Need a stable plugin or codec for Windows Media Player 10 for Real Player web content

Q: Need a stable plugin or codec for Windows Media Player 10 for Real Player web content

Does anyone know if there's a stable plugin or codec for Windows Media Player 10, to play Real Player files streamed from the web? Thx for any help.

Preferred Solution: Need a stable plugin or codec for Windows Media Player 10 for Real Player web content

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi: I was trying to record from a radio station a recording of someone I know who has written a music piece and by mistake I saw urge and downloaded the program. When I realized I did not want this program, I deleted it. There was a message not to do it--that it would block other users from logging onto the computer (Which is a violation of the anti-trust laws) however, I did not listen and deleted the entire program from the program files. Now I cannot get any music from the radio site and it has blocked real player. MSN should be sued again.HELP!!!

I captured an AVI file from my DVD player using my video card. My Real Player and Windows Media Player won't place this DVD clip. Someone said I need codecs.
1. what are they?
2. where to get them?
3. how to use that to convert the file to some other format?
4. what formats do Real Player and Windows Media Player support?
4a. Is there another downloadable DVD player that will play the AVI file as is?
5. I also tried to burn this AVI file using Nero but when I tried to drag the file to the proper place, I encountered problems. What could be the issue here?
6. I have been told in another forum that my CD burner can burn a DVD file on DVD media if the format is proper. What format is needed? Is this another codec issue? (Nero says it needs AVI and that is what my file is).

Had a lot of trouble after installing Microsoft's DirectX 7a. Could not use DirectDraw, Direct 3D, or any media players: all would result in a page fault (Kernel32.dll @0137:bff7297c).

After over 30 days of troubleshooting, we isolated the conflict to the Vision 95 which has an option of being or not being installed along with the STB Velocity (Virge VX) 3D drivers.

However, BEWARE OF DIRECTX 7a and especially WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!~ I shout because ya need to [email protected]

Windows MEdia Player seems to me to be programmed to seek out any and all other media players (ie. Real Player 7), and mess them up big time. I have a 465 Kb .mpg file. It used to play on Real player BEFORE i put Direct X 7a in. Now, it plays 2.4 seconds of the mpg and quits. Also, a .mov, although it plays in entirety, the sound is ABSOLUTELY RAUCIOUS at all volume settings.

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, both the mpg and mov play REALLY WELL in Windows Media Player.

I did a Add/Remove on Windows Media Player 6.4, and Real Player started having colored lines appearing in the video.

I did a manual uninstall of WMP (delete msdxm.ocx).

No improvement in Real Player.

Deleted Real Player, defrag/scandisk'ed, rebooted, clean install of RP 7, check out the mpg or mov: NO IMPROVEMENT.

DId a find on anything "mediaplayer2" or Windows Media Player, and deleted.

Real player? No Improvement.

I used to play all my mp3 files via Windows Media Player. Those were the good ol' Napster days. Then came Bearshare, for which I downloaded Real Player Basic, and since then it seems, I can't get any audio out of Windows Media Player anymore. It seems to be doing its job and all that happy stuff, you know: opening media libraries, playing mp3 files... only: no audio. Real Player's doing fine, but even my old Napster mp3 files from Napster - heck, even the Bearshare files that work with Real Player! - get zero audio when played in Windows Media. So I figured it's some sort of conflict, you know? That stuff happens. So being the resourceful guy that I am, I tried uninstalling Real Player, (Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs...) but you know what? It's not working. I get a pop up window ("Are you absolutely SURE you wanna lose all yer Real Player stuff? Yes/No" I do "Yes", I get another pop up job ("Uninstalling Real Player") but that's it. You know the blue horizontal bar you get that informs you of how far into the process you are? It doesn't even show up. At this point, nothing goes further. Ctrl/Alt/Delete tells me "Uninstalling Real Player Not Responding". It does that every time. What I want to do is be able to use Windows Media Player again, because I find it more practical than Real Player, only it serves me diddly to have an application running that won't give me the audio it&#... Recently I re-installed XP(probably didn't have to, but that's another story). I finally got my internet connection back and have re-installed my audio files. When I tried to start Musicmatch, I would be prompted that currently there was no music folder. After I "clicked' yes to that, the MM music would come up for a second or 2, as would the MM logo, then everything just quit and nothing. I finally uninstalled MM and re-downloaded it. Now when I try to start it, I get nothing.

I can run my music on Win Media Player, but can't run an entire song without a prompt that Media Player has experienced a problem(of course, when you click that promt, MMP disappears). It also won't play MS format music files.

I also can't get Real One to come up - after about 5 seconds of booting up, I get a prompt that it's encountered an error.

I also can't get Quick Time to come up...I get an "error 2093 message - make sure it's installed in your system."

Again, everything ran fine before reinstalling WXP(from the D drive?). Is there some common driver or something for all these media programs that I might be missing?

For the past several months, or even years, I have idly sat by while this strange behavior, to me, has existed in my browser. I use Mozilla Firefox as my primary browser( The problem is that for some streaming windows content the plug-in player that appears doesn't seem as though it is the proper version. Below is a screenshot of what shows up when I click on a link to a media file associated with that plugin. The copyright date says 1999 which makes me believe that something is out of date. I have already downloaded Windows Media Player 11 but additionally have a K-Lite Codec Pack and WinAmp for local media playback. Also, I should note that in other external applications, such as LyFOX(a program that can stream Yahoo Music videos), I see the same thing; nothing for the most part shows up. - Can someone clarify whether or not that is the correct plugin to see, is it the most updated? If real player and windows media player do the same thing which one is better?

