Q: HP Pavilion 13-r010dx x2 Detachable PC battery replacement

Hi, I'm having trouble getting my battery working. It will randomly guess the percentage of the battery and the computer will shut-down while it says theres 50% battery life. I try the HP support app incuided on my computer to do a calibration, however the battery fail the test. Yes, I did a check on the battery state; it says the battery is fine but I know that is incorrect. Anyway, I want to replace the battery but there is no infomation on how or were I should take it. Any help doing it or is it impossable?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I purchased my laptop on 11/6/15 from Best Buy. When it is plugged in, it works fine but the battery was not charging. Unfortunately for me, it is now 1 1/2 months out of warranty. I brought it into Best Buy to have the battery replaced and it was sent to their servicing center. I just received a call from them telling me that my issue is Not my battery but with something on the motherboard that controls how the battery charges and the entire board needs to be replaced and it is going to cost me just as much to replace it as I paid for my laptop. This is absolutely obsurd!! The laptop is only 13 months old and has never been mishandled. When making the decision to buy a new laptop, I chose HP because I had such good luck with my old one that was 10 years old. Has HP quality gone downhill? And on top of it all, when I went to submit a question about this to HP support, it comes up with my laptop being out of warranty since August 2016 which less than a 1 year warranty. Now Im left with the decision to repair my 13 month old laptop and still have no protection if something else breaks or buy a new one with protection for the same price.

I am looking at options to replace a battery in an HP Pavilion dm-1xxx series laptop, specically dm4-1050ea and dm4-1164nr and dm4-1150ea, but  I am confused over battery compatibility. The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02615687.pdf) gives  9-cell, 93-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593550-001  6-cell, 55-WH (2.55-Ah) Li-ion :  553594-001  6-cell, 62-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593562-001 so any of these 3 are interchangeable between the -1050ea and the -1150ea ? no, it seems not - read on.... but I see that in the manual for the dm4-1164nr (also the M&S Guide for dm4-1140sa and dm4-1150ea, I now learn), also titled The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715),  that while the lower rated batteries have the same p/n, the higher rated on is described as9-cell, 100-WH (3.0-Ah) Li-ion : 636631-001 Are these two 9-cell batteries interchangeable, ot not ?  They must have physically the same form because they both accept the same lower rated batteries and also have the same elec. spec - 10.8V ? If they  not compatible, can I be instructed as to why not ? (eg, they aren't the size, incorrect pin-out, internal resistance too high/low, etc) I see that the maintenance and service manual are split into 10xx and 11xx versions, but question regarding the 9-cell batteries still ... I have just bought this lkaptop and the hardware is nice, but I do not want to run Windows. Simple, I thought, as it's a PC, I'll just install Ubuntu. Well, the boot from USB is UEFI and that is a bit of a pain to set up, and I can't get it to work. The Ubuntu 14 install disk I burnt is an EFI boot CD and it simply fails to boot. Using the F9 option I get aBoot device failed message in white text on a blue screen. When I try to boot through the boot menus I get a missing file at \ubuntu\winboot\. I have just created a Windows recovery disk and that seems to boot fine. It looks like the BIOS/UEFI is set up to only allow Windows to boot. I've bought a USB DVD drive and failed to boot from that, also two memory sticks and a HDD. So, questions, before I put the laptop in the bin: 1. Has anyone else got Linux onto this device and if so what image and procedure did you use to get the install to work? 2 Is there a way to get legacy mode booting set up in the BIOS (The BIOS mentions legacy support in the screens but its not there).  Andrew

A:Linux on HP Pavilion x2 detachable PC 10

It seems that the hp x2 has a 32 bit uefi. So you'll need a 32bit uefi boot loader. Most distros I've seen just ship the 64 bit bootloader. There's a guy at debian who is trying to support this kind of thing - He's working on a netinst image for deb8. The current image he's published so far boots, but I can't get networking to work. Here's his blog (other good stuff there):http://blog.einval.com/debian/CDs Here's the deb image:http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/efi-development/jessie-upload3.Hth /markus

