I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My S540 takes quite a long time to start booting. The boot process in itself, once started, is fast as it should be, but before the lenovo logo and the spinning circle appears it takes 30 seconds where the screen is on but black (only the background light is on). this problem is OS independent, it was the same when windows 7 was installed, right now win 10, the original build, is installed. Maybe related: I cannot upgrade to win 10 anniversary. After the reboot which should start the upgrade, the notebook is in the state described above for around 2 minutes and then shows the blue troubleshooting page. when you click "continue booting into windows 10" it does this without installing the anniversary update (win 10 1067). S54016GB RAMSSD Samsung Evo 1TBbitlocker encrypted (using the hardware encryption of the SSD)

Hello everybody, I have a thinkpad S540 with an Intel Wireless-N 7260 since 1 year ago. As it happens with another users, sometimes the wifi does not work apropriately (the connection cannot be established), and I have to reboot to fix the problem. I have updated to WIndows 10, installed the lastest Intel Wireless drivers and the issue is not fixed. Besides, I noticed that my laptop has not wifi-ac (5 Ghz) capabilities. Therefore, my questions are the following: 1) Is it possible to replace the internal intel Wireless-N 7260 card for a faster -and more reliable- Wifi-ac card?(I have noticed that the user manual explain how to replace the intel Wireless-N 7260 card, but I assume that it means replacing a damaged card by another equal wireless-n 7260 card) 2) In replacement parts of lenovo S540 I have found the following Wifi card:"PN: 04X6010 2 Intel Wilkins Peak 2 7260 2*2 11ac+BT4.0 HMC Module".Can I replace the internal wireless-n card by this one? Will it fit on my laptop? Must I add an additional antenna for 5 GHz band? How? 3) In internet seems to be another 3rd-party solutions more cheaper than PN 04x6010. Do you recomend some of them realiable for me? 4) If replacing is not feasible due to the lack of an 5 GHz antenna, another solution is to replace my intel wifi-n card by another more realible one (but also wifi-n). Can you recommend to me some realiable and that will fit on my S540 with no problems (neither in ha... Read more

Hi, I had an accident with my laptop and althought they fixed it for some reason one of the two word files I was working on is lost. I dont know if may be in my panic I saved one over the other but the two recovery (.tmp files) that Windows created are both different versions of just one file. I tried to access previous versions but although that option is ON on my laptop there are no previous versions of these files (although I've worked on them for several days). Please help! Is there any other way I can try and restore the second file as well?

Hello, Since two weeks my Lenovo Thinkpad screen flickers on the right side and on boot up or recover from stand by. This becomes pretty annoying and I have updated all the drivers and also upgrading to Windows 10 didn't work neither. The warranty was due June this year, so I don't know that if I have to repair it that it will cost money. But I think it's strange for a screen to be broken in one year and 3 months. If you perhaps know a solution for this or know how it will be handled by Lenovo if I send it away for repairs please tell me. Yours faithfully, Joost Kolkhuis Tanke

Hello everyone There have been plenty of threads about poor wifi performance on Lenovo S540.  But this is a new story. It is not poor, it is unhealthily terrible. I purchased S540 in summer 2014 and yes, wifi was weak but tolerable. Around 1 month ago, without a notice and without any intervention from my side, it became unhealthily weak. I mean it, 1 meter from router is more or less fine (three bars out of five), 2 meters  - weak and unstable, 3 meters - it doesn't even see the network. No barriers between router and laptop, of course The problem is not with router. That's because I tried two different routers, two different ISPs (and iphone hotspot just in case)- same story in every instance. Also, other devices in my family - laptops, smartphones and tablets - work just fine with existing wifi network. The problem is not with specific wifi card. I replaced wifi card (Intel N 7260) with the new one (nb. and probably lost guarantee by that) but nothing changed at all. The problem is not with software. I have all latest drivers and BIOS, and I also tested the problem under Windows 10 and under Ubuntu liveUSB - absolutely same symptoms, 3 meters from router = no wifi networks seen. P.S. LAN internet works perfectly fine, problem is only with wifi. From the above testings I conclude that problem is with hardware, but not wifi card - is it possibe? I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas on how I should... Hello dear Lenovo Community,my first problem is Wifi connection. I nearly get no Signal. If i am sitting 2 meters away from the router i have 1 bar and if i put it directly onto the router i get 3/4 bars. In my room it doesn't find any wifi at all. I heard this is a common issue so there might be a fix for that.My next problem is the boot process. It shows me the Thinkpad Logo for like 5-8 seconds before it even starts to boot. I've tried erasing the ssd, updating the bios and resetting the bios to defauls. Nothing helped.

