I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

i bought a lenovo ideapad y700-15ISK MTM:80NV001KIV at first i though the 256GB ssd would be big enough but i think i need a storage upgrade...so i wanna know if i can add a hdd or an sshd to my laptop and where i can find a compatible one knowing that i dont have the hdd bracket or the needed cables

Ok, so I bought my Yoga 910 (4k/i7/16gb/512ssd) just a few days ago and, besides the fan noise (which I am currently working on) as well as recently discovering the issue I am about to discuss, I absolutely LOVE this machine! It is a workhorse and the build quality is amazing. That's saying a lot coming from a previous Mac user... Anyway, I was looking around today while trying to get the fan issue resolved and I noticed that the Full Charge Capacity (FCC) of the battery is only 75410mwh, while the actual Designed Capacity is meant to be 78000mwh. It is about a 4% performance decrease basically right out of the box, is that normal? I only ask because I originally bought the FHD/i7/8gb/256ssd version, before exchanging it for the upgraded unit due to liking it so much, and noticed that the FCC on the original one was actually 80102mwh, quite a bit higher than the designed capacity. Not sure if there is a setting preventing the PC to charge to the full amount or what? Maybe I just got a battery with lower ratings? Any help would be MUCH apppreciated!

Hi Right now i have 8GB of RAM (4+4) and i want to upgrade it with one 8gb chip and create 12 GB of memory (4+8). My question is - will they work in dual channel mode? The speed, manufacturer and model of both chips will be exactly the same - the only difference will be the capacity 4GB + 8GB.Is there a chance that this would work? Thanks in advance

I have a dell optiplex GX240 running win XP 32 bit.
I want to run it as a fileserver/backup server.

Current specs
Pentium 4 1.7ghz
512mb ram
20gb hd IDE

I am planning on installing a basic raid card with SATA connectors and I would like to install 2x 500gb hard drives. To install these extra parts I would have to get a new case and p.s.u.
Can I use a raid card without the raid function operating? Also what would be the maximum capacity for storage that this system can handle?

EDIT: Would it be safe to have my all my files backed up on this server connected to the network?.
Anyone who has setup something like this?

Hi. There is a confusion between the news release and the product page. The news release says that ThinkPad P1 max storage is up to 4 TB.     The product specs page says that P1 max storage is up to 1 TB.        For me, it makes a differece: I will eigher buy it now, or wait until the bigger storage becomes available. So is this true that P1 is indeed capable of 4TB, or it will be limited to 1TB?

You need to provide a weblink to press release. From a Diaster recovery viewpoint,  what is your plan to back up 4TB?

I'm looking at buying the 9360 model, and I see the purchase options for storage listed as 128 or 256GB PCIe SSD.My question:  is there room inside for more than one SSD?  I know I would want at a minimum 500GB of storage.  Was thinking of maybe going with the 128GB at purchase, and then adding 500GB in a second slot, assuming I can.
Thank you.

A:XPS 13, 9360: Storage Capacity?

There is room for just one M.2 NVMe SSD.  You can get a model with a 1T SSD -- it's also got 16 G of RAM and a QHD screen, so it's fairly expensive.
Bear in mind that while you can buy a system with a smaller SSD and replace it with a larger capacity one, the one thing you CANNOT do is upgrade the RAM in these systems - if you buy an 8G model, it cannot later be upgraded to 16 G (the memory is hard soldered to the mainboard and not replaceable).

My laptop battery's full charge capacity has fallen from 60Wh to 35Wh all of a sudden. It used to be around 58-59Wh couple of months back, then I began using conservation mode for a few weeks. Later when I went back to normal mode, my laptop's backup was totally deterioted. It began lasting under 3hrs as opposed to 5hrs+ earlier under light load. Then I discovered the reduced full charge capacity issue. It's quite weird to see such a massive loss in capacity considering that I have under 70 cycles on the battery and the laptop is barely 10 months old and used quite sparingly.Things I have tried but to no avail:1. Calibration using one key recovery(The laptop kept working for over 2hrs under 2% battery while I did this!)2. Calibration using energy management3. Reset windows.4. Fresh install windows.Service center and lenovo india are highly ignorant towards the issue, calling this as an imported laptop(I got my laptop as a gift from my uncle in US, non 4k y700 is sold in India as well). The international warranty s**ks big time.Any help will be greatly appreciated, more so if you don't ask me to disassemble my laptop! Thanks

Hi everyone, I've been using storage space for around a year with pool and raid functionality and I just realized the numbers don't add up... I have 7x 2TB all parts of a single pool with parity. Now here's the numbers:

Physical space: 14tb
Storage Space size (user set): 12tb
Used Storage Space size (according to windows explorer): ~6tb
Used Storage Space size (according to storage spaces): ~9tb
Individual drive used % (according to storage spaces): ~75% each

Storage spaces tells me to add a drive, low capacity... So I know how normal RAID5 works and it really shouldn't use 50% of the total used space as shown by the numbers above (6tb + 3tb assumed to be parity = 9tb). Also, if I need to add another drive, this means I'm almost full at 6tb/14tb?! This is worst than MIRROR RAID...

