Missing SD host adapter

Q: Missing SD host adapter

I have an old HP NC6000 which I installed Windows 7 on. I can not get the SD card slot to work. At first it wouldn't see anything when I put a card in. After installing and un- installing several drivers from HP and Microsoft, now when I put a card in it shows up as being able to eject it If I want to. It does not show up in my computer as removable storage or any thing. I noticed in devise manager there is no SD host adapter listed. There is not even a heading for SD host adapter. The card works on my other laptop which is an NC6400. Do I need to install An SD host adapter?

Preferred Solution: Missing SD host adapter

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello guys!We are trying to install a Crucial m500 960Gb SSD into the hard drive bay adapter for the w540.While the drive fits, once it's connected is not snug and kind of "rattles" inside the bay adapter. It turns out that you need one of this little adapter/spacers that are present in the actual main SSD that came with the machine. We've searched everywhere for the part number or even it's name, with no luck.
Here's the picture of the part:

How can we get one?
Shouldn't this part be included in the Hard Drive Bay Adapter IV?

Installing an Adaptec AHA-150X/1510/152X SCSI Host Adapter and everything is working fine except that everytime I reboot i get the following error: "Host Adapter Diagnostic Error press F1 to boot" right after the memory count. This isn't a major problem but I would like it to boot up without having to press F1. The scanner that uses the card works just great, and there are no other noticeable problems. What am I missing here?

A:SCSI Host Adapter problems

Well, that usually means that there is some kind of memory conflict with the card.

Maybe with a sound card or modem you have installed... can you try taking out all cards but video and the SCSI? See if the problem goes away? You don't need to let it go into Windows of course - the error happens long before that.

A:SD host adapter not recognizing media

you could try to update the driver. First try in Device Manager and if that doesn't work try going to your adapter manufacture's site for an updated driver. Ask if you don't know how to do that, someone will talk you through it.

I was scanning some documents into Adobe Photoshop two nights ago using a scsi scanner and all was working fine, I installed a USB printer that same night then after testing it and was sure all was working I shutdown, but the next night when I went back into adobe photoshop to continue scanning I just get an error message saying;

"error scanner not ready! there does not seem to be a scanner installed. Please check the scsi connection and the scsi Id number"

The scsi Id is "7" and the scanner is a Blackwidow, I think made by Devcom, the interface used for scanning is called widowview, when I click on acquire scanner the Id changes to"0" and just displays the above error message

I looked in the device manager and an exclamation mark is by the scsi adapter & in the device status there is a message that reads;

"This device is using an interrupt request resource that is in use by another device and cannot be shared.
You must change the conflicting setting or remove the real mode driver causing the conflict (code 30)"

I have tried changing the IRQ which is set at (10) but it wont let me, it says windows will manage it even if I untick use automatic settings

I have looked through some other IRQ's and there are two others set at (10) these are pci audio device & IRQ holder for PCI steering, could that be the conflict?

Appreciate some assistance.

Was changing BIOS settings (PnP/PCI Configuration) while installing a modem (IRQ 3 was set to Legacy/ISA), and enabled "Reset Configuration Data". What in the heck possessed me to do that, do not know. Saved changes, exited BIOS, and after
that, got the following message on the screen:
"Host adapter hard reset timeout.
BIOS not installed.
Unable to enable/disable host adapter shadow RAM."

Have a SCSI hd connected to an Adaptec Host Adapter (1540CF/1542CF). Tried Control>A to access the BIOS of the AHA, but NOTHING happened. Needless to say, cannot access the SCSI drive C:/

Did I fry the goose on this one? Needless to say, need some help.

I am using Windows XP. I recently installed a new modem. The modem works beautifully, but I cannot print. When I look at the device manager I notice that the Adaptec AHA-1502 SCSI Host Adapter is using IRQ 10 and I/O Range 0140-0154. THe Generic 56K HCF Data Fax Modem is also using IRQ 10 I/O Range EC00-EC07 and Memory Range E9000000 - E900FFFF. There is a check mark on both property boxes for use automatic settings. No Conflicts are listed in the conflicting device list for the modem, but the conflicting device list for the SCSI host adapter lists these conflicts:
Interrupt Request 10 used by: Generic 56k HCF Data Fax Modem
Intel(r) 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller.
The Use automatic check box is checked but grayed out in the property box for the modem, but is checked and not grayed out in the property box for the SCSI host adapter. Any suggestions?