Hi this is my first post. Had this 2 in one for about a week, replacing a 4 year old acer aspire one netbook D270 which had upgraded SSD and over 8 hr battery life. I dropped it and cracked the screen but it was a great little device I used all the time. There is a lot to like with this unit, but a few things are a little fustrating. 1) Lost thunderbird and opera from taskbar for no apparent reason. I pin something I expect it to stay.2) I keep on deleting the HP help from taskbar as it keeps on showing a massive ? on the task bar but no new info, but afrer reboot its back showing help but nothing new. I dont want it.3) Inconsistent when I undock screen, I loose all input on the touch screen? Dock it back all is fine. This cant be right.4) Open some webpages no touch screen?.5)  I Keep on loosing SD card, even during playing music, suddenly stops and no SD. Pop it out and it makes unmounts noise, pop it back in all is fine for a short time like 2 songs then stops again saying file can not be found. Replaced the SD card and same issues. Are these known issues or something with my device. Jas

Hi there @bfeliciano86,  Before I provide troubleshooting documentation, I would like to take a minute to welcome you to the HP Support Community, where you can ask questions, find solutions and get help from others! I will do my absolute best to help you resolve the issue you are having with the black screen on your HP Pavilion x2 Notebook PC.  Note: please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. As silly as it sounds, did you happen to try removing dust from the cooling areas in a notebook?Have you connected the Notebook to an external monitor or TV? If you remove the notebook battery, plug the AC power cable back into the notebook, then turn it on, does it power the Notebook? Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset?Have you tried performing a hard reset?Have you tried to see if you can test for hardware failures? If the computer is on, do you hear the fan running? If so, but the display remains blank, please see Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank. If you require further assistance, I would be more than happy to help! Hello @Yool, Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!  I have read your post on how your notebook computer is not able to power on, even though it is plugged into the AC adapter, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter! If your computer is powering on, but there is no lights illuminating on the device, I recommend following this document on Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank (Windows 8). Should the machine not respond at all when the button is pressed, I alternatively suggest this document: Computer does not start (Windows 8). This should help restore the display to your notebook computer. If the issue persists, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.htmlI hope this helps!Regards

I have an HP Pavilion x2 detachable running Windows 10 64bit. Until recently, I was able to connect  a second monitor through the HDMI port and it was automatically recognized. Since a couple of weeks the second monitor cannot be recognized any more. I even tried to connect my TV set but nothing happened. There is no problem with the cable. Also all drivers seem to be up to date. Any ideas what could I do ? Thanks in advance!

My pavilion is not respoinding properly. 1 month ago, the laptop/tablet locked after a hardware issue and needed a bitlocker key to open it. After some time finding it and a few problems from microsoft, the laptop was in working order as of yesterday. However, the audio was missing (I assume that's why the laptop locked itself?? I'm not a large techy person!). As I could not restore the audio, I decided to do a reset with files still intact. This got to 44% and then came up with a response along the lines of; "Cannot reset due to an issue. Please try again later." This led me back to two options; revert back and load windows 10 or to retry. I retried a few more times with the same error message and two options. I'd decided after that not working, I'd try and revert back and reload windows 10. After this, the only thing my laptop now does is load the HP symbol, move to a black screen and repeat. I've tried hard resets and attempting to diagnose the problem with F2, yet this did not help at all as all 'passed' bar the audio which could not be detected. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Hi. I just bought a HP Pavilion x2 Detachable and already have problems with it. I turned on this morning,it turned on ok. I done all the set up required, got a couple of apps, then left it. 1 hour later when I wanted to watch a film,i couldn't turn it on. It would not turn on. The mouse cursor is there, and if I press and hold for a few seconds the power button,a message saying "Slide to shut down your PC" appears and no matter what I do it won't turn on. I have tried all the "F" buttons,"F11" "F8" "F4 ....all of them basically, but nothing. It's really frustrating, this is my sons gift from Santa, and he can't even enjoy it. please help me.. Should I take it back or what's the best thing to do??Thanks

