My Outlook is corrupt and I want to flush Office

Q: My Outlook is corrupt and I want to flush Office

I woke up today to needing a repair tool to fix my Office 365/Outlook. When it finished I lost all my emails from yesterday and any new emails.

I decided to delete and reinstall and it bright back data from any personal file it found.

I know there is a PST folder and I found that but touch it until I heard back from the forum.

I want to total flush any remaining files and start a new download as if it was the first time.

Can that be done?

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and our clients have Office 2010. Our Outlook profiles are created automatically by using Group Policy to set a registry key which points to a PRF file with all the Outlook settings. Lately, many of our users are reporting that their emails are getting stuck in the Outbox. If you look at their Outlook profile, they have two Exchange accounts listed. You cannot delete either of them; it gives a message that this is the default email account.
The immediate solution is to recreate the user's Outlook profile. This allows the stuck email to send. The real issue is that this keeps occurring. Recreating the Outlook profile sometimes fixes the problem for a long time, months maybe. But other times the problem occurs the next day. This is happening with users who have established Outlook profiles as well as new users logging into their PCs for the first time. I've attached the code from our PRF. Any help is appreciated, as we have around 400 active users and we're constantly chasing after this issue.

A:Outlook 2010 Email Stuck in Outbox; Corrupt Outlook Profile

Couple steps you may apply...
1. Repair the offline file with a Microsoft utility called SCANOST.exe. I’ve seen this file reside in a number of different locations, mainly within Program Files. It might be best to search for it with Windows or Google Desktop. SCANPST.exe will also work, though you’ll have to go digging for your outlook.ost, which should be near c:\Documents and Settings\ %profile%\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook\ outlook.ost. If your file is significant in size, you’ll save a lot of time with the repair operation by not creating a backup. Because if the repair finishes successfully and Outlook still bombs, you’ll need to.
2. Shutdown Outlook completely, including any runaway outlook.exe processes in the task manager. Open Mail in the Control Panel and before you delete your profile completely, write down the server settings! There’s no need to worry about backing up your mail as it’s stored on the Exchange server. (Essentially, you’re deleting that outlook.ost when you drop your mail profile.) Now, start Outlook and it will create a new profile, where you’ll configure the server with the information you wrote down previously.
If steps above don’t work or you need to get more variants of .pst restoration, visit...

I am using Office 2003 on an XP pro system. I merge my word document with an existing Access database to send out emails thru Office Outlook. Outlook shuts down, as in stops sending emails at random intervals. Sometimes restating Outlook will get it going but most times it comes down to removing all merged emails and re-doing the merge to get it going again. Sending in groups of 100 to 9000 at a time. The merge goes well, it is the Oulook. Help please.

You didn't say what types of accounts they are, but mostly likely there isn't a way, unless there is a third-party tool or these are Exchange accounts.

Hi All,

I have a customer who is running Windows XP Home with SP2 and Office XP (Standard or Small Business), he is an architec and uses AutoCAD all the time and also checks his email using Outlook XP and Word XP, that about all the programs that he says he uses.

He was having a problem with Outlook and Word crashing, so I deleted his normal.dot file and he was ok for about a day, then the same problem started again. So, we deleted the normal.dot again and it was working fine, then the problem appeared a few hours later?

He has AVG Internet Security Home Edition. I'm not sure what could be causing the corruption? I haven't tried the "detect and repair" option yet, as I have heard that it will reset Outlook back to the default and delete any accounts? Also, I heard that un-installing and re-installing Office doesn't really help with normal.dot problems as normal.dot gets created "after" you create the first Word document?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Do you know why suddenly MS Office would have problems opening files? It started with Power Point, now Excel – goes like this.

I open a file and a warning message pops up and says “Power Point has experienced a problem and needs to close”

The little box is checked “restart Power Point”…

It restarts PPT and then says the same error and offers to launch “Detect and Repair”. It gets through that routine and works.

Then when I close the file the “fix” will last sometimes an hour and sometimes 2 days. This morning it did it and I’ve had no problem opening up Excel files the rest of the day but one day last week it did it every time I closed the program.

Any suggestions?

A:MS Office Corrupt? Hardware or Software?

I have not experienced problems like this with any version of MS Office going back to '95.

