Hello, I am experiencing a problem with my yoga 370 When plugged to lenovo docking station on usb-C, it work fine however, when pluged to an USB-C power adapter (45W), or an external battery (USB-C - 45W as well), il says it is charging, however : - it is not (or very slowly) - I am experiencing significant performance drop (laptop using only 10% of CPU power , opening windows setting menu takes more than 10 seconds !) I just cannot understand why this is happening, USB-C is supposed to be pretty standard, isn't it ? AND I found that : - lenovo chargers are clunky, having a smaller USB-C (apple like) one would be much better - having a spare battery is a must for long flights, ... I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hy guys !Just wondering if anyoane is experiencing the same issue as me.Here it goes.T460S type 20FA , everything working fine while on battery, but as soon as a power adapter is plugged in (any type, 45W,65W or 90W), CPU clock goes down to about 400Mhz, performance beeing hardly affected.Did already the latest BIOS update to version 1.28, tried removing the battery packs, resetting CMOS to default, none with any success.Already checked all power setting in the OS, aswell as booted live USB, issue still persists.Wondering if this is an isolated case, or anybody has the same issue.Thanx Adrian

I'm getting poor performance on my Yoga 730-15. I suspect Power Throttling. Is there anything that can be done? I heard that power limits are set by Lenovo on the BIOS and there is nothing we can do as user. Could Lenovo add the option in the BIOS to increase the power limits?

Back in August of 2016, I purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 for taking notes in lectures. I became very unhappy with it very quickly and resorted to buying a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga (1st gen). I fell in love with this machine at first sight. Great specs, decent price, yadda yadda. The pen capability is near perfect and I now have all my hand-written notes organized neatly on a cloud service for convenient viewing at anytime.  About 9 months into the warranty, I soon noticed these white spots appearing on the screen. About the same time, i noticed the pen was becoming very inaccurate when trying to write on the screen. This didn't really seem like a mishap to me, so I consulted Lenovo Customer Service about honoring the warranty and replacing the screen. They were phenomenal! I shipped the laptop and within a week the repair was finished and the laptop on its way back to me.  Now, about 9 months later, the same "white spots" are starting to show again. The pen accuracy is again starting to dwindle and it's becoming extremely frustrating that a >$1,500 laptop is failing so quickly. This laptop is made to write on. They've done a great job in designing the retractable keyboard, but made one huge mistake in designing the functionality of tablet mode. Hi, I bought myself a Yoga 510 ISK14 for christmas and I'm quite happy of it.I've upgraded it to 8Gb of RAM and 500Gb of SSD. I have had this ThinkPad for a little over two months, and to my desmay it has been performing very poorly, and constantly crashing. I only use it for business and school, I'm not running anything crazy on it. However I do have Adobe after effects, and photoshop, but the poor performance happens while using simple programs such as excel, word, etc. Please advice.

There is stuttering in games as well , though there aren't any drops in FPS. I have the latest Intel Hd drivers - 20.19.15.4642. Hi.i have recently purchanced a Lenovo Yoga-500. it's working perfectly when fully charged and not charging.although when i'm at home and using it while it's plugged to electricity it runs extremly slow.My operating system is windows 10, Specs are i7-5500u 2.40Ghz8Gb Ram, Display system Intel graphics 5500 and Nvidia GT 940M.when the laptop is charging and operaring at the same time the fan runs really slowly, once i remove it from the power source it IMMIDIATLY start running at full speed.Anyone can help me solve this issue please??

My Yoga 370 is not charging eventhough the adapter is pluged in. The power stays constant at 39%. When I disconnect the adapter the power decreases as normal but it dosen't charge anymore. I'm afraid that when it reaches 0% the Laptop won't work without power cable. It says in the settings: connectet, not charging (in German).Greetings Mogli

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

When I hover the mouse over it, it says "charging". Nope.  Mine charges fine.  I have other issues but pen charging is not one of them.  If yours charges fine in another laptop that to me means nothing is wrong with the pen but something is wrong with the pen charging on your X1Y3.  Since its new  I personally would call support.

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.
 
The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:
 
? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hi, welcome to the forums.
 
I do not know a solution for your problem, but I want to suggest you some trial an error to see if it can be software related issue.
 
1) Check the Lenovo Settings and see if it asks you to update the System Interface Foundation drivers.
2) Check the support site and just in case check that you have the latest BIOS and the latest "Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 10 "
 
After that check the "Lenovo Settings" and give it a try turning on the option of "extended the battery life", set it to a 80% and give it some time for it to discharge. After that disable that feature to see if the battery charges back again.
 
