I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. I have recently purchased a t430; i5 3320M, 12 GB ram, 240 GB SSD and Nvidia NVS 5400M. I was thinking about doing a CPU upgrade. I was wondering which CPU would be a good choice. I don't want to spend a lot of money and i don't want it to overheat too much. Are there any suggestions for an upgrade that is relatively cheap but still a fair amount better than the i5 3320M?  Thanks!

A:CPU upgrade for t430

Hi altegaard,Warm Greetings & welcome to Lenovo Community, happy to have you here.As I understand that you have query regarding CPU upgrade for ThinkPad T430.
This system can handle 3rd Geneartion Intel processors according to parts list Intel® Core? i7-3520M (04W4139) will be an ideal choice.

I hope the above information helped you.

Hey, so I need some advice regarding an upgrade:   So I've had the T430 for about three years now and I need to upgrade. The only two things that bother me are the terrible screen and the weight. Comparing the T430 with any new laptops the screen and weight difference is obvious.  However, I still LOVE it. I changed the keyboard to the T420 one (easier to use by feel, still don't know why Lenovo changed the keyboards). I also love that it is so upgradeable and modular. So, in summary: POSITIVE:1. VERY easy to upgrade and it's very easy to access RAM, hard drive, etc.. PLUS I can have a main SSD with multiple hot-swapable HDD in the ultrabay via the caddy. That's a TB of swapable storage for cheap!!! 2. Legacy build. i.e: Lid latch, removable battery, thinklight, and more ports than I  can count. (Proven very useful many times) 3. Can't emphasize upgradability enough. It's a must to save money in the long run. 4. Pretty much bulletproof. Have dropped it several times over three years, not even a scratch on it. Plus I spilled some liquids on it too, still runs fine to this day. NEGATIVE: 1. Terrible, low-res screen.  2. Kinda heavy and thick. So, to keep it short: I'd like to get a new Lenovo laptop has a better screen and is lighter than the T430, but that keeps as many of the previously mentioned positives.  What are some of the options out there? Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

A:Upgrade from a T430

I don't think you will find many new ThinkPad with the positives that you mentioned. -ThinkLight is definitely gone. -T440p/T540p was the last ThinkPad T series to have a Ultrabay. -Intel is transitioning to solder on CPU for all model in the next generation. Terrible LCD can be fixed by using IPS FHD LCD on the market, do a DIY upgrade. Also, heavy and thick is related to the positive features that you like, upgradability, multiple storage options, removable battery. If you want light, nothing will be upgradable.

Hi Jai,

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you are facing slow system issue with your T430.
According to psref it can handle 16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3, non-parity,
Also to add on you can even install SSD in your system so it will increase the system startup speed. For reference check this thread

I originally bought this off eBay about 2 years ago. The only issue it has had is that the battery seemed to drain quickly as whenever I had the laptop on without the AC adaptor plugged in, the computer would shut off on its own within 10 seconds or so. As long as I plugged in the AC adaptor to the laptop, it ran with no problems However, when I tried to power on the laptop yesterday, even with the AC adaptor, it would no longer power on. I did just come back home from the airport, so maybe that had something to do with it? I followed all the steps here: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001127.htm After following some of the steps, when I hit the power button on the laptop, it would flash for a second or so, and then stop flashing. Nothing ever appeared on the screen What is the next step for troubleshooting? Do I just have to remove the hard drive and/or RAM and place them back in and try powering it on again? Or take it to a repair shop?

Hello everyone, How can I insert alt+ characters on T430 keyboard? For example, if I wanted to insert en dash on my regular desktop keyboard, I would press alt+0150 (on numeric keyboard). However, I cannot find the right combo on my thinkpad keyboard. Thanks for your help, Srdjan

A:Alt+ characters on Lenovo T430 keyboard

In order to execute those ASCII/ANSI codes, you must have NumLock on.  The involves the Fn (blue) key.  With it on, you then use alt  = the small numbers located on the lower right coner of keys to the right of the Trackpoint head.  This is not easy.  I prefer to run charmap.exe, minimize it to the task bar, and copy/paste the characters I need. I don't know if the old standard way (Num Lock On, ALT+nnn) would work with an external full keyboard.

Hey Lenovo Forum:

I'm having a battery charging problem that seems slightly different from any on this forum so far. I just acquired a T430 running Windows 7 (64-bit) like a charm. After a few issues with the audio drivers, everything has been running smoothly.

Abruptly, yesterday, when I plugged it into the wall socket (the same socket that it had sucessfully charged on earlier) it failed to charge. Thinking it was the outlet, I tested it. The outlet and adapter are both working fine (the adapter powers the computer no problem with the battery removed from the system). The lock switch on the battery is in the propper position (i've tried both). The battery is not overheated (it's cool to the touch). I tried removing everything and holding the power button (apparently that discharges some built up charge in the system) then reconnecting the battery and AC adapter, nothing.

I just downloaded the power manager which (when the laptop is, in fact, running off of AC power (the battery charge indicator hasn't draining in hours of continuous use) reads:

You can definitely upgrade to 2x 8GB = 16GB total.

