I'm having issue restoring my laptop to factory new. I do i have hp disk with the purchase with my laptop, however i have no idea how to restore the laptop to factory new with the disk.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

no disk was provided at purchase and a user set admin password. Must get in to restore to original settings upon purchase. The F11 key for restore is not available when esc key is pressed during start up.How do I get inside this computer???
[Personal Information Removed]
Hi, See if you can remove the Admin Password - see Here. When done, try option 1 in my previous post. Otherwise, the only other options are to order Recovery Disc, or if notebook came with Windows 7, try the following. There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need. If you have access to this, just use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations. http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx Any additional drivers you may need can be found starting Here. Hello! Please help solve the problem, I have HP ProBook 4540s Notebook (product: H5J85EA), there is a need vocstanovit operating system with built-in restoration, but there is a problem - it some service areas previously reinstalled the operating system by hand and have been cleaned, but the section with the image operatsioonoy system (HP_RECOVERY, HP_TOOLS) nebyli removed. Tried to use HP Cloud Recovery but there is a choice to download the image is given only to Windows 7 Pro, and I was originally running Windows 8 Pro.How can I restore operation restore by pressing F11, or how to install HP Recovery Manager that would restore the licensed version of the image has already been under set of Windows?Sorry for my English, I use a translator.
Unfortunately, the recovery media is not a downloadable product. If the notebook is older than three years, the recovery media is no longer maintained in inventory nor sold by HP. If the recovery partition was deleted, then recovery by pressing F11 and using the recovery manager is no longer a viable option. Which language do you need for the Windows 8.1 ISO? Is it Russian? I am basing that on the product number you provided. Try the following Microsoft global website to download a Windows 8.1 ISO.https://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/software-download/windows8Read other 2 answers

Your mother-in-law will need to contact HP support to resolve the issue. She might have to send it to an HP Service Center to get this issue resolved. Enterprise class notebooks have very stringent security implementations. They are not at all like consumer class products.Read other 1 answers
I have a ProBook 4430s running Windows 7 64-bit. A year ago I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows 10. Prior to performing this upgrade I was able to access my 5G wifi connection. After the upgrade I was no longer able to find this connection. I was only able to find the 2.4g band. I researched the issue and it seemed that I needed to find and install an upgraded wifi driver. After much more research and trying different drivers I was unable to accomplish my desired goal. I finally decided to bag Win10 and go back to Win7. I reinstalled Win7 64-bit. However, I am still unable to find the 5G band. My next step seems to be to try to recover the laptop to factory settings and see if that fixes the issue. However, I can't seem to find the factory reset. Can anyone offer assistance on one of the two following options? 1. Running the factory reset program.2. Alternatives on finding the right driver or method of turning the 5G wifi band back on. Thanks much Doug [email protected]
Hello @Doug_Harding Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting. This is a public forum visible for the entire world. Please, edit your comment to remove your personal email from your post to avoid issues with fake emails/spammers/etc. If you want to return the PC to factory default condition and if you never created your own HP recovery media, you will have to use original HP recovery media. In order to use the correct kit, it is very important to find your product number (PN) - here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108 Write the PN down. After that, please, visit this 3rd party company's website >> http://www.computersurgeons.com/search.aspx?searchterm=4430s and search for the correct recovery media based on your product number. i have a HP Probook 4520s (now out of warranty) and i want to bring the same to factory condition bcoz of virus issues.
Now, on various forums i read there is an option of F11 for recovery manager, which is not working in my case.
1) In Disk management I can see my recovery partition (15 gb) but with no option of making it active.
2) My recovery partion is more like a folder in C: HP_RECOVERY_mountHPSF
What can be the best way to restore to the factory condition. This is a legitimate Windows 7 copy and therefore i do not want to install some other copy, also there could be issues with drivers and all.
I would really appreciate if the forum members can help me in resolving the issue.

Attempted to up-date to Windows 10. Couldn't do it. Microsoft (MS) Tech tried to do it and couldn't do it. It seems there are some security tools that must be removed as they are incompatable with Windows 10. MS tried to remove and couldn't do it. He said they were on the mother board and when he tried to remove them they just kept coming back so once again he couldn't do it. He said contact HP and they could do it. Unable to find anybody at HP that can do it. As you can see nobody can do it so I guess it just cannot be done. That is unless some fine person out there has discovered a way to do it. I am just wondering whether I can put a eGPU on my HP Probook 4540s to play some of the more modern games and some of the games that are a few years old now on something like high to ultra graphics. I'm thinking something along the line of a NVIDIA GTX 960 or 970ish. I actually even found some GeForce GTX 1050's at a cheaper price so is there a way I could connect something like that to this laptop. It would be cheaper then trying to save for an actual gaming rig at this time. Thank you for any replies its much appreciated.Read other answers

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until a half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging. When plugging in the power cord (that came with the ProBook when I bought it around 18 months ago), the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times. I've tried following this fix I found on Google: 1. Turn off the notebook2. remove the battery3. remove the charging adapter4. press + hold the power button for 40 seconds5. insert the charging adaptor only6. press the power button and it supposedly continues but I get stuck at this point, because even plugged in, my ProBook won't start up without the battery in also. Is this a know problem/is there a fix for this?