That said, it would be helpful to others reading your thread if you indicated which operating system you are running, e.g., Win2k, WinXP, VISTA, etc., what version of MS Office you are running, e.g., Office2000, Office2003, etc., and what service pack has been installed for both opsys and Office.

i was given a solution to this problem before. it was a corrupt normaldot file in microsoft word that was causing document to open in safe mode and then freeze while virus checks were initiated within the document itself. the problem with the solution i was given, was that the solution applied to XP explorer and not Vista, si it as impossible to find the normaldot.file, which is located in documents -settings. this location is not available in Vista (and a search didn;t bring the normaldot.file up either!).

so if someone could tell me how to deal with this issue or give me an alternative means of fixing the problem I would be very grateful of course. And I thank everyone for their very kind support and effort in supporting me with these issues.

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop. I have been using Office 2007 on it and it has worked very well. Recently, Outlook stopped working, so after checking a number of possible fixes, I went to Control Pannel, Add Remove Programs and look for a "Fix Program" option. The message that came up was, "Install file corrupted". So I have been trying to remove the Office 2007 professional from my machine according to MS Article ID: 928218

I get to a point in the instructions where I am to delete the Office12 folder. When I try to do that I get the an Access Denied message referring to either MSOXMAMF.DLL and/or MSOHEVI.DLL. The message reads, "Access denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is nit currently in use.”

Can anyone help with this? According to MS, if I try to reinstall a new copy of Office 2007 when there is a previous copy on the machine, the new copy will not over write the previous copy. All the configurations and setting, corrupt or not will remain.

Had this error on a user's pc. Researched it here on the forum.
Found another thread with someone suggesting to use the following command to get it going:
Start->run..then type the following -> "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane"

This worked! The other thread has since been closed, but I wanted to reply and say WHY my users outlook suddenly started throwing out this error, because no one on the other thread was able to.

Turns out that my user had "accidentally" dragged their personal folder (containing 1000's of emails) into the "outbox".
Since the "outbox" folder is one to be used while an email is in the sending phase, it basically just shut down and wouldn't open for anything.

Luckily the command was able to get Outlook open and I was able to investigate what the user did to cause it.

Hope this info can help someone else.

In Win7x64, Google email in the form of HTML source becomes mangled in Office Outlook (which I've substituted for incompatible Outlook Express).

To replace Outlook Express, I first tried Thunderbird, and then Eudora. Only Office Outlook, which is part of MS Office, had all the functions and options of Outlook Express that I like, plus formatting and organization features.

I could use Web Mail with Gmail or ATT-Yahoo, to which I have access, but I prefer getting my mail to my PC and keeping it there.

Hello everyone (And sorry for such a long thread title!)

One of the elderly gentleman where I work, has been given a Dell laptop by his Son that's running W7 64bit.

He has a copy of Office 2000 that he would like to install on this machine, and use the bundled Outlook from it as his default e-mail client. The only problem is, the current desktop PC he's using, is running Windows XP (unsure which version) and he's got Outlook Express as his e-mail viewing software on there at the moment.

Can the profile (sorry if that's the wrong term) from XP's Outlook Express be "ported" into the Outlook from Office 2000, whilst all of this is running on W7 64bit?

Many, many thanks in advance

A:Migrating XP's Outlook Express to Office 2000's Outlook on W7 64bit

Office 2000 is not supported on Windows 7, and is insecure and past it's lifetime support. That said, there may be workarounds to get it to work on 7, but that's probably more difficult then your original question. I'd think your friend would need a newer version, then revisit can it be done For instance:

Import messages into Windows Mail from Outlook Express

Import your messages or account from Outlook Express to Outlook - Outlook - Office.com

Trying to use Office 2000 would not be at all advisable.

I went to see what I could do with the existing office 2010 and it is corrupt and would not uninstall

So i run revo uninstaller - after it had found 36,000 registry entries and was still counting I cancelled the process , as I wanted to create some recovery DVDs before proceeding

Corrupt installer databases are to blame. This appears to appen with Office and Adobe pdf products. The installer database contains your .ICO or icon files. Sometimes the icons also mysteriously disappear from the porgramfiles directory as well. I have not found a solution as of yet and this continues to happen after fresh reformats. As for reinstall or repair sometimes these fail due to the corrupt installer database as is the case for me. If this is the case this thread may help you. THe program sugusted by Windows star filetypemanager may help you locate the missing installers and replace the missing file extension icons. With a corrupt installer database though its difficult.

I'm helping a friend upgrade her computer and one of the things I did was helped her acquire and install a copy of Personal Office 365, which includes Outlook 2016. She's been doing her email on Outlook.com until now but now wants to use Outlook 2016.

Hi. Here's a little info on Outlook files:
Introduction to Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) - Outlook

Your pst/ost file needs to be located and copied, (for a backup). You then export it through the O2013 program, and import it to the new outlook 2016.

