I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have an emachines desktop that came preinstalled with Windows 7. I had to perform a full system recovery to get rid of the system doctor 2014 virus. I purchased the set of recovery discs from acer for my specific machine. All went well with as far as putting in the various discs when asked. The system rebooted and I got the screen that comes up where is shows the programs being installed and the progress bar. Every single time no matter what I do it gets stuck on installing office at the same point. Which says 16 of 24.It will not go past this. If you hold power button down and force restart it comes back on at the same point. Please...any suggestions. Thanks

A:Windows 7 gets stuck installing office

When I used to install Office 97 it would get to a certain point and then stop. If I waited long enough a message would tell me that it could not read a particular file. I would then get an option to cancel or ignore. I would choose ignore and the program always worked with no problem. I had to wait several minutes before that would pop up. Not sure if this helps you or not.

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a new Asus Notebook G56JR and installed Windows 7 on it. Didn't seem to have any problems. Today, all of a sudden, when I turned it on, it said that Windows failed to start and that I should go into recovery mode. And after this, the recovery loop occurred. It was telling me that the errors were fixed, but the next time I was starting it, I had to go through the same process. Finally, I decided to re-install the Windows cleanly.
The process went fine, but now it has been stuck at "Windows is finalizing your settings" for several hours. Tried to restart the laptop and reboot, but it just skips ahead to resuming the installation. I can't acces the BIOS either, I've tried every key several times. Maybe there's a fix to with the cmd.exe (Shift+F10), but after "tasklist /v |more" there's a really long list and I don't know what to "kill". I'm out of ideas, I don't know what to do anymore since I can't do anything on the laptop besides waiting...
I should also mention that I'm using a USB port to boot the installation from. Before I decided to re-install the windows, I was able to access the BIOS and I set it to boot from it first at start-up. I assume it is still set that way.
Is there another way to install it cleanly? Could this happen because the windows files are corrupted?

Edit: I was thinking of buying a Windows 8 OS, but how do I know it won't behave the same as now and skip to the finalizing part ... Read more

I'm setting up my new PC, which is running Win 2000. When I first got it, I logged in as administrator and started installing software and personalizing my configuration. Then I got smart.

I added myself as a new user in the Administrators groups, then started logging in as me rather than the default. Unfortunately I also realized at that point that the personal settings I had established so far were saved under Administrator. No problem: I was able to find and move a lot of the things I had done into the All Users profile, so I didn't have to recreate everything I had done.

However, I cannot find the place where the settings for the Office Shortcut Bar are saved. I did quite a bit to customize it, and would like to be able to recover what I did rather than start from scratch. Can anyone tell me where this file is kept? Is it in an .ini file or something?

Thanks!

Hi fred93 The documents you created with Office programs aren't related to it. You can simply uninstall Microsoft Office 2003, and install Office 2010 and you'll be able to use them again. Simple as that.

Hey guys, my wife is taking a course that requires her to install Office 2010. The issue is that she wants to preserve her current setup which includes Office 2003 and 2007 existing side-by-side on her Windows 7 (64-bit Home Edition) notebook.
The 2003/2007 setup is not one that she really wants to mess with (i.e., she has no interest whatsoever in uninstalling the two Office suites that she currently has), so ideally she would like to have Office 2010 installed temporarily (for the duration of her course) on the machine without interfering with the current setup.
What is the most painless way of doing this that does not involve shelling out for a second computer?

A:Installing Office 2010 on a machine with Office 2003/2007

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I had a similar situation here but in the end I opted out.

I removed both Office 2003 and 2007 and installed 2010, I then used virtual XP and installed 2003 there, 2007 and 2010 are too similar and the dll's will 'bite' along the way.

Even my 2003 and 2007 gave me issues after some time.

Have you checekd what the Microsoft Support site says?

Hi,

Before installing Office 365 (office 2016) and onedrive, my username to logon to my laptop, was "AJ ANNING" and a specific pAasswAord. Now my username does not show up at logon. "JAMES ANNING" is what shows up, and the username is now my email "[email protected]" and the password is different. Going to user accounts in control panel the only user is "[email protected]". The user "AJ ANNING" is not there.
Also, I can no longer access 3 of my network drives.
Please advise,

So even though "the password is different" you are still able to log onto the computer? I installed Office 365 on a new Notebook on Thursday and none of the log-in for the computer changed. As for the Networked drives, you may need to use File Explorer to Disconnect the drives then Map them again [I've had to a couple of times in the past].

Originally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.
Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
Does this mean 2003 is fully uninstalled?
Thanks a lot!!

A:My office 2003 disappeared after installing office 2007

You can check to see if it is fully uninstalled (I am sure that it is) by going to search and typing the name there. If it is still present, the program will appear.

Worst case scenario, just remanants will remain. Download and use ccleaner. If you run this software, you can be certain that 2003 has gone to software heaven.

