Solved: Random Window Switching - touchpad?

Q: Solved: Random Window Switching - touchpad?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, about 2 years old. I use an external USB wireless mouse, and have the touchpad disabled. I am running Windows 7 32 bit.

My issue is that even with the touchpad disabled, it seems like it's still active. If I rest my hands when typing, suddenly I switch to another open window. Very aggravating when doing email.

Is there some way to *really* disable the touchpad? Can I uninstall it? Or will it just auto-detect itself when I restart?

Second, I am wondering if this is related to an upgrade of the driver. I can't remember if it was doing this before I updated the driver for the Synaptics touchpad or not. To downgrade the driver, do I just use the device manager or is it best to uninstall it, and then install the previous version?

Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey everyone,
I have windows 8 pro-64 bit on a Lenovo Thinkpad e430 with i7-3632, 8gb ram, 500 gb 7200 rpm HDD. NOT touchscreen.
So, my problem is this random glitch that sometimes when I touch the trackpad( which has windows 8 support) the windows will switch. for example: I will have chrome open and Ill touch the trackpad with one or 2 fingers on the left edge, but not in the side bar, and the window will change to graffiti radio, which i just closed by pressing the windows button. What is causing this? Its driving me nuts!!
Thanks

Hello kingme, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It sounds like the edge swipes feature of the trackpad that can be used to open app Switcher like that. You could use the method in the tutorial below to disable edge swipes to stop this.

Hope this helps,

This installation of Windows XP home is very new and anti-virus and firewall protection has been active and up to date so I don't expect that is the cause.

what happens:

In the midst of typing on a document, email, or even twice whilst I'm typing this post, a background window suddenly takes over as the active window. I wondered if this was some sort of sloppy keyboard technique causing a keyboard shortcut to activate, but it happens to other users on the same computer, and doesn't occur on our other computer.

It can even occur when no typing or mouse activity is occuring, or during mouse-only activity. I have wondered if it some sort of "rogue" mouse trigger at work, as this computer is also prone to "wandering mouse pointer" where the mouse pointer temporarily mis-behaves and moves of its own accord, or in very different motions to the movement of the mouse itself.

Any ideas?

I have looked everywhere for a fix to this problem and can't seem to find it anywhere...

When I have multiple applications/programs running and my mouse leaves one window, that window self minimizes. In XP I actually got to decide when I wanted to minimize or change windows. Windows 8 apparently does it for me...AND IT JUST DRIVES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE!

Example: I have two Windows Explorer windows open so I can manually move files. When a dialog box pops up to give me the status of the files being moved, if my mouse does not remain on this box it just disappears into the background.

Example 2: When I run my password manager program. When it pops up for me to enter my password, if my mouse is not on it, it just disappears into the background. Also when it prompts me for which password/account/user name to use on a site, I have to click on an option in basically less than a second or the entire window disappears into the background. Absolutely maddening!

Not sure I have explained this very well, but hopefully someone understands and has a solution to this one. I really like Windows 8, but would love it if this mother of all Windows 8 annoyances for me) was no more.

Thanks for your time and knowledge in advance,

David Lueck

A:Active Window Switching

You may be getting mouse gesture swipe behavior. Press Winkey-q then arrow down to setting and type "edge" (without the quote) in the search box. One of those two may be the culprit.

To help finding the mouse pointer. press Winkey-x then pree 'p' for control Panel. Click Mouse settings. In the mouse pointer Tab check to show mouse cursor when pressing Control key. It actually circles the position when you release the Control key. I like to use it as my Laptop looks a bit dim outdoors.

Very often when I have focus on an app that has more than one window open, and then change focus to another app (always using the task bar) another window for the first app appears over the one that I had focused. This has caused a lot of cussing lately, because I've been doing these copy and paste operations, wherein I paste to the wrong window, without realizing it, which does real damage. What can I do about that?

A:Window changes precedence when switching apps

From what I gather, the loss is due to the original app having priority in the processing queue and still working and when it 'finishes' it gets displayed as the first priority.

Bottom line - slow down, let the first app do its' thing then proceeed..

