Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: Replaced Cracked Screen.....Now won't go to sleep when closed.

Q: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: Replaced Cracked Screen.....Now won't go to sleep when closed.

I cracked my screen and replaced with a new one. Now when I close the lid, it won't go to sleep; rather it goes to tablet mode. I have to press the power button to make it go to sleep. I put back the original screen and it goes to sleep as it should. I've tried two different brand new screens and it will never go to sleep when closed. Lenovo doesn't sell replacement screens so I'm forced to go to ebay or Amazon. I have checked setting to make sure it goes to sleep when the lid closes. The magnets are in the replacements. Hmm, has anyone ever experienced this? Any recommendations what to do? Thank you for your input.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I now have a nasty cracky on the glass of my screen - top right and accross the middle.  The screen is still fully working, and touch screen also still works.  So what are my options... 1) Can I just replace the glass? If so, where do I find this product - No one sells it.2) Do I need to replace the entire screen (LCD and Digitizer) - Again no one sells it. Apparently it's a licensed product and no 3rd party suppliers have access to stock. Can anyone please help, and share any other options I have? Thank you so much in advance.

Hey there, Just had an cracked screen on my Yoga 2 Pro and paid for a replacement. As the screen was cracked, I had to disable the HID-compliant touch screen in my device manager because otherwise I couldn't use the Yoga 2 Pro at all - because of the crack it was like touches like everywhere on the screen at the same time, but I was able to disable it in "device manager". Yesterday, my screen has been changed and everything works fine - except the "touch function"! If I rotate my Yoga 2 Pro nothing happens, too. If I open the device manager, my HID-compliant touch screen is not visibile. If I press "show hidden devices" and select the HID-compliant touch screen (it is shown then), it is listed as "not connectet" - error code 45. But the screen itself is working. If I search for drivers, it says everything is fine. But the HID-compliant touch screen is not connected...?! How in the world I can tell my Yoga 2 Pro that there is a touch function in my new screen?! So, I am a little confused about what to do with it! How I can start my HID-compliant touch screen again? Thanks for every hint!! And excuse me for my bad English!!

I cracked my Stream 11's screen (well, my 3 year old threw a Lego at it!) but the blacklight worked fine and I used an external monitor until the replacement LCD screen arrived. I replaced the screen and switched the laptop on...black!  External monitor still yields a display, so it's not the GPU.  Then when plugging in the OLD screen (cracked but had still lit up), that now fails to turn on!  I was very careful in replacing the screen, yes the connector is snapped properly in place and there is no damage from the install. What's going on?  Not much having shelled out 40 for a replacement LED for now no screens to work at all!

Hi The laptop was working perfectly until i updated the intel HD graphics driver to version 23.20.16.4849 (27/10/17).  As soon as I did this, the machine would not wake from either sleep or hibernate mode when the lid was shut. When I open the lid it will either enter staright into a black screen, and I can hear the fan spinning with lights to the right hand side but no further activity. Sometimes the Lenovo log appears on the screen first and then enters into a blank screen state. I am on Bios Lenovo C6CN34WW 29/10/15 As soon as I press and hold the power button to turn off, and then turn on again the machine loads into windows perfectly, with a visible display.  Any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks

Hi, Sometimes when I close the lid off my Yoga 260 Windows 10 are not going to sleep. The behaviour is really weird because the red light on the lid is blinking like when it's in sleep mode, but I can hear the rotating fan. When I open the lid it's even weirder. Windows are not locked and I am not prompt for a password. The whole system is very laggy. The mouse is moving in jumps and there is not any response to keyboard or screen touch. After few seconds/minutes the system is suddenly OK like nothing happend. This is not happening all the time and I was not able to see any pattern when this happens. What should I do to get rid of this? Thx for help.

Hi!I have a bizzare issue with my Gen 1 X1 Yoga. The machine will not sleep when the lid is closed. I know this is not a software issue as holding a magnet above the sensor (in between the caps lock and shift key on the left keyboard bezel) sleeps the machine. Does anyone know where / what the magnet is thats meant to interact with this sensor? I assume it is meant to be positioned somewhere in the Screen bezel? if so does anyone know if this is something that could potentially be checked / serviced by a user or will i be bringing my machine to a repair centre.Cheers

New Yoga 700 11. Screen flickers continuously after returning from sleep. Stops after a reboot. Problem started right after unboxing and remains after running Windows Update. Windows now at version 1511. Intel HD Graphics driver now at 20.19.15.4300. Searching for Intel HD Graphics driver updates from Device Manager doesn't detect anything -- though I see the Intel site has a 15.40.14.4352 version that claims to address screen flicker. Automated brightness management is off. The laptop is plugged in, so battery power saving shouldn't be a factor. Question for the community: can I install the 4352 driver from the Intel site? Or do I have to wait for Lenovo to add special OEM features to the stock Intel driver?

