Sending an html email

Q: Sending an html email

Hi, I think this is possible. I am trying to send an e-mail through gmail that is made up of html. It's a news letter so I want it to show up like a web page in the e-mail, is this possible and how do I do it?

Preferred Solution: Sending an html email

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Sending an html email

Sure, entirely possible to send HTML emails. Most emails probably are HTML vs text only.
When you click to compose an email at the gmail website, if you are in text only,
right below "attach file" it will say...rich formatting. Click that. If you have things
showing like fonts, text size, bullets, align left, align center, align right, etc...then you are
already in HTML (rich formatting). In that case yours should say Plain Text on the
far right. And there is nothing further to do, except setup your "web page" email.

Now, that you understand that, help me to understand why you can't do what you want
to do? Just that you haven't tried it yet?

If you want to have images, they will have to come from the internet. Copy the picture
and paste it where you want it, in your email.

If there is some particular stumbling block, post the specific and I'll try to answer it.

I want to send a little promo to my clients--I'm a photographer--with a few paragraphs of text, some small sample images, and a graphic header and footer. I formatted the content as an HTML page, but I cannot figure out how to send it so that it appears the same way on the receiving end. I've read about using "Insert text from file" in Outlook and changing the MIME type, but I guess I'm not doing it right because I just get HTML code on the other end. Do I need an e-newsletter service to do this, or can't I just do it from Outlook?

I have downloaded an HTML file. When I double click on the file it appears fine. Now I have tried sending it through windows explorer (which opens after double clicking the HTML file) as send - page by emai and link by email it went not as it appeared as html page.

Further, I use Incredimail for sending and receving mail. I am not able to send the page through that as well.

Kindly guide me step by step how do I send the file to another email?

A:Sending an HTML message to other email

You must have an email application that is capable of formatting your email as html prior to sending. You cannot send an "html file" as an email because it is already a file. Try opening the html file and hitting Ctrl+A to select, Ctrl+C to copy. Then paste into the body of an email message. If it doesn't work, your email application is not capable.

I don't know if anyone else has had a problem with the boring-ness of plain text emails. The following is code that works. I'm sure the moderators will delete if it's not a worthwhile post for the forum.
Step 1
Set up your mail as a string with the html code embedded. You can use <b> bold and <OL> ordered lists and <LI> list items e.g.

hardcode = "<p>The IRC Cover page indicates that the policy is due for review. <br> The version of the policy currently being used by the university can be viewed by clicking on the following link. http://put link here! </p> "
hardcode = hardcode & "<p><b><u> Please ignore this message if the Policy is currently under review.</b></u></p>"

Body = line1 & hardcode
Step 2
Put all your text into the HTML body tag (you can use headings as well - I didn't need them)
Body = "<HTML><BODY>" & Body & "</BODY></HTML>"

Step 3
Add the .BodyFormat and .HTMLBody to your outlook call
Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set OutMail = OutApp.CreateItem(0)
On Error Resume Next
With OutMail
.To = emailaddress
.CC = CC
.BCC = ""
.Subject = Subject
.BodyFormat = olFormatHTML '2 'old Format HTML
.HTMLBody = Body
End With
On Error GoTo 0
'MsgBox "Send successful, Thank you " & filepathname & flname &... Read more

I've composed a newsletter in HTML format that I want to send via email. I tested the html file in a couple of online editors and it appears fine. My email client is Outlook Express and when I send it to a couple of test email addresses to make sure it looks OK, it shows up as my coded text instead of how it appears in the online html editors. This is my first attempt with the newsletter and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I use Outlook for email, from Office 2007 Professional because the accounting program and my Palm Pro PDA likes it.

Just recently I have had a couple of complaints that emails with a video attached I have forwarded have been delivered to the addressee in excess of 30 or 40 times.

The latest was last night when one of my sons said he had received it 104 times, and another friend in the USA 99 times, needless to say both aren't happy, the video was a wmv (3mb).

When my son called me a an hour or so later it was still in my outgoing mail box, obviously because it was still sending.

I have run full AV scan using Esset Nod32 which came up clean, so I&#8217;m at a loss where else the problem is or where/what to look for.

Thanks for reading&#8230;..Any clues/help would be appreciated.