Now, you might get free of that issue if using multiple core or HT cpu by setting affinity for 1 app to core 1 and another app to core 2, like that.

Recently my computer's been switching itself off as if the power's been cut. AVG and AdAware aren't picking up anything. I've managed to isolate 2 instances that seem to trigger it...

1. Running Spybot. It gets somewhere between 13,000 and 17,000 on the bot check and the computer cuts out. AV-Gold was the last checkpoint I remember it hanging on.

2. Running Football Manager 2006. It wasn't doing it in the first place, but recently I've gone back to playing it and every time I try the computer eventually switches off.

I just recently ran the updater for Windows (I don't usually do automatic updates) and also updated my HP software for my printer. I'm not sure if these are the cause of the problem or not, but the problem is that whenever I run a full window application, such as a game, I randomly get switched to the desktop and there's a blank program on the Task Bar that appears then disappears in a second. It happens every 10minutes or so and it's becoming seriously annoying. I also notice the blank program at the beginning of Windows starting up. I ran several virus scans with Ad-ware and Spybot, as well as an online virus scanner. I have HiJackThis if you'd like to see my log file. Also whenever I check the Task Manager with Ctrl-Alt-Delete I notice new applications running in the background, I checked online if any are virus's and they all seem to be part of Windows. I'm assuming they are from the recent updates I ran.

Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Okay... This is getting pretty frustrating. I can't multitask like before.

Windows/programs/ don't come to the front when I click on their icons in the taskbar.

Ex: I have Chrome, WordPad and File Explorer all on my taskbar. I click on File Explorer and it comes to the front. Then I click on Chrome and it comes to the front. Then I click on WordPad and it doesn't. It just sits there. I click it again... nothing. Ok, let me go back to File Explorer. Click. Nothing. Ok... so let's try hovering over the WordPad icon and the preview shows. I click on it. Nothing. Chrome is still in the front.

I've attached a video link of my example and frustration.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpfISxGGLZE

I have to minimize the program in the front and keep on minimizing through the programs in the order to get to the one I want. This is super inefficient. Before updating to Windows 10, I could just click on the icon and the program would come to the front, no questions asked.

PLEASE HELP!! I'm not computer techy or anything...

Hi, My issue is a difficult one to explain but I shall try my best. For about the past month now I have had 3 main real issues and no matter what I have tried so far nothing has worked: Issue 1: Windows task will randomly switch or flash upon another application. To explain I could be on chrome and my desktop would flash up on screen, sometimes it will completely switch me across to the desktop. This happens very frequently. It also stops me from being able to select other applications on my task bar which are open. For example being on chrome and I am trying to open a already open word, it will not come to the top.  Issue 2: I cannot select file of type: . When selecting say a file extension .png in the file of type box, when I click the arrow for all extensions the box closes as soon as it opens. This again happens with any program. issue 3: I constantly have non responding programs but they only don't respond for usually under a second. It again is just a flashing not responding (I know the program is though), usually this happens 3-4 times a second the flashing not responding. This once again happens randomly, however I can get it to do it by trying to quickly select a file of type and managing too. It will then spam not responding along the top and the opaque white screen appears. I would greatly appreciate any help offered. Here is a previous article on issue 1 but it did not solve it for me http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/545... Read more

You will see a window similar to the one below.

When the Elevated Command Prompt opens type in sfc /scannow (please note the space between sfc and /scannow), then press Enter.

If the scan finds no integrity  problems in the first portion of the scan it should stop, to be sure that the scan has stopped wait five minutes, then type in exit and press Enter to stop the scan.

If it does find integrity problems the scan will continue.  This will take a while, please have patience and allow it finish.

When the scan is finished please post the log of this scan.

To find sfc /scannow log, reopen the Elevated Command Prompt using the Windows key and the X key method outlined in the instructions above.

Hi everyone, New to the forums.

