Q: HD4850 for $109.99 before shipping

Its openbox through newegg.com. I purchased an 8600GT a while back openbox from newegg.com and its still working flawlessly today. There's also a 9600GT for $78.75 (before shipping). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121229R

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I see this

I wanted one that was not a reference card but only by means of a better fan,
however this card is an entire inch shorter than the reference hd4850 - why?

is there any difference between the regular hd4850s and this one?

A:Is this hd4850 different?

Probably due to the dual-slot cooler design and the fact that Sapphire claims to have "fine-tuned" the PCB design. It would probably run cooler than other HD 4850s, but that's about it.

I wouldn't bother about the fan on the card. All the cards come with a default fan speed that is very low. Google the fix to crank it up and it will run pretty cool.

But would a 1GB 4850 be better than a 512MB GTS250 at the same price? Or would the 1GB GTS 250 be similar or better than the 4850?

In my opinion HD4850 is better.but why is G92 8800GTS 512 more expensive than HD4850?
What's the G92 8800GTS's advantage?

A:G92 8800GTS 512 or HD4850?

HD 4850 is better and performs on par with a 9800 GTX the only reason that the 8800GTS 512mb is more expensive is because there are less of them and they are more expensive to make than the 4850's

When I first set up my rig over a year ago, I couldn't install vista, I'd get BSoD's during the installation. I gave up and used xp for the last year. But then I decided to try win7. That was a nightmare which ended up with me RMA'ing my mobo. Gigabyte said they installed and ran an OS without any problems. Didn't say which, I'm guessing xp.

When I got the mobo back, I tried installing Vista again and got it, so perhaps Gigabyte had actually made some changes. But, alas, it's unusable. No matter which graphics drivers I try I keep getting BSoD's. I'm not even sure it's my ATI driver. I've used the drivers from Gigabyte, cataylst 9.12, 9.11, 9.8 and nothing does the trick. I'm currently using the 9.12 drivers.

Could someone please check out this minidump for me. I have xp x86 on my backup laptop and can't analyze it. Thanks in advance.

I'm not a gamer, but I do like my multiple screens.

At the moment I have a Palit HD4850 'Sonic' Radeon, as per the attachment. It's factory overclocked to 685Mhz.

It lacks HDMI, but has twin DVI-D ports.

I've recently noticed that I can lay hands on a Sapphire HD6450 with the same ports, plus HDMI.

Clock speed is slightly lower at 625Mhz as it's a passively cooled card. It has 1Gb DDR3, which is double what I have right now. It supports Direct-X 11 and is W7 certified (the Palit only supports DX10 and was built for Vista, but runs well under W7 anyway).

I don't want to significantly lose performance but also don't want to spend a fortune - and re-emphasise that I am not gaming but will doubtless use it for video quite a bit.

Both cards support multiple displays at 2560 x 1600 pixels (my monitors are not capable of going that high anyway as they're 23" E-IPS Dells).

Bear in mind I'm on a LGA775 platform and don't believe it's worth spending lots and lots as I doubt I will upgrade the mainboard for some time.

The question is, would this be a productive upgrade?

Any opinions welcome

A:HD4850 > HD6450 > Worth it?

A 6450 would be a major downgrade from a 4850. (The 4850 was a high-end card of its generation. The 6450 is low-end for the 6xxx series, although not the lowest.)

I doubt that the DX11 support of the 6450 is significant for most applications. The most significant plus of it would be lower power consumption, and lower heat generation.

Good afternoon,

I bought an Apollo AP-HD4850 which comes with twin DVI ports and an HDMI port in the hopes of having my two monitors and my projector running as three separate displays. But, when I go into 'Screen Resolution' in W7 and try to set things up, it won't let me extend onto all three. To make matters worse, the only option it gives me, "Duplicate desktop on (x) and (y)", won't work - I get a popup "Unable to save display changes" no matter what combination I try.

Can anyone offer any assistance?

A:Three monitors on the Apollo AP-HD4850

The second DVI port and the HDMI port probably both share the output, meaning only 2 devices can be working at any given time.

This is only a guess of mine, and not a fact although I have read something similar about how ATI cards work.

You should try messing around with the Catalyst Control Center to see if you could figure somethin out with that.

Now, you might think that I would choose the HD4850 right off the bat because it eats the 9800 (basically 8800) in performance.

