My dell XPS 13 (9350-1288) and WD15 180W (452-BCCW)

Q: My dell XPS 13 (9350-1288) and WD15 180W (452-BCCW)

Good day!
When I leave work, and close the lid of lapto it goes into hibernation mode. Arriving home, I open the laptop and turn it on with the power button. First, the monitor displays the BIOS splash screen, and then loads the window, but then the screen is lit in gray and there is no possibility to enter a password. Today, having come to work, I spent exeperimental.1) Turn on the computer, a gray screen.2) Connect the docking station to a stationary monitor all appeared.3) I came in, worked, shut the cover - the laptop went into hibernation.4) Turn on the computer, do not disconnect the docking station, a gray screen on the laptop, on a stationary monitor power saving mode.5) Reconnect the docking station to a stationary monitor all appeared.
Updated window to update all drivers, update the firmware docking station. Nothing helped!
Dell experts help please it is not convenient to work!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

It appears to me that the operating system hibernation is the culprit and not hardware. Test this at the end of you work day.* Do not close the lid to enable hibernation* Shutdown properly =Click Start- Shutdown- Shutdown- Ok or Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Turn Off-or-Tap the lower left Start button to open the Start MenuClick the Power Options button on the top middle, and select Shut down-or-Right-click the bottom left corner on the desktop to open the menu, tap Shut down or sign out and choose Shut down-or-Press Alt+F4Click the down arrow, choose Shut down in the list and tap OK* Then close the lid* Once home =Connect the laptop to whatever dockOpen the lid and power it on

Just purchased a XPS 15 and have a few questions about the Dell WD15 180W Docking Station.

Will the docking station charge the XPS 15 while docked through USB-C with multiple external monitors connected?

Is the mini DisplayPort  version 1.2 and able to daisy chain monitors?

We have two XPS 13's with WD15 in service at the moment, with two more waiting in the wings.
One system seems to work fine, with the XPS 13 cover open and using the XPS 13 keyboard along with a Logitech Unity wireless mouse and an external monitor + Ethernet hard wired to the WD15.  The other system was problematic, the difference being that it was trying to be used with its cover closed when connected to the WD15.  We finally figured out that the XPS 13 needs to be first connected to the WD15 while open, then turn off the Wi-Fi before closing the cover.  This seems to have "fixed" the problem.  The problem being that the Ethernet adapter would disconnect, shut down, whatever and then come back on briefly.  After a few minutes (or less) of this the external monitor would go off.  Opening the XPS's cover would usually bring things back to life.
Simply turning off the Wi-Fi before closing the cover seems to be the key for us!  We have the settings set in the Power Setting so that Nothing should happen when the cover is closed.
We have Installed the latest updates (as of 11/22/2016) including BIOS 1.4.10.  Lowered the Wi-Fi power output down to 75% as suggested elsewhere, etc.  This didn't correct the problem, only turning off the Wi-Fi before closing the cover has helped.
Even with the Realtek Ethernet Adapter disabled, and the Ethernet cable disconnected from the WD15, when we shut the cover of the XPS 1... Read more

I've been poking around the inter-web a bit looking for a definitive answer regarding 9350's and external monitors. What is the highest resolution you can achieve? In my case I'd be connecting through a WD15 (which still has no working USB ports - had to get that in), and... and... which connection method offers the best results; mini DP, HDMI, or VGA. My instinct puts it in that order but I read a review on the WD15 that had a pretty bizarre set of results using these different selections (along with one and two monitor setups). I'm looking to connect to a Dell U2515H (2560 x 1440) but would be fairly disappointed if I couldn't muster more than 1080. Thanks.