Everything was fine when I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 until upgraded to latest nVidia driver for my 8500GT - the problem is that randomly every 10 to 40 minutes (varies greatly) there is an error sound and my monitor goes to power saving mode. If I then press the "source" button and switch to analog (both analog and DVI are connected to one monitor) then I can see whats going on but the resolution is all wrong. and it keeps switching back and forth between the two at random intervals - very annoying as you can imagine.
*I have tried rolling back the driver - same problem.
*I have tried completely removing the 8500GT from the device manager, restarting, and reinstalling it. Letting windows choose the most appropriate driver - Same problem occurs.

any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Good Evening,I really need some help now. I have an Acer Aspire 6920G with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I haave been having random freezing, restarts and crashes. Laptop will not start first time when powering up and will freeze/crash. Usually it will start OK after that and then maybe sometime when using it will crash and I have to restart.

Not sure what else I can tell you, please let me know if there is anything else.

I have attached zipped file for SF Diagnostics, I hope this helps and someone can help me?

Simon.

A:Random Freeze, PC crash when waking up / Switching on.

well to be honest; a number of things can cause freezes and crashes. one thing is; for the crashes coming out of sleep mode; you probably should check the acer site for a possible bios update which may correct that issue. It is also possible that malfunctioning ram is a possible cause. To check the ram; shut the system down; take all of the ram sticks out then put them back in one at a time and see if the system responds accordingly. If you get a freeze/crash with a certain number of sticks of ram in; then the problem is probably that ram slot on the board and or the ram stick itself that has gone bad. Try both of these things and see if either works. If there is no bios update for the system then just proceed with checking the ram and we can go from there.

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop that has issues. Sometimes the touchpad works, and sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed when it doesn't work, the icon in the tray has disappeared or never booted up to begin with. Sometimes it boots up and sometimes it just doesn't even boot up to the tray at all. And at other times, it does.
(Along with this, maybe it's just a coincidence, but I've been working on this for days and days but when the touchpad doesn't work, the keyboard acts up too!) This might have nothing to do with it at all.

I've done a complete reformat of the hard drive, installed Win XP Professional, reinstalled drivers over and over. Been to the Dell website and have all the newest drivers.
When I reinstall the touchpad drivers, it does work once again, but this seems to be short lived.
The laptop is 4 years old...seems strong otherwise, can handle multiple tasks fairly well, has a dual core installed.
I can't figure it out.
Can anyone help?

Thank you!!
Pam

I have a laptop with Windows 8.  I always had an annoying issue with it-- whenever I swiped the touchpad to the right, it would deselect my active window.  It wouldn't bring up the charms bar, it wouldn't bring up my previous action.  It would just "lolnope, this window is turned off now".  The taskbar of the window would go faded as if I had clicked off-window.  As you can imagine, this is especially annoying when playing things like MineCraft; it would act as though I had pressed escape.  I have all but abandoned this game due to this.  I have to carefully move my finger from the very center of the touchpad, in a clear and obvious arcing motion before it wouldn't deactivate the window, and sometimes that doesn't even help.  And it's only to the right.

I had managed to turn it off, but after installing "Assassin's Creed III" for PC, it started happening again.  It's a Dell touchpad.  I have deactivated gestures in the Dell touchpad menu as well as having disabled the Charms menu popup and edge swiping/scrolling in both the Dell touchpad menu AND in the Win 8 system menu, yet the problem persists.  I have no idea why it keeps changing, or what it was I changed the first time to make it stop doing it.  Any ideas how I can fix this?  It's severely annoying.

I allow the Task Manager to End the program on its own. I get this response: This program is not responding, To return to Windows and check the status of the program, click cancel....to end the program now, click End Now. I have hit cancel and tried to look up in Task Manager why this message is coming up, but I can't find it in the Task Manager under Applications and Processes. Also, I went to Control Panel - Mouse, but nothing happens when I click on it. Mouse is not responding. I have to press End Now to shut down my laptop. Hope there is a simple solution. The last thing I download was Turbo note (digital Sticky notes) and Norton Anti-virus. This message has been around for about 2 weeks now. Thanks for any advice you can give me! Again, the touchpad works just fine, but I get an error message when I go to shut down my computer and the Mouse Icon is not responding on the Control Panel.

A:Touchpad Object Helper Window

The best and easiest fix would be to use Windows System Restore to return your system state to a date that precedes the two week period since the anomaly began.

start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.

