Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is eith

Q: Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is eith

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again and the problem just won't fix!!!

I'm now considering just backing up the apps and data files, reformatting the HDD and reinstalling XP unless someone has a fix.

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is eith

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, perkinshershel, and welcome to the forums.
Have you performed any sort of autotuning disabling on your machine, or else 'tweaked' the TCP/IP settings?

FWIW, Vista doesn't do well with tweaked TCP/IP settings like XP does - it has an autotuning feature that dynamically changes the values for various settings n the TCP/IP stack as needed, thereby making the need for tweaked TCP/IP settings a thing of the past.

Just started using IE8, and getting the nag on many pages (while I am already on that page) saying IE cannot open this internet site....and if hit the return arrow to go back a page , and then reclick to the new page, it works. Whats up with that ? Am I missing some file or is this just another glitch ?
Didn't happen with IE7, and may just go back to it.

A:internet explorer cannot open the internet site...

Did you try other sites ? That is a quick check to see if the problem is your browser. And it would need to be a site that uses similar setup. So if the page that doesn;'t display has lots of javascript, go to another one that has lots of javascript, etc.

On one of my sites, sometimes one particular page wouldn't display. I had to re-edit it, upload, it works fine now. So it may not be your browser. It could be that site.

Hello;

Receive the following error message using Explorer 7 & vista premium 32-bit.....
...."internet explorer can't open internet site.....operation aborted..."

The internet is loaded with fixes but I have yet to find one that works. Seems to be fairly common,
as well as something that just started a few months ago with all my pcs regardless of operating system.
Usually associated with both explorer 7 & 8. Does not occur on all pages, so the problem is intermitant
and according to page content.

Any help would be appreciated- thank you!

Try Firefox, http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ it's a much better browser and it's likely to not have the same problem. If you want this problem fixed you need to elaborate on how it "kicks out my computer"? because i don't get you.

A:internet explorer cant open a site, aborts opertaion!

You may want to try checking and making sure your privacy and security settings aren't set too high. To do this, go to tools>internet options>privacy tab then make sure it isn't set any higher than medium, in fact you might want to drag the slider all the way down just to test it, then over to security and do the same thing. Then click on restricted sites, then the sites button and make sure it's not in the list. After you've done this, check to see if it works. If it still doesn't I'd recommend going back to the general tab and click delete under browsing history, then delete files, delete cookies, and delete history. After that, get back to internet options and click on the content tab, then click clear ssl state and restart internet explorer afterwards. If this doesn't work, post back again with exactly what version of internet explorer you're using and word for word what the error says.

I hope I'm on the right thread as I think this is security related but I'm not experienced enough to know.
I tried to put a screen shot here but it failed.
Anyway, this gets confusing to me.

Going to a website the site does open but as soon as it does, a dialog box appears on top of it that says;
Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site. Operation Aborted.
But the site is right there in full view. So, when I close the dialog box, the website also closes.
I thought the website was under attack by a denial of service thing. ??
So I went to another site and it opened with no problem BUT, when I clicked onto a link from within that other site, once again I got the dialog box opening saying Operation Aborted.
All that makes me now think it's my computer under some kind of attack but I haven't a clue from where.
I have AV running (NOD32 from eset) I have run scans for AV and syyware. I have aSquared running anti-spy in background. I use Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster.
Have also used Windows own Live One Care to run an AV scan.
None of the above find anything wrong on my pc.

as a sidenote. pc is very sluggish and takes forever to open many web pages and I have not been able to open Wiredness at all since late last night. But since some pages open properly I put it down to possible problems with Wiredness site.

Hope I ccan get some help. Thank You Kindly.

I came across this site http://www.dogagent.com
On the front page it says "The pages are designed only to work in Internet Explorer 5.0 or later".

Can anyone explain why the site wouldn't work with another browser?

Ideas welcomed!

Hello All, I have 2 problems 1)I'm running AVG and is detecting a few Trojan Horse's. A few names are:
Trojan horse Java/Downloaded.CB
Trojan horse Generic21.AWHL
Virus indentified Exploit.Java

I also notice I get AVG popping some threats being blocked like exploits etc... Hopefully someone can help me out and figure out what's going on with my computer. Thanks all

2) I notice my C Drive will start to drop in space every time I click on it, I haven't downloaded anything that could cause my space to drop. I have ran error-checking and I'm not sure if it fixed since is not happening right now, but it does at random time
Edit: Will be checking back to see what I need to do to get started. I'm running XP and Opera, sometimes i use IE 8 and Mozilla.

Hello Nyeh,

This is what I suggest you do first.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot, Ad-aware and HijackThis. All are free and available bellow.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:
Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Before restart, Empty Recycle Bin.

Restart your computer.

Delete the HijackThis you have now. It needs updated.

I know I have a virus again Or have NOT fully rid myself of one I thought I had eliminated weeks ago. I noticed that I was having trouble accessing some web sites when I was logged on as ME. It appeared to be shut me out alphbetically. As I could not access Burchperch.blogspot.com and then Calendars.com. I AM able to function if I log on as the administrator but I am worried that this thing will disable this "side" as well. A friend suggested that something has wormed itself into my Registry... I am not savvy enough to know what to do about that. He said to run The Non Pro version of Glary Utilities or The Online Safety Scanner. I am did run Glary and it found 506 errors but one has to BUY their product to completely rid myself of the errors. ALSO I have Secunia installed and it continues to warn me that I have programs that are insecure or at end-of life, but when I click on "Solution", it will not connect so I do not know what to do to correct the problems. .... so here I am again. A:internet explorer freezes on some site need help

Hi defkickjam

Did you build the system, or did someone build it for you? If someone built it for you, and you are experiencing freezes within two weeks, you may want to contact the builder.