Our company purchased several XPS13 laptops last year, running Windows 7 Pro, along with the WD15 docks.
The laptops are usually connected to the company LAN network through the docks, but then are switched to a WIFI connection when taking the laptop to meetings, then re-docked afterwards.
The problem we're seeing is that, for all except one laptop, we have to use the laptop switch to disable WIFI/Bluetooth (Fn-PrtScr) for the laptops to switch from WIFI to LAN when they're re-docked. For the one laptop, it automatically switches from WIFI to LAN once it's re-docked without any issues.
The process we use for un-docking/re-docking the laptops is below:
Un-docking the laptop:

Unplug LAN cable from dock (lower-right LAN icon changes to WIFI icon) - if the laptop is removed from the dock without unplugging the LAN cable first, the wireless adapter remains disabled in Device Manager. Selecting Enable doesn't work, and sometimes, even a computer restart won't fix this.
Unplug laptop from dock.
For the one laptop, at this point, the WIFI network is detected and connects automatically with no problems.
For the other laptops, since the WIFI/Bluetooth switch is in a disabled state (reason explained below), the lower-right WIFI icon has a red cross on it. This is then enabled using the Fn-PrtScr switch and, all going well, the WIFI network is detected and connects automatically. (There have been times when the wireless adapter needs to be manually enabled i... Read more

Finally got around to incorporating my WD15 docking station to my XPS 13 9350. Connection is fine. Laptop powering up. Speakers working. Tablet charging. Second monitor clear as can be. Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB - undetected USB device. Plugged it directly into the laptop and it popped right up. Back into the WD15 and - undetected USB device. I've seen some internet posts with upgraded Windows 10 / backup drive fails, but so far nothing with this docking station (or I haven't looked long enough). Anyone else go through this? Would definitely appreciate any Ideas. BIOS and drivers are all up to date. Many thanks.

How can I do this? Is it possible?

Hello, I have a Dell XPS 13 with a WD15 dock, the last days the dell audio stopped working but I fixed reinstalling the drivers (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/t/19993911
But also my dock WD15 stopped displaying video or audio. The ethernet and the usb works fine but I cant output any video as the scree says no HDMI signal detected. I've tested the HDMI with other computer and the monitor works fine.
I've downloaded and installed the firmware and driver for thunderbolt and the Realtek driver from here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/es/es/esbsdt1/product-support/product/dell-dock-wd15/DRIVERS?rvps=y
If I go to playback devices i can see the monitor audio (VW246) but the dock audio shows as not connected:

Hello All,
I have a Dell XPX 13 9360 laptop with a WD15 dock that I want to use two Dell 2316M monitors.
The dock connects up to the laptop fine - I am getting ethernet, USB and power from the dock via the Thunderbolt port. But, I am getting no video output from it. The laptop does not recognize that there are additional displays connected. The monitors are on the correct input and the monitors work on their own respectively (tested by connecting to another machine).
I have tried installing the drivers from Dell (Thunderbolt, ASMedia USB, Intel Graphics, etc.), but nothing makes it work. I attempted to install the Firmware, but it fails.
The laptop is Windows 10 Pro.
Does anyone have any suggestions to make this work?

A:Dell WD15 w/XPS 13 9360 - No Video

Hmm, video is typically the easiest thing to get working because the USB-C port just has a DisplayPort output wired to it, so there are no special dock drivers to make that work.  In terms of the firmware update that failed, if you're referring to the WD15 firmware I'm linking below, what's the exact failure error?  That firmware update involves restarting your PC and having it update the firmware while it boots, and it would be a good thing to get working because one of the listed fixes pertains to the DisplayPort MST hub that controls the video outputs.  Link: www.dell.com/.../driversdetails.

After the latest WD15 dock update there are two bugs:
1. The Dell Dock Update 'Updates Complete' popup continually appears when any device is connected to the dock or the attached XPS 15.
2. All audio is lost whenever any USB device is plugged into either the XPS 15 or the dock itself. Audio continues to play (ie through spotify) but there is no sound. Unplugging the audio jack on the WD15 and reinserting appears to fix this bug.

Is there any reason I wouldn't be able to use a T470s with a Dell USB-C dock (specifically a WD15)? I know the power adapter would be different, but I can't think of any reason the USB-C wouldn't be compatible. I prefer the peripheral connections on the Dell dock to the Lenovo 40A9 (which only has DP and VGA, and is recommended for only two external monitors, whereas I'd like to be able to connect three). Also, sorry if this has been discussed before; I searched around but couldn't find the right topic.