Am I reading it wrong?

A:Storage Spaces Capacity (RAID5)

Storage Spaces is not RAID5.

It is more akin to the old PAR archive system they used to use for transferring binaries over usenet. You can also over-commit. That is, you can define more disk space than you actually have, and then just add more drives as you increase space.

Hi All,
Is there a storage capacity limit for Email?

Now having said that.... would it impact your being able to receive email?

Another words if capacity is reached no more email would be received

without some email being deleted from the storage area.....
Reason I am asking is my Parents can't receive email.

All the email setting were checked double checked. Thats not the issue.

But, yep there is a but, they have 2900 emails that they have stored on

Outlook Express. I need some advice from you guys you always have known

the solution thats why I am here.

David L.

A:Outlook Express 6 Email Storage Capacity

Please clarify:

Are the 2900 emails still on the ISP server (with only a copy on the parents PC) or is the ISP server clear. (Is the option to "leave mail on server" checked for instance?)

What happens when they try to check email? Any messages etc?

You SHOULD be able to check this possibility by logging directly onto the ISP server using the ISP webmail interface and checking the mailbox, but without any clue as to who the ISP is, we cant help further in that regard.

Its unlikely to be an issue with Outlook Express itself, however I would never by choice consider using it (I use Eudora)

If the send an email to themselves (a perfectly valid check) do they get any error messages?

I usually just lurk this forum whenever I have problems with my computer, but this time I felt the need to share a solution to a problem that I couldn't find any answers to with my google-fu.

(TLDR at the bottom)

So I have a simple mirrored 2-drive (2x 4TB Seagate Barracudas) storage pool using Windows Storage Spaces which I use for storing all my media and documents. Storage Solutions was telling me I was low on capacity so I ended up going through all my media deleting anything that wasn't at least 3mbps quality. I had deleted at least 1TB worth of media and had usage on the volume down to 1.51TB (in windows explorer). This is when I noticed the huge discrepancy between what Storage solutions was saying I had left for capacity and what I knew I should have had. It was telling me I was using 6.11 TB of 7.27 TB Pool capacity, which of course makes no sense as even when accounting for lost capacity from resiliency & partial stripe utilization it should be a maximum of about 3.1GB~.

I tried emptying the recycle bin, defragging/consolidating the partition, and minimizing the Volume Shadow Copy capacity. None of this helped and to me it just felt like for some reason Windows wasn't "giving back" the capacity or was otherwise somehow failing to notice the free space and recovering it.

As far as the solution well it's more of a quick fix and it doesn't actually prevent the problem from happening or leave more than a clue towards explaining why it happens in the fi... Read more

I recently bought a 512MB MP4 player and all was going well until I used the format function in Win XP to erase all data on the disk. Ever since XP reports the capacity as only 115MB. I have tried to use disk management but it will only allow me to format or partition within the 115MB. None of the software that came with the player helps - the format facility provided will not increase back to 512MB.

I have read a couple of descriptions of using FDISK and Win98 - after several hours I still haven't managed to get my old laptop running Win98 to recognise the mp4 player despite having the drivers on the install disc. Have also downloaded a couple of programs to allow recognition of USB device through DOS but comes up with error that USB device not found.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this - is there any way to convince XP of the true capacity of the drive? Is my only option to find another Win98 computer that will recognise my player?

A:Decreased memory capacity on USB storage device following format

yes, Win/XP partitioning is {broke, malconfigured, does it poorly, et al} for at least USB HDs
and you need a 3rd party HD tool to perform the partitioning and low level formatting.
The Win/98 system will work, Partiton Magic is great,
and almost any other systems formatter (Mac, Linux) will format as FAT32,

I've just been migrating data to my new Storage Space on Windows 8. I had to do this in stages because I had a limited number of disks available to me. I had 2x 2TB disks in a nas box, and wanted to move them to a new server, and also added 2 more 2TB disks. Due to the nas being quite full, I started with a 4-disk pool consisting of 2x 2TB and 2x 500GB disks, and made a parity space.