Does anyone know of an external battery pack that will work with the Spectre x2? I've tried 2 packs and various cables and nothing seems to work. I even wasted my time and bought the HP external battery that the HP support staff promised me would be compatible. Thx

A:Spectre X2 12" detachable external battery via USB-C

Why HP's the odd duckIn the chart above you can see there?s one vendor with a glaring-red problem: HP with its Spectre X2. Keep in mind, I?ve updated the Spectre X2 with the latest UEFI and it still won?t work with third-party chargers. Here?s why. After speaking with HP officials about the issue, it appears the company is just playing it safe. Fearing that a counterfeit or out-of-spec charger could make the touchscreen or audio subsystem flaky, HP has limited the access non-certified chargers have to the device. For now, HP exec Mike Nash told us, only ?overnight? charging, or charging while the device is off, is supported.?Are we being too conservative?? Nash asked. ?I don?t think so.?HP is committed to USB-C?it already has four or five devices that use it for charging. The company just doesn?t believe the spec is ready for interchangeability yet.Lee Atkinson, a distinguished technologist at HP who?s been leading the effort to corral PC makers around USB-C, said the upcoming Power Delivery 3.0 spec should solve many of the outstanding issues, such as how much voltage to supply and how to control which way power flows between two devices. Atkinson said OEMs all agree it has to be done correctly and with group consensus.

Can any one suggest an external battery that can charge the Spectre X2 12" detachable via USB-C?

A:Spectre X2 12" detachable external battery via USB-C

I too would also like to find an external battery pack and/or cable that can charge the x2. Although the Spectre x2 has relatively poor battery life, I was willing to purchase it as it charges via USB-C and I incorrectly assumed any high-power USB charger or external battery pack would charge it. I've tried a number of USB chargers and battery packs with a Belkin USB-A to USB-C charger cable and have had no luck charging the Spectre x2.

This is a brand new machine as my previous machine was replaced by HP for the same reason. I turn the machine on and it immediately goes to BitLocker recovery.I do not want a repeat of last month' s **bleep**-ups, whereby I lost all my data on my previous new machine and was then sent a replacement machine in a process that took over two weeks.I spent two hours on Tuesday with HP post sales support sorting out the Office 365 licence issues caused by the last occurrence of this BitLocker issue. Why is this occurring, how can it be fixed, and who at HP will sort it out?

Hi, Following the failure of the free upgrade process to Windows 10 on my Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns, I have been trying to restore from a USB boot media (16Gb Sandisk USB key) created with the Windows Media Creation Tool (on another machine) I have been unable to get the Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns to boot from any other media at all: I have tried:both DVD media and USB media, made with a variety of tools on both Windows (Windows Media Creation Tool, Rufus, LiLi) and Linux (Brasero, UNetBootIn, dd, Linux Mint USB Image Writer)Creating bootable media with settings for MBR and GPT partitions, for UEFI or regular BIOS.Booting to a variety of Ubuntu variant Live CDs (in order to check it wasn't just a problem with Windows)Secure Boot enabled (when booting Windows media) and Secure Boot disabled (when booting Linux)All variations of Boot Order in the BIOS.As you can see in the image, there is no Legacy Boot option in the BIOS, and I have been unable to get any media to boot at all. Since the failed Win 10 update, the computer is now unusable. Product Number is N3W80EQ#ABEBIOS version is F.04 (I downloaded BIOS version F.05 from the HP website but was unable to get a FreeDOS bootable disk to be recognised) I'm fairly sure there is a problem with the BIOS and UEFI boot. I note that this has been concluded elsewhere also. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Windows/Fresh-install-Win-8-1-Pro-into-Pavilion-X2-10-quot-32GB/td-p/48.... Read more