Hi All
I am posting my first post here... I've reading all posts regarding usb-c dock issues. I have fallen victim too... I bought brand new Dell WD15 dock and before begin i install latest drivers and still get under power warning! Please see photo attached!
I spent hours with Dell support and they advice me to clean install and install drivers in right order, so wasting almost a day i did all this and problem don't go away!
Aside the power warning the display randomly disconnects... leaving me no screen at all (the laptop screen doesn't switch back either) and now laptop gets very hot, making me wonder if i somehow damaged the laptop itself?
I will return this item but wonder if this can somehow have damaged my brand new $2500 laptop? Super disappointed with overall experience... 10k + dell products in past and this is as bad it can get, making me question buying anything from Dell both for personal and business :-(

Hello together,
we have new test systems from Dell (5580, 5480, 7480 and 7280) and the new Dell dock WD15.
To installing our clients, we booting with PXE to starting our Windows 7 / Windows 10 installation. In the BIOS settings we have activate

Settings - System Configuration - Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration - Enable ThunderboltAdapter Pre-boot Modules
Settings - System Configuration - Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration - Enable Thunderbolt Adapter Boot Support
Settings - POST Behavior - Fastboot - Thorough
Settings - System Configuration - Integrated NIC - Enable w/PXE

After this default settings, I change the Boot Sequence order

OnBoard NIC(IPV4)
Windows Boot Manager (Harddisk)

The Idea:I have set USB NIC to first postion, then when the user dock in the WD15, the client is using the network from the WD15 and not the OnBoard netcard. When the user plug in the cable into the OnBoard netcard, then I will be received the message USB NIC have no cable and he will check the connection on the OnBoard netcard.
Now my problem:When I remove my WD15 from the notebook, the client is booting from PXE OnBoard - thats OK! But when I plugin again the WD15, the Boot order was changed.

Onboard NIC(IPV4)
Windows Boot Manager (Harddisk)

The LAN capel is connected in the WD15 and not in the OnBoard netcard. Now, the client is starting, will not found a network connection on the OnBoard netcard and is booting into Windows. But I neet a PXE boot on my USB NIC.

We have the problem that the usb mouse and keyboard does not work lots of times with the Dell 5480 & wd15 if Citrix Receiver is installed, did any of you try that.

we have the same problem with the 5 Dell 5480 that we have in the company.

A:Dell 5480 USB not working with WD15 & Citrix Receiver

That's a known issue on the TB16 dock due to the ASMedia USB driver that it requires to be installed. That driver is not required for the WD15 docks, but if you installed that driver anyway on those systems, it might affect them as well.  The fix is simply to update Citrix Receiver on the affected systems to at least 4.9.  This Dell support article explains the issue and provides a link to Citrix to download an updated Citrix Receiver client: www.dell.com/.../tb16-dock-losing-connection-to-peripherals-and-network-on-reboot-with-citrix-receiver-client-software-installed

I have Dell Precision 5520 laptop connected to Dell WD15 dock.
There is a Dell U3011 2560x1600 display connected to MiniDP of the dock.
The laptop display works in 1920x1080 mode, in order to get DPI similar to the one on U3011 (that's on purpose I'm fine with that).
Today I tried adding the third display with 1280x1024 resolution connected to VGA of the dock.
It doesn't work. The third display gets detected by the Ubuntu display settings, but it can't be turned on. It works only if I unplug U3011.
It is also possible to run all 3 displays in mirror mode, but not in extended desktop mode.
Is it a hardware limitation (Intel graphics in Precision, WD15 dock) or just problem with Intel Linux graphic drivers?
BTW: Nvidia card is turned off.
From  the WD15 and laptop specs it looks like the config I'm trying to do should be supported:
- 1920x1080 builtin laptop screen- 2560x1600 through WD15 and miniDP - 1280x1024 through WD15 and VGA

Any ideas, what I can try?