A:Real Player Or Window Media Player

RealPlayer can play most of the formats that WMP can, plus some of it's own (ie formats created by the RealPlayer developer) which WMP can't play.

However, although RealPlayer plays more formats and you need it for some websites which stream audi/video content only in RealPlayer's native formats, It can be somewhat of annoyance when it's installed -- always popping up nag-screens to buy the 'pro' version etc. Something which WMP never does.

In essence, if you want all video and audio formats covered, you need them both. My policy is to manage with Windows Media Player. I just avoid using websites with video/audio content that need RealPlayer.

A:real player or window media player?

Real Player (aka Real Obnoxious) is not the same as Windows Media Player. There are certain files that will only play on Real Player and certain Files that will only play on Windows Media Player.

If you are going to install Real Player I suggest that you print out the instructions here;

refer to the instructions when installing Real Player. Although these instructions are not for the current Real Player version there is still enough in the instructions as what to disable, to keep Real Player usable, but stop it from bugging you all the time.

Is there a comprehensive guide out there somewhere?

An alternative for content?

What I'm thinking to do is disconnect my satellite tv service, but I want to still be able to get some things - hoping to find a source on the net for limited stuff. It's annoying - I see internet tv sites, but when I look closer at them they're trailers, video clips, international stuff, etc. Nothing that comes close to satellite tv or cable tv.

So for some background I basically stream music, pictures and video content from my computer to an Xbox 360 in the lounge room for my family to enjoy. This has worked for quite a long time with Windows 7.

I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview today and got settled in with it and indexed my libraries with Windows Media player so this could resume. But to my dismay this doesn't seem to work in Windows 8.

I have each folder and hard drive shared on windows for network use, I have a little experience from LANs in this area. I have enabled all streaming options in WMP that I know of and the entirety of my library has been fully indexed. This is WMP 12 and everything I possibly know of is up to date.

I haven't got the Homegroup feature active as I never had to use this before.

The only other thing I have noticed that has changed is this. A little green icon that in windows 7 would appear on top of the xboxs, I'm assuming this means something.

On the Xbox end it used to display the Libraries such as 'Recorded TV', 'Music', 'TV Shows', 'Movies' and other things but now when I try to access video content it gives me a folder called 'Videos' which contains nothing.

Does anybody know of any solutions?

I have ripped my DVD collection to a media server, and to save space I only encoded 5.1 audio. I use Rokus and a software package called Roksbox to play the movies on our home theater system and our other TVs.

However, if I try to play them on Windows Media Player on my PC, I get video but no sound. I assume that's because the Media Player can't decode the 5.1 audio track. Is anyone aware of a codec I can install that will let me play 5.1 audio? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I only have two speakers on my PC, but I assume that will still work like it does on our regular TVs (the Rokus on those TVs are set to 5.1 surround even though the TVs only have two speakers).

There are several free codec packs available and installing one of those may help, if that is the problem.

The Klite codec pack is very popular Codec Guide: K-Lite Codec Pack - For XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8

I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled my programs, and now i can't seem to play dvd's in windows media player. It keeps telling me that I don't have a proper codec installed. I didn't have that problem before the wipe. I can play them in roxio media player, but I want to use wmp. Wouldn't xp pro or wmp come with a codec to play dvd's? How was I able to play before? I never downloaded any codec...

you can actually play dvd on your windows media player by installing a dvd decoder. and you can play just any video format by downloading additional codecs. no need to pay any amount and no need to pesent any credit card. if you still haven't downloaded the decoder just email me and you can enjoy watching your dvds

Hi there, i made this video in after fx cs3, export it as an .AVI file and looks great whenever i run it in winamp, windows media player and vlc media player.
But if i switch to media player, quicktime or other video player, it looks bumpy.
But the big issue in here, is that the video is made for a presentation and it will run from a dvd (in which it also looks bumpy), and the dvd is created from a Windows XP machine with SP 1.
Whenever we play the video in this machine it looks bumpy, (burned into the dvd or not).

I run Vista and i have the K-Lite Media COde Pack (latest)

THe other machine (the dvd burner, lets say..) runs Windows Xp and the same K-Lite codec Pack.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue? And sorry, i know the post shouldnt be in here but i couldnt find the proper thread.

Hey all. Thanks for reading. My problem is complicated, but I will try and make this the "Reader's Digest" version of what happened.
It all started when I was trying to load album art into my GoGear mp3 player. I downloaded some program called "Fix Files" which promised to aid me in my album art endeavors. So I ran Fix Files and the first thing it did was it went through my .wma files, song by song (which took about 4 hours), and, for want of better terminology, "recognized" it. After this long process, the program's "free trial" was up and now it wanted money. So I quickly removed the program. I was also messing around with Media Monkey (which I have since removed), all in an effort to get the stupid album art into my mp3 player. I really wish I'd left well enough alone.

ANYWAY, now when I try and play .wma files in Media Player 11 (or try to do anything with them in any program) I get the following error box "Windows media player cannot play this file. The player might not support the file type, or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." I should mention that I do a lot of burning LP's onto my comp as well and save these as .wav files. These play just fine in WMP.

After much research I downloaded "Sherlock The Codec Detective" and ran it. It came back saying that one of my audio codecs is damaged. In the information box it says:

Codec Name: WMPlug