When the laptop is closed, pressure on the laptop will cause it to wake from sleep. There is no option in the BIOS or device manager to disable the wake from sleep option for the keyboard. Here is someone with a similar issue with the ISK1. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-keyboard-wakes-laptop-from-sleep/...

My Yoga 920 seems to ranomly wake from sleep when the lid is closed. I'd had several occasions when travelling to find my latop completely dead when I needed it - or finding it burning up in the confines of my bag. A few times, I've been alerted to problem when I happen to hear my laptop make a notification sound. When this happens, the screen is already on when I open the lid and much of the bettery has been used. I've seen this occur both in and out of my bag. Nothing is plug into the laptop other then the dummy USB holder for the pen. I have Vantage installed and all updates have been applied.

I have a Yoga 700-11ISK, and would frequently put it to sleep, put it in my backpack, & pull it out hours later to find it RED hot & the battery 90% drained.  After wasting an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out why it kept doing this (and damaging other items in my backpack due to the extreme heat), I came across this thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/25982/page/2 The problem is that the keyboard remains active even when the lid is closed, so if it gets squeezed in such a way that the screen internally presses a key, it will silently wake itself up.  Apparently Lenovo has spent the past four years churning out laptop after laptop that suffer from this defect, never thinking to learn from their mistakes.  Here are more:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-keyboard-wakes-laptop-from-sleep/...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Return-of-the-wake-while-lid-closed-proble...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/35267/page/6 I've tried the hack/script solution proposed in the first thread, but it doesn't work (the keyboard can't be disabled by DevManView without a reboot).  The other threads apply to the Yoga 900, which I guess Lenovo fixed with a BIOS update. This issue is such a problem that I've literally stopped carrying the laptop around...which was th... I ordered a Yoga 2 Pro direct from LENOVO very late December - delivered around January 1st.I didn't have the time to unpack and examine for about a week. I unpacked and first turn on the computer around January 7...and over the next few days spent just a brief amount of time setting it up, updating, etc. My time playing with the computer was brief...just 30-45 minutes every other day or so..nothing more than a general look and feel. I was impressed with the look and feel...the build quality and performance. Over the weekend things changed for the worse....I was working with the unit in my living room in the morning....closed the lid...placed in on the coffee table. Later in the afternoon - some 4-5 hours later....I sat down, picked up the Yoga 2 Pro, and in short order noticed a crack extending from top left - just at the end of the LENOVO name - down to the middle of the bottom. The Yoga 2 was treated with white glove delicacy the entire time since it left it's box. I currently have numerous laptops (including 2 LENOVO) and tablets...from APPLE, ACER, LENOVO, AMAZON, etc.I have never experienced anything like it. The ONLY ideas I can come up with fall into two categories: 1 - the design is inherently flawed.      There is noticeable flex in the unit - both the keyboard and screen - yes - it is minimal (I never twisted or stressed it in anyway beyond gentle normal operation.  Perhaps the glass can't handle... Hi, I too have had the same problem. I had received my Lenovo Yoga 2 "Pro" today and when I first put it on my lap and opened it, I heard a crack. Oh what a traumatising sound it was. I investigated further and found that I had the same crack as yours. From the Lenovo sign all the way to the middle... I'm pretty sure the Yoga 2 "Pro" isn't so much of a Pro after all. The build quality is something out of a $500 laptop. The ridiculously thin glass and the bendy plastic isn't ideal at all, the Lenovo team clearly did not know how to design a laptop. I mean afterall, this is Lenovo "the king of laptops".  The reason why I am so offensive is because I had an unforgettable experience with my Surface 2 a couple of months ago. On the same day I received it the device crashed. I took it to a separate serviceman because Microsoft couldn't be bothered to have proper worldwide support. The Nvidia Tegra processor was faulty. You know, it always baffles me why Apple is considered the best. It's because it is, come to think of it. I have NEVER heard of a hardware issue out of ANY Apple device. The build quality on Apple devices is so professionally made, so professionally examined that it is completely out of Lenovo's league. No company can compete with Apple on build quality.  Apple are professional unlike Lenovo. Dan

I have had my Yoga Pro 3 for four days and the screen cracked.  I did not drop it or damage it, it just happened upon opening.  Customer Service is less than helpful and kept telling me it was my fault. They said they will send a technician out for $169 plus the cost of the screen which they could not give me a price on.  They wanted my credit card number up front.  If I can find a way to return it, I will.I think it is sad that they will not stand behind their product.  I paid over $1600 for this, and for it to crack in four days is unacceptable.I will not be purchasing Lenovo prodcuts in the future.  Unacceptable and uncaring customer service.  It is as if they simply read from a script.

