I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What version of windows are you running?     If you have windows 8.1 or 10, there should be an Ease of Access icon in the lower right (lower left in Windows 8.1) of the login screen, and if you select that icon you can turn on the On Screen Keyboard (OSK.exe), and use your mouse to type in your password.     You should be able to access the On Screen Keyboard in Windows 7 as well by using the icon at the lower left of the login screen. Cheers,

Using a Sony Vaio Laptop, VGN-FE series, running on Windows XP Media Center w/ SP2

I joined to get a little hardware help..
About half the time I use my keyboard, the 'a', 's', 'k', 'b', '.', and '/' key wont operate.

They're not sticking, they just refuse to work. The only thing I can rationalize is a conducting issue, but like I said before: they only work about half the time. Im sure the keyboard doesn't just choose to conduct at times and stop at others.

Hey guys!

I recently got a Casio keyboard, with a new MIDI cable.

I'm a music artist and I'm totally new with this 'keyboard-to-computer-via-MIDI' stuff.

I don't know how to connect my Casio Keyboard to my computer with a MIDI cable. I've mostly been using Mixcraft's music library, but I want to start something new with my new keyboard.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can connect my keyboard to my laptop via MIDI?

I've looked at other forum posts and contacted a few music artists..........they had nothing.

Please help!

Thanks!

Hi there. I'm experiencing problems with a Lenovo Laptop. I cannot log into Windows because the keyboard is not functioning as normal. The 'H' button is operating as a backspace for example and because I cannot see what I'm typing in the password bar, I don't know which keys are what. Only some keys produce characters and when typing other keys the system just beeps. I had this problem yesterday and I fixed it by holding the FN button and F4 or F7, I think it was F7 but now the same combination isn't working. If you could help me it'd be great. Cheers.

I have a Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad, and I spilled water on the arrow keys yesterday. Now only about 10 keys on the entire laptop work, so I was wondering if there was anyway of fixing this without having to go out and buy a new keyboard, or if I should just replace the keyboard entirely? Thanks.

A:Lenovo Laptop Keyboard Not Working

If water was spilled on or in the keyboard theres not much that can be fixed on it. it will have to be replaced and checked out to make sure nothing else got damaged by the water such as the motherboard etc.

Hi! I bought this one 2  days ago and I'm amazed how bad the keyboard is. Just check the video:https://youtu.be/n4oN6H3x2nQThe keyboard actually doesn't match the photos: enter key is weird form and there are two \ keys. Space key sticks depending on which part of it you click. It also makes a weird noise. Definitely not the quality you expect from a premium model. I would actually be happy to return it, but I'm in another country for a while so looks like I'm in trouble. This is the second Yoga I have, but seems that I will never buy a Lenovo again.

Yeah, you see a lot of complaings about those keyboards, they are trying to make them too thin in you ask me. I would return it if you do not like it, even if you have to pay shipping.   The Thinkpad line have much better keyboards, and in my opionion are far more durable too.  Good Luck,

Hello there all, I hope you are having a nice day/night while reading my post  Recently Im having a quite uncomfortable problem with my Lenovo. As the title says, it stops running, to be honest, mostly when playing League of Legends. Very rarely while doing other things, like surfing on the web, perhaps more often when playing other games than League It's hard for me to figure up, why does it happen. My laptot is fairly new (4-5 months), and it has not been damaged or awashed by water And there we go to the second problem, which is connecting with WiFi. It just randomly does not show any will to connect with web spots. Sometimes, it works just fine. I installed WiFi/Router drivers, and it hasn't got any better The third, and the last problem is, that my headphones sometimes don't run. Rather randomly, when I plug them in, or when I turn on the computer while they are already plugged If anyone can help me with any of these problems above, I will be very grateful My operating system is Windows 10

So I've been asked to give my Mom a hand with her laptop. It's a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, though the website seems to drop or parenthesize the IdeaPad part of that, running a 64 bit version of Windows 8.1

Two keys aren't working, the F12/increase screen brightness key and the PrintScreen key. (This is why we just discovered it, no idea when the error cropped up.) I've found workarounds for all of the things the keys do - brightness can be adjusted in Power Options, and the F12 and PrintScreen functions can both be duplicated using the on screen keyboard function. But they're kinda annoying and cumbersome, and the error may be symptomatic of a larger problem.