A:Modem Conflicts with SCSI Host Adapter

If it were mine I would go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and delete all references to a modem.

Shut down and move your modem to PCI #3 or the third slot down from the AGP slot)

Boot up and enter BIOS setup menu.....when you get there, then go to the PnP area and DISABLE it if you are using WinXP. (If it were Win98, then you would enable it)

Save and Exit and reboot

When it boots, add the latest and best drivers from the manufacturer's website for the modem.

That should solve your problem.

What network adapter settings mean vms can communicate with each other but not with host? Thanks
Vmware Workstation 10

A:Network adapter settings to isolate vm from host

Hi there

Some sort of Switch / subnet probably required here with firewall settings also perhaps to block communications from the subnet.

I think this is more of a Networking issue than a VM one itself. The other question - do you still want the HOST to have access to the Internet.

I've only done this where I've had a SINGLE VM which needed Internet access for a "Dodgy site" --was testing a Virus and so I attached the NIC physically to the VM and disabled networking on the HOST while I was testing.

However if you need Internet and LAN access on the HOST and you have more than one VM running concurrently I should ask the Network gurus as this is outside my area of expertise. I suspect also you might need two Physical NIC's for this - one for the Host and one for the subnet your VM's are on - but I can't give any more help than that.

Try asking @Kari -- I'm sure he's done things like that but he uses HYPER-V which is also a good system if you have W10 pro or Enterprise.

I want to connect several VM's mainly Cisco router to same network adapter (vmnet1 host-only network adapter) and want to pass multiple VLAN's as Tagged. I am able to achieve this requirement through bridged network adapter but unable to do so through host-only
adapter. I am using Windows 7 as main OS and VMware Workstation 11.
I have gone through several tech forums but unable to find answer for it. Though in multiple forums one statement was common that Windows will strip the VLAN information when packet received/transmits through network adapter.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

Hey guys, quick noob question here..

I'm trying to hook up a new wireless network in my house and bought a new N 300mbps router and an upgraded wireless adapter.

When setting up the router, does it need to be hard connected to a host PC or can it just be connected to the modem only for the network to operate?
I want the modem and router to be off in another room while i connect to it via my new wireless network adapter on my PC. Does the network (router/modem) need to be connected to a host PC to work properly? If this is the case, then i just bought a new network adapter for no reason....

Thanks for any assistance.

A:Wireless adapter, router- is host computer required??

Router goes to modem. That's all you need. The only time a hard-wired connection is handy is when you want to change the router's settings or update its firmware, but otherwise it needs to be connected to nothing else.

I installed a PCI firewire card that i ordered, and my computer doesnt boot. It makes a couple of beeping noises (more than usual) and the computer just doesnt boot. I think it might be an IRQ conflict between the PCI firewire card and my new AGP graphics card, because my monitor doesn't work whenever the firewire card is in. These are some devices in my PCI slots: sound card, modem card, and ethernet adapter. Here are the specs: 500 MHz PC, pentiumIII, 512MB SDRAM, Windows XP Pro.

Is there a way I can install my PCI firewire card and make the computer boot? Thanks in advance for any advice.

A:Installed PCI 1394 Firewire Host Adapter, computer doesnt boot

Look up the beep codes in your motherboards manual and see what they mean exactly. It can be something as simple as a loose keyboard cable.

You could also try putting the controller in another PCI slot. The first and the last PCI slots are not the best ones to use since usually those share resources with other motherboard devices.

I've run mbam and tdss killer and some other tools as well. I found lots of various infections and malwarebytes removed all the infections. TDSS killer found a rootkit and cleaned it successfully. Nothing weird spiking the CPU, and no suspicious processes in taskmgr. Seems all the dll and app files were removed. I've checked DNS settings and TCP/IP settings and all is well. However, I'm getting lots of google search redirects, I have an idea that's it's all in host file, but hosts is well hidden. HOSTS file does not appear in the drivers/ect dir at all, and yes I have show hidden files and OS files ticked. I've tried searching for in in WINPe environment to no avail. It seems like it's hidden from the Windows file system or something. I'm running WINXP Pro SP3 fyi. Anyone see this before?? The key is how to find the HOSTS file. Once I get there I'm sure I'll find 100+ entries that I can remove and save myself an image restore on this dirty box.

any feedback would be most excellent.

A:missing or well hidden host file...

There may be more than one hosts file, some defense programs install one automatically on the system.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc is the file path for mine, easily found by using the XP Search function.

