Trying to Map A Windows 10 Share From A Windows XP SP3 Machine: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

Q: Trying to Map A Windows 10 Share From A Windows XP SP3 Machine: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I have a legacy Windows XP x86 machine that I am trying to migrate. To do that I have mapped a number of shares on a Windows 10 x64 machine. Most of them map normally. However, when I try to map one of them I get:
Using a command line:
L:\>NET USE I: \\NYW10-0016\Install /PERSISTENT:YES
System error 1130 has occurred.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
Using mapping from File Explorer:
Windows Explorer
\\NYW10-0016\Install is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
The share shows up in my network places and I have been able to map it before to an XP machine.
The big difference between this share and others that I can map is that the share is a USB drive. Again, please note that in the past I was able to map it. Has something changed in Windows 10 to prevent mapping to a USB drive?

Preferred Solution: Trying to Map A Windows 10 Share From A Windows XP SP3 Machine: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ESET NOD32 version 3 Antivirus interferes with network operation. With NOD32 installed on this Dell Latitude D520 laptop with Windows XP SP3 and 1 Gig of RAM, I get the following error message when attempting to access its shared resources:

Not enough server storage is available to process this command

I have gradually increased the IRPStackSize in increments of 3 at a time up to 50 in the Windows Registry, which is the maximum allowed value, with no change in result. I have checked that PagedPoolSize is set to zero. I have scanned for viruses and come up clean. Neither MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpy nor HijackThis find any threat.

Disabling NOD32 produces no change in result.

Uninstalling NOD32 is the only thing that solves the problem and I can even then back down IRPStackSize to 14 and the network still works.

I have posted this problem to ESET; but, I haven't gotten a reply and it has now been a full three days since Monday about 9:00 PM when I sent it. It is now 11:45 PM, Thursday. (They said they would respond within 24 hours.) So, here I am.

One of our user is trying to save a file on a network-shared folder in our fileserver. When he does, he sometimes get an "Not enough server storage is available to process this command." error and would have to restart the computer to fix this issue.

I read from other support sites and from MS Knowledge base that this is caused by a low IRPStacksize on the server and I would have to increase the value by editing the registry.

But we have hundreds of other users who has never encountered this error.

Are there any other solution besides modifying the registry?

A:Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

Try backing up your registry key then apply the recommended solution from Microsoft. You can always revert it if you experience further problems.

After rebooting, I went to another computer on my LAN and the problem was still there.

I upgraded office from a peer to peer network with Win 98 to a server network with Win 2000 and all worked fine until I used the Windows Update to automatically download service packs. After I downloaded the service packs, I had a problem with one computer being unable to access other networked computers or the internet via our cable router.

Other computers can access problem computer and internet, but not vice versa. The error message on problem computer reads "not enough server storage available to process this command". I have already removed Norton Systemworks and still have the problem. Further, I cannot re-install the windows update service packs on the problem computer because the problem computer cannot access the internet via the cable router.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any advice.

Ran XP networking wizard between Dell 4400 (desktop) and Dell 8200 (laptop). Seemed to work, I can get it to recognize each of the hard drives on both of the computers but a BUSlink USB 2.0 external hard drive connected to the Dell 4400 gives me a "not enough server storage is available to process this command" when I try to access it or map to it on the laptop.

Any ideas on what to try for this issue? I did have this set-up working with the USB drive approximately 6 months ago, but had to do a reformat on the desktop and have just tried to get the network connection working again. Also, I have installed Win XP Service Pack 1 recently

I have a windows 7 box. Just updated to SP1. I have a .NET app that copys files from XP to windows 7 Share as a mapped drive. Logged in as an admin. It copies for a couple minutes then I get

System.IO.IOException: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

Once this happens I can't access the mapped share any more in windows explorer. Just keep getting "Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

Happened a few times now so I open my code up in debugger.

last time this happened I trapped the error and was in Noticed this

Anybody know what could be causing the problem?

On the windows 7 Box I see this in event viewer

The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations.

Google turns this up.
Windows 7 Nonpaged Pool Srv Error 2017 | alan.lamielle.net

So I guess if I need to transfer files to my 7 box I have to configure as a file server. I have no intention of using this as a file server it's just that it is a new box and I need to transfer alot of files to it. Hope this helps others as well.

