Printer software keeps uninstalling part way through installation

Q: Printer software keeps uninstalling part way through installation

My lexmark wifi printer wasnt working so I uninstalled the software thinking re-installing would solve the problem. Now, whenever I try to re-install the Lexmark software, as soon as it installs the uninstall option (part way through loading the application and I know this as it updates as installing) it starts to uninstall itself. I have tried countless driver sites but they all have the same issue. Is this a Windows 7 issue?

Preferred Solution: Printer software keeps uninstalling part way through installation

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I had a desktop with WinXP that my Lexmark X1270 all-in-one printer was hooked up to. I have since got rid of that pc and got a laptop with Vista (I know nobody likes it, but it appeared that that's the only choice now.) that I hooked my printer up to. While it does print, a part of it is missing. It just so happens to be a crucial part to me. The All-In-One center isn't on my pc (I've tried reinstalling a couple times and updating driver/software at Lexmark's site), that being the part where you can copy and scan things. Anyone able to help?

A:Part of printer's software missing?

I like Vista for a start - I haven't had to do a fresh install once yet!

This may sound a cop out but have you asked Lexmark if this is a common issue? - you never know they may even help.

Another shot is, are you installing it as an administrator? i.e right-click on the setup.exe and Run as Administrator.

I am trying to uninstall the printer software on my computer so that I can reinstall it thereafter because the printer does not work anymore. When I try to uninstall I get the following message: "during set up an unusual execution has passed. Set up is now being closed".

I think that something went wrong when the software was installed the first time altough the printer worked fine for several years. System restore worked a few times but not anymore.

Can anyone help me with this problem? I would be very grateful for any help that can be offered and many thanks in advance.

I have just hooked up a Canon MX320 printer. Everything seems to be working fine. Is it a good idea to uninstall the old Canon printer/scanner software? Should I use any special precautions? How do I remove all evidence of the old printer and scanner? Thanks.

A:Solved: Uninstalling old printer/scanner software.

You can leave the old program if you want to be able to use your old printer. If you want to remove it go to control panel, add/remove programs and select the program to remove it. IF you want to make sure there is no evidence of it - go to My computer, local drive, programs, there may be two Canon folders or one with both programs in it. If there is two the old one might be empty or there may be no evidence of it at all. select and del. what you don't want.

Hi Guys,

Me again, I'm on site installing this network set-up (initially posted here) and I've arrived at the secure office bit. I now have a bit of a problem... All routers I've been supplied with are ADSL, so there is no option to connect LAN to WAN to add a NAT layer. Is there any way of enforcing something over a LAN to LAN link, or, if that's not an option, can I put another router in the chain, secure this down and daisy chain off of this? Would putting a PC in the chain, connected to the un-secure network and sharing this connection over CAT5 to a router's LAN work?

I know the real answer is to tell the tight bugger he needs to get a normal router for the office side, I was just seeing if there are any interim solutions I could put in place with the limited hardware available.

Thanks, as always for any help or advice you can offer

A:Network installation questions (part 2)...

There are plenty of Ethernet equipped routers, you shouldn't have to settle for something that doesn't fit your requirements.

I have an All-in-one inkjet printer and the PC is recognising the scanner part, but not the printer part. The printer is connected directly to the PC with a USB cable.

When not connected to the PC the device copies documents ok, so I know the printer part should be working.

This has happened since I changed all four cartridges, but as they print ok when not connected to the PC, I don't understand why the PC doesn't see it. It has worked fine for 2 years.

In "Devices and Printers" it shows the Brother DCP-195C but has an exclamation point next to the icon. But when I click Troubleshoot, it checks and then says nothing it wrong.

Any ideas what is wrong please?

A:PC not recognising printer; only scanner part

OK I'm being told by someone who works with printers to remove the printer, uninstall the software, and reinstall.

Here's my dilemma: I also just bought a color laser printer so I might not need the printer function on the inkjet as much - if at all.

I am concerned that if I uninstall and reinstall the All-in-one that the bit that is working currently - the copier and scanner - will also stop working. Is that likely to happen, or am I being a wuss?

A:Solved: Uninstalling a printer

Disconnect the printer first. Use Add & Remove Programs(XP) or Programs & Features(Vista/7). If after using the uninstallers there's any Dell printers entries in the Start Menu, then see if they have a separate uninstall there. Lastly go to Printers and Faxes and delete any Dell entries still there.