I have two USB ports which recently stopped working.  They are both located on the left side of the notebook. There are two ports on the right side which are operational. The two non-working ports have power can I can use them for charging a device (phone, etc.). However, they do not recognize any USB device. No Errors are emitted but no devices show up either. Device manager reported a controller as having a problem. I unistalled the device (Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller) and then ran a scan for hardware changes. The scan did not detect the controller. I have a feeling this is a hardware failure of the motherboard but am hopeful there may be another solution. Device Manager also reports a problem with USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller  Thanks,John

Hello, I'm not sure if these issues are related but here's the issues I'm having and I cannot find a resolution anywhere. I appreciate the guidance that is provided.

What I noticed in the device manager is the RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller and the SDA Standard Compliant SD Host controller is that they both have an ! exclamation point next to them. I try to update the driver and it will state that the driver is loaded and working correctly, but still shows up with an exclamation point next to it. I cannot figure out a resolution to this.

Also, I'm not sure if those issues are related to this but I am missing my DVD player. It shows in the BIOS but not in the Device manager or in my computer.

Can anybody provide and guidance on what may be the issue?

I am running Vista home premium on an HP dv6815nr.

Hello everyone this is my first post, this issue arose about a week ago when i was trying to get a memory card reader to function at full speed.

I decided to uninstall all USB controllers from my device manager and restart the computer, when it came back on it installed the SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller, i now have two SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller in device manager and a few usb hubs, but i cannot get back the SiS 7002 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller. I was running windows XP SP3 but have reverted back to SP2 in attempt to have the drivers reload. No success yet.

In the BIOS, USB 2.0 Host Controller is disabled because when i enable it i have no functioning usb ports on my PC, i am guessing becuase there is driver for it. I have tried downloading a number of USB 2.0 drivers but i keep getting the message that i cannot install them because i am not using XP SP1.

I am racking my brains on what i can do aside from a format, attached is my Everest information, i hope someone can help me correct this issue.

I just installed windows 8.1 pro on an MSI z97 pc mate motherboard with I5 3.3 ghz processor, 16 gb ddr3 1600 MHz ram, with embedded realtek pcie gbe NIC. I checked and found that hardware virtualization is enabled by default in the BIOS.

I tried to set up a virtual switch using the latest bios and drivers from MSI. I created a virtual switch choosing the external option and the share with host OS option. I then connected to the VM. No network connectivity on VM but host still worked.

I then used autopatcher to update windows 8.1 on the vm. I removed and reinstalled the virtual switch choosing external option and share with host OS option. Same conditions occurred.
And then I installed the latest NIC driver. Same problem - media disconnected.

I tried this process with the latest driver from the realtek website which was a couple years more up to date. I had such high hopes! Same problem.

I then used msconfig to prevent all non-Microsoft services from starting and rebooted. I removed and recreated the switch and I was still hoping for success. Same exact conditions occurred.

These are the conditions that occur whenever an external switch with host os sharing enabled is installed in between all of these troubleshooting steps. It looks exactly the same every time...

Hello - I am running Windows Vista and just in the past few weeks I have noticed that drivers for my Bamboo tablet and HP AIO printer are missing - software utilities are there, but no drivers.  In addition, I use GoToMyPC to access this Vista system

A:Tablet and Printer Driver, GoToMyPC host software missing/deleted in Vista

What will appear when open Device manager?
From your description, you mentioned Webroot Antivirus, I would suggest boot into clean boot to have a test.
To place the computer in a clean boot state, follow the steps below:
1.     Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2.     On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3.     Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4.     Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5.     Click OK.
6.     When you are prompted, click Restart.
7.     After the computer starts, start the installation and check whether the problem is resolved.
If possible, it is better to uninstall Webroot Antivirus and check.

Hello, I am showing ?no connections present? on my pc. First thing I did was change he cord from the modem. Nothing. Verified drivers on network adapter were up to date. Didn?t solve it. Took it into Best Buy, network adapter showed up there just fine, connection worked. Took it home, got a new modem from xfinity, new cable. Plugged it all up. Same problem.

WiFi works just fine. Streaming cable connection to tv works just fine.

What do I try next?

