Dde Server Window: Iexplore.exe - Application Error

Q: Dde Server Window: Iexplore.exe - Application Error

I receive the following error with the "DDE Server Window..." message:The instruction at "0x62308e19" referenced memory at "0x03bb2090". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.I click on OK and the following "DDE Server Window..." message pops up:The instruction at "0x01e7418e" referenced memory at "0x0216c590". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program....no matter how many times I click on the OK button, the box just doesn't seem to go away. I ran SpySweeper, Norton Internet Security and AdAware in first normal and then in safe mode. And I'm still getting the error.This is the HijackThis logfile:Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 3:56:06 PM, on 3/18/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AppCore\AppSvc32.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exeC:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\Program Files\Support.com\bin\tgcmd.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exeC:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotdd01.exeC:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpomau08.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SSU.EXEC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\YAHOOM~1.EXEC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Documents and Settings\Family\My Documents\HijackThis.exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.comcast.net/toolbar2.0/search/R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.comcast.netR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.htmlR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.comcast.net/R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.comcast.net/toolbar2.0/search/R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi JohnR1976 and welcome to the Bleeping Computer forums. My name is Whisperer and I will be helping you with your problem. I am currently a Trainee in Malware removal and, as such, ALL of my fixes will be checked by malware experts. I am sorry for the delay in answering your problem but things are pretty hectic in the anti-malware world. If you still need help then please read on.I note that HijackTHis is residing within My Documents, I strongly urge you to move it to its own unique folder because it saves backups of any alterations it makes within the same folder as it resides. You could either make a new folder within you?re My Documents folder or else put it in the root drive as shownOpen Windows Explorer and click on the C driveFrom the menu select New then Folder Right-click the folder and rename it to HijackThis or HJTPlace the HijackThis.exe file there. If you have not done so already, please do the initial cleanup steps in the following instructions and then post a new log: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting a HijackThis Log To assist me in any cleanup, I would like you to produce a list of installed programs. To do this open your HijackThis Click on Open the Misc Tools section or Config? button, depending on how you are set up. If you used the Config... option then click the Misc Tools tabSelect Open Uninstall Manager , a list of your installed programs will be displayed.Select the Save List? button and save the file to your desktop. Please post in your reply A copy of this list An up-to-date HijackThis log An indication of what you were doing when you get your DDE message eg closing a specific program etcGT

Hello, I'm a new member and know very little about the tech side of a computer. For instance, I have no idea what this window means . It's all greek to me. I tried gettng rid of it with my so-called rescue programs like pc rescue and registry fix to no avail. Should I just ignore it and maybe it will eventually go away like other windows I got in the past that were identical but had different numbers? Thanks.

When I try to log on to the internet I get this error:

iexplore.exe-Application Error
The instruction at "0x77c46fa3" referenced memory at "0x045e9000".
The memory could not be "written".

This prevents me from logging on to the internet (I'm using my lap top to send this).
This started after a failed update. Tried system restore. Tried downloading Internet Explorer to a memory stick then tried to reinstall. All failed.
Have Hijackthis on the computer that is having the problem if you need a log.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,L

click on ok to terminate the program

A:Iexplore.exe - application error

First, verify the spelling:
iexplore.exe is the process for Internet Explorer

Second, verify the error message:
"0x001708f1"

I cannot identify the above number.

Third, find the Error in the Event Viewer that corresponds to the time you get this message:

B]Start> Run> type in eventvwr[/B]

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:
1. Click to open the log>
2. Look for the Error>
3 .Right click on the Error> Properties>
4. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow
5. Paste here (Ctrl V)

You can ignore tWarningd and Information events. If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed. You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.

Please do not copy the entire Event log.Click to expand...

Please include some information about your system: operating system, installed RAM

I get similar messages occassionally, when closing out of the Internet.

Supposedly they occur when a website tries to enter strings of text into the index.dat file on your computer but the file names it wants to store are too long. Then you get the error.

