Preferred Solution: How do I export my Gmail.com accounts data to Thunderbird MBOX?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have three gmail accounts that I access in Thunderbird. They all receive emails perfectly, but the issue is when I reply or send email from these accounts. (I've listed my SMTP settings after each).

Account One: [email protected] (this is a work email, and it sends and receives perfectly) SMTP.gmail.com

Account Two: [email protected] (this sends and receives perfectly) sMtp.gmail.com

Account Three: [email protected] (this receives perfectly, but when I reply it shows as being sent by [email protected]) smtp.gmail.com

Any idea how I can fix this? I want to get it set up correctly on my computer and then I will do the same on my iPhone.

Thanks in advance!

(By the way, I'm running Vista, Thunderbird 3.1.12

A:Solved: SMTP issue with multiple gmail accounts in Thunderbird

You'll need to set up an SMTP server for each account.
It sounds like you're sending using the personal accounts server.
Tools>Accounts>Outgoing server(SMTP).
On the right click Add, type a unique description for the business account, the username for the business account (which should be different from your personal) and check the "use password".
Once the server is set, click the Business account in the left pane.
In the right pane, set the "Outgoing Server" drop list to the newly created SMTP server and click OK.
When you send a mail from that account the first time, you should be asked for the username and password. Check the box to have it remembered.
On the compose window you'll have a drop down on the From line that will list what account you wish to send the message from. It should automatically be the account you're sending from, but if you use the global inbox instead of separate account inboxes, you may have to select it.

I've tried locating my mbox files in Mozilla Thunderbird. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. I located the profile folder under defaults in the Thunderbird folder under Program files. But the profile folder is empty! Where are my Thunderbird messages in my XP Home Edition files??????

My objective is to convert the mbox files to eml files so I can move all Thunderbird files to Outlook Express. I don't really want to change my e-mail program, but I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and can't share pictures via e-mail except by using Outlook Express.

Is there anyone out there who can figure this all out so I don't have to change from Thunderbird to Outlook Express in the first place????

Hi guys

I'm my company's unofficial tech guy, and I would appreciate your input on archiving old email.

We use gmail for all of our company's email. What I'm planning to do is just tell everyone to use Google's takeout service to download an Mbox file with 1 years worth of emails. I'll ask them to store it on their own computer and I'll make a copy of that file on an external hard drive.

I've imported one years worth of emails into thunderbird to test it and it seems to work fine - attachments and all - but I can't shake the thought that it all seems a bit too easy. As far as I can see I can view all the old emails perfectly.

Basically I just wanted to pick the brains of people who might be more experienced - is this a sound way to store old emails, rather than having it take up space on our gmail servers? As far as your guys experience goes, is there any potential pitfall or something I should be aware of?

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

For exporting IncrediMail IMM files to Thunderbird, you can use IncrediMail Converter program that can easily export entire IMM files into Thunderbird in one conversion processing. It works with entire Windows OS and save entire attachments, email properties. I recommend you stick with TBird. Moving the Address Book is as easy as exporting and importing. The Email is the problem. If you still had XP you could export to Outlook Express, then to Outlook. For Windows 7 Pro, you could install OE in XP mode. For 7 home you'd have to install Virtual PC to do it. There are 3rd party apps. that say they can do it directly to Outlook without using OE, so maybe someone else has experienced one that works. Before trying anything, make sure you've backed up your TBird Contacts and EMail.

I have a user who has been mandated to switch to our corporate Exchange server and Microsoft Oulook. I was able to convert the address book over with no problems, but I'm struggling with the mail. Is there a way to export messages from Thunderbird (1.0.5) to Outlook 2000? If not, we're going to have him upgraded to Outlook 2003 in the next week or so (hopefully), and I'm hoping it will make the transition that much easier.

From what I've read, Thunderbird doesn't have a true "export" function, that it leaves it up to the importing application. However, I have found no way to tell Outlook where to look for the mail files (which in Thunderbird have "no extension").

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have two problems:

1.
I have a lot of scanning data, all date and time stamped. All the scans show different status of shipped packages (all shipments have unique ID#, but there are multiple scans on route for all of them to track the packages). I want to find all the packages, for which there was "misdirected" scan, then for all of them, show the scan before. So, the end result would be all the scans that show for each package where it was misdirected (the terminal# of the scan before the misdirect scan).

2.
I want to automate this: run 5 queries every two hours between 8am and 10pm, copy and paste all results into Excel to specified areas (e.g. first query results to A1, second to A5000, third to A10000, etc. or onto different tabs), save as .csv to a specific folder, then send it as attachment to a given e-mail address. Even partial solution can be good.
I only know macros (somewhat), not as much VBA, so I tried that with the TransferSpreadsheet command, but can't get it work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When we got our internet turned back on recently, those email addresses  were still no longer valid but Thunderbird continued to try and connect.  After a couple days I got tired of that and went into accounts and removed those two accounts.
Unfortunately, somewhere around 200 emails just disappeared instantly when I did that.  Also, I have since closed and reopened Thunderbird, not sure if that makes matters worse.
I'm just wondering now if there's ANY way to get any of those email messages back?