I have the YOGA 90013ISK (the original one), I need to replace a cracked screen.  Can I replace it with the new screen from the 920 Vibes (UK name) https://www3.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/yoga/900-series/Yoga-920-Vibes/p/88YG9000860 If so, where can I get one? If not, what do I need to replace the cracked glass?  Do I need to replace the whole unit, or just the glass? Thanks

A:Replacement cracked Yoga 900 screen

The thing you call the glass is the static discharge digitizer.  There is a matrix of VERY fine wires running through it.  It cannot be replaced separately. (bonded with adhesive and connected via a non-reusable connection tape) Lenovo replaces the entire lid unit as an assembly.  You can replace the entire screen assembly as a unit (keeping the lid and hinges) as a unit, but it is difficult to get the camera and microphone moved without breaking anything and it is difficult to get the lid mounted so that it closes flat.  I have never tried, but I think the 920 will not fit.

I love this computer. All things considered, I think it's currently the best of its kind on the market. So it really upset me that it broke after I'd had it for one week. Here's what happened:            The little corner of a smooth, thin, cotton pillow case...for the kind of pillow that goes on a bed...Just the corner...got closed up in the computer when I shut the lid, right down next to the hinge on the right side. It was a flat inch of fabric. I moved to pick up the laptop and just as I did, just as I moved it SLIGHTLY downward then away from where the bespoke pillow sat, I heard a tiny crunching sound. That tiny sound was of three cracks forming in the lower right corner and one long crack extending, diagonally, across the entire screen to the upper left corner. Really, that's all it took! A thin scrap of cotton fabric, and my incredible miracle of modern science is totally unusable! The touch screen now has pressure points all over the place causing it to flip out. I've read of lots of Yoga 2 owners finding inexplicable cracks in the same exact area; they mostly determined that the hinge was too tight putting too much strain on the glass. I think that's probably still the case as the lid is stiff to add stability to it, which does seem necessary. But the glass is also VERY thin. Too thin to have the tensile strength to handle the amount of pressure applied by the movements of the hinge. That is a design flaw, and I'm not sure if there's a ... Read more

I'm usually a pretty careful person but in my one rare clumsy moment, I managed to drop my Yoga 900 on the floor from maybe a height of less than a metre.  The screen is cracked starting from the top right hand corner and has a hairline fracture all the way to the bottom left corner. It still works, as in I can still see things on the screen, but I keep getting jumpy cursors and whatnot (expected of a cracked touch-enabled screen). So my question is: What am I suppose to do? I've called Lenovo Support and I've chatted with an Encompass technician, and although they were very nice, it didn't help because there doesn't seem to be a replacement screen available for purchase/repairs. I've only had this laptop for 5 months and it seems ludicrous to buy a new one already...... Edit: This is for the Yoga 900-13ISK.

The screen of my Yoga 14 ThinkPad Type 20FY touchscreen has cracked. I have a few questions on how to replace the screen.

Serial Number: XXXXXXXX                               Mod edit:  Serial number removed per forum rules
Machine Type Model: 20FY0002US

1. Can I replace the touchscreen with a non-touch screen? It looks like touchscreens are delicate and expensive. I didn't want a touchscreen but Best Buy did not have that in their store.
2. What is the part number for the screen? I need it to purchase online. Online forums suggest opening the screen to see the part number. Is there a way to see part number using model, and machine type (posted above)? I need part number of non-touch screen, if that will work with the laptop.
3. What is the cheapest and reliable place to buy a replacement screen? I plan to replace it myself.

I would be appreciative of your help.

Hi all, so I bought an 1st Gen X1 Yoga (20FR) earlier in the year, and due to an unfortunate accident the screen is now cracked and the touchscreen no longer works. I'm quite upset about it, but a repair from Lenovo would be 580 which is far too much. I'm happy to buy a display separetely and install it myself, my I'm unclear about screen compatibility. My screen is a 14? The part quoted by Lenovo is 00UR192, but would this one work for instance? Many thanks, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a global traveller, based in Africa, and wanted to share my terrible experience with Lenova Customer service. After a 10 year stint with Apple, I decided to give Lenova a chance, given the improvement in their product line and opted to purchase a Yoga 900 in Taipei during the business trip there last December. I was very happy with the product until last month, when I got  my screen cracked on a flight from Lagos to Nairobi. I thought, this is inconvinient, but I have global warranty so it should be fixed very soon. This is where the saga began. I checked four countries that i know I was visiting over the next few weeks to see if I can get replacement or a fix. In Nigeria --> They do not have a service centre, so only through 3rd party service centres. I register for a repair, after 3 weeks, they called me to tell me they cannot get the part.In Kenya --> same storyIn Turkey -->  would take 3-4 weeks and no guarantee they would be able to source the partIn US --> the usual, would take 3-4 weeks and no guarantee they would be able to source the part. In addition they told me they are not even sure whether they can service my computer, given it was purchased out of US. It is beyond me how a company who claims to be global can fail on customer service and support in such a major way. Hi all,
I was just wondering if you can advise on something.
My new laptop keeps waking itself from sleep in my bag. As far as I can tell, the screen comes on and does not turn off and the laptop stays on until it runs out of battery (about 9 hours). This causes the screen and laptop in general to get very hot, as it is in my bag and in a laptop sleeve.
I wondered if it was bad for the screen to get this hot? I know the components can handle it, otherwise the laptop would shut down. But I am worried about the screen.
It is the Asus UX303LA-R4338H. It has a LCD panel (matte, non-touch, if that makes a difference). Windows 8.1.
As for the waking up: I think it might have been waking after 3 hours to go in to hibernate, so I have turned off hibernation in power settings (but I am yet to try this latest change). I have no tasks scheduled to wake the laptop, all devices bar the keyboard aren't allowed to wake it, can't be woken by internet, etc. What is curious is that it when this happens it does not sleep after 15 minutes or turn off the display after 5 minutes, as per my settings. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Summary:-
1. Is this bad for laptop screen/elsewhere on the laptop to be on, in a closed environment, and this hot for 9 hours?
2. Any further ideas why it might be turning on and then not sleeping after 15 minutes?