But I'm afraid of moving to ATI... I owned 1 ATI card before this, and it kept crashing, even after I replaced it (this was on my old comp), then... my uncle's ATI 9800 also crashed a lot.. so I don't know what to tell you guys.

This is what im afraid of, maybe someone can clear my concerns:

1. Heard that IDLE temps are absolutely awful, worse than 60C on idle like most of the 8800s, I don't want the card to melt while im playing...
2. Heard that on load the card reaches 80C... -my 8800GTS 320 right now doesn't reach that.
3. Lifetime - with those temps I don't think this card will last 1-2 years.
4. Some people say that ATI drivers are inferior to Nvidia's drivers in terms of performance and especially stability --?

thanks in advance

will my power supply hold this?

A:Nvidia 9800GT or ATI HD4850? Upgrading

The HD 4850 is the superior choice. It only runs hot because the default fan speed is low. Crank that up a bit and it runs cool. And FYI, 89-90C is the normal operating temp for the RV700 GPU.
As far as drivers are concerned, ATI's drivers are fantastic and their Vista drivers worked perfectly from the start (and still do), unlike NVIDIA's BSOD-causing ones. Your PSU's sufficient too, so no problem there. You're good to go.

So I built a new computer a few days ago, athlon x2 6000, 2 gigs corsair xms2 ram and ofcourse the powercolor HD4850 512mb.
The first thing I did when I got the card back home and started putting everything together was to take the heatsink off, clean all the grease that was already on there off (with isopropyl alcohol) and apply some Arctic Silver 5, which I did properly and carefully.
Put the computer together, everything worked fine except for a few wierd things i noticed on the screen at some point when I started the computer up, blue squares over the screen. This went away and I thought nothing more of it.
A few days later I started my computer and there was just crap all over the screen; lines running down.. the bios text would be replaced by pink blocks, i would let the computer start up and the screen would keep going black then coming back with a different set of graphical anomolies.. little blocks, etc. I just assumed at this point that the card was ****ed, however, a few restarts later, everything went back to normal (the computer started off the same, with the pink blocks but then the screen went black and came back fine). I played games and it was fine, i ran 3dmark06 and got good results.. so the card is obvoiusly fine. It is definately the card too, because i tested it in my brothers computer and same thing happened.
Then upon restarting the computer it went back to the way it was before, and i would have to restart it/turn it on /off many times before ... Read more

I figure I might as well post it in this forum to inform those who have my card (ASUS EAH4850 512MB). Currently after posting this topic in another forum, there seems to be no solution. Here is my conclusions from the situation.
Sleep mode with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit does not work with multidisplays, using the radeon HD4850 running Catalyst 8.7 or Catalyst 8.8, when returning from sleep mode. It works only on a single display and will not work even when the secondary display is disabled. Monitors will display a blank screen and the power lights will flash indicating they are in standby even after the system has been restored from sleep mode. The secondary monitor must be physically detached from the graphics card (remove the DVI, AGP, or S-Video cable) for the system to return from sleep mode.

If anyone has a different conclusion be my guest. I'm hoping for answers.

A:Radeon HD4850 Multidisplays and Sleep mode

Update. After spending a day at work with this card, it seems sleep mode does in fact work, but only if given 5 to 10 minutes after it initially goes into sleep mode. ATI bug? Vista bug? Who knows.

First off, it's a new build

E8400 (which only runs at 2.00ghz for some reason, oh well I'll deal with that later)
Corsair 750W

Anyway, for the initial boot, the boot sequence would only display off the DVI port closer to the motherboard, okay, that's fine.

After installing windows Vista 64 bit, it only would display everything post boot (Windows splash and whatnot) on the other port. I can't get them to display on the same port...

Also another issue, I can't seem to get the right drivers, or something else is wrong, but my HD4850 won't change resolutions (it did with no ati drivers, up to 1400x1050) but now it stays at 800x600 and all other resolutions yield nothing.

So I recently updated my motherboard and CPU (I'm now running an Intel Core2Duo). It boots up fine running Windows XP Home SP3. The problem is I have a PowerCooler HD4850 graphics card that I want to install (currently just running onboard video) but it's not working.
I plugged in the card and then when I try to boot I get no display on the monitor, just a flashing green light. However, windows is booting because I can hear the startup jingle, I just can't see anything. I tried unplugging the card and then everything works fine, so I uninstalled the INTEL graphics drivers from "add or remove programs". Then I tried to reinstall the card and boot up but it does the same thing, no display on the monitor.
I've heard power supply issues can cause graphics card troubles, but my PSU is only about a year old. I have installed a Radeon HD 4850 in my Dell Inspiron 560, which has one pci-e slot.