I have a new ProBook 4540s notebook that I shut down over the weekend. I am not sure if I put it into hibernate, sleep, or what as I am still getting use to it. When I tried to turn it on (not plugged in) I got nothing. So I plugged in the power cord and hit the power button again. All it did was the LED above the cord plug blinked about 8 times and nothing else. I let it "charge" overnight and tried again in the morning. Nothing but a blinking LED. I Googled the problem and it said to take the battery out, unplug, and hold the power button down for 20 seconds. I plugged it back in but left the battery out, and still the same thing - flashing LED. HELP! Thanks.

My laptop is running Windows 10 64-bit.
For the past few weeks my laptop has been turning off unexpectedly.
I've tried with battery only. With battery and power cable and with battery removed and only power cable.
I am using the machine normally and then screen just goes black and power offs - no restart, no hibernation, no shut down. Just instantaneously off.
It's not overheating. Could it be a fan issue?
I don't know - but it's getting quite irritating as I often have many apps open and many files open on each app and takes me 30 mins to get back to where I left off.
Is this the same problem as the thread you have posted or is it a different one.

I understand that your touchpad will freeze.
Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
As you power it back on tap the F2 key. This will load hardware diagnostics.
Run the startup test.
This will test all the hardware in the system and detect any problems.
If the entire test passes, turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.

I want to restore my acer aspire but there's one problem
I keep all my music and pictures on my D drive and not the default C drive
this is because my C drive eats its own space so I kept my personal stuff on my D drive but now that I want to restore it to factory settings
if I leave my personal stuff on that drive will they be wiped?
should I move them all back to my C drive and then factory reset it
and also is it Alt+F10 I want to make sure there's not much information about this on the internet for this laptop, I don't need to worry about programs because I know where to download them all again i'm just worried about my pictures which can't be replaced and all my music which I can't get back.
you can get all the information underneath here about my laptop
I did try and system restore it but for some reason there's no shadow system restore copies on my laptop
there was a few days ago but there's non atall now
this is the first time it's ever done this.
Honestly if there is anything that you cant afford to lose then back it up to cd/dvd/external drive.
I wouldn't imagine that the d drive would be touched but you can never guess what goes through the minds of some system manufactures when they set systems up.

i would like to restore my laptop(Compaq Presario V2000) back to factory settings. my uncle gave me his old LT when he bought a new one. he did not have any recovery CD's and the built in ones had already been created and therefore i can not burn my personal copy of recover cd's from the LT itself. i have recently had a battle of serious viruses, trojans, and etc. my last battle i was receiving help to rid the backdoor rootkit(i think it was a rootkit) Zero.Access. i was instructed to use the combofix app. once it ran and attempted to reboot i had completely lost access to my KYBD and mouse(pad) on 12/12/11. still using the help i was told to run combofix again on the 14th in which a restore point was made along the registry restore. i was told 2days ago to run a registry restore within combofix to try to get the kybd and mouse working. the restore point created is not on the date in which the problem occurred. i was then instructed to do a sys restore before using combofix which was on the 12th. there are several restore points for the month of december as well as 3points before the 12th and one point on the 12th. i have tried to access all of those points but my computer will not let me gain access to the sys restore. i have tried to do the restore in safe mode with no luck. i would just like to start over and do clean sweep of the LT but i dont have any disc. i was wondering if there is a way to do this.
The first thing to check is whether you can restore your computer from a restore partition on the hard drive.
If that doesn't work, and depending on how old your computer is, you may be able to buy recovery discs. Have you seen this page?
i have an acer aspire T180, the boot manager is compressed, i have a repair disk but i cant scroll down to change the boot priorities. so now im trying a factory restore by using alt and F10, wen i click on restore to factory settings it asks for a password, ive tried six zeros and an administrators password already, really dont know wat else to do, help would be much appreciated
If you remove the CMOS battery from your motherboard (the little shiny silver battery about the size of a nickel) and leave it out for about a minute, it'll clear your passwords. However, it'll also clear out any custom settings you had set in your BIOS as well. However, it should let you get past the issue with the admin password.
Just for grins and giggles, did you just hit ENTER without entering a password? If you didn't set up a password to begin with, you may just need to press ENTER and be in business. Try that first.
Let me know.
Hey guys, newcomer here
Anyways, I've had a Toshiba Laptop for a while now with Windows 7. Over time, I've installed lots of software I don't really need. So now, my computer is pretty slow to start up and the general speed has had a significant drop. So instead of taking time to uninstall all the programs I don't need (which will still probably leave me with lots of dead links and a very messy registry), I decided it would be better to just do a clean install. However, being the cheap dudess Laptop manufacturers usually are, Toshiba has not provided me with a Windows 7 install disk, and being the lazy guy I am, I did not create a system restore disk when I got the Laptop. I looked at the Microsoft backup programs, but my restore points only go a few months back. If I don't find a way to start with a clean state on Windows 7, I may just have to dig up that old XP CD
TL;DR: I need a way to restore Windows 7 to the point as if it was just after a fresh install without a Windows 7 CD or prior system images/recovery points.
Thanks all, cheers!