If you built this yourself ---

1) Have a look in the EventViewer logs to see if any errors or warnings coincide with the system unresponsiveness. (EventViewer is in the Administrative Tools in Control Panel).
2) Thoroughly scan for malware -- if you have run the PC for any extended period without the firewall or antivirus enabled, malware could be causing the trouble.
3) Try using a different browser (Firefox is fairly good) & see if the problem exists using all browsers, or just one.
4) If you are currently logging into Vista as a "limited" user, try logging on as a user with administrative rights.
5) Have you changed any of the UAC settings recently? If so, try moving them back to their default settings. A security message might be trying to display, & Vista is hanging while waiting for a reply.

Best of luck

Hello
My Internet Explorer is not loading one particular site but another browser is.  The site in question was once a part of Kaspersky's Smart Money list and is a bank.  It has been deleted and that software was recently upgraded to a newer product (Total Security).  I do not know if the a/v is the issue or not.  What I do know is that when I try to load the web page, the browser comes back VERY quickly and states that the address is wrong or my connection to the Internet is down.  Neither is true, of course.

I need some assistance to trouble shoot and try to find out a way to fix this.

System is a HP ENVY, Windows 8.1 x64, IE 11. All MS updates are current.
Thanks

Looking for some advice: I am creating a website and need to test the site using IE 6. Does anyone know of a place that I can test my site using IE 6 browser. I currently have IE 7 installed, but when I view my site using IE6 the 3 column template does not fit on the home page.

I don't want to run IE6 on my computer or both versions of IE... Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

A:Internet Explorer 6 Test Site

Do you have a spare computer that you could install IE 6 on and open the website using that. Even better create a virtual machine on your computer then install Windows XP evaluation on it and open the site using your virtual machine.

Microsoft have a free tool to make and run virtual machines called Microsoft Virtual PC.

At first I could get to MSN via internet explorer then I could not.
I can get to most internet but many pages won't load including microsoft, windows update, sony, etc.

Any Ideas why this has occurred?

Hello,

Well I will try to be descriptive as possible in the issues and how they came to be. Additionally, I have followed all steps in the "pre-post" with the exception of Updating Windows. The reason being, I cannot go to windows update through mozilla and if I open internet explorer ... my computer will be bombarded.

The Issue:

This took some time for him to come clean, but my son evidentally got a game online and didn't have a registration key. He says he tried to find one online and went to a page for serials, clicked on the link and then all this happened.

Unfortunately, being scared that he might've messed up his father's computer , he just walked away and allowed whatever was happening to run its course. The result is repetitive and at this point I am quite lost on what to do.

When I came home from work, I found my computer with all kinds of popups, error messages, etc going and additionally a task manager blocker so I couldnt get to ctrl alt del. I shut down, rebooted in safe mode and ran spy sweeper (my default engine) and then adaware.

There were alot of results, the list I do have if needed. Based on the "severity" indicator ... the top 10 programs were pretty severe. Quarantined and deleted (with system restore off). I should note here that I was told that there was a virus running in the memory (that warning is no longer occurring with the anti-virus/spyware/etc.

After I restarted I got two blocked access dialogs, but ... Read more

After repairing my computer by deleting Malware or Trojan with BleepingComputer (www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic389668.html), during the following days I noticed that ONLY at our favorite site (www.cyberpresse.ca) certain parts move as if in a tremor. The main page which contains the titles of all the articles, is ok. But when I click on a detailed article that's when the tremors start. The detailed article contains several boxes for related articles and those boxes move up and down with certain lines of the article that are situated near the bottom of the boxes. This doesn't happen with other sites. I checked the same site with our neighbor computer. The fault is in my computer. Can u help me ? Thank you !

A:Pages jolt at one site in Internet Explorer

I found the answer to my problem. When I click on a detailed article, there is an icon, mostly on top of a box, "F recommended" (F recommender) that causes the tremor. It seems that it is a Facebook problem that they are trying to resolve. I switched off "Compatibility view" in TOOLS of Internet Explorer. Now it moves only once when the icon "F recommended" comes on. Another solution, is to switch from Internet Explorer 8 to Internet Explorer 9.

Please help. I cannot access any web site that requires a login, which I guess means any secure site. I get the "page cannot be displayed" page, and have tried all of the options they provide at the bottom with no success. Resetting the security level, deleting files and cookies, and ensuring 128-bit security have all failed. Anyone that has an idea, please post, my PC is pretty much useless to me otherwise. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
I am struggling to solve the problem encountered by two active directory users when the browser was upgraded to IE11 : when they go one specific page of the IE windows starts flashing.
Those two users have the problem regarless of the computer they are logged on from.
IE was uninstalled/reinstalled, the settings reset.
I would like to know if any one has an idea on where to look on the infrastructure side, as this is cleary not a client issue.
Many thanks in advance for your suggestiong and time.
Alex

For example, when I clicked on the link above, Download TSG SysInfo, I get this popup: "SysInfo.exe couldn't be downloaded". I tried to download Adobe Reader and got the same thing. I cannot open a pdf file from an email message. I have tried many solutions from many internet sites, but none worked. I reset IE to default setting, messed around with manage add-ons and other settings, but no luck. I ran full scan with Microsoft security essentials and malware, no threats detected. disabled windows firewall, didn't help. I can surf the internet ok, but sometimes get the pop-up, internet explorer has stopped working. I would ditch IE and use google chrome but can't download it. the problem seems to be with IE.
My computer is a dell i660, intel core i5-3330 with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, about 2 years old and works great otherwise.
any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks krob28
PS this is my first post so I probably missed some things.
