msi k7n2 delta

Q: msi k7n2 delta

Hi everyone,I'm in need of some help.I have just built a new pc using an msi k7n2 delta,xp 2600+barton and 512mb ddr 2700 memory plus the norm. The problem I have is that ican only run at 133 mhz.If i change to 166mhz in the bios, the system just crashes. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatful.

Preferred Solution: msi k7n2 delta

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: msi k7n2 delta

Check your cooling and temperatures. At 166Mhz, the CPU will be running hotter and may be crashing. Also, if have more than one stick of RAM, then try one stick at a time - one could be faulty.

Is the RAM Kingston by chance? You may need a BIOS update.

Ok, I have a K7N2 Delta-L mobo and love msi. I was checking on kingston memory for this board and didn't find any listing on their web site so I called those fine folks.
They stated that they don't support that board with their memory because the Nforce chipset is not stable. Has anyone had any troubles with that? Would love to hear your thoughts.

A:K7N2 Delta-L

The Nforce2 boards are a little rough on memory at default settings in dual channel mode, the fix for this is just to bump the vdimm voltage up one notch.

As far as being unstable, the tech who told you this is out of his gourd.

Installed new Mb MSI K7N2 Delta L. Specs at

Using Win98. Loaded CD that came with Mb which says system not compatible and lists Win98SE but not Win98. Modem is not found. Monitor is limited to 16colors. I was not aware of any Win98Se requirement for this Mb when I bought it. Is there a fix for Win98 that would allow the driver for this Mb?

Got a situation were my msi k7n2 delta2 locks up . I built a mce 2005 using this mb/ I have a amd 2600 mobile and 1gb corsair value ram, gpu is a nvidia 6600gs,in a thermal take bach case.
This is the second msi board,1st one got rma replaced. Same issue. Installed latest drivers and bios. 1st thought it was os or hd, tried hd in another machine ,no prob. Than thought maybe a conflict w/a start up program so I started alimninating those to no avail.
This thing locks up after post and into the greeting screen90% of the time ,have to hit reset several times to get it to the point were it makes it thru the greeting. The rest of the time it just locks up when it feels like it . (my red headed stepchild)
Thought it might be issue w/vfd disconnected that same story. Ihave no issues w the media center part ,thing records fine w/no prob. It's getting there thats the prob.
Hope some one has experienced this and found a salution other than getting a diff m/b as socket a mbs are getting scarce.
Your assistance in this matter is appreciated

Long story short,

Friend bought a K7N2 Delta serias MSI board and ever since he got it has had nothing but problems. The problems are as following,
His raid array keeps failing,

random error (this only occurs when something messes up during a boot process)

When boot process messes up (like when it cant find the hard drives) I cant boot my OS and it tries to search for my mac address and get the file, then which of course it cant and asks me fo ra boot disk.. I did post here thinking this was a seperate issue but ive come to a ocnclusion its the motherboard..

my post of my original assumption, http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=175587

This assumption is wrong in the above link..
Now ive done the following,

Ive tried having it boot in differnt sequences to default in the bios

ive tried swapping out each raid hard drive with a hard drive i know that works and tried a fresh instal but it bugs out in a random spot..Ive tried both hard drives with a new hard drive with serperat installs and same issue so its NOT a hardrive failing or going bad.

Ive read on the internet im not the only person have this problem and others are have the same problem

Any ideas on this particular motherboard and what to try?

Only thing i can think of is the motherboard is bad but.. If its bad why are like 100 other people having the same exact problem?

Decided to upgrade my memory, ran Crucial system scan and went with their suggestion of CT12864Z40B (1 GB 184 Pin DDR PC 3200)

So I bought 2 and now have 2 gigs of memory.

I started having serious instability issues and ran Knoppix linux off the live cd (just to rule out that I had some issue with windows or a virus or something) that kept crashing also, which never happened before.

I googled my system specs:

AMD Athlon XP 3200+
MSI 6570 K7N2 Delta L
One thread said this mobo had issues with CAS Latency of 3. They said try setting to 2.5 11 3 3

I made those adjustments and it's been fine so far (90 mins, avg scan which kept crashing before, and firefox hasn't crashed at all either)

I contacted Crucial live chat (not helpful) and emailed their tech support. The response I got was that I shouldn't have to mess with those settings.