After much troubleshooting, I discovered an issue when using the WD15 docking station with a Dell Precision 5510 laptop if the Cisco Systems VPN Client 64-bit software is installed and especially if Symantec Endpoint Protection exists on the laptop together with Cisco VPN (Symantec Endpoint Protection can manage the enabling and disabling of a wired ethernet connection).
To give some background, I provide I.T. support for a company that has deployed Dell laptops to its staff for many years.  In our environment, our Dell laptops run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  In this environment in the past, we've never had any issues using the Cisco Systems VPN Client with any Dell laptop that either has a built-in ethernet port or a USB ethernet dongle (including the Dell Precision 5510 when used with its included USB-C ethernet dongle).  But I've discovered ethernet connectivity problems from the WD15's wired ethernet connection when used with a Dell 5510 when Cisco VPN is installed (regardless of whether or not a VPN connection is active).
With the WD15 connected to the 5510 and with a wired network connection attached to the WD15, if Cisco VPN is installed and if Symantec Endpoint Protection is not installed, when after starting up Windows 7 and then logging into Windows, sometimes within the first few minutes, the wired ethernet connection will then drop connection (an exclamation mark will appear over the wired network icon on the taskbar of Windows). ... Hi everyone,
New owner of the XPS 13 9360, great product aside from some coil whine. I have an issue with the audio port, from the WD15. Sometimes when I am listening to music, I will notice distortion for 3-5 secs, and then it will cut out completely. Then the audio interface is completely unavailable to the OS. Spotify will say "Cannot play right now", as if the interface is blocked.
I have BIOS updated to 2.2.1 on the XPS 13 9360, and WD15 F/W is up to date (according to the update tool). Realtek USB is updated to March 17, 2017, the newest one available on the website. I have no display issues or ethernet issues with the dock otherwise, but the audio issue is very annoying.
Can anyone provide a clue as to why this is happening? Even when it doesn't cut out completely, I'll hear an occasional stutter from the audio, as if audio interrupts are not being handled in higher priority over other I/O. Not sure what the problem is, but I guess I can also ask here and start a discussion with Dell support as well.

I've got a WD15 hooked up to my XPS15 laptop and it works fine. Latest drivers and chipset/BIOS installed on both Dock and laptop.
I have a pair of external active studio speakers hooked up to the 3.5 mm Speaker out jack on the back of the dock and it works fine.
However if I use Google Hangouts or Skype for business calls and plug in a headset to the front 3.5 mm Headset Jack of the dock the external speakers starts a high pitch static noise. If I then un-plug and replug the 3.5 mm jack for the speakers the noise is gone. The sound and mic of the headset is working fine from start.
The same thing happens when I unplug the headset from the front of the dock, the external speakers starts to "hum" static noise. Again un-plugging the 3.5 mm jack of the speakers and plugging it in again stops the humming static.
If I instead plug the headset into the Laptop there is no problem and the external speakers remains quite.
Why is it doing this and how can I get rid of this annoying behavior?

So I am to receive a precision 5510 in the next couple days. I've already bought monitors and a wd15 dell dock. I am a bit confused as to how to hook up dual monitors given that there aren't two of the same port on the WD15 like there was on the E-dock I am currently using for my precision m4700.

At any rate my monitors have HDMI (2), and VGA (1) inputs. The WD 15 has one HDMI, One mini display port, and one VGA.

To run dual monitors I  am assuming I need to run one from the dock's HDMI port to one monitor's HDMI and one either from the dock's Mini display port (with an adapter to HDMI) tot he HDMI port on the other monitor? I supposed I could go VGA to VGA as well, but prefer HDMI.
IS this correct?

I have just bought a Dell XPS 15 (9560) and a Dell WD15 docking station with 130W power brick (same wattage as the laptop's AC-adapter). When I only use the docking station to power the laptop the discrete graphics card (GTX 1050) does not seem to work. When I am in a game (eg. Starcraft 2), I get like 15 fps with the NVIDIA recommended settings. Then when I plug in the laptops's own power brick (while still in the game) I get an immediate four-fold increase in framerate. When I unplug the laptop's own power brick the framerate drops down to 15 fps again in a heartbeat. Furthermore, when I only power the laptop through the docking station, I cannot even find the discrete GPU in the list when I'm trying to run the Geekbench 4 compute benchmark (OpenCL). Only the integrated graphics shows up. When I plug in laptop's power brick I find GTX 1050 in the list.
I have run the Dell Command Update application and all my drivers and firmware are up to date.
Does anyone have any idea to what the problem could be?