For some reason unknown to me and that I cannot associate with anything at all, I am now getting this error when attempting to access the shared resources on only one of the six systems on my network:

“Not enough server storage is available to process this command"

I found this page on the 'net and scores of others echoing the same instructions to make registry edits on all other systems--except the inaccessible one; but, it just does not make sense to me that there is something wrong on all other systems simultaneously. To me, it seems like they're saying, "Okay, so you have one broken machine; so go fix all the machines that are not broken and leave the broken one as it is.". It makes more sense to me that something has gone wrong on the one inacessible machine and that it is the one that needs fixing.

The machine with inaccessible resources is running Windows 2000 Pro as well as two other systems. Another system is running Windows XP Pr0 and another, Windows Vista Ultimate and the result is the same on all systems.

Anyone have any suggestions?

A:“Not enough server storage is available to process this command"

That key is generally correct, but there's a bit more for a complete patch.

Try this.

- Start, Run, REGEDIT
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
- Edit the IRPStackSize
- Set it to a DWORD value of 15 (or more, valid range 11-50), I use 20 here.
- NOTE: If IRPStackSize doesn't exist, create a new DWORD entry for it
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
- Set the PagedPoolSize to 0
- Exit REGEDIT and reboot

After my hard drive has slown down all of a sudden i am trying to transfer most of my stuff onto my laptop.
However, ever since my main drive C has slown down all of a sudden, unaffected by spyware, I am having trouble with the network. It worked before my hard drive became slow. Now the server storage message comes up when ever my laptop tries to access the shared folders. The laptops which could access it like for printing and stuff wouldnt work anymore.

The wierd thing is that on my main computer when you go to network connections > view workgroup computers> select the shared folder, the message still comes up even though it is not accessing another laptop etc. Its fine when you just view the actual shared folder. But if you go to the view workgroup computers and select the shared folders you are actually sharing the message still comes up. (Main computer) e.g. //blah blah(computer name)/shareddocs, main computer double clicks on shared docs the server storage comes up.

I have googled for this and have the lanmanserver>IRCStackSize changed from 1-12 (had to create a DWORD in regedit) still did not solve the problem.
Alse the pagepoolsize in regedit was already 0.

These did not solve the problem.

Is there a fix for this?
Making the network work again would be of great help.

Got a problem. All of a sudden I get this message whenever I try to access one of my computer's shared folders (Computer's nickname is "Green") from any of my other computers (4 others) using WinXP Pro. No problems with any of the others talking to each other. No problem with Green reaching out to other computers on the network and looking at their shared folders. Same router, same switch, nothing new that I know of, just suddenly stopped allowing other computers access and adds that comment in the dialog box. Any thoughts? Thanks.

i dont have a clue what that message meant! i already tried upgrading to vista SP2 and also tried installing KB893357, but that turned out to be another problem because after i click KB893357 installer, an error message appears "not enough storage is available to process this command"

I have spent about 6 hours searching this error and have yet to find an answer that applies directly to why I am getting this message. Most of the answers are directed towards networks to which I am not on. This is my home computer connected directly to the internet via a modem. My girlfriend works from home via this computer I need help ASAP. I am probably going to be a bit long winded here with my issue in the hopes that I can get it solved. So, I apologize in advance.

Here is how all my problems started...

I assume that I had a virus but am not sure. While trying to download an online poker program I got the "blue screen of death" (said something like "stopping everything so no harm can be done..blah blah blah...memory dump"). The computer would constanly reboot on its own before entering into windows. So I assumed I had a virus and I would have to reinstall windows (destructive reformat/fresh install). Which I have done twice before and not had a problem. So I get out my recovery discs and reformat. After installing all SP3 updates and Nortons antivirus updates, I tried to load the drivers for my video card. This is where the problem occurs. I have tried using both the driver disc that came with my nvidia 8800GT and letting the install wizard find the drivers automatically. Trying both ways still gives me the error "not enough storage is available to process this command" in the install wizard. This error ALSO happens when I try to update ... Read more

To make it very clear: this has nothing to do with servers or networking or whatsoever. It's a Microsoft update from here and gives the above error message during installation. I am desperate to make this work, and am desperate to the extent of willing to get this darned update installed at all costs. On a more personal perspective, creating an update that actually works is part of what I'm paying Microsoft so much for.

ive got 2 computers hooked up to a router by Ethernet sharing an internet connection, the internet connection works fine for both computers. i would like to share documents also between the computers

one is a windows xp 32
one is a windows 7 64

ive set up many networks in the past with a bunch of xp machines without any trouble but now i am having trouble
my first step was on the windows 7 machine, i went to control panel -> network and sharing center -> setup a connection or network -> set up a new network

this is where i believe i am making a mistake of some kind, it seems that the windows 7 machine is assuming that i want to set up the network wirelessly, when it is connected to the router via Ethernet. it simply brings me to a screen that says choose the wireless router or access point you want to configure, and hangs there with a greyed out next button

everything seems to be going fine on the xp machine, i created a new network called "sharebear", told it that the computer connects through a residential gateway, enabled file and printer sharing, rebooted the machine, and confirmed that there was a new folder in the network places for shared documents

i went back to the windows 7 machine where it was still hanging, rebooted it, looked for the new network in network and sharing center and it wasn't there, i tried again to "set up a new network" on the windows 7 machine with the same hanging screen

what am i doing wrong?