I turn to you, the community. I've seen suggestions for other similar mobos that had different number on the tRAS, tRP, and tRCD (which I don't really understand what they do)

Just hoping had some clarification on these settings and whether or not I should change them further.

Ps. I'm currently running CPU-Z and here is what it has to say:

Under the CPU tab:
Core Speed 2205.1 MHz

Bus Speed 200.5 MHz
Rated FSB 400.9 MHz

Under the Memory Tab:

DRAM Frequency 200.5 MHz

tRCD 3 Clocks
tRP 3 Clocks
tRAS 11 Clocks

Also, I am running dram at 2.7v... Read more

These are the components which make up the system that I can?t get to work:

MSI K7N2 Delta-L motherboard
AMD XP 2600+ processor with heatsink
512mb DDR PC 2700 Ram - Generic I believe
Chaintech gForce MX440 64mb Videocard
Western Digital 80gb Hard Drive
Lite-On 52x CD-RW
52x CD-Rom
Sony 1.44 Floppy
2 case fans
Turbo Case 350watt ATX
Windows XP

Ok here is my problem - It?s going to be long and detailed so everyone knows what I have gone through:

I first built the system and powered it on. The screen read what it was supposed to such as XP 2600+. It took a very long time to detect all of the devices. Then it would throw a floppy drive fail (40) error. I went through the BIOS and selected boot from CD-ROM first so I could boot up WinXP and let it do it?s thing. It took a very long time to do this. Then it told me that the drive wasn?t partitioned and that it couldn?t install the OS. Then I went through the BIOS and selectd boot from floppy but that was failiing so that didn?t work. Keep in mind that on each start-up the processor would change what it was - for example it did not say XP 2600+ anymore but rather 1057gzh or something like that.

So then I take it to a computer shop in my college town to ask him what?s wrong. He screwed around with the BIOS and couldn?t figure out why it wasn?t reading the processor right. I think he overclocked it and really messed it up. When I took it home that day I could only get it to turn on a... Read more

A:HELP! Can't get MSI K7N2 Delta-L to work with AMD XP 2600+ - Nothing happens!

Sounds very similar to my boot problems after I done my 1st build. My ASUS has an option in the BIOS for Plug and Play OS. The default is NO. After a couple of failed boot attempts, I noticed this option and set it to YES. No boot problems since. On a different note, I'm not sure what you meant by "generic" for your memory and what else did you used to swap it out, but I work in the memory chip manufacturing business and I can tell you that there are "tiers" for customers of our products. Tier 1 customers are Kingston et al., they'll return an entire shipment just for cosmetic defects, let alone testing. Tier 2 customers are those whose testing criterias are not as stringent as Tier 1. Chips that "failed" Tier 1 standards are offered to Tier 2 buyers at a discount. Tier 3 module builders exists and you can guess about their standards.

A:NO SOUND IN NEW Microstar K7N2 Delta 2 Motherboard

Check if windows is using your sound-card to map audio to...
Control Panel/Sound and audio devices/Audio/Default device: Realtek AC97 Audio

The best way to test for sound at any time is to click on the volume icon and hit the tab repeatedly until you find some sound...If it is clickable and windows doesn't lag while doing it you know for sure windows is using your sound driver to map sound to. Check all volumes and cables.

I know this sounds basic, sometimes the best solution as well, but you haven't mentioned trying a different audio-jack at the back.

Now to the answer you won't like....
I've once had a client with the exact same motherboard msi K7N2 D2 m/board and everything seemed to work, but the sound... Swopped it for another one and the issue was resolved. It's a faulty m/board.

I hope it's still under warrenty... Good Luck

I have an MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR mobo. There have been occasions where I need to get into safe mode. Normally, on just about any other mobo, you would just hit the F8 key at boot time, and you would go into safe mode. But not with this one. When you hit F8 at boot time, you get the boot menu, which is basically just a boot order starting with floppy, then HDD 0, and....well you get it. On top of that, when I get this boot menu, it wants a serial keyboard instead of a USB keyboard, because I cant use my USB microsoft keyboard at all when this boot menu comes up. If I plug in a serial keyboard instead of my USB keyboard, I can use the menu. When I do that, and choose HDD 0, you just boot into normal mode afterwards......no safe mode. How do you get into safe mode with this mobo other than the F8 key? Is there any way to disable the boot menu (I looked in the BIOS, and there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off)? I know that you can get into safe mode by going into MSCONFIG and selecting safeboot under the boot.ini tab, but there may be a time when I cant do that. There has got to be some way to get into safe mode using the keyboard at boot time, and why they assigned the boot menu to the F8 key is beyond me. I googled for answers, but found nothing significant. I went through the mobo manual, and there is no mention of the boot menu in there at all. Any ideas?