If given the option not to use the reg cleaner inculuded in ccleaner take it. I and many others at the forum feel that reg cleaners do more harm than good.

I plan on buying Office 10 in a few weeks (from my college's store, since I get a nifty discount), however my Toshiba laptop has a pre-loaded trial version of Office 07. I have not put in the trial product key yet, so I haven't activated the trial yet (but I have used Word 07 a couple times, but cancelling out of the product key screen).

What would I do to install Office 10? Do I remove Office 07? Would, after installing Office 10, i'd still get the Office 07 nag inside of Office 10? What do I do?

If I decide to install OpenOffice.org instead, do I then uninstall Office 07? Would my .doc files (from another computer and never opened with Office 07) still look for Office or would they open immediately in OpenOffice.org? Same question if I install Office 10?

How would one go about removing this un-activated trial version of Office 07?

PS: If my college's store has Office 07 instead and since I never activated the trial, how would I go about installing that?

Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?

Hi Tech Guys,

I currently use Office XP (2002) and need to install Office 2003 to use emails I was using on another machine.

I deleted Office XP using Control Panel add and Remove Programs, backed up my Outlook .pst file, changed the name of my .pst file from Outlook to Outlook2 for extra security, and ran the disk to install Office 2003 (this disk has been used before and should work).

The Office 2003 disk would not complete as it does not find some .cab files. When I check the disk these .cab files are there so I don't understand.

My machine is a little old but works well, Toshiba Portege 4010 P3 933MHz, 750MB RAM, Windows XP Pro SP3. I have AVG and Malawarebytes installed. 28 GB HD Capacity with 7.26 GB free.

Cookiegal has been helping me with some ther quetions and has seen scan logs etc to know it is pretty clean of malware and other junk.

Is there a solution to this? I have some important stuff I need to access from emails done in Office 2003. Can I open these somehow in Office 2002 Outlook?

All good ideas welcomed.

Thanks

When you install Office 2007, it will find Office XP and ask if you want to replace it. If you say "no," it will install 2007 in a different directory, keeping both versions of Office with one exception. You cannot have more than one version of Outlook, so regardless of what you choose, Outlook will be replaced.

It acts like it's about to load and than it restarts and does the same thing over and over. Sigh...very frustrating..

I have a dual language set-up going on my laptop of English as the primary and Korean as an option. For some reason, my computer shut down on its own for whatever reason, then upon start-up and log-in, the language settings were automatically changed to Korean. Unfortunately, I'm not fluent in it, so I don't know how to go about changing it back to English.
On a side-note, after this happened, there was an indication of an update on my Shut Down button, which I clicked and updated. During the update installation process, on the bottom of the screen was the usual Windows 7 logo, but had a Red-Orange "K" after it. Dunno what that was (gonna take a wild guess and say "Korean"?), but it went away..

Anyway, main problem is the language setting, which, for the record, happens often with Windows, in my experience. Anyone able to assist?

what make and model video card do you have?

if you have onboard video, we will need either the make/model of your computer or the model number from your motherboard to find the correct video drivers for you.

if you have an actual video card, pull it out and look at it and tell us the make./model and we will find the drivers for you.

Hello.

Recently I had very serious troubles with the office's network. A week ago some files (some cad drawings) came to my machine on a usb stick. So I tried with Clamwin AV, to perform a memory scan; Clamwin can detect the process and unload from memory, but after some time (minutes, hours) the alerts continues. Also tried to rebbot Windows and manually unload these process via Task Manager, with the same result.

Hello,

I have a Gateway laptop with Windows 7.

Last week I noticed there was a trojan on my laptop, so just to be safe, I deleted my entire operating system/data and did a clean installation...I wanted to just start fresh.

To do the re-installation I used my Gateway System Disc, Recovery Discs, and Languaue Disc but during the screen where my laptop was installing pre-factory programs it got stuck at Office 2010 (46/56).

After waiting for almost a day I restarted my computer but it loaded back to the exact same spot. I can exit out of the screen with CTRL-ALT-DEL but if I log out of Windows or restart my computer I'm right back to being stuck at Office 2010.

I have no idea what else to do and I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Possibly the disc is damaged in that area and the data cannot be read.

HI,First of all, sorry for my english, becaouse it's not my native language... Recently i bought used lenovo T480 from ebay, and some upgrades. Its 20L5000YUS model, with i5 8250u CPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB Toshiba nvme ssd Right after I bought it, i upgraded 8GB more ram (16GB in total), added 1TB BPX SSD NME, and another 128GB Toshiba nvme SSD (42mm) Thinkpad is running great, but one thing bother me After making change in BIOS and pressing F10 to save changes, Thinkapad just stuck. I waited 20+ minutes to reboot or something, but nothing. I alway have to turn off by foce (hold power 6 sec), and after that, system boots fine.Settings maded in BIOS are saved, but system just wont reboot... Here are video explaining what I'm sayin Things I already triedTried with power adapter attached and detached.Tried to disable one hard disk, then another, same thing. Tested hardare with Lenovo UEFI boot, all seems OK.I downgraded BIOS to 1.23 to check if there is a problem with BIOS version, but problem persist. (I returned later to latest BIOS 1.24)Tried to disable secure boot, trid to erase all keys within BIOS, but problem is still here I have two more thinkpads (older models) and I know that this is not normal behaviour. Anyone know what's may be the problem? P.S. Thinkpad is in waranty 650+ more days, but I'm not sure if I can claim warranty, becaouse i bought it used.