Hello helpful people,

K, I have figured out how to insert images into an outgoing Yahoo email by copy/pasting an image off a web site. Great.

Problem is, I can only have one line of text next to my image (it is simply, 'in line' instead of giving me full HTML formatting). How do I get say, 4 lines of text next to my image like I could do in a real html editor?

This leads to the larger question....how can I do real HTML formatting when Composing a Yahoo email?

I have read that if I am NOT using IE, then there is a checkbox which allows you to type in html into the message. But of course I AM using IE.

When I try to paste HTML into the Compose box, the recipient gets it as text...the HTML is not being interpreted as such.

I receive emails from corporations all the time which are clearly 'real' HTML, so I know it can be done, and I know I can receive it properly.

What is the trick?

A:Sending HTML in Yahoo with IE

K, I have figured out how to insert images into an outgoing Yahoo email by copy/pasting an image off a web site. Great.Click to expand...

It may look that way to you but you cannot copy/paste an image from the internet. When you copy an image, all you are getting is the HTML code. In order to have an image inserted into an email, you have to have the image file on your computer. You might say, what is the difference if it shows up? None for you because you use a web based email (Yahoo!). However, to anyone reading your email offline, they will only see a red X. No image. Sending HTML image code does cut down on the size of the email, that could be an advantage - as long as you understand what is actually being sent.

For anyone reading this thread, here is a reference to a previous thread.

Did you try YPOPS?
Once you have control over your emails with Outlook Express or some other client, you can do exactly what you want.

Hi All

Quite often I receive very nice looking e-mails from my webhost and others that are formatted brilliantly and look like an html page. They contain images, text and info in many colours etc and I am wondering how this is done?

I wouldn't wish to send out this type of e-mail as standard, but would like to find out how to create such e-mails.

I have used the stationary feature of Outlook but what I see in these e-mails looks to be significantly more than that. Apologies for the dumb question

I feel really stupid asking about this since I even built my own computer, but here it goes..

I'm trying to send html email with microsoft outlook (using legit office 2k3). I can receive emails with full html, backgrounds, images etc.

When I send html format emails, they come up just the same as rich text. I make sure that it says 'html' at the top when i'm sending it as the type of format, but it doesn't matter - it isn't working.

Even something as basic as (using *'s instead of arrows)

*img src="www.notarealsite.com/test123.jpg"*

no matter what i do, it comes up as normal text. I've searched through countless settings and i don't know what to do now.

A:Outlook and sending html

hummm, well, for one thing the code you have is not what I would expect for an image out on the net somewhere. In my source code, I would expect to see the http:// there, as in:

<img src="http://www.notarealsite.com/test123.jpg">
Another thing... why are you seeing the source code at all, when you are composing an HTML page?
I don't see any (unless I display the source code, that is).
When I compose an HTML page I just see my composition (fonts, colors, lines, pictures, etc.) And then when I send, and subsequently receive it, I still just see the "beautiful" HTML page, not the text (the source) at all.

If I place html code onto the page I am composing, then just that code, that portion, comes through as text.

Send me a private message, if you want, and we can exchange email names, and run some tests back and forth.

If it's unencrypted, you should be able to do it like this:
Tools > internet options > security > highlight 'internet" > press custom level > scroll until you see 'submit nonencrypted form data' > check to see that it's enabled. If it wasn't enabled then you'll probably need to restart your browser after enabling it.

I just created a web page on my system and I just wanted to email this page to a friend. I have a couple of photo's in this page as well. When I send it to my hotmail account & click on the web page I get no pictures (even tho they are included as attachments). I did figure because the code on my desktop had the path to the picture to my directories, so I used the OBJECT command to embed the pic, but still I get no pic. Just curious because I have never gotten this to work so far.

Operating system: Vista
Microsoft 2007. I use Outlook - but my clients often use Lotus, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc. - so this needs to work in as many as possible.