This is what I read on one of the Microsoft topics about the issue. They suggest clearing your cookies, cache, and internet history. Usually that should work.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899811/en-us

For me, I have my history set to 0 days so it'll clear by itself the next day. If I do have the error occurring, it will 100% never happen the next day usually, so.

But I would try clearing the history and then give it a go.

First thing you should do is look over the First Steps at Removing Malware , this is the most common cause for unexpected crashes in IE that just start happening.

Also, Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized) (Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

In all likelihood you will be prompted to insert the Windows XP CD.

Visit Windows Update Site, make sure you have the latest Windows components, IE components, drivers and other updates for your system.

Also, what version of IE are you using?

"The instruction at "0x05200ce2" referenced memory at "0x0e783000", the memory could not be "written" and it shuts down the internet completely." I am given the option to click "ok" to terminate program or click "cancel" to debug the program

When this started yesterday I had google.com set as my homepage, did some experimenting and noticed that if I set the home page to MSN it did not happen as often as it seems to on google. Initially I thought this was due to an update as per a google search and reset the tab options - which seemed to slow down the problem yesterday afternoon.

However having same problem again today.

Ran a Malware scan yesterday just in case and it found 23 bugs which were all removed. I downloaded this a month or so ago per instructions from bleepingcomputer along with the RKill. Had an infection last month. Maybe I didn't get rid of it all the way???

Joined the bleepingcomputer community this morning and have worked through all of the instructions of "to do's" before making this post. Sorry I have done several searches - could not find the same issue.

gmer did note a problem with: device\harddisk0\[email protected]

Please help.

The symptom you describe could be malware related or they could be due to other reasons to include problems with "Add-ons" like the Google Toolbar. Sometimes disabling or uninstalling the toolbar will correct the error.Open IE and go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab. Recently, I have been getting many messages such as: The instruction at 0x0017faf3 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. click OK to terminate program, and several other: The instruction at -------- referenced memory at ------, and: The exception Privileged instruction. At about the time these problems began, I uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, which I installed a week or two earlier and didn't like. Could this uninstall have caused the problems?

try this Start --> run --> Type in "msconfig" and press "Enter"
goto Startup tab
Disable all the applications there except anti-virus.Reboot the machine and check if the issue continues. If not, then enable one at a time in the same startup tab and find the application or process that might cause this

Lets see a log.

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

that means that there is a problem when closing up the program, try running checkdisk, there is most likely a programming problem, and unless we break a few laws, only mircosoft can fix.

A:Iexplore.exe Application Error

For some reason, and instruction (program) that was executed in Internet Explorer (at memory location 0x7c9118c5) tried to access your memory (at memory location @0x70752d78)in a way that could not be read. The problem is finding out what caused this error. If the @ symbol isn't a typo, then I'd suspect that there was a problem with the program (instruction) that was trying to use Internet Explorer in this way.In short, the most likely cause is malware (viruses or spyware), but there can be other causes associated with it. I'd first suggest trying these free, online scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been taken over by the bad guys:http://safety.live.comhttp://housecall.trendmicro.comIf Internet Explorer doesn't stay open long enough to finish the first scan, I'd download the free Firefox browser ( http://www.mozilla.com ) and run the second scan (the first one only works with Internet Explorer).

About half the time I close IE7, I get the following error message:

The instruction at "0x01c82bf2" referenced memory at "0x02436c58". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

The numbers and letters vary, and it doesn't happen every time, but often enough.

When I originally installed IE7, I did not get this error. It happened sometime within the last month, after patch Tuesday.

The only program I installed in the last 30 days or so was I-Tunes & Quicktime (latest versions).

Any thoughts to what might be causing this?

I have Windows XP Pro, SP2, fully patched.

Thanks.

If the program opens I can ignore the Application Error and continue to work. However closing the warning window also terminates the program.
Any inital suggestions?