It's definitely not good for the battery. Getting hot in the bag isn't god either. If it was me I would do a full shut down instead of sleep mode.

I purchased a new Lenovo 320 15 from best buy today. While loading programs I attempted to adjust the screen angle and immediately it cracked from the place where I touched the screen on the side. The computer was not dropped, hit, banged or anything. There is absolutely NO damage to the computer shell. If you opened another brand new one and place them side by side there'd be no difference. I could not believe a computer 6 could be this fragile. Neither BEST BUY OR LENOVO will cover the repair or replace. I would NEVER had bought this product if I'd known it was this fragile and cheaply made. I am beyond pissed about this waste of money!!

Okay so like the title says I recently cracked my laptop screen and since I don't have any warranty I'm going to do the repair myself. My first question would simply be what parts do I need to buy? Looking at my laptop it appears that only the glass panel that goes over the digitizer is what got messed up. The LCD panel is fine and the touchscreen still works so I believe all I have to do is replace the front bezel? Is that possible or do I need to buy a whole new LCD panel to repair my laptop?  Besides two thin cracks going through the screen, most of what shatted was the top right bezel portion.  Please help me !

A:Lenovo Edge 2 -1580 Cracked Screen. What do I do?

The thing you call the front glass is the digitizer. There is a matrix of VERY fine wires running through the glass.  The whole screen is bonded together so you need to replace the whole panel.

Hi all, About 1 month ago I dropped my X1 Yoga on the ground and the screen cracked. I don't have the warranty on this laptop. This is an OLED model and I spent some time finding a proper screen replacement. Now I just received the new unit and very carefully put it in, connected the 2 wires, and tried to turn it on. The laptop boots up with a black screen, keyboard is working, and I can enter Windows and hear the notice voices. But the screen is not turned on, no backlight, no image, although it looks identical to the original screen and is connected in the exact same way.  Any suggestions? P/N is 01AW977.

A:X1 Yoga OLED - replaced screen unit not working

My guess is that you blew the backlight fuse (on the motherboard) when the screen broke.  Most shops don't do that sort of repair.  I will need a new vocabulary.  OLED screens don't have normal backlights.  I will have to call it the illumination fuse.

I've been experiencing a lot of weird quirks with my Yoga 2, and I'm not sure whether Windows 8.1, my specific combination or drivers, or a hardware issue is to blame.  The most consistent, and annoying issue, is the laptop constantly freezes after putting it to sleep.  It is almost transparent -- I never see the blue screen, because I've already closed the laptop.  I just open it up, the Lenovo logo pops up, and it turns out my computer has rebooted.  The windows event log confirms that a critical error has occurred. I've performed a factory reset and it still occurs.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Freezing after sleep

Hi,I have the same problem with my yoga 2 pro. I've tried to find solutions but none of them work for me. My best guess is that the new hardware have compatibility issues with windows 8.1. My spec is i7 4500 8GB RAM 256GB SSDBTW, you can avoid this frustration by disable Sleep mode. I use Hybernate mode for both my power botton and lid-close actions. Setting are in Power Options.I hope Lenovo take this seriously, it's a shame that we have to experience all this. Don't they care about branding?

Hi guys,  Got my yoga last month and it's been okay, bit slow to load from sleep but it's done the job. Only thing is its now in a permanent sleep mode. I've tried re-charging it from zero battery, hard reset, putting the lid up and down, combining that with hard reset too. what to do? Do I have to send it somewhere? Obviously I don't want to open the thing up, I'd rather leave that to a professional. cheers.