Last night I reflashed my bios using the MSI live update to bring my driver version up to 5.8.

1st thing I noticed when rebooting all the bios settings had been changed back to the default & the system was now recognizing the chip as a 1800 XP

From what I have read the FSB should be set @ 166 & the multiplier @ 15.

However when I am in my CPU Ratio settings the highest you can select is 13.

Is anyone else running this chip & mobo & can tell me what their BIOS seetins are under Frequency / Voltage & Under Advanced Chipset features?

I am also wonder what the FSB spread spectrum should be set at?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

A:BIOS problem with AMD 2400 XP & K7N2 Delta mobo

Just set the FSB to 133mhz. You don't have to set the multiplier, it will be done automatically & please do not fiddle with the BIOS or update it if it is not necessary. Avoids a lot of problems.

OK, I got the MSI board above to replace my Asus A7N8XE-Deluxe when it got frizzled by lightning.

I installed everything in the case, yadda yadda.

When I started it up, everything seems to go in slo-motion. For example; I hit delete to enter the bios, wait 3 or 4 minutes. Once I get in, I hit the down arrow key to select the next selection down, and I have to wait 45 seconds or a minute before the cursor moves.

It seems to have something to do with the IDE, as It goes thru the video card and the memtest pretty fast, but when it gets to detecting IDE drives, it slows to a crawl.

I managed to get it to boot early on, but haven't been able to replicate it since. Now I'm just getting a disk boot error.

It should be noted that I've tried every configuration I can think of. I've moved the 2 512 MB sticks of ram into every possible slot, tried each of them individually, etc.. I've tried the HDD on both IDE channels, and even without a HDD at all, and the same thing happens (the slo-mo thing, anyway). I've yanked my sound card out all together, and tried both a Geforce 6600GT and a TNT2 Ultra.

I've tried unhooking the mouse, and the keyboard, and both. I've unhooked the LAN, etc. Basically, I'm barebones at this point, and can't figure out what the hell's going on. Temps seem OK, CPU temp was about 38 or so after about 5 mins.

Anybody have any ideas, or is this mobo DOA?

I recently bought a new motherboard. it worked fine for a while, tried to install all my motherboard drivers then it wouldn't boot up. it either:

1. complains of a CMOS ERROR: keyboard not present or keyboard error

insert system disk then press enter [no keyboard so cant press enter ]

2. doesn't do anything

3. starts to POST but stops when it gets to the floppy drive then it says at bottom of screen CMOS ERROR then something about the floppy drive.

There is a fourth error but that only happens when i don't have the floppy drive connected, then it complains of no floppy drive and an alarm sounds.

This is starting to piss me off: changed CMOS battery, reset CMOS millions of times using the jumper and still doesn't work.

I can't get onto BIOS as the keyboard doesn't work no matter what.

tried the keyboard and floppy drives on other computers and they work fine.

Is my motherboard damaged beyond repair (no other way but to get a new one) or is there a way to fix this? is it the CMOS?

i really need help!

Hi there, i have a msi k7n2 - ms - 6570 version 1 mobo and i started building a computer (specs, that board, 256 ddr pc2100, amd 1800+ k7, maxtor sata hdd 160gb, geforce4 mx440 64mb and a phillips cd-rw) when i had finished i switched it on every thing seemed ok detected memory/cpu fine. I entered bios to set cd-rom first boot saved, exited/rebooted then never posts again but still switches on and doesnt beep. I cant understand why this has happened any ideas any one ? thanks Azz

A:my msi k7n2 board wont post no more :-S

If this happened to me i would unplug everything not required to boot i.e any pci cards (not including vga) and the cd-rom. then i would clear the cmos via the jumper on the board (check your mobo manual for details). usually your required to turn the power off, remove the cmos battery, move the jumper to clear the cmos and leave it for 15-20 secs.

Also double check none of the components have worked loose, i.e the ram, vga card, ide/sata cables etc. and if possible try tested components in the board i.e. another stick of ram, different graphics card.

If you try this and get no joy you have very little option but to rma the board.

