moving outlook express emails to outlook 2016 365

Q: moving outlook express emails to outlook 2016 365

I have a friend who just purchased a Windows 10 laptop.

It came with Office 365.

She has for many year been using Outlook Express in Windows XP.

She wants to move all of her outlook express emails (and sub folder of the Inbox) to the Outlook program on the new windows 10 computer.

Is this possible ??

I have succeed in getting her address book exported and imported but cannot find any info or instructions on how to move the emails and folders.

I do remember that some years back I did a transfer from outlook express XP email to a Windows 7 computer running outlook. But I seem to remember having to have some kind of special software to make this possible.

Can anyone tell me if I am wasting my time or is this transfer a possibility ?

She really does not want to give up all of her old emails.

Thanks in advance,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am stuck....

We got one of the girls a new computer here in our office that had Outlook Express 6.

Her new machine has the full MS Office package with full Outlook.

I tried to use the import / export function to move emails and contacts etc. through our network to the new computer but, no luck. I keep getting error messages saying I don't have permission go into the Program Files directory on the old computer to transfer the data even though I set that dir up for sharing.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this?

Many thanks,

I use OE 6 on my desktop running XP pro, but use Outlook 2007 on my laptop running XP home. I cannot receive attachments sent from my Outlook 2007 to my OE 6 when I send it to myself. They are stripped off, not even showing an attachment. The attachment comes through to other recipients as far as I know, INCLUDING my alternate email address (through at&t). So OE 6 receives the attachment when I send it from my default email account to my at&t account, but not when I send it to from and to my default account. I have checked with my email provider, who has checked the server (IMAP) and they do not see any problem--the attachment is on the server. I have already unchecked all potential blocks under the Security Tab--image blocking and attachment blocking--and am operating in the Internet Zone. And, as far as I know, I am receiving attachments from everyone else in the world. I know there are ways to work around this problem, but it is irritating and I have concerns that my email attachments to clients may be unknowingly blocked. Also, I cannot receive those attachments on my Blackberry either.

I'm going to post what I just realized after moving from Outlook Express to Outlook and how my Western Digital Passport Elite (probably most external backups) handled it.

I installed Windows 7 this week, feeling confident that everything was backed up. I manually moved everything back when the install was done. When I moved my email, only early 2008 and earlier showed up, which was about the time I moved from Outlook Express to Outlook. Since the file structure is different, my WD backup did not back up anything in Outlook, including all email, folders, contacts, tasks, my ENTIRE life!

My backup plan was set to back up Outlook Express mail, it wasn't smart enough to back up my new .pst files which is what Outlook uses. You can't change a backup plan once it's set up. I could have created a new backup plan to add Outlook. It should have, but it never crossed my mind that my external backup wasn't getting my email backed up when I started using Outlook. I'm sure many people have been bitten by this.

Maybe if someone reads this, it'll save them from losing all email, contacts, tasks, folders, etc. Moral of the story - when you start using Outlook from Outlook Express, change your back up plan on your external HD to include Outlook.

The equivalent to outlook express is live mail not outlook.com,
Once you download and install a new default email program you'll be able to move the express information to live mail,
Then if you want to connect live mail to a on line service like outlook.com you can,
Live mail is one of many features included in Windows essentials 2012,

Download a email program,
You can also use a service like Thunder bird,

I have a client that has to regularly move emails from his inbox to a PST on his company shared drive. Moving files under 100kbs seem fine but this client needs to regularly move emails upwards of 5Mbs in size to his PST on the share. When he does move these files his outlook gets hung up to the point of completely freezing everything on his computer just to move the email. It can take upwards of 10-20 minutes to move one file.

The troubleshooting I have performed:
-I tried setting his network adapter to 100 Mbs Full Duplex, didn't appear to do anything
-Speed test his connection, he is running about 1.2-1.5 Mb down and 1.5+ Upload, so no issue there.
-I tested moving a 15Mb file to his shared drive, this seemed to be uploading fine, after a minute or 2 it was nearly half done, so this leads me to believe the issue is more pertaining to outlook.
-I then killed his outlook profile, recreated him a new one and remapped the PSTs.
-Had him test moving files again, and the same issue is still occurring.
-The client also reports this was not always an issue and had recently started happening.

At this point I am stuck and would like any advise anyone may have to offer for a solution.

Having all sorts of problems.

Finally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file".

Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.

I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.

When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:

Have one combined inbox
Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox
Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit

Am I dreaming or just screwing something up? Any help greatly appreciated!

A:how do i get emails from outlook express 6 into outlook 2007?

I don't use Outlook, but I'd think the general procedure would be to:

1: Export from Outlook Express to location X

2: Open Outlook, use the import function, and navigate to location X.

Is that what you are doing?

Can you export in more than 1 format? If so, try another format.