Also on "Lenovo Settings", on the same "battery/power" page it has a "restablish" options, maybe you can also try that later.
 
Sorry that this is just some trial and error, but it is what it cames to my mind right now.

Hello! I am coming back to my laptop after not having used in much over the summer and I noticed that it says "plugged in, not charging". When I unplug it, the battery starts to go down but it will not go back up if I plug it back in. Hello,My brand new i7 8gig ssd tpy has suffered from an charging fault. DO NOT charge an additional device (phone) from the tpy. Mine went into a thermal runaway and luckly I caught it.I had put the laptop to sleep and on charge with my phone into a USB. The laptop got extreamly hot very quickly and no cooling or shut off activated. I would hate to see what happens if left unattended.My yoga now will not boot and is stuck in "sleep mode" also.

Sorry to hear about this!   First and foremost, I recommend you contact service and have the system checked out and repaired before using it again.
 
Could you also tell us a bit more about the configuration?     What phone did you plug in, and what is the specifified input power required for charging that phone?  (You could look at the output power rating of the adapter that came with the phone).
 
Which USB port did you plug the phone into?
 
How much charge did the ThinkPad battery have when you put it to sleep? (Suspend)  Also, please confirm you put it in suspend / sleep vs hibernation?

As I'm typing this now im running on about 20% battery and dropping. I've had my Z710 Ideapad for almost 2 years now. within these 2 years I've replaced the battery twice, got 3 new adapters, and had sent it in for the factory to basiclly gut it and replace it with graphics drives that were inferior to the previous ones.  So needless to say Its really annoying that now my biggest problem is that my laptop now will randomly stop charging randomly, regardless of if its on or off.

1: Remove the AC adapter plug.
2: Remove the battery.
3: Press the power button for about 30 seconds. This will clear the capacitors.
4: Insert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
5: Press the power button.

Hello I own a thinkpad S1 yoga laptop (core i3 processor and 4 GB RAM). It suddenly stopped charging using 45W adapter (20V, 2.5 A). However, it is charging fine using a 90W adapter (20V, 4.5 A) which I got with my previous Lenovo laptop Any recent windows or system updates caused this? Is there any solution other than using a 90W adapter which I am scared to use as it may charge 47W battery too rapidly casuing a quick death of battery or explosion in the worst case. Please help

I believe the AC Adapter has gone bad as you have mentioned that its charging fine with 90W Adapter 
I don't think so it is caused due to software or Windows updates. You can also check whether its getting charged in shutdown mode or not to confirm.

Hi!I have Samsung Galaxy S8. It have USB Type-C connector and charger which can deliver up to ~18W(?). I know from some sources that I can charge my phone via Laptop charger (it will step down voltages and amps accordingly). But I'm curious if it will work another way around. Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". What exactly is the problem, and how do I fix it? The laptop came with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! ??

A:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

Hello everyone, I recently got a Yoga 460 thinkpad notebook with win10 already installed. I'm currently struggling with some issues, the biggest one being a big loss of performance while the computer is plugged in and charging. For example, it cannot run a 720p video file without excessive lagging and freezing. The overall interface is laggy in fact, Task Monitor needs more than 20 seconds to appear after ctrl+shift+esc, chrome become unstable and slow, very simple game boy emulator solwed down and such..  Along with this first issues, I've 2 smaller issues being: -Some windows and pop-up windows suffer very low resolution, they look quite blurry, but just some of them.-I had to desinstall Dolby Digital and its driver because they were interfering with the audio output (saccades of high pitched noise each time a new tab was opened somewhere on the computer) when it was turned off. (was fonctionning ok when turned on, but god I hated the distortion it gave to my music). As anyone experienced those issues?Thank you all in advance, Alex

I think any build-up of dust can lead to poor performance due to heat. And heat can lead to crashes, BSODs, etc.

Summary- ThinkPad T550-just over a year old and out of warranty- completly dead with some sort of hardware issue. Lenovo customer support- refused to stay on the line to offer assistance since it was out of warranty.  Good product and support, I tell you.

i had to make recovery and it failed and i brought win 10 image on usb and i recoverd itbut when i connected my charger it give no thing not charging and not showing that the charger is conected at alli have to long press the power button till the device turn on then turen off after that every thing workedbut i noted that it happend again when the lap frezezz  while shutting down sometimes and i have to turn it off by long press so i have to long press for  10 or 15 seconed to be aple to charge again cuz if i conect the charger it gives nothing on screen or blinking and im afraid that someday this hint stopps alsocan anyone tell me what is my problem

