Pop it out and give it another try.

If that doesn't help, enlist the help of a friend's computer and download the offline Seatools iso. Burn it to cd and boot up with it on your laptop and do all the tests that are not destructive.

I'm suddenly experiencing this problem. I'm unable to boot my laptop from my battery. But if I connect the power chord, I'm able to start it. There is no problem with restart, hibernate and other options on battery though. I've also installed batterycare to check the battery condition. It shows no problem with battery condition. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

A:Unable to boot from battery power

Do you have access to a digital multimeter my friend as it will show you if the thing is ok on voltage or not .

Having said that it might e holding a voltage but no current capabilities - how old is it? as Lithium batteries degrade from the day they are manufactured mate. On average that can be around three years. I personally would not rely on the battery health readout an actual check is best.

By he way depending on the make and contact set up check out too if there is any debris down inside those slots either in the battery (usual) or the machine.

I was working on an old computer for my son today. I forgot my password so I removed the battery to reset everything. When I replaced it the screen stays black. Everything appears to be operating on the inside of the case but my keyboard will not light up and my monitor stays in standby mode. Prior to removing the battery the computer ran fine.

A:failed boot after removing battery

That indicates that the computer is not even reaching the POST stage of booting from the BIOS.

What else might you have disturbed while removing the CMOS battery?
Is there a tamper switch on the case that has been triggered? (a "feature" of a few older PCs)?

Is the battery reinstalled in the right manner?

I recently bought a battery for my Inspiron 17r se 7720 laptop running windows 10. When I boot it up, it gives a warning saying this battery isn't recommended. How can I disable that warning?

A:How to disable battery warning on boot up?

There are only two ways:
Replace the battery with one that is compatible, or
Remove the battery entirely.

Hi, I have a Hp pavilion dv6700 series (dv6840el) and it just won't boot without the battery attached. If i plug the AC adapter, i get some computer activity (fan, dvd drive noise and HD drive spins) for about 5 seconds and then shuts down. Once i plug the battery (which is dying, needing a replacement), the laptop boots fine. So, my question is: is this a motherboard or an AC adapter issue? The AC adapter seems ok, though. But if i'm considering to buy a spare battery, i must make sure that i don't need a new AC adapter as well.  Thanks in advance.