I have spent literrally the last three days trying one thing after another and i believe i have figured my problem out but i dont know how to do it. here is the exact situation:

I need to design HTML email newsletters for my potential client base. I need these to be HTML so that they open automatically in people's emails - we all know that no one opens attachments from unknown senders. I have templates at my disposal as you can find them both online as well as in Microsoft Publisher. However, i am unable to cutomize them with my own images. I understand that the reason for this is because i dont have those images posted online and therefore they are sent as attachments - not as HTML code when they are contained within the newsletter. I do have a website and i have figured that i need to somehow get the images i want to use in my emails - onto my server - so that they are hosted online with their own absolute URL's.

SOOOOOOOO that gets me to my questions - i dont know how to do that. I can upload images onto my server - but my server is protected so those images are not accessible unless actually being used on my web page right? but i dont want them all on the web page - just in the emails. So how do i host these images online, and then once i get them online, how do i find and use their URL's or HT... Read more

I am running Windows 98 with I.E 6 (SP-1) and OE6 as my e-mail system, but this question may apply to general e-mail programs as well:

As most of you know, Outlook Express has HTML tags enabled as the default setting for incoming and outgoing mail. (This is simply text code that enables you to add special features like bolding fonts, underlining text, or putting URL's inside of e-mails where the recipiants of messages can just click on the URL link and it takes them to the site or opens up their default e-mail program to send messages in an e-mail link.)

On my old Netscape Communicator 4.75 if I sent someone an e-mail message who didn't have HTML enabled on their computer you would get text that says:

"Some of the recipients can't recieve HTML mail...do you want to:

a. Send this message in HTML
b. Convert this message to plain text
c. Don't send this message

I had acontact in my old Netscape address book who could not recieve HTML mail (I don't know why.) so I just clicked option #2 when sending her a message....no problems.

Now, OE 6 does not give you the prompt about a recipent not being able to recieve HTML and I sent this person a message in OE 6. Does this mean that she is not going to be able to read my message when she opens her inbox? (There were no special HTML formats in the message other than OE 6's defaults for text, you know)

OE 6 users have an option where you can go to your address book (not sure of exact steps)... Read more

On the email for her, before you send it, click format. Then you can choose to make that particular email text .

Or you could simply experiment by sending her a short typical HTML email and have her write back how it came in. You could even take a screen shot of what it is supposed to look like. That way she will be aware of the differences.

I have been using Win7 64bit for around 2 weeks and previously was on Vista 32bit. Everything is pretty smooth except for Office 2007 Outlook.

As far as it is, I have attempted to forward html emails but failed. Outlook will freeze and the round hourglass cursor will keep turning. Anymore clicking will cause Outlook to show "Not responding" and either it will pop up "Restart Program." or "Close Program".

I have tried leaving it for a few to see if the email goes out. And no, it didn't work too. The email that I tried to send does not appear in the Draft, Outbox or anywhere, even after Outlook restarts. The freeze appears to happen when i click Send button on any html emails that i try to forward. Be it Amazon invoice, edms from hotels or promotional emails from Macy's.

There will be no problem if i'm sending a normal text email and in fact, it sends out really fast too.

I have also repair Outlook, Scanpst on my pst, did a uninstall and reinstall, run in compatibility mode for Winxp SP3, Winvista. None seems to work. I didn't get the problem when i was on Vista.

I googled quite a bit but unfortunately no solutions i can find. Perhaps it's something that i've overlooked and maybe it's something with Win7 on Outlook 2007.

Can someone help?

A:Outlook 2007 hangs on sending html emails in Windows 7

If you go to tools, options, mail format tab - what is your default sending format? I attached a screenshot of my settings which seem to work ok.

The messages that you are forwarding, is the content blocked? That could cause a hang since Outlook would have to download the images etc in order to compose the forwarded html message.

As a test haev you tried composing and HTML message and sending it to yourself, then try forwarding it?

Its an annoying problem I know. But we'll get to the bottom of it.

Im trying to use a script to send a html email to various people. If i send it to a hotmail user and open the email, the email does appear correct, processing the html code. However if you access the same email via Outlook (2003) it comes out showing the code rather than interpreting it.

Ive tried several websites and the they all talk about the headers. I have tried several different bits of code in the headers, all have had no effect. Any advice welcome.