It's also a good idea to make manual copies of all of your Outlook Express files (dbx, etc) in case your corrupt the originals during the export/import process.

Email export and import functions haven't improved in the last 10 years, so welcome to reality. I hate changing email programs for that reason.

There are applications out there designed to convert DBX to PST, but I don't know if they are required.

My Sent Items and Inbox folders became filled with emails on Tuesday and I was unable to send or receive emails until I removed several thousand old emails from both folders (which I did, then the system was running fine again as of late Tuesday). I discovered this problem when I attempted to send 3 emails with attachments, making the emails around 5 megabytes each in size (I did not realize that the recipient's system could not handle any email more than 2 megabytes - thus, my Outlook Express kept trying to send these emails every 1 minute for 3 hours until I discovered the problem). I had to delete around 100 email notifications that the recipient could not receive emails at that size and that my email boxes were full.

I corrected these problems and relocated the emails from my Outlook Box to Drafts (until the recipient can change his settings).

I can see the emails being sent out by outlook on my computer (computer accessing smtp and sending them when outlook is open... sending 1 of 1823). I cleaned the PST, created a new PST and copied my inbox into it. I did a malwarebytes scan, antirootkit scan, adw, found nothing at all.
I was receiving tons of chinese spam, blacklisted the domains from China, but I'm at a loss at how to make the stupid outlook stop sending spam by itself. How does it do it?
Edit: closed outlook, renamed pst, opened outlook, created new empty pst, it's still trying to send 1800 emails....
Edit2: Ok so I went to the webmail, there was still 1000+ mails there in chinese, deleted those, blocked 126.com/163.com/qq.com in the admin panel, then on the computer, I flushed the Outlook Files and recreated the PST.... in the admin panel, it shows 0 sent for today... which is good....
Why am I (seemingly) not detecting any infection if I (was) sending spam? I confirmed that the IP from which the emails were sent was the office's IP... and there's only two computers here and only one with this account... and I physically SAW outlook trying to send loads of emails... I also reset the password...

Hi Lenovo community, I would like to know if any of you are experience the following issue.  I just purchased a brand new Lenovo X380 Yoga notebook. After multiple trial and errors of freshly setting up an Outlook 2016 profile with a new .ost file, the behavior I noticed is that receiving new emails will NOT appear within seconds or minutes.  It will actually not appear even after 30 minutes.   The mailbox has about 40GB worth of emails.  What I did notice was that when the Exchange cache mode was set to 3 months, then the new emails were seen in a timely manner.  The workaround is to close Outlook and then re-open.  This has to be done very often.  This mailbox account works fine on an X240 system.  I was working with a simliar setup of Outlook 2016 profile on a Lenovo T480 system and didn't have this issue.  The mailbox size of that user account was also 40GB.  With this setup, the Exchange cache mode was left at 1 yr or All.Any repsponse of feedback would be appreciated.Thank you

I am working in a small office with three computers. They all have outlook 2013 and are connected to the same email address using POP (we are changing to IMAP soon, not sure if any of that is important). There are many folders created to categorise the many emails we send and receive. Just today on only one of the computers approximately 200 of the sent emails from the various folders have been moved back into the sent folder. As far as we know no one has touched anything.

These are not duplicates.

Why did this happen (and why only to one computer)?

Is there any way of reversing it without manually putting them into the folders again?

So I recently graduated from university, and the email account I was using through the campus server will now have the word "alumni" added to the domain address. It will only have a 50 MB capacity, meaning it can keep all the email it has in it but cannot receive anything if it's over. I have many important emails I'd really like to keep, and so I asked our IT technicians for help. What they did was select a Rule (through Options on Microsoft Outlook Web Access) which is the following: Forward email -- "apply this rule after the message arrives with my name in the To or Cc box and forward it to [email protected]"

So far it's been great - but the only thing is, it only forwards any new mail that enters my box AFTER the rule was selected. Obvious I know, but I was also hoping the solution would somehow move past mail. Is there something that would enable me to move all of this (it's a lot), or would I have to do all of this manually?

I don't mind having to do it manually, but it would always be nice to have an easier option. Thanks in advance! Would appreciate any answers!

I've decided to make my laptop my main computer so my wife can use the desktop so I tried moving my emails and contacts the way I always do; I copy my 'outlook' file from the desktop and paste it into the default location on the laptop after removing the original 'outlook' file.
I've done this lotsa times, normally I move the location onto my D drive so I can back it up easier but this time it didn't work.
I also tried 'importing' them but that didn't work either, everything imported except my IN folder. I've been fiddling around with it and now have the laptop back to where it started with just it's original Personal folder, but now I have 2 Personal folders which are both empty.

I have both incoming and outgoing emails sent to multiple people. Most are filtered into one subfolder because they all apply to the same group project. Email can be incoming/outgoing from one or more of this list of people, so I set up rules for each person to filter into this one subfolder.