Edit: no, wait - she was using Outlook.com? hmmm.....now I have to think about that. I think you can just setup the account in O2016, and everything should sync?

My friend just had her computer reformatted after a bad virus contamination. It is still running EXTREMELY slow but has at least been running correctly. She is running XP

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Office 2003 for her with Microsoft Outlook and now her email doesn't seem to be working. She uses Outlook Express as her mail default rather than Office Outlook but keeps getting the error message that it can't find the POP3.

I also installed AVG for her and have shut off the email plugin to see if that is part of the problem.

The thing is, it happened yesterday right after I installed these programs for her but then a minute later her email worked just fine. Now she just restarted her computer and the mail won't work again.

Is there something wrong with her computer or is it at the server?

I hope this all makes sense.

I have used my Office Outlook 2016 syncing with my Msn.com email for years, and as of 10/12/16, my outlook started to have issues. Nothing I did on the outlook synced up with the online emails nor anything that attacked that account (my iPad/iPhone) but whatever I did on those reflected.

For example, I deleted out my junk on Outlook, and it would not reflect that change, but I was still getting new emails into my Outlook.

I tried a couple of things, then removed my msn.com email, and restarted. When I tried to reconnect back to my email, (add email) it would always restart office outlook. Has done this every single day, though I can retrieve and do everything from my apple products or through the online Outlook (aka outlook live). But since I have tons of windows open, I don't need to try to keep track of my email when outlook did this. (the office products)

To make it more interesting, my Gmail accounts are still all linked and working through the office outlook. (it's sad when google is working better than their Microsoft's own email system!) I have restarted, repaired and done everything, even checked my privacy settings which are all set up correctly.

Has anyone else had these issues, and can help me?

Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails, so what else can I do? Am I doing something wrong in moving the file.
Thanks a lot

I have just got my computer back after having it reformated. I used to have Outlook Express, but the guy has put Outlook Office 2003 on it, and i don't like the set up
Is there a way i can reinstall outlook express?

A:outlook office 2003, want outlook express

outlook express should come with windows (i think its part of IE) so you should have outlook express on the PC

I'm surprised you have MSoffice on the PC, a very expensive product suite

have a look in program files and see if you have a folder called outlook express in there should be a file named msimn.exe

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"

I would expect the program to be on the program list somewhere anyway

I have been using Outlook Express for my e-mail. I decided to give Microsoft Office Outlook a try.

After about 1 1/2 hours I figured how to switch from one to the other. I found it under tools- Internet options.

Could someone please tell me how to switch all the information I have stored in Outlook Express over to Microsoft Office Outlook ? I have a lot pf e-mails saved, sent messages and so forth that I would like to keep.

I have tried but I am not having any luck. Since there are just so many hours in a day, I thought it best to ask you folks how it is done instead of blowing a few more hours trying it on my own.
Thank You for your time,

can't seem to make office outlook 2003 my default mailbox over outlook express 6 .tried everything I could without success.
any suggestions out there? thanks.planning to delete oe6 altogether eventually .

A:outlook express 6/office outlook 2003

OE6 is an integral part of IE6.
If you are running XP, I would not advise deleting OE6, just ignoring it.

When you say you want Outlook 2003 to be your "default mailbox" I get confused. Do you mean your default email client perhaps? Your "mailbox" would be provided by your ISP, at their POP3 server.

To change the default, try setting Outlook as the default under IE6 (Tools - Internet Options - Programs)

(a friend has told me that there may be a trojan attached to my explorer.exe...please consider this as an option.)

I find that I have no permissions with any software installation, repair, or update.

The first thing I noticed was that every time I tried to update or install something, a new window popped up saying that the software (or hardware) wasn't certified for Windows Logo...scanned with Adaware & AVG...nothing...researched...found a Microsoft fix saying to just uncheck the notification alert in CP. It didn't stop.

I've scanned with Malwarebytes, Norton Utilities, Emsisoft,(these each found small things that through research I cannot find definitive answers as to whether or not they're actually malicious), HijackThis (hasn't found anything yet), and downloaded avast and AntiVir but things have escalated, disallowing me to use these at all. (about to explain)

Yesterday, Microsoft Word would not open. Reg Xp mode just thinks for a second and forgets about it, Safe Mode shows the Microsoft Office 2010 initiation window, but then gives an error. I later found that PowerPoint does the same thing. I attempted repair and it says failure. Itunes install also says corrupt. I used both these programs days ago. Acrobat says error... Read more
