I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Is the warning for the PRIMARY battery or for the CMOS battery?Battery's can poop out on you even if they are new.Should be nothing more than a warranty replacement for the primary, as for the CMOS, best to send it in to have that done under warranty.Soooo, if the primary battery is out of the laptop, and you plug in the AC, do you still get the FAIL prompt?AND....Do the HP BATTERY CHECK from the HP ADVISOR program.

Hi @Marg44,  First and foremost, I want to welcome you to the HP Support Forums! Here at the forums, you have many community members that will help you toward a solution. If my reply resolves your issue or answer your question(s), please click the Accept as Solution button to allow others to find the solution.  Generally speaking, if "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" appears in an alert message, it means the measured storage capacity of the primary battery is less than 25% of the original storage capacity. The number ?601? denotes the associated error code that is recorded in the system log. The best way to check and see if the Battery error is accurate would be to update the Notebook's BIOS and then test the battery again using the Battery Test in the System Diagnostics (F2) environment. Here are the steps for the HP System Diagnostic Battery Test from the Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7) document:  To access the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test:Unplug the power cord and turn off the computer.Press the power button to turn on the computer.Immediately press the Esc key and press it repeatedly while the computer starts. The Start Up menu opens.Press F2 to select F2 System Diagnostics.Click Battery Test from the list of Hardware Diagnostic options.Plug in the power cord (if not already done).Click Start Batter... Hi, The error message you receive at boot and the description of the issue both confirm that your notebooks main Lithium Ion battery needs to be replaced ( not the cell on the system board as the message tends to indicate ).  The Primary (internal) Battery (601) error indicates that the storage capacity of the main battery has fallen below 25% of its original capacity. Further information on this can be found in the following HP Document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 Regards, DP-K

I am not sure in which category this applies, so I apologize if this is not the correct location...

I am working on an HP G62 with a couple of issues.

First is that I keep getting a "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" message at boot up. I replaced the CR2032 CMOS battery - which tests good under load, by the way - and tried to run the battery calibration under System Diagnostics (which I didn't really think applied to the CMOS battery anyway, but HP says it does so...) but I still get the same message. I also cleaned the battery contacts with a fiberglass brush. When I did the battery calibration, it just hung. That was on AC, so I tried it on battery and the laptop died after a couple of minutes - leading me to believe that the SECONDARY (EXTERNAL) battery is the battery that is bad, despite the laptops insistence that it's the primary battery...

Second problem is that when I try to boot to windows "normally" it goes through the "starting windows" screen but then very QUICKLY flashes a blue screen and reboots. When I try to boot into the System Recovery software, it boots up to a blue-background screen with a mouse icon that I can move but the recovery software never loads, regardless of how long I let it set.

Any ideas on either issue would be ever so greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

A:Primary (internal) Battery (601) + System Restore Fails

I'm not familiar with laptops that have both primary and secondary batteries connected (with most laptops you need to physically replace the depleted battery with the spare). Why do you think that it is really the secondary battery? Wouldn't the error code be 602 instead of 601? If both batteries are the same you could switch them and see what happens.

Can you get into the BIOS and check to see if it is detecting the hard drive? If so, run any disk diagnostic that the BIOS may have.

Hello, first all the facts: Model: Pavilion TS 11Year bought: 2013product Number: E2V68EA#ABDBattery test result: primary battery failed - replace (42)Error code: 0GF2MR - 6MW8H9 - XD7WXF - C0A503 The problem: I have noticed the very first time the battery did not fully charge up to 100% app. 1 1/2 years ago. Then it always stayed at about 75%. I made several battery tests, yet everything seemed to be fine. Two days ago, I noticed the battery was down to 7% - not charging even though it should be. I run some battery tests again and the error stated above suddenly came up. The HP battery test via the support center sated everything was okay, yet as I googled the primary battery failed message, I kind of got alarmed.  There is no warranty left and the touchscreen had to be disabled a couple of months ago, because it was not working properly as well. I hope for advises - does it actually make sense to try to repair it? Can this problem be repaired - as far as I understand, the primary battery means changing the removable battery won't help at all? Best wishes,Kristina

