I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently purchased an X1 extreme i7 4k and get a max of 3.5 hours of battery per charge. I use the device at 60-80% brightness without the backlit keyoard. Mainly on chrome and other Office365 products, nothing too crazy. I recently disabled the graphics card via the device manager, but that did not seem to help. Any ideas? Was wondering if this is a common issue? 3.5 hours of battery is a deal breaker.

If you read some other comments regarding the battery life you will notice that after you use it for a while, things begin to calm down. Why don?t you give this a try and see if it works on your new system

I have been having no luck with regards to this laptop and its quite appalling battery life!  I have had the machine since November 2018 and according to my Windows 10 Battery Report my Estimated Avg battery life is 2h47min.  This is a FAR cry from the 7+ hours advertised.  This is running Chrome and Visual Studio Code.  I would like an actual answer from a Lenovo Representative regarding this as this is a far cry from what I was expecting!

I am also running Chrome and VS Code on my P1, which has the same hardware as X1 Extreme, but on Linux. I can get 7-8 hour battery life when running Intel GPU. Battery life with NVIDIA GPU is much shorter. If you connect your laptop to external monitors, it has to run NVIDIA GPU, so that might be affecting battery life.

The computer battery is going down while it is connected to power supply. I have been noticing this for the last 3 weeks. It usually drops 4% to 6% a week. Now the computer is configured to not charge until reach a certain level to save battery life, for that reason I can notice the battery going down and staying this way. By the way, other problem that may be related is that it was not charging even before I set the configuration for the battery threshold, meaning that before was configured to charge always. I installed Lenovo Vantage, changed the configuration and was still not able to see it charging until I turned off the compute, let it off for a certain time and then connected to power supply.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

There is a bug involving the nvidia GPU that seems to be causing drain: Go to device manager, select dedicated nvidia GPU -> disable it then -> reenableyour idle power draw will now be so much less. I'm experiencing extreme battery drain on this laptop.  While turned off, over 3 days it looses 15% charge and is dead within the month. I contacted HP before and they ran a battery test, it said the battery was OK (I'm only 40 cycles in anyways) and that it's normal for the battery to drain while off.  But I think 15% in 3 days is not normal, all other laptop makes do not have it this bad. I think it must be a BIOS issue, one which sending the laptop in will not fix. HP needs to fix this and release an update.

I just received my new Thinkpad Extreme laptop with 4k screen a few days ago. I'm formerly a Macbook Pro user and I love the Thinkpad Extreme. However, I'm shocked to see that my real-world battery life usage is 4hrs and 40mins. Especially when they advertise the battery life to be 14 hrs! My power mode is set to "Better Battery", screen brightness at about 80% and I'm the only doing web browsing and some youtube videos. Not even video rendering or editing. This is a massive deal-breaker for me. I was hopping for about 6 hours at least. Can any other Thinkpad Extreme user with 4k monitor advise if this is normal? How much battery life do you get? I checked with support but they refuse to tell me what the average battery life I should be expecting and just say that battery life will vary with usage. I found this review online which says they got 6 hours 7mins of continuous wifi web surfing: https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-extreme Again, I feel quite a let down because the the specs say up to 14 hours. I was expecting even at half of that I was hoping to get about 7 hours. But about 4+ hours is really bad - its almost the same as my 7 year old Macbook Pro which I switched from.

Hi all, It has been about a month since I received the new X1 Extreme, and it has been quite good so far, but today, for some unknown reason, I've run into some apparent battery issues. I charged my computer overnight yesterday, and when I tried using it in class today, it wouldn't start. The red light on the ThinkPad logo wasn't flashing at all, so something was off. I tried turning it on many times, but nothing happened.  When I came home, I plugged it in and it allowed me to turn it on, but it was stuck at 46% charge and wouldn't move (even after an hour - a period of time sufficient to charge the computer up to 80%). Then, as I was writing this post, a loud 2 bell ringing sound came on and the computer shut down. When I started it up again (connected to the AC adapter), the Lenovo Vantage battery icon displayed an "X" and the Windows battery appeared empty. I made sure to back up everything and updated BIOS and other drivers just in case, but nothing seemed to work. If I disconnect the AC adapter, the computer immediately dies. Like this, the computer is no longer useful to me since I need it on the go.  I'll contact Lenovo support once my schedule frees up a bit, but if this has happened before and you've found a solution, I'd like to get this back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks,  Reilly

Three days with my new X1E and cannot get it better than 3 hours battery life.  I've read all I could find on battery saving and tweaks and three hours is the best I could get.   I turned down the screen to about 50% and with zero activity, just sitting idle with the scren on, it lasted just over 3 hours.  I also did a battery calibration refresh - no change.    How is it possilbe to claim 15 hours in their specs???   I see others are getting around 6 hours; I'd be happy with that... It would make an excellent desktop that's plugged in all the time.   Sadly, it's going back for a refund...