I've tried rebooting the computer and cleaning the keyboard thus far, to no avail (though it is using one of these stupid new chiclet keyboard styles, which makes popping off keys and cleaning the actually functional part of the keyboard impossible through the normal, convenient method I've used in the past.)

The keyboard was replaced relatively recently, and I will be getting in touch with the gentleman who handled that when his store is open tomorrow. I'll also be checking with the official tech support people at Lenovo, but I find this and other fora are usually much better at cutting through that ploddingly systematic approach that big tech support divisions use and finding the real problem in a reasonable timeframe. If either of these resources pays off, I'll post the solution here as well.

A:Dead keys on Keyboard - Lenovo laptop

You can head over to Keyboard Tester and test each key. If the keyboard is failing, chances are there are more than just one dead key. If all keys are registering a press, but they do not perform a function they are supposed to, such as brightness control, it could be a drivers/software issue. You mentioned the keyboard being a recent replacement. What happened to the first (original) keyboard? Did the laptop suffer a liquid spillage? The problem history could give us perspective.

Hi OMARDAKAR ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Using the part number for your keyboard on your search would allow you to find compatible and available keyboard in your location faster . You may use the parts lookup page to get it (just keep your serial number confidential) that would show your Machine model number and likewise FRU part number for your keyboard.

You can try it match it from the FRU keyboard part number list from the hardware manual (page100-103).

Update us with the Machine model number if needed .
Hope this help answer your query.

To reactivate my keyboard/touchpad again I have to hibernate the reopen the computer.

Hi everyone, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago and I'm loving it so far. But every so often the keyboard would just stop working and when I try shutting it off, it would go through the entire shutting off process and the screen goes black but all the lights and fan would still be on. I am then forced to hold the power button down to force it off. When I restart the computer instead, it would take me to the blue screen where it would say "Windows has ran into an unexpected error" then the screen would turn black again and everything else would be on. Anyone have any idea or solution to what's going on? Thanks in advnace!

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

I own a Toshiba Satellite which runs a Windows XP Home Edition SP2. As well, I have an HP tower running a Windows XP Pro SP2. On both computers I use a physical French keyboard. Often I change it into a US keyboard on the language icon of the task bar of the Windows operating system for my word processing needs. The fun is lately I can't swap back to French on the keyboards of both computers. When I click on "French" of the language icon, I actually see "Fr" appear. But on typing in my text editor (Notepad, Microsoft Word 2007 for the Home Edition and 2003 for the Professional), I realise that the keyboard has not changed. It remains U.S. The condition is permanent now.
Since I live and work in a bilingual country, I permanently have to swap between French and US keyboards depending on the language of the text I am working on. Can this problem be a result of constant swapping between the two languages? A defect with the operating systems? I had tried restoring windows to no avail. What solution for me?

Do these keys you listed work in Word? A hard disk swap wouldn't interfere with your keyboard working unless the keyboard was heavily reliant on drivers.

Hi all,

I have my mums laptop, a Dell Latitude 1720. The problem she is having is that the laptop will randomly enter data into fields, navigate menu's or scroll up and down all by itself. All of which could just be random keystrokes, however she was concerned that she observed seemingly coherent strings of text being entered into a search bar in IE.

The laptop has norton antivirus installed and has passed through the system several times and turned up nothing. I have also ran through the machine with Avir and AVG just to be sure, both turn up clean. I have ran spybot and adaware and used system mechanic to; clean up the system drive, repair 2 hard drive errors and 11 security vulnerabilities.

To my dismay following this the laptop decided it would be fun to only allow me use of the number 4 (which it turned into the euro sign) and the letter "a" (which was complete with a french accent like this - ā). After a minute or so without me doing anything the keyboard returned to normal state and has been fine since for 45 minutes or so.