Do you have backup of the computer?
If not, then you might be outta luck.
You can look on the hard drive where Thunderbird stores the messages and see if you can find the folder that would contain the email messages for those accounts:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
If the appropriate folder is not there, then your only option might be a data recovery program.

After upgrading to windows 10 I added my outlook.com account to "mail" in windows 10. I have now installed Thunderbird and like that program much better and have imported all my files and folders and contacts.
Question: Can I now remove my outlook.com account from "mail" in windows 10 ? Or will that wipe all info I imported to and using with Thunderbird? And second, how to I remove that account in mail, I don't see that option listed anywhere. Thank in advance for any help or suggestions.

I do not use the Mail app.

From what I understand, if you are using your Microsoft Account to sign in, you cannot delete the email account.
You will need to sign in on a local account in order to do that.

That's what I was told.

I have things messed up in Thunderbird after adding 2 new accounts.

Originally when I set up Thunderbird, I set up my main account in the Local folder. I had a number of folders, filters, etc. in the Local Folder. Just recently I wanted to move that account into its own separate account, called Account545. At the same time I set up another account using a different server and that one is working fine. But Account545 isn't working right. It seems to still be tied into my Local Folders somehow, so the mail is coming into both Account545 and the local folder. I have looked at all the properties (especially the global inbox - changed it to Account545 Inbox) to see if I have it set up correctly and I am pretty sure I do. I just don't get what is going on.

So I thought it would be good to start over, and create my accounts fresh, along with a new install of Thunderbird. But I don't want to lose my emails, folders or Lightening Calendar. I am not sure if I keep my entire profile, if the problems will just carry over.

How should I go about doing a new install, but still keeping my info.

Thanks for the help!
Kristi

A:Thunderbird Accounts got messed up...

Copy your profile to a safe place.

You can then uninstall Thunderbird, remove the Thunderbird folder, install the new Thunderbird, set up your accounts, and then copy from your old/saved profile what you want into the new.

All your email messages will be in the Mail and/or ImapMail folder(s). Your address book is the abook.mab file. I don't know which file or folder will have the calendar info.

In the various Mail and ImapMail folders it's probably best to delete all the .msf files. Thunderbird will recreate them. Your actual messages are in the files that do not have an extension.

Not sure how to title this...

I use Thunderbird for e-mail. I have four e-mail accounts that I receive mail from daily. Three different providers (Netzero, gmail, hughesnet) I use only one out going account. Sometimes if I don't pay attention I send out mail from the wrong account i.e. [email protected], rather than BBBB @ gmail. Question: How can I set up Thunderbird to continue to automatically retrieve e-mail but NOT sent it out from an account I don't want to send from. How can I make it idiot proof?

A:Thunderbird Multiple Accounts

i have not tried this - as i like to use all the different accounts to send from

but if you goto
tools
account settings
and then go down to the
SMTP list
you can remove the account for SMTP from there

BUT first make a note of all the SMTP accounts and settings for servers , ports and security etc - so you can at least add them back if required
or you could take a screen shot of each

and just leave the one you want as default - default does not work on my system - it defaults to reply from the account it was received from

Now i have not tried and not sure how thunderbird will react - and if the from will be blank - rather than use the default

you can make a backup of thunderbird using http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ i use this a lot - usually to migrate uses to new PCs and from outlook etc
To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

I am making the transfer from Outlook to Thunderbird. Having a learning curve issue, but I'm making progress.

I have six email accounts coming into Thunderbird. Right now, there are three accounts that I can access and use in Thunderbird, the other three aren't "there". The folders are there, but they are continuously (past 4-5 hours) showing a downloading icon when I click on the Inbox folder.

It was working earlier today but I didn't like the way I had folders set up. I was intending to switch from mail folders to virtual folders. I THINK the problem is because I made a change in the account settings. On the Synchronization & Storage tab, I clicked on the Advanced tab and unchecked all of the Download checks next to folders.

I have since gone back in and re-checked them. I have closed and re-opened TBird and Firefox. I've Googled and searched and I'm frustrated, so hoping someone here will have a suggestion that will help.

Thanks!

Per the advice of this Forum, I started using Thunderbird last fall. It's great! Much better than Outlook, and I love it. But today I added two new addresses to my account, and I can't get T-Bird to receive e-mail sent to those addresses. I called Earthlink, and they helped me set up the new addresses in Outlook (which receives the mail fine). But they don't "support" T-bird, and he couldn't help me. I used all the same settings in setting up the new addresses in T-bird, but to no avail (my original address works fine in T-bird). I went to the Mozilla help site, and I think I did everything right per their instructions. I must be missing something.

Any ideas? Pretty frustrating.

Another comment: last summer my laptop was close to getting thrown in the trash, I had so many viruses, pop-ups, hijacks, etc. This Forum totally rescued my machine. It now works like a million bucks. With no problems. Thanks to the TSG people!!!

hi to all

had this problem with thunderbird since i installed it and tried to set up multiple accounts. My main account works and has always done so, any extra account i set up either imap or pop it will not let me log on - constantly refuses.