When booting windows 7, the splash screen with the colored windows logo freezes after a few seconds.

I think the problem can be described as "The display adapter that is installed in your computer is not properly processing the video-mode switching that occurs when the Windows logo screen is displayed" (that is from a windows help article for windows 98).

I have searched for solutions; so far, I have disabled the onboard graphics and unistalled the drived for the onboard graphics. I have also tried to boot in safe mode abs install the driver, but the card is not recognized by device manager and the driver installation produces an error "Failed to load the detection driver".

When I take out the 4850, the computer boots fine

Also, I am using a Corsair 550w power supply, 8gb of ram, 2.93 intel core 2 duo processor.

A:New radeon hd4850 - windows 7 splash screen freezes

I have this card and it is great. A couple of basic questions:

Did you plug the power into the card?
Did you check the bios after you installed the card?

The only other thing I would check is to be sure that the card is seated properly.

Let me start off by saying that this is mostly a guess right now. I've had my computer suddenly shut down while playing game like Starcraft 2 and Mirror's Edge with settings on maximum (my computer and graphic card can support it). I've looked at the event logs for system or application, and the 3 times I had a sudden shut down seems to be due to CCC.exe (ATI's Catalyst Control Center). My video card is currently idling at 80 celsius, my CPU was at about 60-65 Celsius

I opened my computer earlier, cleaned up all the fans and plugged the 200m top case fan. The CPU temp dropped to 40 celsius average (which is awesome). Even after cleaning the fan, the video card stayed on 80 celsius idle (but the fan speed dropped from 26% to 23% to keep that temperature). So it seems like the software wants to keep it around the temperature.

So I am left with several options:
1) Via the Catalyst Control Center, I can manually set a fan speed (for instance, putting it at 33% drops it to idle at 60 celsius). The thing I never noticed is if my fan speed increased during gameplay, of it temperature rose. Also, to activate the manual fan, I have to activate the overclock utility, which is acting... weird.

It has 2 panels. One shows the GPU frequency and memory frequency that you want to set. The second panel shows what are the current GPU frequency and memory frequency. When I launch the application, it says my current GPU frequency is 750 MHZ, then it drops to 500 M... Read more

I am building a new Haswell PC here on the right coast of the US, and need to ship it to the owner on the left coast - built, tested, and loaded.

Has anyone done this and have any tips to try and get it to it's destination in working condition?

The owner is fairly mechanically inclined, but has never worked inside a PC before, so I am wary of what I can ask her to do.
My main concern is we are considering a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO, and I am concerned about the height of this thing creating enough leverage to tear the socket out if there was a jolt. I've considered removing it and then trying to walk her through installing it at her end but I'm not sure this is the best plan.
Or we could just stick with the stock heatsink and fan and not deal with the EVO.

Any experiences and tips would be appreciated!

Well if it was me I would get bunch of static free bubble wrap and stuff the inside of case so things don't move then wrap outside of case put in box then get bigger box and put more wrap between the two boxes. That should protect everything then make sure you put insurance on it for a value twice the amount of the package. Forgot to say to mark the box this side up so motherboard is on bottom of box.

I've had good luck with HP computers, and recently ordered a new EliteDesk. The problem is, I paid a premium for next-day delivery. The unit was shipped from Texas (to Northern California) on May 25th. It is now May 31st, and I don't have it yet. FedEx dropped the ball and failed to deliver it today, and they say I'll have it tomorrow -- but in the course of my discussion with them, they said it was shipped GROUND. Because it was shipped ground, I am certainly entitled to a refund on the premium shipping charge that was billed to my credit card. But here's the real problem: As far as I can tell, there is NO page on the HP website that provides a phone number I can use to call and complain about this. I have looked and looked and looked. I would love it if some kind person would provide a customer support phone number so I can call and explain the problem to them. Or even a URL of the web page that has a phone number. I do quite understand that large corporations don't want to hear from customers after they have made a sale ... but in this case, if I don't get a commitment from HP to rescind the charge for next-day shipping, I'll have to have my Visa cancel the entire payment for the computer, and then where will we be? It will be a headache for everybody. So how about a phone number, eh?