Someone suggested running Hijackthis, I however do not understand the breakdown in the report, I have attached a copy and wondered if someone could look it over and see if there is anything glaringly obvious in it which should not be there for me please.

I am just trying to find out if the problem is software or hardware related and am at a loss of how to check.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Following the instructions I removed the keyboard but all the keys are part of one membrane and I don’t want to go any further in case I damage the membrane

What are my options? Is the membrane easily removed and will I be able to fix it?

Should I order a new keyboard from Dell or try to get a used one?

Hi, just got hold of a NB100 netbook, apart from the keyboard being TINY! am having problems getting key presses to register, if you stab the keys down they work, however normally touch typing intermittantly registers.

over 4 people have tried in the office today and all have had the same issue with keys not registering. if you lightly press the key and feel when the button is depressed over and over it randomly misses!

Ive search these forums and nobody has had any issues, could it just be faulty?

Hi, I have a Lenovo B590 and the keryboard has recently started acting up when I press the number keys above the letter keys. For example: I press 5 but t5 is what is shown. I press 6 but y6 is shown. This also happens if I: type t, I get t5, and if I type y I get y6. BUT, this does not happen for ALL number keys above the letters. 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 0 seem to be okay. If I press - I get [-, if I press = I get ]=, if I press ` I get ` followed by a tabspace. (The same for all the reverses.) I have tried removing number lock (not that it was on), I have tried pressing fn with number key but nothing happens. I have tried resetting the keyboard as per this link https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/B590-keyboard-not-working/m-p/3482581/h... I have tried removing and reseating the keyboard cables but the problem remains. I have tried updating the drivers through Device Manager, and also tried removing the keyboard through Device Manager then restarting. Still the problem remains. I have tried a USB keyboard and that works fine. Am I missing something? What is left to try other than a different keyboard? Thanks in advance for the help.

My HP m9457c desk top with OEM wireless keyboard and mouse has been driving me nuts. During "normal" operation the keyboard has five (5) keys which when individually selected launch one of the following: Club hp, IE home page, mail, IE default Search page, or HP Help program. They still function when I select them...However, starting approximately 30-90 days ago, they started selecting themselves w/o my asking for them. Usually it is the HP help program that launches. Not as often comes the IE Search ( Google) pop up. This occurs whether or not I'm on the internet. Could be just playing a game or typing a letter in Word. Replaced batteries in keyboard and mouse-no fix. Not 100% certain the problem is the wireless. Avast reports no virus present. MY OS: Win Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. Need help please.

A:Faulty Wireless Keyboard

You may be having troubles with your device drivers, firmware, and/or software. Go to Device Manager by going to start / search box and type device manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device for a red x, yellow ! or white ?. These identify devices with problems (probably drivers, but also conflicts or something else). Click on each for further details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get drivers (and you should do so for at least the keyboard and the wireless adapter (not just drivers but firmware and software as well, if applicable) and any others you have time to do - they may help in ways beyond just resolving this problem), do so from the computer vendor or device manufacturer (NOT from Microsoft Updates). Proceed as follows to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them through Device Manager as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I have a Microsoft keyboard that is about a year old. It is a wireless desktop elite keyboard. I have a problem with some of the keys, which are 'delete', the numbers 3, 6, 9, '. (del)' on the NumPad and F3.

Basically what happens is this. When I press any of the above keys some period of time after pressing another key, it doesn't work. Quite bizarre. But if I press one of these keys immediately after pressing another key, it works. Even if I hold the key down immediately after pressing another key, it will still work. It is just after I let the key go and not touch anything for a moment, they stop working again.

This is the case for all programs, including Firefox, Word, cmd, etc. And I don't think there is anything wrong with the keyboard itself, as the keys still 'electronically' work. I also changed the batteries and nothing changed. I assumed it was a driver problem and reinstalled the driver (also rebooted the machine), again nothing changed.

So far I assume I have some virus and I'm about to run a virus scan, but I just wanted to post to see if anyone has ideas on what I could do.