It will not affect any data you entered since but you will have to redo all updates (which may be a good thing because there was a Symantec Update that caused problems for some users that has been corrected now and may have even been the cause of your problem)

If that doesn't work, uninstall "Sticky Note" and see if that corrects the problem. If not, delete and reinstall the Norton Update.

Lat us know.

Well, I've finally hit the brick wall with this latest barrage of crashes and BSODs. When I wake up or return from anything over a half hour or so, my computer is almost always attempting to reboot from a crash, quite unsuccessfully. When I switch from speakers to headphones, there's a very strong chance I'll BSOD within minutes. And, just for fun, I'll get a random crash from time to time when browsing the ol' internet or something similarly mundane. The BSOD from idle doesn't show a code, but the audio BSOD seemed to direct me to a driver conflict. I'm no expert, by any means, so I thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I friend built this rig for me, and it was working fine up until I had to replace the last hard-drive. Now, it has a mind of it's own. I tried updating all my drivers after reading another thread about a similar issue. I also tried deleting and re-downloading a few drivers that seemed to be giving people with similar issues some grief. So far, nothing is sticking.

A:BSODs when idle, when switching audio output, and random others

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Hello,

I have an Asus Eee 1015PEM running Windows 8. Today the keyboard started switching (or not typing) certain letters.
For instance, in the middle row: a=2, s=4, d=e, f=(nothing), g=t, h=(nothing), j=(nothing), l=l
It doesn't seem to be an issue with NumLK (I've tried every permutation of Fn + NumLK with Alt/Ctrl/Shift....and those aren't the substitutions that would have been seen with NumLK).

Recently I was struck with some potential adware and I removed it with adw cleaner and scans with Malwarebytes and my anti-virus.

Ever since I've noticed a dead zone on 1/4th of my screen which will stick to a single tab until I switch tabs in a browser or minimize a program. I've tried alt tabbing to see if there's a funny program running but there doesn't seem to be anything.

Does anyone know what this might possibly be?

In response to opera: There isn't really much to show it's like my laptop randomly doesn't recognize my mouse is on that side of the screen(it does however show the mouse icon) so when I right click nothing happens and when I hover over something it won't even respond.

I upgraded my Asus K53U laptop to windows 8 and ran the refresh utilities to remove bloatware because there was an error message about missing files. the refresh cleared that up but also disabled the multi-finger gestures for the touchpad. I loved that feature!

I have downloaded the drivers for this laptop from the Asus website but they won't install.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Kim

UPDATE: Ok, I figured it out. There are no Windows 8 drivers. I had to install Windows 7 64 bit drivers. And not the Synaptics drivers that everyone says to try. My laptop touchpad is Elan something. Once I searched the Asus website for Windows 7 drivers I found them.

I love my touchpad with Windows 8! It's almost like having a touch screen. Sort of. :-)

Having a problem with some kind of internet explorer window opening at random. It never loads and I've attached a picture for you all to see what I'm talking about. Also, at one point the computer completely froze up, I had to restart the computer, and it never loaded past the "Starting windows 7" screen. Whenever I would turn it off, turn it on, it would go to automatically "repair" itself. Despite the repairs, I still get this random IE page. And yes, I am using firefox. I've also tried a virus scan but it doesn't really come up with any results. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I have a strange issue with a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ71VN Notebook. Every time the Wireless switch is turned to the "on" position, the right speaker makes random noise. Turning the wireless to off makes the sound go away. Here is what I have done so far:

- sound driver newly installed
- Audio daughterboard replaced
- Speakers replaced
- Wireless card replaced

Even after all of these pieces of hardware have been replaced, the issue still remains. The speaker consistently makes a short scratching noise after the wireless switch is turned to the "on" position. I had the idea that the wireless card may be interfering with the speakers, but even replacing the wireless card made no difference. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this ghostly issue?

A:Random Sound coming from right speaker when switching wireless switch

Wi-Fi is a known potential cause of noise in audio. If you browse the Sound section of the forum you will find many posts about noise, popping, crackling, etc.

Run the DPC Latency Checker and see what that shows, both with the wi-fi on and off.
I suspect with wi-fi on you will see spikes.