Good Luck

Hi all --
I've been working on building a pc for weeks & am now losing ground. Before I throw the whole thing out the window, thought I'd ask around:
Parts right now:

MSI K7N2 Delta mobo
Athlon XP 2000+ cpu
ATI Radeon 9600 pro video
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS sound
Samsung SC-148C 48x CD-ROM
Imation floppy drive
Seagate 160 GB and 80 GB ultra ATA/100 hard drives
Samsung syncmaster 997 DF monitor

There's no OS installed; trying to install new (full) version of Win xp SP2.

I wasn't able to boot from floppy or CD -- usually got error saying:
"File aspiec.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5964 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c"
-- if I got past this I would get "file pci.sys is corrupted."

So I took a shot in the dark & formatted -- successfully -- the 80 GB hard drive. Tried to boot up again and got the same error pci.sys is corrupted. This included when I had the windows xp CD-rom in the drive. :suspiciou

Sooooooooo, got REALLY bold and took a look @ the bios setup -- set it to boot first from CD-ROM. I figured that if I could boot directly from the Win XP CD then I might be able to deal with the errors.

Now when I turn it on I get no display whatsoever -- the cd-rom light blinks regularly several times, then stops; the "working" light on top of the case stays on steadily, and the monitor shows nothing. Actually, the power light blinks, meaning th... Read more

Hi all, as the title says I'm having problems starting up my computer.
Here is my setup..

I have a MSI k7n2 Delta2 platinum Mobo
Amd Athlon 2600 XP processor
three ram sticks:
one 256 mb Rosewell pc3200
one 256 mb Samsung pc2700
one 256 mb Kingston unknown (i think it is 2700 but cant remember)
nVidia 5200 fx graphics card
Seagate 40 gb HDD Master
Maxtor 80 gb HDD Slave
Sony Cdrw burner

It all started the other day when my PC started restarting over and over after bootup continuosly. I watched it for about a minute and shut off the power from the PSU since it wouldn't stop with just the power button.

Now when I cut the PC on it powers up and the CPU fans, system fans, hdds, cdrw, and everything runs but I have no video to my monitor and it also doesn't post.

I try a backup video card but still get the same results. (both cards work on my other pc)

So I disconnect everything but power to mobo and turn it on. It now posts one long beep continuosly. Which the mobo book says it is a DRAM error.

Next I try reconnecting everything but the ram and still get the same POST.
I put one ram stick in (the Rosewell) and power on and it does the same thing again with no posts.

So next i tried all three RAM sticks in different slots alone and together with the same results as before. So I thought that maybe my RAM was bad. I decided to test it in my other PC and all three work fine. The PC did run before with this RAM. I have tried RAM ou... Read more

I need and urgent help. I have followin system (actually, two of them, however just one of them has the certain problem):

PSU MaxPower PX-350 (230V=5A,+3.3V=20A,+5V=40A, +12V=16A, -5v=0.5A)
nothing else

I have set the BIOS to the default settings, the CPU is recognized correctly and also RAM is set to 200MHz, which is correct.

The problem is, that when I install Windows XP, even in the text screen the system freezes or reboots. Once I somehow managed to install the system and it worked just fine for a while. Then it started to reboot whenever. First I thought it was caused by the MSI utilities I hve installed (like GoodMem atc.) becuase uninstalling them solved the problem for a while. But now this happens regulary - even after booting to the graphical mode of the system, it takes just few seconds until it reboots.

Therefore I was trying to reinstall the system, but I'm not able to do it, becuase the isntalation process freezes or reboots in the text mode wile displaying "Starting Windows XP".

The idle temperature of the CPU is allways over 60C and while working it's at least 70C.

How could it be with budled CPU cooler so high? I bought the BOX version to be sure the cooler is fully compatible with the CPU.

Please, if... Read more

Just got a MSI K7N2-L nVIDIA nForce2 SPP mobo for my a family member. The nForce2 drivers and application specify that there is an audio util to setup the different sound configuration (looks pretty based on manual pictures). But the thing is that it does not find the nForce sound chipset. Even though it should. I've tried both the MSI's drivers/app, and nVidia's WHQL set (v2.03)

Any ideas what is going on?
I don't have the S-Bracket (SPDIF / Optical). But I would still assume that the basic software would work as you can use the line in/out/speaker to do surround as well.

The sound drivers do work. It's just the configuration application.