Last weekend I had a tidy up of my programs on my laptop, I removed a few things one of which was the driver and software for my old HP Printer. I now have a new printer and am getting annoyed with the HP one asking for updates all the time.

One of the other things I uninstalled was Bonjour as I thought it was just some apple thing that had installed along with all the Ipod stuff. However when I went to print with my wireless printer it was asking for Bonjour so I did a system restore.

Unfortunately, now when I switch my laptop on the HP stuff keeps looking for bits to install and run in the system tray - v. annoying. So, I tried to uninstall it again via add/remove programs and it just won't do it. Its like part of it is there but not enough of it for it to acknowledge it and uninstall it.

Is there another way I can get rid of it without having to go and install it all over again? I have tried different restore points to no avail.

Edited to add, I am using Windows Vista.

Dear Friends hi!
My problem is as follows: I accidentally installed Windows XP Sp2 on drive D:. When I realised that I tried to install it on the proper drive C:. But now I have two installations, and as the former is useless now I am trying to discard it but without formating the D: drive as it holds a lot of data which cannot be backed up elsewhere. How could I get rid of the older installation otherwise?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers for a happy summber.

A:Uninstalling unwanted double installation

If the D: drive holds only data (in addition to the erroneous installation), there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't just delete the Windows files. To verify that Windows is not using any part of that second drive, unplug the cable to it and ensure you can still boot and run Windows. If all works, you should be able to clean it up by deleting files and folders. If Windows gives you a hard time about it, you may need to boot up in Safe Mode.

This is a clients laptop, only one month old with factory installed win 7 pro. Only updates, office 2013, outlook 2010, Avast AV and some company bespoke non-invasive software installed.

Been getting these BSODs for the whole time since active usage.

I've tried lots of google threads without success, I think it's a driver issue??

I'm really stuck here, although I'm an 'IT Guy' with 15 years in the business I've never looked into diagnosing dump files etc.

I appeal for your help, please find attached the collected sys info/dumps.

A:Win 7 x64 BSOD - I know it's software but which part?

Lets take a look.

An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace.
Arg1: 0000000006f77320, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff880058d9b3d, address which referenced memory
So we tried to read invalid/pageable memory at an IRQL of two which is an illegal operation that will always result in a bugcheck.
Whether the memory was pageable or invalid is still unknown as the dump file hasn't saved that information.

I have recently switched my dsl services. I am having trouble uninstalling all the Verizon software, including IE provided by Verizon. I have gone to add/remove, but there is no Verizon listed, yet when I do a search it is still in my system. I called them and they were of no help, probably because I canceled my service. Also, when I went to Network Connections, highlighted Verizon, it only gives me the option to delete not uninstall. Please help! Thank you!!!

A:Uninstalling ISP software

I think you'll find that, in most cases, whatever software your previous ISP gave you, it simply re-names/re-badges what would otherwise be generic.

I know several ISPs in Australia adopted this practice, but gave up after a while because most people binned the "Network Connection Installation CD" as a waste of time.

For example, as you say, "IE provided by Verizon" would simply be a program that "re-badges" IE - i.e. sticks a logo other than Microsoft's on your IE browser. There are a few web sites that give instructions how to do this with any bmp image file. Google : "internet explorer" change logo.

As far as the network connection goes, I would suggest that the icon labelled with Verizon is simple the generic network logo, otherwise probably called simply "Local Area Connection" on a lot of other computers.

A:uninstalling a printer, while rebooting sudden BSOD

Does it get the BSOD every time that it reboots? If not, then I'd just wait to see if it BSOD's again.

The memory dump seems to point to either a networking issue or a compatibility issue (because of hal.dll and tdx.sys in the stack text) - both of which could be seen in relation to printer drivers.

But, you do have some outdated drivers on your system (and they could be causing compatibility issues). Please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

I have a HP Pavilion with XP SP2. A while ago, I installed SP3 and it messed up my computer (I could only launch Windows in Safe Mode) and when I tried uninstalling it, it failed. So I had to do a System Recovery to get things back to normal, but now my computer no longer accepts my printer. I get the "failed to pass Windows logo testing" message and it doesn't work even if I click "continue anyway" or after I installed the right drivers. I also can't use the CDRom that came with my printer because it was made for older operating systems (it's a HP Deskjet 932c). The printer is listed in the "Printers and Faxes" like it's working but I can't use it...and I can't find anything wrong in the device manager either.