For even further, in depth, Latency diagnosis, run the Resplendence Latency Monitor.

I purchased the HP K201na laptop and have upgraded to Windows 10. The problem is that the touchpad driver has a bug in Windows 10.   The default option is 'Enable reverse scrolling direction' and when you  UN-TICK it, it works for your current session, however after rebooting your machine, it reverts back to being ticked.Additionally, if you put the shortcut in the notification area in the bottom right, then reboot, it disappears from here too. It seems like the driver needs updating as this is extremely frustrating.

I'm having the same issue with HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 10. Touchpad reverts to reverse scroll after each start. Takes about 20 clicks to change it each time I re-start. And the layout of Two-Finger Scrolling window is messed up. Seems buggy.

Hi! I use Firefox for everything but one thing I need IE for work. All of a sudden started getting these IE pop ups when I had IE closed all of the time, I get "You have won an Ipod, WalMart card, etc." voice ads with no window at all, I also get an IE that shows up if I do Alt+tab but doesn't show if I try to bring it up. I have XP Professional Service Pack 3. I have done Spybot, Housecall, Panda, I don't even know, I have done so many antivirus/scan/spyware things over the last four days and nothing is doing it. I think I am wasting my time and am bowing to you all, begging for help.

BTW I don't NORMALLY run w/o anything, I normally have AVG but yesterday I uninstalled it to run Kaspersky because it (AVG) was giving me trouble and now it will not completely uninstall to allow me to run Kaspersky. I am on my way to making a mess and stopped to beg for help before I kill the machine.

Edited to add - I also HAD the Antivirus 2009 but managed to get rid of that, or at least most outward appearances of it. I am left with these lingering pop up things though. I think I picked it all up in a spam email that looked very real from my brother-in-law.

EDITED -I have run a couple of more things - Ad-Aware, Stinger, Housecall, so this is an updated HJT log

Just got Vista Home Premium and I just have a couple random questions.

When I scroll over a window it automatically switches to that window. I turned this option on by accident and can't remember where I did it.

My last Dell had the synaptics touchpad driver while my current has a Dell driver. Is there any gestures similar to the ones from synaptics? (e.g. hitting the bottom right corner minimizes the window, hitting top left and top right are forward and back). thx

I have a latitude cpx laptop

randomly (and rarely) the touchpad seems to go dead. if I wait awhile it will start working again...

but last night it was really bad and stopped working for like an hour. I turned the laptop off and this morning its ok again?

any reason for this? theres nothing in connection to when it stops working..its just random..

iffy drivers?

A:random touchpad woes

You could go to the Dell website and see if there is a more up to date driver for the touchpad. What I do is mostly disable my touch pad in bios and use a wireless laptop mouse. If I do use my laptop mobile with out the wireless mouse All I need to do is re-enable the touchpad when I strt the computer up.

Brand new laptop running windows 8.1 Touchpad works for about 30 seconds after windows boots up then stops. Tried downloading latest drivers from Toshiba site but it didn't fix the problem. Tried the touchpad function keys but that is not the issue. Called Toshiba support and they suggested sending it in for a factory reset.

I also have a problem with AMD graphics going split screen after computer goes into a sleep state. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for this on advice of Tech support but not fixed either.

I'm a bit concerned as a search shows both these problems not uncommon and iv'e spent a lot of time copying over data and installing software, don't want to lose it and lose time waiting for factory reset if I have to send ot back.

Anyone have any ideas?

Symptoms:

1) The Numlock keep glowing, but no use if you use Fn key or press Numlock key or make changes in the setting for Numlock key activation/inactivation

2) Touchpad freezes only if you touch keypad to enter the password to login

3) Removing the battery has no effect
4) Can go to safemode but same problem will persist
5) Installed another copy of Windows on another drive....it works well, keypad and touch pad works
6) Replaced the keyboard drivers of the original installation but no use
7) Used Avira, Kaspersky, Avast engines to check virus and spyware but no use
8) Used super anti spyware to remove spywares: no use
9) Used CCleaner to wipe the entire computer: no use
10) An external USB mouse/keyboard: no use
11) I made an internet search for similar complaints and exactly same complaints and I found several of them posted in several forums; but nobody has yet posted a 'working' solution to my knowledge.