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi everyone, If you don't want to read everything, just scroll down to the underlined part  For 3 years now, my Y500 (gt650m sli, second gpu in Ultrabay) had been working fine. But now, there is a problem. My primary gpu, i.e. the one attached to the motherboard, not the one connected via Ultrabay, appears to be broken. The Problem:Occasionally, the primary gpu has malfunctions. Therefore, I have to use the device manager to switch it off. Otherwise, my laptop tends to reboot out of an instant after running for some time. There are times when I can use the gpu for several hours without any problems, but there also are times when I cannot use it at all. When I switch it off in the dev.man., move my notebook, and switch it on again, there is a probability that the gpu might work. Hence, I assume a hardware issue. The Story:The problem first appeared after a really nasty circumstance; I took my notebook with me in its bag (a rather fluffy bag to prevent the notebook from blows) and suddenly, I realised that the bag became hot. The reason was a Windows update started out of standby... The notebook crashed with 34% of the updates installed. Afterwards, I had to reinstall Windows or nothing would work. (The crash at 34% seems to originate in the empty battery, but that's not for sure)After the reinstallation, said issue occured for the first time. Hence, I reinstalled the OS several times. Currently, I am using the OS from the OKR with the automatic (inescapable) updat... Read more

A:Re: battery check: primary-replace(40)

Hi @unicornsplay, Thank you for the inquiry. I hope you had a terrific weekend!    I grasp that you have verified the date and time are correct in the BIOS.However you got a different failure code, though. This error code is referring to the battery. What were the results when you tested and calibrated the battery. You could also try this step as it is possible that the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, which is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery has become corrupted. Step 1. Go to Device Manager.Step 2. Select Batteries.Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 4. Click Uninstall.Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver.Step 6. Shutdown the computer.Step 7: Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in.When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.Step 8. Go to Device Manager.Step 9. Select Batteries.Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller. Please let me know the outcome.

Hello,

The primary battery that came with the computer is not very efficient now since it only lasts for 20mins. So, someone gave me a battery to replace it. It's DL-D600, which is from www.batterytech.com I removed the old battery and put in the new one. However, the computer does not allow the new one to be charged. On the toolbar, the icon says "on AC power" and when I clicked on it, the battery info is there but it's not charging at all. On the website, it says that DL-D600 can be used on dell inspiron 600m. So, I am not sure what the problem is. Can someone please help me with this? How can I get the battery to work? I am going on a trip very soon and I'd like to get it to work. It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

Please, tell me can I still use it without problems when plugged in. If no, then how to replace it . Thank you

A:internal battery 601

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

My original battery stopped being detected so I ordered a new battery and the new battery is getting the same message. The battery is internal so I can't just pop it out.

With my recent purchase of a T460 Laptop, I found that this particular model doesn't comes with an Internal Built In battery in my country (India).  Machine Type  : 20FMMTM                  : 20FMA02QIG While searching for compatible Internal batteries here: http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/partslookup , It seems that there are two such batteries compatible with the T460 Model: 45N1773 and 45N1109.  From where can I purchase/order these internal batteries and get them installed ?

Hi all, I recently acquired a very-nearly-new Thinkpad T450 (i5 5300, 8GB) but I have found that under Windows 10 power options it shows the removable battery at 100% (after charging) but the internal battery is "not available for use". I have checked the BIOS for options to activate it without success. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks, Tim

If the internal battery on my desktop pc is dead
could this cause my pc not to start?
And if so, by replacing it will I be able to start my
pc normally or do I have to do something else?
Reason I'm asking is my pc has power but no splash
screen shows up. The light indicator that shows
activity goes on briefly and the dvd light indicator
turns on briefly. But nothing happens, black screen.

Help!

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.

I have received the dreaded 601 error before my start-up process.  I ran the battery check through the operating systems' diagnostics (F2) and it said it would need replaced due to use over time.  I also ran the battery charge check through HP Support Assistant and it said that it was very weak and possibly needed replaced.   How do I replace my internal battery?  The website that HP Support Assistant took me to only had the external batteries available.

Can we have your full model number? I think the error you are seeing refers to the "main", large battery and not the little clock or CMOS battery. Is your system closed so that the battery is not easily removeable? The full model number will point us to the right service manual which will show the part you need and the replacement process. Also need to know what country you live in.  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108