Hi all

I am completely stumped as my keyboard has gone haywire and am quite annoyed i cant fix it

Am running windows 7 on toshiba satellite pro laptop and was wondering if its a software or perhaps hardware issue.

Here is what is happening:

- Caps lock light doesnt stay on anymore but it flashes when i press it. It does still work properly though
- Left SHIFT key still works but when i press it.....it also creates this symbol ~ at the same time within UK keyboard. If i change to US keyboard then it enters the PIPE symbol.
- The ~ key above the tab key actually does this ?
- And the pipe key which is above the Enter key types this: #7

Does anyone have any idea on how i can sort this as its quite frustrating! Thanks for any ideas.

cheers

Hi there asklink, Welcome to Seven Forums.

A quick search around on Google finds that a lot of people are having the same issue or issues with the keyboard.

I was looking on the toshiba forums and they suggest you perform a BIOS update to fix this issue.

Quote:
If you should experience the above issue on your notebook, please perform a BIOS Update in order to rectify the problem.

Please download and install the latest BIOS Update package for your model from the Toshiba driver download page: TOSHIBA PC BIOS Support Country Selector

I have been having an absolutely MISERABLE expereince dealing with Lenovo with this computer.  About 2 weeks ago, the left hinge on my pc notebook began sticking and with routine opening and closing, which has forced the separation of the casing from the screen.  It was under waranty until 12/28/2016.  I placed my first call on 12/27/2016 to get the process going and have gotten nothing but a runaround with each call to India I make.  Each time, I get a guarantee that I will get a call back within "3 business days" to no avail.  I am told that my case is escalated and I should expect an email from a "case manager" and should get an email within 24 hours, and NOTHING.  I have taken out an extended warratny with Lenovo based off the suggestion of my call on 12/27/16 in order to get in home assistance, and nobody want to aknowledge anything to help with this case.  Any help that anyone can provide to help expedite this process, whether it be a strategy to get someone in America to actually call me back, another number beyond the one on the website to spreak to someone "higher up," etc.  I am beyond frustrated with this case and am about done with Lenovo...

I recently (ie, <1 month ago) purchased a Lenovo G580 laptop.  Now, after very light use (sits on my desk, plugged in 90% of the time) the DC input has stopped working.  I originally noticed that a faint high-pitched beeping sound was emitting from my charger when I plugged it into my laptop and into the wall.  I initially thought that it was the charger, but tried a new one and it still did not work.  The laptop was working whilst the input was broken, but after the battery now died I cannot charge or power on the laptop, as there's no way to get power to it. What is my best option going forward?  I use this machine quite often for school, and I had a very hard time getting it delivered initially.  I have the basic 1 year warranty on it now. Should I just take it to a place near me for repairs?  <1 month of use seems to indicate a faulty piece of equipment, although certainly not DOA.  Can I get a refund?  Credit?  Repair?  I certainly don't want to wait a long time without a computer due to their mistake.  I think that a credit would be optimal, but I doubt that that's going to happen... I must say that I'm disappointed with their service and quality.  They've really slid downhill. Any help or advice is appreciated.

hi clappboard,

Sorry to hear about your trouble but from the looks of it, you have two options:.

1. Send the unit to lenovo for warranty service (recommended)
2. Have a local computer repair store check the unit (most probably the problem is either the power connector / DC-IN cable (part #: 90200457) or the motherboard.

The reason why I recommended to send the unit directly to Lenovo is because the turn around time is quicker plus the service center have the necessary parts for the repair. Lenovo support phone list here.

Hope this helps.

I have recently purchased a new blue flexible keyboard (US Layout with Kanji) anyway the left ctrl key (it only has one ctrl key) appears to have stopped working. It defintily worked until i changed the keyboard layout from uk to us in regional and language options. i'm pretty sure that isnt the issue though, because im on a completely different pc (with xp, uk layout) right now and the ctrl key still doesnt work.

Has anyone got any suggestions or ideas? a keyboard tester of some variety perhaps?