Also I was condsidering getting v2.4x for the nVidia nForce set, but nVidia has taken the drivers down as they are extremely buggy.

Let me begin by saying that I am NOT experienced with computers, and that I have been blessed with two preteens that love to play games on the internet and download random crap that has led me here. I was having problemswith Google Chrome, and wanted to switch to Firefox. I uninstalled Chrome but when attempting to download Firefox, I was "told" that my computer was incompatable. (It's an old Vista piece of crap) so I reinstalled Chrome. When it was finished, I realized that when I got online, three tabs opened, one for Chrome, one a new tab, and the third was Delta Search. I'm always careful to read everything before downloading anything, because theres always a hidden toolbar or something else that I don't want. Now, I've gone into the control panel, don't see anything related to Delta or Yontoo, went to Internet Explorer to manage add ons, that didn't work...it just won't go away! what to do, what to do? Using Google Chrome I thought Delta Search was some sort
of update (silly old silver surfer!) Read about deleting this in
Computeractive Magazine wouldnt delete so deleted Chrome
altogether. My query is what is Delta Search as I experienced
no problems while using this. Gone back to IE but oh so slow !
My laptop runs Google Chrome with no sign of Delta Search so
I presume I was at fault for its presence on my desktop !

Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on the Download Now button and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.

Hello all,
I made a download at a sight that I knew was questionable... yeah, I know better.  I don't know if this is only the toolbar or an infection.  I can't find it in Uninstall a program and doesn't show up in a search.  Could someone please inform me how to determine what this is and how to get rid of it.
Edit:  I downloaded and ran AdwCleaner, it's gone.

Hi Dan that's what I was going to say.. Also clean your Temp folder Please download TFC (Temp File Cleaner) by Old Timer and save it to your desktop.alternate download linkSave any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.TFC will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, Java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder.Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.Note: It is normal for the computer to be slow to boot after running TFC cleaner the first time.

I'm new here and aquired this I believe when my son was downloading some music.   I have run Malwarebytes a few times and now have it where it finds nothing.  I have also deleted any signs of it via Revo Uninstaller and took steps to remove it from Firefox, Chrome and IE.  I noticed today that I'm unable to create any new folders, I click on the option and nothing appears to happen and I no longer have the option when I right click on the folder.   so it makes me thing I still might have it on our computer or I guess it could be another problem.  I hope someone has some advice for me.
I also saw this on one of your threads and wonder how reliable it really is...

My toolbar keeps changing to Delta and I can't get rid of it. It won't let me uninstall it in the uninstall programs. I ran
a program that said I had 533 errors : ex: zado, gator, tovaro etc. After scan they wanted me to buy and I can't afford
to buy at this time. Can anyone help?

A:Can't get rid of this Delta toolbar.

I ran a program that said I had 533 errorsOK -First question, What is the name of this program ?? Now -Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop. There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/* Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.* A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.* If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.* Do not reboot until instructed.*  Do not reboot your computer after running RKill as the malware programs will start again.* If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode. When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.Post it in your next reply.NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.  Now -Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free (aka MBAM)* Double-click MBAM -setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.* At the end, be sure to Check for Updates to be so it is current* If an update is found, it will do... so any one have idea how to get infected !!
Thank you.

@thegeekaid: You want to be infected? Well go to the third party download repository like CNET, Brothersoft and others where installer contains numerous bundled toolbars or possible PUP.

Hi soule2souleSorry for the delay in response to your thread. Please take note of the following:1. Please do not run any other tools unless instructed.2. The cleaning process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you that your computer is clean.3. If there's anything that you don't understand, please ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.4. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.I see from your other thread that it was suggested that you may have a 'Zero Access' infection..... let's check for that.Step 1Please disable Windows Defender... it is known to interfere with our fixes.Normally Avast would have disabled this when installed as it may conflict.Click Start >> Programs >> Windows Defender or launch from the system tray icon.Click on Tools & Settings >> Options.Under Real-time protection options, uncheck the "Real-time protection" check box.Click Save.Go to Start >> Control Panel >> Security >> Windows Defender, at the bottom of the Window Defenders page uncheck under Administrator Options "use Windows Defender" and then Save.RecommendationI am reading some unfavourable things about Anvi Smart Defender plus it may well conflict with the rest of your security.I recommend this is uninstalled.Step 2For x32 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop. <<<< ImportantDouble-click the downloaded icon to run the tool. When the tool opens click...