Now my wife needs to set up a new account for herself and wanted to use Outlook express so we tried setting up an account, the same is happening - it will not let us log on. the passwords are correct, the ports are not blocked i have checked that, this is the message i get from outlook.

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server.
Your User Name was rejected.
Account: 'XXXXXXXXXX', Server: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR too many arguments,
only 1 arguments allowed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91"

Now i googled the error and virus software seems to be associated with this problem - i used to have norton proffessional but uninstalled and deleted it all a year ago - i now use AVG. But if this was the problem why would it only happen with secondary accounts and not my main one????

i am going crazy as i need a few different email accounts not just the extra wifes one, and it just wont happen - i use 1and1 as my host and homecall as my isp.

please if you have any ideas please reply.

thanks in advance.

A:thunderbird multiple accounts dont work

If the error message seems to be tied to AV software as the Google search suggests, it perhaps wouldn't hurt to turn it off for a while (but not the firewall) to see if it makes a difference. I can't see it would be that either but best to eliminate it anyway. Also, since you have the difficulty with two e-mail clients, could it be something to do with your ISP? It might be worth a call to ask if there's a problem at their end

Hi, I use Thunderbird Email (T.B.). I checked for updates & it says I'm up to date. I have an old work email account listed on top of my Accounts list in the Left Column of the T.B. page. Then I have several different Gmail Accounts under that account. The last account is the "Local Folders". I was goofing around adding separate new accounts to my T.B. email system. I realized I'd really like to organize the way the list stacks up so the most often checked account can be on top then the 2nd most below it etc.. So the list NOW when all the (+) are closed looks like this:-Old Work Acct-Gmail 1-Gmail 3-Gmail 2-Local Folders------------------- I would like to make it look like this:-Gmail 1-Gmail 2-Gmail 3-Old Work Acct-Local Folders.-------------------- Is there a way to rearrange the list of accounts. It seems like it just adds the new account below the account you made before. I'd like to not have to delete the Gmail accounts & start over if I can just move them around. Plus the "Old Work Acct" I want to move lower on the list simply can not be deleted. It has over 7 years worth of emails!! I tried to select the folder & drag 1 above the other but nothing happened. I did a google search & didn't find much either. I was hoping someone on this site know an easy answer to this problem. Thanks so much everyone!!

I hope it's okay to ask about this here, as I have done various Google searches and have not had any success in figuring this out.

I'm a new Windows 7 user. I used to use Outlook Express for email and now I think I'd prefer to use Thunderbird rather than Windows Live Mail. However, I'm having trouble setting up Thunderbird to work as Outlook Express once did.

I have a catch-all pop3 address that is really the only one whose received e-mails I want to download onto my machine at home. However, I want to be able to send e-mails from my work address from my home machine, too, so on Outlook Express, I added my work account and simply unchecked "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing". And that way, nothing from my work account ever got downloaded onto my computer.

In setting up Thunderbird, I tried to do the same thing. First I added my home account, and it was working fine. Then I added my work account and unchecked "Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every 10 minutes" in Server Settings. And in Synchronization & Storage, I unchecked "Keep messages for this account on this computer" and set it only to "Synchronize the most recent 1 day" (I tried to go to 0 days but it wouldn't let me) and checked "Don't download messages larger than 1 kb". However, every time I open Thunderbird, it pops up a box asking for my work address's passwo... Read more

Account settings
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Account_settings

Not sure if you can get here if your not with comcast cable.
http://help.comcast.net/
If you can then type thunderbird in the search and your get "How to verify Thunderbird settings" and "How do I setup Thunderbird for E-mail?"
They have pictures that show you step by step.
Your just need to fill in the "Incoming Server:" and "Outgoing Server:" with what aol and bellsouth say to use.

Wait I found a link.

So the list NOW when all the (+) are closed looks like this:
-Old Work Acct
-Gmail 1
-Gmail 3
-Gmail 2
-Local Folders
-------------------
I would like to make it look like this:
-Gmail 1
-Gmail 2
-Gmail 3
-Old Work Acct
-Local Folders.
--------------------

Is there a way to rearrange the list of accounts.

Hi,

I want to know how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.

So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.

In another thread, our very own hewee asked if I would write up a tutorial on creating multiple e-mail accounts in Mozilla Thunderbird. So, I created one for Mozilla Thunderbird 5. You can access it here:

http://www.tomdkat.com/techguy/mozilla-thunderbird-5-tutorial/mozilla-thunderbird-5-tutorial.html

The process should apply to Mozilla Thunderbird 3.x as well.

This tutorial isn't intended to be definitive or complete, so post any questions you might have here and we can hopefully get them answered.

Hope you find this tutorial of use.

Peace...

We've migrated from Maximizer to an Electronic Medical Records Program.
I'm hope in exporting the appointment data from Maximizer to a CSV file so that I can import into our EMR.
Is anyone aware of how to do that.

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers,
Frank