My process was as follows:

Create parity space with the 2x 2TB and 2x 500GB disks
Copy all data from one of the disks in the nas to the space.
Remove 1x 500GB disk
Allow the space to repair
Add 1x 2TB disk from the nas into the pool
Copy the contents of the other nas disk to the space
Remove the 500GB and add the 2TB
Allow space to repair

The space is thinly provisioned at 4.85 TB which is what the GUI defaults to when I create a new parity space using all 4 disks. (I don't actually create the additional storage space). This is also what I calculated it to be (1.81*4*2/3).

Now the end result is very uneven disk usage and a low capacity warning, despite having what I think is about 57% total utilisation!
Here is a link to a screenshot of the space's setup:

1) Can someone please help me figure out why it thinks there is low capacity?
2) How can I rebalance/redistribute the data evenly over the 4 disks?

Many thanks in advance!

A:Storage Spaces showing low capacity and uneven disk usage.

Have a read through this thread that I posted a while back. It explains some of the reasons behind the extremely inefficient use of disk space as the result of using storage spaces.

It seems as though Windows 10 can add some, but not necessarily all new or detected partitions to an aggregate capacity under the label This PC (C: ) Even if the partitions are empty NTFS or RAW (inc. Linux Swap?) also include them as usage: 'System & reserved.' I haven't able to discern a pattern of how Windows 10 determines if a new or empty formatted partition will be added to the aggregate Storage summary. At best it's confusing, and appears to be broken.

Further: deleting some partitions, or shutting down, unplugging disks and rebooting does not necessarily alter the reported aggregate that is shown for This PC (C: ) i.e. You would expect removing all drives and partitions to restore This PC (C: ) status to show only the Windows partition capacity - it doesn't and it continues to show 100s extra GB that are no longer present on the PC.

e.g. on my previous install I was seeing an impossible 239GB 'system & reserved' with 323GB 'capacity.'

My system:
Windows 10 & 7 partitions each = 100GBWindows disk total capacity = 223GBOther disks, mix of NTFS, EXT4 (Mint 17, /home) Swap (Linux)
N.B. I've tried this a couple of ways with fresh installs on clean disks and see the same result. It doesn't make a difference if Windows 10 or Windows 7 is installed first. I have made the partition order: recovery|efi|msr|windows|other

On both the product page and in the user's manual PDF for the IdeaPad y700, it says that the max storage capacity the y700 accepts for 2.5" 7mm hard disk drives are 1TB with 8GB hybrid storage, and 512GB for m.2 2280 solid state drives. Is it theoretically possible for the y700 to accept 2.5" 7mm 2TB SSHDs with 32GB solid state, and 1TB m.2 SSDs and successfully boot up and run, and still use the full capacities of both hard drives? Or is there a good technical reason that the y700 physically can't (not counting "because Lenovo says so" or "because that's what's written in their product page and user's manual"), like "2TB SSHDs and 1TB m.2 SSDs are designed fundamentally differently and incompatible to their 1TB SSHD and 512GB SSD cousins" or something? I've been talking with the Lenovo technical team and live chatting with Lenovo customer support and Best Buy's Geek Squad (upon recommendation from my talk to a rep from  Lenovo's technical team), and none of them could give me a reason. Both Lenovo live chat and over the phone support directed me to other places I could ask, and geek squad just told me they could only give me an answer when I brought in a y700 to what they called some sort of "geek squad precinct", and repeated that answer when I told them I don't have one yet. Dear Sir  Welcome to Lenovo Community first of all lets do small troubleshooting steps, if its working ok if no so you have to deliver your device to the Service center to replace the battery if it still under warranty. ( find the list of service center link at the end of the message )if you do not have the power manager or power management you can download it from the below link:http://support.lenovo.com/eg/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-Y-Series-laptops/Y40-80/downloa...after installing you have an option inside called battery gauge reset, you have to make it night when u do not use the laptop cause this operation will take more than 6 hours to full charge the battery then difull charge then full charge again to refresh your battery, after you do that try your machine, if the battery still drains fast so you can visit the nearest service center to your place. https://support.lenovo.com/eg/en/contactus/supportphonelist Best Of Luck

Hello.I seeking for help on this issue. I bought my Lenovo Yoga 510 about seven months ago, and today when I opened Lenovo Settings to check for updates, I saw the disclaimer that my battery can only charge 34% of its original capacity. Is it possible that a battery in its proper condition can detereorate like this in such a short period of time, or should I claim for a warranty solution? https://imgur.com/a/sZckaDg

I would call support.  They will most likely ask you to run a battery guage reset.  If after reset its still like that and laptop is under 1 year old and under warranty in my opinion they will replace battery.

I'm not aware of any capacity limit, any 2.5" drive up to 9mm height should work

In my opinion it would make more sense to put the SSD in the internal bay and the HDD in the caddy, not the other way around.I