I've been using my Dell XPS 15 9550 for a couple of months now and everything was fine, i decided to connect it to an external monitor P2715Q through a Dell WD15 Type-C docking station, which working fine except for having the Monitor at 30Hz versus 60Hz. i've been facing alot of Blue Screen Errors, and one day found there was a firmware update for the Docking Station, the Monitor went blank and found the firmware was updating usually when i startup my laptop and it's connected to the docking station it gives me a warning message about the power being less than 60W so i unplugged the Type C cable connecting the dock to  the Laptop mid installation, it rolled back and i then figured i shouldn't have disconnected it. This morning i connected my dock as usual but it wasn't being recognized it's as if the Type C wasn't reading the Dock, i connected a Type C to Display port cable direct to the monitor to check if it was the port but that worked instantly, please help what should i do?

A:DELL WD15 Type-C Docking Not working with XPS 15 9550 after failed firmware update

Unplugging mid firmware update is a no no. Try the firmware update once or twice or so again, with nothing else connected to the dock. If that fails, try Dell service. Mine updated the second time but said failed at the end, then third time reported to be updated, and now seems to work just the way it did before.
I've had horrible issues with the WD15 initially, all sorts of devices disconnecting and not working properly, including plain wired USB mouse and keyboard. After tens of driver and BIOS updates, things eventually stabilized (although the screen developed a flicker meanwhile). Now it seems to work stably, as long as the laptop is in airplane mode, otherwise I still get temporary freezes. Many people blame it on some sort of the Dell Wireless 1830 adapter with USB - some say wifi power should be reduced to 75% in driver settings, but that replacement with the Intel 8260 is a better solution. Please report back if the airplane mode helps with stability (wired Ethernet now stable here, if you're on wifi regularly and worried about withdrawal symptoms during a possibly prolonged airplane mode testing period).
30 Hz is max for a 4K display on the WD15, there's not enough bandwidth for more via the USB protocol. Recently a revised version of the Thunderbolt 3 dock, the TB16, has been released, and perhaps even works finally with a fan built in, supporting even two external 4K displays @60Hz. 3rd-party TB3 docks have started appearing too, but make sure... I'm about to pull the trigger on a dell xps 13. Can anyone tell me if I order the 8gb model with the i5 6200u FHD screen which comes with a 256gb SSD, can someone tell me what model of SSD this is? Is it a Samsung SM951 (uk model)? I understand it is PCIE based, but does the controller run in AHCI or NVME? I am thinking of putting a 950 pro in there (I understand these drives are nearly identical in terms of performance but I'd like to be able to use the Samsung magician software and turn on rapid mode and overprovisioning. has anyone used the samsung magician software with a 950 pro drive? is there any difference in real world performance between an ahci drive and a nvme drive under normal usage?

I've seen Samsung xx1 drives and Lite-on drives in these systems -- you won't know until you receive the system.  There are people who've reported running the 950 Pro in this model.  Yes - the NVMe drives do outperform AHCI or standard PCIe drives, but even standard SATA drives are impressive performers.

I have just bought this Dell XPS 13 9350 within the past few months. One day the touchscreen started to constantly click on the screen, sometimes without stopping. The only way I am able to get this "ghost clicking" to stop is either restarting the laptop (hoping the problem doesn't persist)or, sometimes I get lucky by just pressing the touch screen on random spots and it seems to stop the clicking. Updating everything to latest BIOS, TB Firmware, Video Drivers does not working. I tried to disable TB security in BIOS but this doesnt help either.I tested my TB16 with another device, this time it is my company Lenovo P50. I recently got a new Dell XPS 13. I like it very much but I have one single issue with it.

The main problem is that I searched for fan problems over net, I saw people are complaining about fan being too noisy on XPS 13 but I hear absolutely nothing from laptop. and now I'm wondering if it has a fan and it's working.
How do I know that the fan is working?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9350. To be able to do that, I needed to install the usb 3.0 drivers (the laptop doesn't have any usb 2.0 ports and the usb 3.0 can't be change to usb 2.0 from the bios) into the Windows 7 installation on my usb stick.