A:T480 stuck after saving BIOS settings

Warranty rules are different in different countries.  In U.S. buying used is no problem, but I don't know about Serbia.  You need to check with local support.  Boot into the BIOS and load defaults (F9) and save.  See if that helps.  Pull out the hardware you added: memory, SSD, etc.  See what happens with the original configuration.  What is the boot order?  Remove network boot.

Hi Guys, It's me again. I've reinstalled Windows on my netbook, and reached the final stage, so I've waited for the "Finalizing your Settings" to complete and I've run it overnight and even let it run whole day. And when I finally arrived from school it is still "Finalizing Your Settings". What should I do?

Recentely the time on my OS gets reset to a wrong time everytime, and when I go to the BIOS, I see that it keeps resetting there. Edit: Also, I can't change any other settings besides the time, as it gets stuck everytime I touch other settings? Is the battery the cause? Or maybe a virus? Other thing? Is it hard to replace the CMOS battery there? Ty!

Hello,

Newbe here.  I was wondering if anyone can help me with resetting my Dell XPS (2005) with Windows XP OS?

I am reinstalling the OS manually with the CD that came with the computor.  I followed the instructions for a manual restart and added the first disc Dell XP OS all was going well when a window poped up.  It says "the file 'ha20x2k.sys' on Creative Installer CD-Rom is needed."  "type in the path where the file is located and click ok."  Well I am assuming they mean the Creative Sound Blaster X-fi cd and I put it in and nothing happens.  Also the arrow/cursor doesn't move nor can I type anything in, what I am doing wrong?  The window also doesn't let me see if time is elapsing on the installation of the first CD.

HELP!

Thanks

Somehow or other Powerpoint has completed screwed the setting in my Windows 7 UI. I didn't change any settings IN Powerpoint, but simply viewing a document and that has caused it to break most of the conventions of a standard Windows UI.
Scrolls bars don't scroll anymore. You have to click above and below the bar to move up or down. Windows cannot be dragged AT ALL. They are frozen in place wherever they happen to open and cannot be moved or resized. Menus cannot be opened with a single click anymore. They jump open and instantly close again, forcing many clicks until they accidentally stay open so you can select something Text cannot be selected by clicking and dragging anymore, but clicking anywhere in a document, which used to merely place the cursor/insertion point, now selects random blocks of text. All of this has made my computer seriously annoying to use.
What could PP have changed? I can't find settings related to scroll bars except for appearance. I don't care what they look like, I want them to work. Nor for window dragging, again except for the appearance things. I can't even guess where to look for settings related to selecting text with the mouse. Yes, I rebooted. Whatever PP did has been set somewhere and will not go away until I find the settings.

A:UI settings screwed up by MS Office

Hi,

Did you download the PPT from the internet or receive it in a e-mail?

I have to ask this because in case you didn't know Powerpoint files can also contain malicious code!

Hello.
I am configuring PC for small office (no AD domain, only one PC). I have configured some GPO rules (min password length, password complexity, etc), but since this is my first time of doing this for office use, I need some recommendation of good practice.
I want to limit user account rights from accessing advanced computer settings, so that user can't "destroy" computer. Current PC is total mess (user has admin rights...).
Please advise, what is good practice for small office PC with Local GPOs.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing some issues with the installation (or failed installation!) of Office 2013 Home & Business.

When I initially installed the software I wasn't aware that I should leave the computer running whilst Office 'installed in the background'. I rebooted the computer too early and the installation became corrupted.

At this point I attempted to fix the installation, however there was no improvement, so I made the decision to uninstall Office all together. Once uninstalled, I then reinstalled (from the installation CD / DVD).

Last night I left my computer sitting at 94% installed, as shown below, and when I returned to my computer after 12 hours the installation had not increased by a single percent!

I am now at the point of uninstalling again, however I do not want to reinstall and find the same issue again.

Perhaps there is an "Office cleanup" program that I can run, or certain temp files that need to be deleted, or Registry keys that need tweaking...at any rate any suggestions on how to successfully install the software will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

A:Can't install Office 2013, stuck on 94% progress!

Try uninstalling Office again & then disable your anti virus program, before again installing it.
When Office 2013 is installed from a DVD, it does some of the installation via the internet from Microsoft, so it is also important to have you internet connection working at the same time.
Hope this gets you up & running.