Please tell me how can I restore/correct/repair the first Windows installation.I need the fist installation because it holds several softwares and other rare utilities. What is the possible problem? I am writing this from the second installation.

Hello,
We just bought two laptops and both experience the same issue. While using the touchpad, suddenly, they start generating false clicks and that messes around with anything you do using touchpad. My colleague is a windows user while I am an Ubuntu user. While in Windows it seems to appear less often, in Ubuntu is like a click fest. The biggest issue is that after this anomaly starts the clicks are generated even if you don't use the touchpad. Try to watch an youtube while this is happening ....

As I cant seem to get in direct contact with Dell Support I hope for a response here.

My question is: Should we wait for a BIOS update in the next couple of days or should we return the units back for replacements?
Thank you!

Hello,

I have purchased a new z50-70 and have had it for a week, part number:59436278. Most of the time the touchpad works very well, but I have found problems when a very small piece of dust finds its way on the touchpad or a very slight moisture is on my fingertips. This is frequently causing the touchpad to not be as responsive as it should be. Frequently, the touchpad won't move properly, just moving slightly when it would normally move all over the screen, I have to either blow air on the touchpad or wipe it with a paper towl or something of that sort to get it to work properly. Sometimes it occurs for no reason also. When the touchpad is working properly the computer is great to use, I am wondering if there is anything I can do, possibly update the BIOS?

On an unrelated note, I was using microsoft word earlier in the day and the computer restarted really out of the blue, the screen went black and then the black lenovo screen appeared. I did not to my knowledge do anything to cause this and there was no update pending. I adjusted the position of my computer before hand, is it possible that I may have hit the system restore button? Whatever it was it's very important to me that I prevent this from happeneing again in the future, as I am frequently doing things that I would rather note lose. Any ideas on what happened, or suggestions on how to prevent this in the future?

Thank you.

A:Lenovo Flex 2 14 touchpad random zoom problem

I'm having this issue as well except on my Yoga 2 Pro. I have the pinch to zoom feature disabled (which is frustrating since it's a useful feature). Usually it zooms in when scrolling down, often to percentages between 800 and 900% view.

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop, running Windows 8.1 and I use Chrome, currently on Beta and Canary builds. Because the 3800x1800 resolution is mostly problematic in Windows, I have it set to 1920x1080.

In Chrome, I use the touchpad to two-finger scroll up and and webpages. This works, except every time I put two fingers to the touchpad I see a faint animation of a square zooming in... and then randomly, every so often, pages zoom way in... in such a way that changing zoom levels with CTRL++ and CTRL+- doesn't change it. The ONLY way I have found to zoom back out is to actually do a pinch gesture on the touchscreen.

I know you can disable pinchzoom in Chrome, but the problem with that is, that I WANT that to work when I use the touchscreen.

I have disabled pinch gestures on the touchpad itself.

This is driving me nuts and I can't figure out what I am doing on the touchpad to cause the zooming. It also randomly scrolls ALL the way down a page.

This might help.

I've asked this in Chrome support but am not getting anything useful there.

A:Chrome - Touchpad causes random zooming and scroll jumping

Does the issue exist when using IE ?

Recommend you contact Lenovo customer support or look thru user's guide if available. May have to do with your preferred resolution setting. Another thought is to download the basic Chrome instead of Beta and Canary.

This normaly happens when I close the lid or ramdomly (like now while writting this post). Then, sometimes, stops recognizing the keyboard and the touchpad all together. I've deleted the ELAN service and it works kinda fine, but the multitouch option will be disabled if i don't have the ELAN drivers. King regards, saurus

I have a Gateway NE57005u and recently after i replaced the screen my laptop will randomly shut down and the touch pad will sometimes work and sometimes not. If it does work and i swipe to fast on it, the screen will go to grey static and won't reverse to normal until i turn it on and off again. After i replaced the screen the laptop was fine for about two months and now it started doing this about a week ago so i don't know if it is because of the replacement screen or what. I appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks!