The problem is that Windows can't identify the ssd. So I figured it was the motherboard chipset drivers that I needed to install, so that it could identify the nvme controller itself. The problem is that when I extract the driver, there are no .inf or .cab drivers. There are a lot of files without any extensions and basically the driver seems to be installable only on a functional installed operating system.

Any ideas how I could get a readable driver that I could browse to during the Windows 7 installer?

A:Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9350

I don't see anything on the Dell downloads for this model for Win 7. They have Win 10 and Win 8.1 drivers. Even if you get Win 7 installed I doubt that all the devices on the laptop are going to work.

I've seen other try to install Win 7 on a new system that is not designed for Win 7 and of the ones I've seen none have been successful and give up and keep their original OS.

Best option, if you can return the Dell, is to buy one that has Win 7 or that you can backward install Win 7 on it (and all devices work).

My new Dell XPS 13 9350 touchscreen started to intermittently fail & within a day or 2 it completely gave up. I also noticed that there was no touchscreen device in Device Manager (under HID section) nor any mystery USB devices there (an Internet search reckoned it could be a power problem). I did notice though that under USB Devices section there was a mystery device that said "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Called Dell Support who informed me that since it was purchased from a UK retailer I wasn't eligible for Dell support! So I called PC World...
They took me through a step which I'd already tried (uninstall & reinstall mystery USB devcie) but this time it worked - touchscreen appeared in HID section & mystery USB device vanished. Hung up the phone, moved laptop then the touchscreen failed again. This time, on loading Device Manager, it was unusable. Device Manager kept refreshing over & over again, but I did have time to see that again touchscreen had vanished from HID & the mystery USB (with same message) appeared in USB Devices. This time though the USB device would vanish & then the screen refresh.
A bit more Google searching revealed that a touchscreen is effectively a mini USB device & I wondered if the issue I was having was due to an intermittent connection. It would explain the constant refreshing of Device Manager since it was like something being conne... Read more

Hello all, I just purchased a 9350, win 10 Pro , 4GB ram, 128 SSD. I noticed that the Battery Icon would stop charging at 80%. Shows Connected , not charging at the 80% mark. I have read on the Forums about this being an issue on this 9350! SEEMS TO ME THAT THE BATTERY SHOULD ALWAYS CHARGE UP TO 100%!
So I innstalled the latest 9350 Bios and Power management drivers updates from the Dell seb site.
I thought that would correct the issue but it didnt!
Dell XPS 13 9350 battery cstill stops charging at 80%!!!
I performed the Dell ePSA F12 Diagnostic tests and the battery results are as follows.
Charge cycles 13
Battery Health 93%
Voltage 8420 millivolts, current 2717 ma.
I have also read that after some 9350 owners replaced the battery they were still haveing the issue of the battery not charging to 100%.
Anyone have the same experiences?

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a Manufacturer Refurbished Dell XPS 13 9350 (Skylake), and all has not been well.
The laptop constantly BSODs whenever I wake it from sleep. The thing is that it works without a hitch for
hours on end on a cold boot, but as soon as I wake it from sleep or hibernation, I receive a BSOD on wake 80~90% of the time, sometimes instantly and sometimes after 3-4 minutes of use.

I've already done a fresh install of Windows 10, ran memtest86 5 times with no errors returning and also manually
uninstalled/reinstalled all the latest drivers for my laptop and even ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode but the problem
persists. There were even more errors before, but after doing all my driver updates, WhoCrashed points me to ntkrnlmp.exe as the most frequent cause of BSODs.

I've attached the dump files to the thread, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

I've recently been looking into buying an eGPU Enclosure such as the AKiTiO Node or the Razer Core. I've updated all the firmware and now I am running Thunderbolt Software Version The Node and Core both specify that the computer needs to both have Thunderbolt 3 (which I have) and be compatible with external graphics. What does this mean? I have Thunderbolt 3, so wouldn't it be theoretically possible to run external graphics provided the firmware was up to date?
So in summary, my main question is this: Will/can the Dell XPS 13 9350 be able to use eGPU enclosures over Thunderbolt 3 now (or in the future if there is firmware updates being planned)?