Hello.
I have noticed that recently my computer has slowed down considerably. I first noticed it when it stutters to play the opening .wav sounds on startup, continued by a very slow load time when opening Firefox or even the start menu once windows is booted. On top of that, game performance has also taken a hit (longer load times, slower FPS). I have ran Adware, Spybot, and Spyware blaster. Adware didnt find anyting, Spyware blaster found a few things, but I removed them. Also ran an anti-virus scan and defrag with the Windows defragger, with no results. The Panda spyware/malware detector can not complete either because it freezes while scanning C:/ndtlr or something of the like. Here's my Hijack This log. My computer reacts slowly.When I click shut down it shows a windows what do you want the computer to do after 5 minutes. When I start the computer it takes about 20 minutes before any program works. When I click on my computer it again takes 5 minutes or more to load. Also when I try to go to a disk drive using start-my computer- files i want to go the whole computer freezes, and response again after few minutes. I want to know why is it happening? Thanks

Hi,

I'm using Team Xtreem S3 120 GB SSD with Win7. The intallation was performed on AHCI mode and drivers and BIOS settings seem to be ok. However I get a poor perfomance. With SATA2 connection, I believe I should get seq speeds around 200-250 MB/s. Here is what I get:

After having rather high hopes for SSD Performance...I'm disappointed.
I'm glad I got a test unit, because if I would've shelled out the cabbage for this, I'd be a little PO'd.

I have an 8300 Quad Core 2.5 Intel with 4GB of RAM running W7 Pro 64 Bit.
Instead of trying to clone the old drive, I did what I thought was right and did a fresh install.

I loaded up MSE, Office 2010 and all Windows Updates.
Did a couple of tweaks (made sure defrag was off, DMA mode on instead of PIO, disabled indexing)

I have all the latest chipset, mobo, video, etc., drivers.

Yes, it boots into Windows to the desktop faster. No doubt.
Yes, it opens up windows faster and programs SOMETIMES as well.

But it multitasks terrible. If I'm download, installing, etc., anything...and try to move program to program, it's slow. To the point I think it's freezing up.

I've read a few of the tweaks here...and I'm missing something I think.

It's an Imation 2.5" M series 64GB drive. I know it's not the Vertex 2...but it has pretty decent specs behind it. Not the best, but it should do everything my SATA platter drive does better...period.

It doesn't.

What should I be looking for? (It shipped with the latest firmware, and trim is turned on...not like that matters since I only installed Win7Pro fresh a few hours ago...)

Hi,

I am having severe performance issues on a Vista SP2 machine, whereby it can take several minutes to start Internet Explorer and then 5 - 10 minutes to load a web page and sometime the page does not even load.

I have run a Virus Scan from McAfee Internet Security and a Malwarebytes Scan, both come up clean. Running the task manager both CPU and memory usage are relatively flat.

I have attached some basic info about the computer / OS. I am not sure what other info to include or where to start looking for the root cause of the issue and am happy to provide additional info if requested.

Run chkdsk, on the hard drive.
Open a command prompt, with elevated privileges, then type chkdsk /r

To get to the command prompt, go to Start > Search > type cmd.exe then right click on the cmd.exe, then choose "Run as Administrator" in the command prompt, type chkdsk /r

let it run, going to take some time to complete, then restart the computer.

If no improvement, go here: SeaTools for DOS | Seagate burn seatools to a CD, boot from the CD run the short, and long tests, look for errors.

If all checks out good, next will be to check your RAM, go here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and get the .iso file, you will need to use a image burning software like The Official ImgBurn Website or some other image burning software.

You will want to test each stick of RAM individualy, if any errors are found you will need to replace the RAM.

I recently bought a second EVGA 2GB GTX 770 SC and have SLI set up, but the performance increase I got was a lot less than expected. I ran my own little benchmark with the first mission of the BF3 campaign on Ultra settings and my average frames per second only increased about 20 from about 90 to about 110. I decided to run the 3DMark Fire Strike Benchmark to check if I am really getting the performance I should and it turns out I'm not. I compared my results to Legit Review's results and my GPU score of barely over 11000 is over 3000 less than theirs on the normal test. On the extreme test, my result of just over 5200 is significantly less than the site's result of 6700. What is going on here? I'm very frustrated. I already tried reinstalling the latest 337.88 driver and chose to clean install but the benchmarks are still yielding the same results.

Hi,

Recently I've been having some problems with my laptop. I've had it for five months now. Basically performance is at quite a poor level, it's very noisy, very hot, and running around 70 processes generally. CPU usage is high and so doing basic things such as browsing the internet is really stressing the laptop out and I'm getting lag. I don't know if this is related to some malware or something else.

I'm on Windows Vista so I have run DSS to get a log. The extra log is attached.