A:2 Thinkpad S540 Problems

Welcome to the CommunityRegarding the wifi issue. Are you able to disassemble the laptop (remove base cover)? The wlan antennas wires can be routed with too sharp angles, this decreases the sensitivity dramatically. Just reroute them, straighten the angles. Also, check out the wires connectivity correctness.

Greetings! I have i thinkpad s540 i7 version which I aquired from a friend who said it was broken and he did not know how to fix it. I noticed the battery was not working so I assumed it was dead and replaced it with a new one. The new battery is recognized by windows 10 but is not charging. I got an error message saying it is depleted and needs replacing, even if its brand new (<1 % wear level) If I disconnect the AC power, the computer dies immediately. It does not start on battery power either. This is also independent of OS (tried with linux and nothing at all). Lenovo settings app is installed and reporting the battery in poor condition. (98.98% of full capacity). The sleep and hibernate function is untrustworthy at best. Although the USB is set to be able to wake the device, after a few hours this is not the case (the computer is connected to an external keyboard, mouse and monitor. I would like to be able to start the computer fra the keyboard since it is kinda a hassle to reach the power button. Often when I want to resume after sleep, it makes sounds as if it is already on but nothing happens ("i" in thinkpad logo flashes softly) and a hard reset is necessary to restart it. other symptoms include fn key LED and mute LED is always on. The buttons are functional but the LEDs remain on at all times. These symptoms is leading me to believe that something in the power management control is bad (hardware side). A:No Wifi after Re-Install of Windows 10 at my Lenovo ThinkPad T410

Hello and welcome,

I believe that Gobi card is a WWAN card, not the wifi card.  Have a look around Device Manager for a wifi card - maybe as an unknown device.

Also make sure the switch (on the left front?) is turned on

Hello,I have 2 Lenovo laptops at home:- E530 + Win7 64bits + Intel Wireless N 2230 => wifi signal is excellent- S540 + Win7 64bits + Intel Wireless N 7260 => wifi signal is really weak Till 2 weeks ago, S540 was working as well as E530, I didn't have any issues with my wifi. But now S540 shows a poor signal strength and is unable to connect unless I put it 2 meters from the router, whereas my E530 can connect even outside the building on that same router. I have no idea about what could have changed between before and now, the only thing I know is that I perform regular driver updates (I have Intel wifi driver v17.0.2.5), that I had a bluetooth mouse connected there till I lost it 4 weeks ago and that the warranty expired 1 month ago...Is the N7260 hardware damaged or is it a "simple" configuration problem ?Can you help me please ? Thanks

Hi Ogioto, welcome to the forums.

I don't have that machine, but I think that the best way to know about this is to go to the support site of this model, and check under "Documentation" the Hardware Maintenance Manual.

Here I found it.  Check it out to see if it gives you a better idea on what does machine has on the inside.

There is also the system service parts documents that helps you see a ripped off view of the machine.