Here is my code

$email = array([email protected]', [email protected]');

foreach ($email as $k => $v) {

$to = $v;
$from = "[email protected]";
$subject = "subject";

$headers = "From: [email protected]\n";
$headers .= "Message-ID: <" . md5(uniqid(time())) . "@mydomain.com>\n";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\n";
$headers .= "Date: ".date("D, d M Y H:i:s") . " UT\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: [email protected]\n";
$headers .= "Return-Path: [email protected]\n";
$headers .= "X-Priority: 3\r\nX-MSmail-Priority: Normal\n";
$headers .= "X-mailer: php/".phpversion()."\n";
$headers .= "X-MimeOLE: Produced By MyDomain\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1\n";

The HTML part of your message should have a text/html content type. You might want to see this example: http://www.zend.com/zend/trick/html-email.php#head1

I am planning to start a weekly newsletter for emailing subscribers. I would like to know how to make an HTML email with everything nicely formatted.

Will this HTML email be compatible with AOL users?

Please help.

A:HTML email for AOL

LOL. You know more about AOL than I ever will!

If you have Outlook Express set up your HTML there. You don't have to really know how to code....but it helps.....for the final touches. Almost anything that works in IE works in OE.

Don't use VBscripts. Don't use Javascripts. Don't use sound files or other Embedded Object Types. They won't run in AOL. At least not up to AOL 8. Don't know anything much about AOL 9 yet.

Hello. I have a web page that I have created and I would like to take that web page and embed it into an eMail. Ideally, I would like to copy and paste my source, but I have no idea where to paste it to. In Outlook, I can insert an image and hyperlinks, but I really need to be able to insert my entire web page with my tables, linked images, etc.

I know this can be done, we've all seen the junk mail that comes to us this way. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Open up Outlook Help and search for Create stationery

It spells it all out for you.

I have just recently changed service providers and now have Outlook Express. When someone sends me an email it looks fine on the screen but when I print, it comes out with <DIV><FONT> face=Arial and all sorts of other stuff among the wording of my received email. In fact a four sentence email can take two pages of paper to print. Is this an HTML issue (not that I know anything about that). Can I configure my emails? This is with all emails not just from a specific person. I have had to copy and paste to notepad to have a short readable email - but it seems odd that i just can't copy the email(with headers) as sen on the screen.
Much appreciated!

A:Email - Is It Html?

You may wish to change OE to showing E-mails as plain text if you are having problems with copying the text easily to another application.

I can't send an email to one of my other emails on my server that I own, it comes back to it's own email, the text says (html), is that correct?

I use outlook 2010, I need help badly on this, please...

A:email in html

If you sent it as HTML, then it should be HTML.

When in a email that you want to send, click on the "Format Text" ribbon. There you should see "Plain Text", click it and now that email will be plain text.

I need to send an html email. Basically, I just want it to be an image when the receiver opens it up. The image is on the web already so all I need to do is include the path in the html body of the email (I guess). I've enable the HTML format already. What I've been trying to get to work is:

All I get in the message though is the text you see above instead of the image. What am I missing?

You didn't put a slash on the last <HTML>. It needs to be </HTML>.

Hi all,

I am now using Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP2 with Window XP. I have a small question. How could I make an option for all my outgoing mails (or both incoming and outgoing mails) to be in HTML type?

I hate the type of Plain Text. Sometimes I receive plain text emails and when I press reply button, my replying email is in plain text type also. Now I wonder how I could change the option of MO 2002 so that when I press reply, then my email is always in HTML type no matter the type of the original mail is in.

Thank you

A:Email type - HTML

That's an option under tools if I remember right. One thing to keep in mind, if you reply to a plain text message to a person who only receives plain text they get all the html tags that go along with the format of html.

I have just produced some HTML email stationery for my company, and I just wondered what would happen if I sent the email to someone using a client which didn't support HTML email? If you only see the code, is there a way to make a text version of the same email appear insted?

Thanks a lot,

A:HTML Email Stationery

The most likely scenerio: the tags get stripped and they get a plain text message. Graphics may or may not arrive. If they do arrive, they will be attached.

Depends on what email they use, I am not familiar with all of them but above has been my experience.

I have a small business and want to reply to emails using an email template, but don't know how to create one.
I can't code, and the online services are either too expensive or are for newsletters.
I want to be able to use them with my own internet browser instead of sending them through an online service.

Can anyone help?