My girlfriend has an Emachines P3104 - AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.80GHz 1gig ram, xp pro sp2. At some point recently her teenage boys took it upon themselves to install a 2nd hard drive that they found in another Emachines that no longer worked. Shortly thereafter the standby button became greyed out and that function no longer worked. Then we could not get the computer to recognize or install the printer. Due to these and other various problems that accumulated over time, we decided to re-install the o.s. Everything went fine except that even with a fresh install, the device mgr does not show any display adapters listed, nor did reinstalling solve the "standby" button problem. (ACPI?) The symptom is that the display will not open or shut a page normally rather it seems to "scroll" in a jerking fashion. Plus the sound does not work either. I suspect these problems are all related (on a technical level) but am not sure. If anyone has had these problems, or not, but has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year

You need to find the drivers. Non-ACPI-compliant drivers will also prevent stand-by from functioning. Use these apps to get details on what adapter you have and what mainboard you have so you can install its chipset driver.

Hello, I'm running Windows 8.1HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-k200 CTO Model #:K2Z69AV Last night before going to bed, I shut down my laptop as normal, and it installed a Windows Update.  This isn't anything uncommon, so I let it run as normal, and it shut down, not displaying any errors.   I get up today and go to get on my laptop, it no longer had a wireless connection.  All my other wireless devices worked, so this was odd.  I go to check the Network and Sharing Center, my wireless adapter is completely gone.  Tried running the troubleshooter, no luck at all.   I tried doing a system restore to a couple days ago, that did not fix the issue.  I uninstalled the Windows updates (except one that would not allow me to uninstall it), rebooted, no luck. I checked under device manager and I just have Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.  Just in case, I turned the option off to have Windows turn it off to save power.I attempted downloading the wireless drivers from the HP site, but that did not seem to fix the issue either.  I'm kind of unsure what to do at this point.  Yes, I can have my laptop connected via a wired connection, but that sort of defeats the purpose.  Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated!

Hello guys!
I got a little issue with my new ADSL USB modem. It's a D-Link 210.
My specs: Windows 7 Professional x86, nVidia nForce networking adapter (Ethernet) (onboard) and the installed driver from the modem: D-Link DSL-210 USB ADSL LAN Adapter (installed with the CD that came with the ADSL modem).

Well, there is my issue: when I installed the driver for the modem, it didn't created an entry in the "Network Adapters" (Network and Sharing Center>Change Adapter Settings). I can see it listed in the "Device Manager", but it is not there where I need it.
My problem with this, is because I need to create a PPPoE dial-up connection, and when I insert my login info to connect, Windows can't find the USB internet connect (I believe it tries to connect using the nVidia adapter, but it is unplugged)

If I don't need the network adapter to be listed in the "Network and Sharing Center" hwo do I create a dial-up connection that uses the USB intead the Ethernet adapter?

Visit your manufacturer's website, find the support section and go to their driver downloads area. You will need to search by model number and you should find the driver you need. If you can provide me with your model number, I can track that down real quick.

Greetings. My Pavillion Elite HPE is about 2-3 years old. It recently crashed hard and does not work. I was able to reinstall Windows 7 but I lost all of my data and programs. The computer now works but can't connect to the internet. HP said to contact Microsoft and Microsoft said to contact HP. Then Microsoft called back and said tell HP the computer model number and they can tell you which network adapter is needed. Then I can download? Not sure if I need hardware, software, driver, etc. Please help!

A:Network Adapter Missing?

OK, try this. Apologies, I was taking a guess, but I didn't realize you didn't have another PC at home. If it wasn't the one, I was hoping you could download to another PC and try the other ones. It must be one of these two (likely the first one): Original Atheros Wireless Networking Controller Driver Rev. A 31.7 MB Nov 22, 2012 Download HP's Terms of Use Details Original Realtek Networking Controller Driver 7.26.902.2010 Rev. A 1.7 MB Jun 10, 2013 Download HP's Terms of Use Details Fairly certain the second one is for your ethernet port. You will want to install that one too, if you think you will connecting at any point directly to a router via the ethernet adapter.

can we see a device manager screen shot
Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the screen shot and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you happen to be using a keyboard with Windows 8, the quickest way to open Device Manager is via its shortcut on the Power User Menu, accessible by pressing the WINDOW and the X keys together.

A friend has a laptop and the network adapter has suddenly vanished and windows can not find any networks now. I have found the actual adapters in device manager, they were hidden, but they all say they are working correctly. The adapter doesn't show up in the networking and sharing centre where it should be. Only the ethernet one does.

Please try to uninstall in the Device Manager then reboot and reintall the Network Adapter.

Did that solve the problem?