My laptop lenovo T5300 with Win7 Ultimate (32 bit) was pretty ok and had both firefox and chrome.

But my DVD drive is having issues and it just doesn't detect all ( with some, it works fine). So it install a new s/w, I used a portable DVD drive. Software was authentic and a simple one ( to write in Indian languages with regular key-board)

BSOD started. Booting was fine. If I just browse it was ok, most of the time!. But if I open 3-4 documents together, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA with win32k.sys crashes started. Code was 0x00000050.

I even removed Firefox completely because I saw Firefox/nss3.dll message for unrelated applications. Made chrome as default browser.

Checked for all expert looks. Nobody agreed that it was due to external DVD drive installation. Ultimate suggestion was REINSTALL because it is OS issue!

But I had a strong feeling about drivers of my laptop. Once I updated my mobile phone drivers and after that mobile phone is invisible for laptop.

As a final try, I just removed the new s/w (external drive installed) and the problem was solved.

What is the cause?

So I want to make my laptop robust for all external devices/drivers. Any clues?

A:Could solve just by uninstalling the new software!

Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

I once used an accounting program called 'Sage' which is quite a large program. When I try to unistall it (through add/remove programs) nothing happens at all, and sometimes it makes my computer freeze. Is there another way that I can remove this program? It might be similar to programs such as 'quicktime' which are hard to remove?

Some programs have an unistall option on the installation disc . . Otherwise, you can try uninstalling in safe mode . .

Hope this helps . . wrs

I have an hp dv9700 laptop running vista home premium 64bit. My current problem is not being able to uninstall Windows Media Player. I have uninstalled it from remove programs and it is not detected in Windows Installer Clean Up. I have searched for any files that pertain to Windows Media Player...there are none. But for some reason my computer thinks I have it installed. I can't install WMP again because it says I already have it installed but I can't find any files (even hidden) that pertain to WMP.

That problem was discovered initially because iTunes doesn't recognize my cd/dvd burner ( I wanted to see if it's just iTunes). My burner is an Optiarc BD ROM BC 5500A by Sony. I can't find any drivers for it newer than 2006 and Vista says they are current. My burner worked just fine before...I had it fixed while still under warranty but now they want 80 bucks just to discuss the problem. The problem started with the CD drive disappearing from My Computer and not reading CDs...which I got to work...and now it won't burn. AGH!!

Does anyone know how to delete idea of WMP or get my burner working? Both HP and Vista support pages have been unhelpful (unless of course I pay for it which I can't afford)

Hi Alkene, welcome to the forum. Question: When you say you've done a "search" for WMP --- have you done an "Advanced Search" and included all files/folders --- not just those that are indexed? If you haven't try it now --- Make sure you set Advanced Search to search the 'Entire Computer' and click the box that says "Include non-indexed, hidden and system files." Also, up in the toolbar, be sure that 'All' is checked.

When you search, search Windows Media Player and WMP, and also search any other keywords you think might be in any of the files and/or folders.

You can delete any files and folders that are found, right from Advanced Search, but be very careful that you're not deleting needed files or folders that have similar names to WMP, but are actually needed to run your system properly.

I want to protect uninstalling a software from administrator account. Is it possible? If possible, please tell me how to do that

Require other users to use a Standard account you set up for them or the Guest account.

Keep Admin account passworded and only supply the password when you approve an elevated task like Uninstall.

This could be the wrong place to post this, but I'll give it a try anyway. Unbelievably I just tried installing a (Pool) game that was most likely originally designed to be played on Windows 95 (from an old disc that my wife still has laying around the house). However, I am running Windows Vista on my laptop, and of course it did not work. I should have known that it wouldn't. Anyway, all I wanted to do afterward was uninstall the program (after it only partially installed it), but it wouldn't let me. Here is the error I received:

The log file ‘C:\Program Files\Intrplay\VPoolW\DeIsL1.isu’ is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Uninstallation will not continue.

Can someone please explain to me exactly how I can finish the uninstall process? That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.