A:connecting 1 windows 7 machine and 1 windows xp machine to share files

Make sure that both computers are in the same 'Workgroup' then follow these instructions

Also, make sure both computer's Anti-virus and Firewalls are set to allow sharing.

I've got a strange problem dealing with a 2012 R2 share.  We have a lab with 30 Windows 7 Enterprise workstations.  They all have the same desktop via a GPO applied folder redirection to a share on the above mentioned 2012 R2 server.  All
but 4 of them can connect and pull the desktop with the appropriate shortcuts, network folders, etc.

So the share permissions have no explicit denies.  In an effort to resolve this issue I've added both Everyone and Authenticated Users with Read permissions on top of the appropriate AD Group object that already had Read permissions and of
course SYSTEM and Domain Admins with Full Control.  The NTFS permissions have of course CREATOR OWNER, SYSTEM, and Domain Admins with Full Control.  The appropriate AD Group also has Read permissions.  No explicit NTFS denies either.

Using either the same account that belongs to the appropriate AD Group or my Domain Admin account (which doesn't have the redirected desktop) I can login to all workstations and all but the above mentioned four get the folder redirected desktop.
When I authenticate with my DA account and try to connect to the share on those four computers I get the same error the user gets:

There are no "default share drives" in Windows 7. You have to enable file and printer sharing and share whatever folders are to be shared, including the "C drive" if that's what you want.

A:Is it possible to Share a Windows 10 machine on a WorkGroup

When you define your shares, add the Everyone account with whatever access level you want. Read, Read\Execute or Full Control then Share it.

For instance, to make the C: drive available to other network computers:

Add Everyone

Open This PC
Right click on C: and select Properties
Click on the Security tab
Click the Edit button under Group or user names box
Click Add
In the Enter object names to select box, type everyone then click Check Names.
You should see Everyone
Click OKSelect Everyone then check the Permissions for Everyone boxes in the Allow column that you want to allow
Click OK and OK.

Share drive or folder:

Click on the Sharing tab
Click on Advanced Sharing
Click hare this folder
Give the share a name. I use names like Lenovo_C, Toshiba_C or HP_C, something that makes it easy for me to know what shares I'm looking at when viewing over the network.

Turn off password protected sharing:

Right click on Network and select Properties.
Click on Change advanced sharing settings at left.
Click the down arrow next to All Networks at the bottom.
Select Turn off password protected sharing.
Click the Save changes button.

You can't really add a single user to the permissions list but have you tried adding "Everyone" to the permissions list on the Windows 7 machine? If that doesn't work then most likely your A/V software is blocking sharing functionality which is very typical.

This assumes that both of those machines are in the same workgroup and that you have run the Network set up Wizard on the XP machine.

I have tried to diable the firewall, change the network profile to Home, switch on the file discovery and so on but without success.

BTW the windows server is probably 2003.

Thank you.

A:Windows server share can't be maped in Windows 7.

Pls. try this recommendation:

Please change ?Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated?.
If your Windows 7 system is Windows 7 Home Premium, you may need to configure it via Registry.
1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.
2. Find the following branch.

3. Create a DWORD key under Lsa and set:
Name: LmCompatibilityLevel
Value: 1
4. Restart.

After spending a good 2 hours trying to make them talk to each other, I got the computers to show up on each others screens, but now when I try to access the other computers shared documents folder I get that error message.

And when the other computer trys to access my shared docs folder it gets "You might not have permission.. The network path was not found".

My computer is running Vista Home Premium
The other computer is running XP SP2

Many thanks for your help and understanding,

A:"Not enough storage space is available to process this command"

To address the "Not enough storage space is available to process this command" issue, try this.

- Start, Run, REGEDIT
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
- Edit the IRPStackSize
- Set it to a DWORD value of 15 (or more, valid range 11-50)
- NOTE: If IRPStackSize doesn't exist, create a new DWORD entry for it
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
- Set the PagedPoolSize to 0
- Exit REGEDIT and reboot
Then lets run through the following steps.

Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

I think I have the command services virus on my machine. Spybot said after a scan and fixup that it cannot fix the command services virus as it may be in memory and will re-scan and attempt to fix on startup. It was unable to do so on startup. Also, I get repeated
popups from SPYWAREGUARD that I have on my machine with a message
"WARNING! A BHO (Browser Help Object) has been added!" I then choose the button "Remove the BHO" But I keep getting those message.

Here is the HJT log for my machine.

Appreciate your help!

I would appreciate your advice on how to weed out unnecessary startup stuff.
What information do you need me to capture from the machine?

A:Windows 8 machine taking up to 5 minutes to finish boot process

Open msconfig and on the General tab choose "selective startup" (uncheck all three items) and reboot. Does the problem still occur? If not, start adding items back to msconfig one or two at a time, rebooting after each change, until the problem reappears and you'll have identified the offending process. This is clearly a time consuming procedure, but it is the best way to determine if some process loading with the system is the cause of your problem.
After you've isolated the cause, do not use msconfig to permanently disable the process. Instead, if it is a service go to START - RUN and type: services.msc (then press enter) and disable the service OR, if it a program, you can download & run a simple app such as Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/startup_cpl.html) to enable, disable, or otherwise manage startup programs.

I have lost my installation DVDs and the OS installation DVD for Windows Storage Server 2008 64 Bit Basic that came with the Dell PowerVault NX200. I have the Service tag with me. Can some one from Dell support provide me an email where I can request the iso files for the Dell PowerVault NX200 NAS server.

As with Windows XP, this OS is end of life - you won't be able to get it from Dell.

Hi Guys,

I have setup a small network using windows 2003 server. My interent provider is bellsouth. I have the server connected to linksys router which then connects to Netopia modem. What do I have to do so that I can access the internet from the client machines. I googled a lot and found 2 things that I can use ICS or NAT. I cannot use ICS because I'm using domain controllers, DHCP etc. and I tried using NAT but still the client machines could not access the web. Also I started having problems with users loggin in. I'm going crazy, please someone point me in the right direction.

A:Share Internet Connection Using Windows 2003 Server

Why not allow the router to handle the DHCP server function and just put the server on the network as a fixed IP address? I've configured several networks that way, works just fine.

In my home network I have several computers. A Kubuntu Linux server, a windows 10 laptop and a window 8.1 desktop.
Under Kubuntu I have setup several Samba shares for things like videos/photos/music, etc. From the Kubuntu side everything seems to be fine, I can see all three computers on my network and can quite happily access all computers too. Same goes for the Win 8.1 desktop, I can see the Kubuntu shares and my Windows 10 laptop no problem.
However, on my Windows 10 laptop I can only see the Windwos 8.1 desktop. I can't even see the Kubuntu server name at all, nevermind access the shares. I have rebooted the Kubuntu machine and stopped and started Samba on numerous occasions. I have rebooted my windows 10 laptop. I have rebooted routers and modems...all to no avail. No matter what I do I simply cannot see the Kubuntu server under the Network section of windows explorer

Now, if I do a \\ in the windows explorer bar then I can access it, but this is really only a temporary solution as some windows apps need to see the machine name under network in order to access the shared drives. But it does prove that the Kubuntu server is accessible from the windows machine.

Since the Windows 8.1 desktop is not having this issue then I have to assume it's an issue related to Windows 10.

I'm hoping other people have experienced this issue and have a fix for it.

I am on OS Build: 10586.17, version 1511.

I want to connect my laptop to my windows computer only to access files.

I have a command line only install of linux so don't want to have to install X just to rdp.

I would like to ssh in. Is this the simplest way? I am only going to be in the other room of my apartment so do I still need to make a server for that?

I want to connect by wifi though rather than cat5.

So is making windows an ssh server the best way to go? In terms of security is making it a server any more of a risk than just being online normally?

Hello all,

Over the weekend it seems that one of my Windows 7 computers here where I work lost connectivity with our file server.

Windows 7 Home Premium
Pentium Dual Core

Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64
Intel Core 2 Duo

It never had issues connecting with the share before now. Now every time I try to connect it to the share, it tells me that the password for the account is invalid. As the account for the workstation had no encrypted or protected files on the server, I just went and reset the password to make sure it hadnt gotten changed some how. This however did not fix the issue. The computer is able to access the internet and see that the server indeed exists on the network, but for what ever reason is not able to access the share any longer.

Any ideas?