Hi,   I am not sure if I should have posted this in any existing appropriate thread. I have ordered a P50 (config includes 2 X 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSDs, 1 X 1TB HD). I placed the order on 12th April and was informed there could be 3-4 weeks of delay (because of PCIe SSDs availability) with estimated shipping date 12th May. In between (a week back or so), I called and I was told that estimated shipping date is 11th Of May and there is no change or surprise in the shipping date. When I didn't get any shipping notification yesterday or today, I called back and the rep was not sure about the status of my order and hence she promised to update me by end of today. Just now, I got her email saying the shipping is delayed further caused by "hard drive". I am not sure if this further delay is due to hard drive of 1TB PCIe NVMe SSDs. Do any of you, who may have ordered P50 with 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD(s), got P50 delivered? How long it took? If its really about the hard drive, I may even consider dropping this from the config (should have done at the first place).

Hello everyone. I have searched far and wide on the internet for a solution to this problem, but have yet to find anything. I know about the problems at Digital River with the downloadable student editions. I am more concerned with the Discs I paid $13 extra to have shipped to me.

I was supposed to receive a confirmation e-mail when they shipped. That was exactly two weeks ago, which to me means they still have not shipped. I have tried contacting Digital River (twice) by their customer support form, but have not had any luck with that.

I'm frustrated beyond belief and have no idea what to do. I guess I could just download the .ISO, but the problem with that is then I still lose $13.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do, other than wait some more and eventually give up?

@Jm567? Typical time to build a "CTO"  Custom-to-Order system is two weeks. Even the "two week" time frame is dependent on the type of system being built.  For example, if the parts for your particular system are not available at the time your order is processed, there may be a delay. Although we at the Community forum cannot help you with the details on your order, you can certainly contact HP if you have concerns. Open the email titled "Your HP Order H### has been received" (replace the ### with your order number). Scroll to the bottom > look for and click "My Order Status". If you do not have the email described, or if your email lacks the contact link, you can contact HP through one of the links that are available in your email (there should be at least one). When you see a Post that helps you,Inspires you, provides fresh insight,Or teaches you something new,Click the "Thumbs Up" on that Post. Click my Answer Accept as Solution to help others find Answers.

Couldn't decide where a question like this should go. I have to ship my laptop back to HP for a warranty covered repair. Can anyone tell me if UPS or USPS would be best for this? I am thinking about safety as well as cost. Safety first.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I bought an Xbox on Ebay and the shipping wasnt listed but instead it had the Ebay calculate shipping for the product. The Calculated shipping was only 30$ but the seller sent me an inovice with 68$ for shipping. Can the seller charge such a price on shipping when the calculated price was so much lower? Im just wondering before I pay for the item.

A:Ebay Shipping

As we dont know which method you selected, or what your zip code is its hard to confirm if you are correct.

But Ebay say "Shipping services and rates available for shipping to United States.
All prices include any packaging and handling fees charged by the seller.", so if you selected correctly, the answer is no, ask for an explanation.

Can I please get some help with my order 4293378647 not shipping. I don't understand it. It was supposed to ship the same day but there has been ZERO movement. Customer service offered no assistance when I called. They simply said they'd reach out to someone and email me with the information which I suspect is just some runaround tactic they use when they don't want to work. I want REAL help. This is absurd. I ordered this laptop on August 7th and it was supposed to ship the same day. Instead it hasn't even moved. If I knew this was going to happen I would've bought it on ebay or amazon.

Has anyone received a shipping confirmation on this new machine and if so will you please share order date, ship date, model. I ordered the stock-built computer with FHD display and 16 GB memory on the day of release, June 19, and now my estimated delivery is one month from June 19 despite that they are offering 'same day shipping' for new orders and have been for a few days.  The original estimated ship time was 5-7 days.  Call the sales number and they will sell you that computer today for 'same day shipping' but when I asked the rep to double-check she said oh, no, sorry, there are no computers in stock, that they were probably 'oversold' or 'waiting for parts'. Thank you kindly for helping bring some clarity to this situation.

I ordered the yoga 920 on the 16th. My order is still being processed and the ship date was 10/25 all week. Now it says 10/30.  The website is also now advertising the computer for about 200 dollars cheaper than what I ordered and says shipping is 1-3 days.  Is this his normal form Lenovo? What?s the hold up? I think I should cancel my order and try again.