I hope this helps.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

Hi guys,I have a laptop which is a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 model running on Window 10 Pro OS. It is a Core i3-3110M CPU @2.40GHz 8GB RAM 64-bit OS. My issue is :WLAN / WiFi keeps going ON and OFF every now and then. The WiFi once connected keeps connecting and disconnecting every minute and it sometimes take forever to reconnect back. I will need to right-click on the WiFi Symbol at the bottom right and click on 'Troubleshoot problems' to recover from this issue. Once recovered, it disconnects again. Some Observations :The issue could be because of the conflict between the Bluetooth drivers and the WiFi drivers. If Bluetooth is disabled then the WiFi works correctly. There will be no problems regarding the WiFi getting disconnected. These are the following details of the hardwares and their respective driver versions. Network : Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless -N 2230Driver Version : 15.18.0.1Driver Date : 30-04-2015  Bluetooth : Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)Driver Version : 18.1.1525.1445Driver Date : 18-06-2015 I have no idea why these two are causing this issue, but I really need to fix this. And it has been atleast a year since I bought this laptop and it has been showing this problem since 4 - 5 months back. Please let me know if there is a work around for this. Hi everyone! I own the Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 laptop for 2-3 years and I have several troubles with WiFi since the time I have upgraded to Windows 10 months ago, but it has became quite urgent since the new year. After re/starting laptop or start from the sleep mode, I got disconnected. First half hour I have to deal with highly volatile and unstable connection trying to switch some settings with devmgmt.msc Well, what happens:WiFi turning on/off randomly, the same with WiFi driver (WiFi icon is replaced with PC plugin with red cross)The WiFi turning on/off button randomly disables or dissapears at allIf WiFi is turned on, no networks are foundIf I finally connect to a network, the connection becomes limited or disables in a momentThe WiFi panel has unpredictable behaviour, such as changing height to 100px approximately and I have to scroll, or starts connecting to a network even it's not checked to connect automaticallyWhenever the connection is lost or limited, the Google Chrome freezes and stops responding (its default behaviour?)What I have tried? As I have mentioned above, the playing with devmgmt.msc gives me usually a solution in lots of minutes, I have found on this website the advices about switching the 802.11n Channel from 20MHz to Automatically and vice versa. Sometimes works temporarily, sometimes for the rest of the day (or until I shut the laptop down, the following day my struggles go on..)Turning the WiFi off and on, but I am afraid ... Read more

i have Lenovo thinkpad e531 x64 win 8

I just got new speed internet and when I connect my computer using ethernet it's signifiantly slower than wireless on the same laptop.

On my other laptop the wired produces very fast results (faster than wifi) so the problem is my laptopr's ethernet connection.

what can i do?

My ISP provider came with his working laptop, pluging in my ethernet cable in his laptop and the internet speed it was 300mb/s.
and on my laptop is 17 mb/s....

I'm using:
- WinXP Pro (in French, so I hope everything below is properly translated)
- Trendnet 802.11g Wifi card

My desktop PC is connected to my ADSL modem via a Wifi card. Everything works fine except for continuous disconnections.

- Windows sends a popup (from the Wireless network connection icon in the taskbar) telling me it's lost connections:
"One or more wireless networks are unavailable"
I then dclick on the icon and get the "Wireless network connection" window, click on "connect" and I can surf again. This happens quite often, every 10 minutes or so.

- Everytime I restart my pc, I need to go to "Start" => "Configuration Panel" => "Network Connections" => "Wireless Networks Connection" => "Properties" => go to the "Wireless Network Configuration" tab and select "Use Windows to configure my wireless network" option.
If I don't do this I can't connect to the internet.

I've tried the following troubleshooting:
- Turned off all appliances, just leaving the PC and Wifi Modem running to see if there are any interferences. This didn't solve the problem.
- Changed Channels. Didn't help
- The Signal is excellent (in the 80%)

I don't know what else to do.

Thanks.

Hello community,I registered here to find someone who can help me out. I own a Lenovo Y500. I updated the system in August 16 from win 8.1 to win10 without having any kind of issues. The whole system ran perfectly for almost 6 months.2 weeks ago win10 did one of its "standard" updates and since then I have extreme problems concerning my laptop. 1.win 10 says the latest update Windows 10 Version 1607 für x64-basierte Systeme (KB3200970) couldn't be installed properly so the installation process was stopped. I should do a restart. If I do so, the update gets downloaded again and win10 tries to install it again but AGAIN it wont work. That means I'm literally cought in some kind of update bubble 2. because of this failed update my USB drivers wont work anymore. Win10 says that INTEL driver update for Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SMBus Host Controller - 1E22 failed, so all my USB devices dont work anymore, except my XBox controller 3. My office 2010 version refused to work after the failed update, the systems tells me that I dont have the correct product key but this is not too important for me. Using Libre instead. I already searched the net for a solution but nothing helped.I tried to install the Intel USB drivers using the INTEL Driver Update Utility but it didnt work, i also tried to install the driver right from the Intel hompage and it said my system doesnt fullfill the minimum requirements for the installation of the software... ...