The rule says "move" to subfolder.
I want Outlook to move the email at the first rule.
Outlook applies all rules to that one email, not simply the first one.
I end up with five or six of the same email in that one subfolder.
For example, I could get email from Person X, Person Y, or Person Z. Or from Persons X & Y, Persons X & Z, or Person Y and someone not yet listed. Each email needs to be moved to the one subfolder once, not once for each person.

All instructions on how to make or apply rules imply or state that the rules are applied in a specific order. Why else would there be instructions on how to change the order in which they are applied?

I have placed my rules in order, rearranged the order, deleted and started over (over 100 rules) going very slowly and verifying every variable. "Move" still doesn't move until all possible rules are applied.

What setting do I need to set to get the *bleepin* software to move an email to a subfolder once and only once? Easiest way is to go to www.majorgeeks.com and download one of the many file transfer programs they offer. Nearly all cost money, but they work for free for a week. They are rated so you can pick a decent one... they will automatically download all the related files to enable you to save them to disc... then will recover them on the new computer. Sorry I don't remember the names, but they will be in something like Mail Utilities... Also, there is a superb one on www.tucows.com that costs $30, but is free for the first few days.

Hello referee07;

Copy your .pst file from your old computer to the new one or your portable hard drive.

To launch the Outlook 2010 Export/Import wizard, first go to File menu, navigate to Open, and click Import.

In the Import And Export wizard, select Import from another program or file option and hit Next

Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next

Now choose the file to import, select the options, and hit Next

Once done, finally select the folder to import from(if you want to import complete data don’t change any settings) and make sure Include subfolders is checked. You can either import the file to the current folder or choose the folder.

Hope this helps!

Hi jacjon

If you want to be able to access those messages in the future, it would be best to save the messages in the .eml format.

The fastest way to do that without a third party program is to drag the messages outside of Outlook Express.
Create a folder on the Desktop and open it, in Outlook Express switch over to the folder of messages you want to "Archive".
If you want to save all the messages in that folder, select one message then press ctrl + A to select all messages.
Left click on the selected messages and hold down button, drag the messages out of Outlook Express onto the folder button on the Taskbar. The folder should appear, drag the messages up into the folder and now release the mouse button.

The messages will be saved as .eml files and any message with the same subject will have a number appended to its file name.

Any message that you don't want in Outlook Express will then need to be deleted.

I was pleased to see this but I have two problems.

The copied emails are listed by the subject line only which is not a great help in identifying them. I have a large number under "how are you?" and "order processed" etc. when I hoped I would get a direct copy of the originals i.e. who they are from, subject line, date.

So I changed my Outlook Express security settings and was able to move into mail message as an attachment which I sent to myself. This message came back but I am still unable to open all these messages and send to my Outlook Express "sent" folder. I need some help as many of these messages are important to me.

If no one has a better solution, there are 3rd party programs that solve the problem. I don't know of any free ones. If you didn't try it, search *.dbx.

I have been having troubles getting my emails.
I do PTR and am not receiving all the emails they send me. This is recent.
I will have about 50 emails in the site inbox, but only about 6 come through to my Outlook Express.
I have the free versions of AVG and Zone Alarm.
I have talked with my ISP and they said there are no new SPAM filters and everything is fine on their end.
It is happening with several different programs. There is one yahoogroup I belong to and I don't seem to be having any trouble getting those mails.
I ran Spybot a few days back and had trouble with it after using the immunize function.
I don't know what other information you might need, that is all I can think of.
Please help.

A:Not getting all emails with Outlook Express

You might just have a view settings problem. Try view, current view then make sure show all messages is highlighted and not something else.

Same emails clogging my OE.
5-6 of the same emails are coming in.
How do I stop this?

A:(Outlook Express 6) 5 -6 Same emails

There is a few ways.

Block the senders.

Click the message (DO NOT OPEN E-MAIL OR ATTACHMENTS) the go up to message, block sender.

Get a program to do it.
I personally don't like them but I know many people here use them and they work.

I am trying to retrieve emails from outlook express from 2004 without the old harddrive. Is this possible?

A:outlook express emails

Hi jonahmikey

If the messages are on the old hard drive, the answer is No. You must have the source containing the data you want to recover.

If this has been posted already then I spologise for my repeat query, but here it is.

My friend has a laptop running Windows 2000, with OE6 running on it. Everything was working fine until Windows downloaded a new update, at which point all of his internet explorer favorites were gone and all outlook settings were back to default. No messages, contacts, nothing.

The user profiles in Documents and Settings also differ. Before, there was one profile for his account, John. Now, there's also John.E500. I have imported the emails and contacts back from his old profile to the new one, and the internet favorites, and everything worked fine.

Now, he called me this morning and said the problem had occurred again, all emails and contacts lost. Could someone who knows about OE6 please give me some advice on how to stop this from occurring?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