Just received the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I've been having some intermittent black screen flickering that normally occurs in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs within a span of two or three seconds. Tech support updated all the drivers and such, but I'm still experiencing the issues. Has anyone had similar issues and possible solutions?
I looked at previous posts and the screen flickering is not where it actually distorts things on screen, it literally just looks like it flashes on and off. Any help is appreciated!

I have that problem and when it starts happening randomly, whenever I click on the Wireless Icon in windows 10, it suddenly happens again. I turned of wireless adapter in settings and to my surprise, the problem stopped!!

I just bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 QHD. I am trying to disable Adaptive brightness with this patch i downloaded from dell website APP_QHDFW_DBC_W81X64_W10X64_A00_Setup-PWD5K_ZPE
However after I unzip and run the exe file there is no reaction.

Can someone please assist.

Thank you.

A:Dell XPS 13 9350 QHD - Adaptive brightness

Is that a driver update you are downloading? That will not change any settings for your GPU.
Follow the steps below to turn off adaptive brightness:
1) Go to your power settings by left-clicking the battery symbol at the bottom right of your desktop
2) click power and sleep settings
3) click additional power settings then click "change plan settings" next to the power profile you are using
4) then, click "change advanced power settings"
5) Scroll down to Display (click the plus icon) --> Enable adaptive brightness --> then turn it off using the pull down menus.

Let me know if this works,

my Dell XPS 9350 does not boot at all. It is a brand new laptop that crashed while Windows 10 Updates were applied so I had to restart it. On restart, all that I got was a black display. Not even the Dell logo shows up so I cannot go into the bios settings or change the boot mode,...
The display seems to work as I run the display test and the colors show up but once the test is done, all that I get is the black screen.
Dell Support now offered me to send a technical guy to repair the laptop but the problem is that they do not yet have the new XPS 13 in their support list and needed 3 days to update their database. Now it turns out that they do not have some components and will not come until they have everything. Dell is not able to tell me how long this will take (very strange from my point of view).
Now my problem is that I would urgently need this laptop so that  I would like to avoid the option to simply send it back and order a new one.
So if there is someone that has a clue if this can be solved by some trick without having to change a hardware I would be glad.
As mentioned already, I did the system tests that I found in the forums but the only thing that worked was the display test.
It is the 9350 using an Intel Core i7 and the 512 GB SSD using the PCI slot.

A:Dell XPS 13 9350 Will not boot straight out of the box

Hi Tanzinge,
Thanks for posting.
Are there any beeps when the unit tries to boot?  Beep codes can help indicate what parts may have a problem.
Have you tried using an external monitor?
Please try these things and post back so the experts here can further assist.  Thanksl.

Literally anything I do the max is .78 GHz and I can barely watch a YouTube video because I am barely even using the processor. The laptop is so slow because of it. I have tried basically everything, disabling speed step in bios, adjusting power options, updating bios, updating drivers, etc.. Please help me.

A:Dell XPS 13 9350 i7 will not go past .78 GHz on the processor. PLEASE HELP

They seem to stay at the lower speed more than you might think.  While at this speed do you see the CPU utilization maintaining levels?
You state your tried different Power Schemes, have you tried the High Performance for testing?  If the speed does not increase when you select it you might want to try a reboot.

Hello, I am having trouble recently with my dell xps 13 9350. The computer starts up from OFF fine, however if I try to wake up the laptop after closing the lid or pressing the power button quickly (which in both cases causes the laptop to sleep) all i get is a blue screen with a loading wheel. The computer does not wake up and must be restarted by holding the power button for over 4 seconds.
I have had this computer for two months and this is the first issue I've had with it. Hoping someone can help me resolve this issue. Thanks!

So, my ultimate goal is to connect a Firewire 800 device (medical instrument) via thunderbolt. I got my hands on two Apple thunderbolt adapters, first a TB 3 to TB 2, and then a TB 2 to Firewire 800.

When I connect the TB 3 to TB 2, Windows says "Try improving the USB connection" and it links me to this page. Opening the thunderbolt software shows no connected devices. I have the latest drivers that I am aware of, software package version I have BIOS version 1.4.10. I have disabled the thunderbolt security in BIOS and enabled the boot related thunderbolt options.

What else can I do? Thankful for help!