Hello, Before writing this message, I have combed through many articles and forum posting but couldn't find anything that helped. When I benchmark the machine running on AC, it performs as expected. When I run the same tests on battery, the performance is horrible - about 1/3 of the performance compared to AC. I have already checked all my OS power management profiles, to ensure that the scheme used for battery is the same on AC; I made sure the slider on on the battery icon is all the way to the right (Best Performance); I've gone into BIOS to set Maximum Performance for CPU speed stepping as well as Thermal Management Scheme. No matter what I do, I can't get it to run at full performance on battery. All I'm trying to achieve is have the laptop run as fast on battery as on AC, with the obvious expectation that the battery will drain fast (which is fine). Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Sherman

My X1 Extreme notebook (i7-8750H + 1050) throttles to 0.8 Ghz the moment it comes out of sleep and is not connected to AC.  There is no real reason to throttle to 0.82 as cpu temperature is perfectly fine & fans are not spinning. All drivers & windows updates are up to date, including the latest bios firmware, HyperV is not installed & smart cooling is disabled in vantage. The lag & slowness it causes is really frustrating and is costing me time and productivity when working on battery.  After doing some research on this forum, it found out  that this behavior can be 'fixed' by one of the 2 in ThrottleStop:* Disabling "BD PROCHOT" => immediately goes to 3.9 Ghz* Enabling "Disable turbo" in ThrottleStop => immediately goes to 2.2 Ghz while it's actually a feature that is designed to not enable turbo. The battery even has a longer lifetime on this mode than the extreme 0.82 Ghz default throttle I can not imagine that this is intended behavior by one of the +2500? flagships of Lenovo? Why is this the out of box behavior? Why did I have to put time in this ? @Lenovo: can we fix this another way than to use a third party app that may or may not void warranty as we have to mess around with bd prochot?

Some background info: This is my father's X1E. He has been running into 2 issues, "No battery present" notifications causing shut down issues and BSODs. First, "No battery present" notification. Out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, the computer won't detect the battery "No battery present". However... the computer can still remain powered on without the power cable plugged in. Not much of an issue on the surface... except... when this happens the computer does not give any indication of it's charge level and as a result, doesn't go to sleep when the battery is low... instead it just shuts off (battery runs dry). Oh, and the computer will sometimes just randomly shut down. No warning. Needless to say, this is not acceptable for a laptop (especially one that is job critical and costs >$2K). Second, the BSODs. This has also been a complete mystery. Obviously, I'm not at his computer 24/7, but that image is the latest one he sent me. Again, seemingly random. I've done some googling on this BSOD and it seems to have something to do with the sleep function of the computer... which leads me to believe it may be related to the "no battery present" issue... but IDK. I've tried to do some basic troubleshooting. Resetting the battery (as per Lenovo's own instructions), changing settings in power options (I forget what specifically) and some other things I can't remember ATM. Finally, he had the laptop RMA'd. It came back with a fresh install of Windows 10... but the... Read more

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

We have two new Latitude 5289's and when in sleep mode the battery is drained abnormal. It happens for both of these new laptops.
The battery seems to be drained even faster than when you are using the laptop.
Does anybody have the same experience or a fix?

Cheers

Hi Guys,I have a Lenovo ideapad Z510 (built-in battery) using windows 10 and Lenovo vantage is installed. How can i perfom a gauge battery reset please? The problem i'm facing now is that the battery percentage isn't accurate, it stucks at a percentage for example 99% , so the system doesn't recognise that the battery drains and suddenly it dies !! without any alerts or keeping my work as well !!i tried the firmware update tool but it keep saying that no updates for attached battery. And i searched alot about how to perform a gauge reset but nothing available for this version of lenovo vantage. I also tried charging in BIOS mode for 10 mins and discharging for another 10 and repeating this process 3 times but nothing changed. So please any help!