I don't know about 32GB. I seem to recall reading that either the chipset or motherboard don't allow it. In any case I don't think 16GB SODIMMs are available.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and hope I've posted this in the right place. I recently bought a brand new T430 think pad, I'm very happy with it except for the poor screen. After searching extensively on forums regarding upgrading the screen [1366x768] I found it was possible. The general recommendation was to buy a Dell Alienware M14x R2 [1600x900] or similar. I found several on ebay so I contacted a reliable seller to see if his M14x R2 would fit without any modification, gave them my screen model number [Samsung LTN140AT20, FRU04Y1556] The seller replied saying they didn't recommend changing the screen. I tried another seller and got the same response. I've checked the listed screens and they are an identical fit to mine. Perhaps the sellers are taking precautions against damaged screens claims?I'd really appreciate some help finding a seller who stocks the M14x R2 that's compatible with my T430. Thanks.

There are lots of part numbers with or without TPM, and with or without AMT.  Also, numbering changed.  Any will work for most users.  As far as the fan, again, there are several equivalent part numbers.  Any of them will work as long as they have the arm and pad for the GPU.

A:T430 Display Upgrade?

It is certainly "technically" possible. You replace the panel and the cable. This is not considered a customer-replaceable part, so you may affect the warranty status. The backlight fuse on this model is VERY easy to blow, so make sure the battery is removed, and you are grounded. Also, I suggest unplugging the cable from the motherboard before working behind the panel. It would be poor to blow out your motherboard.

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad T430 is not powering on.
Check if it's something to do with your AC adapter or battery. Insufficient power might cause some of those issues as well. Take the battery out and try to power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Try starting the laptop using good known AC adapter and battery.

Try connecting the device to an external monitor and check if it displays properly.

Please do let me know the happenings!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I have a Lenovo T430 running Windows 7 Home Premium OA (64-bit). I am trying to reimage the laptop, but no longer have the installation disc. I have scoured the web and Lenovo frums to no avail. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options." I don't even need a physical disk; I simply need the ISO to reimage the laptop. Please advise.

Hi, My computer, a 2012 T430, is running at 16W according to power manager at idle, with no program running, in airplane mode and brightness at minimum. My consumption when I got the PC was perhaps at 8W when doing some light work (such as using word) as it could last for about 12 hours with a 90kWh battery. Now, with my battery (granted not new, it has 45kWh remaining), my computer lasts no more than 2 to 3 hours in the same conditions.  I tried disabling the nVidia graphics card, and deleting its driver. I replaced the fan and cleaned up the computer as much as I could and installed an SSD (samsung 850 evo) rather than the original HDD, which means that I also did a clean install of windows 7. Anyone facing the same problem or have any solution? Thanks in advance !Cheers,Florian

Hi all, First of all I would like to take a moment and write my history with this experience. Last year I had a Dell Precision M4500 (i7-720QM and nVidia Quadro FX880M) which it had to be my eGPU machine. But using FL Studio alot, the cpu didn't kept the pace so I had to make a change. My research got to my Thinkpad T430 because Ivy Bridge platform can get you up to 90% of peak performance of your eGPU solution. When I had my Dell M4500, I have ordered the EXP GDC V8 Expresscard solution at a pretty fair and decent price (Christmas sales) from Banggood. Shipping to Romania was quite long, almost 2 months. In the meantime bought from a local guy, a Dell DA-2 220W power adapter which I heard it is plug'n'play. After arrival, I found out that I don't have the PCI-E power adapter for the graphic card, in my case a Gigabyte Radeon 6850 OC 1GB. That's the only card I have so, I was aware that I might need a display monitor. After another months of searching, found out on Banggood the holy PCI-E adapter specialy for EXP GDC solution. To be assured , bought 2 cables (just in case ) because the shipping was 1 month and 2 weeks (long, I know!). Well, last night I was dying to fire it up, so I put my Panasonic TV ( don't have a display monitor, lame, I know...) and put all cables and adapters together, the expresscard in T430 and fire it. My specs :i7-3610QM, 16GB HyperX Impact CL9, 1600x900, Intel HD4000 iGPU, Windows 7 64bit.After Windows loaded, my Radeon 6850 was found in D... Hi,I bought thinkpad t430. I have admin password I can log on and use it... but it seems my laptoo doesn't work properly. I can't change user name or password as normal....and many minor things like this. Pre installed OS is win8... but now win7 is installed and says it is not active. I tried to restore it to factory state... In the bios utility which I entered by F8 and enter (if I won't tap on enter, it win7 will start normaly) there is no reset.... option. I tried NOVO button, no reaction in both started or after shut down. What should I do?

It is impossible to do chkdsk /f (Or the GUI equivalent) on C: on Lenovo my T430 2347A31.C: is the system drive so I am told a check has to be scheduled for the next reboot. But at the next reboot I see the message that the chkdsk is about to start and to press any key to abort chkdsk but it always acts like a key was pressed even though no key was pressed, and the chkdsk is always aborted. Please can I have some proper help with this not just stupid blind deinal that Lenovo could ever make such a mistake. The PC is running the original WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit.

A:How to factory reset lenovo T430 without novo button

There is no novo button.  You enter the BIOS by F1.  F8 gives windows startup options.  Some win8 licensed machines came with win8 and some were downgraded to win7, but all would have been activated.  F11 will restore, but it sounds like somebody installed an incorrect copy of windows, which might have overlaid the restore partition.  In that case, you will need to buy a copy of windows from Lenovo or elsewhere.

First time posting, and not very educated when it comes to computers so bear with me. My screen cracked today on my T430. It still had image on the screen but very distorted. I have a working backup T430. I pulled the screen out of the back up and put in my main comp. My main will boot up (you can even hear the windows jingle but the screen had no power. I then tested both the good screen and cracked screen on the backup T430 and both lit up fine. But neither screen will work on the main T430. i then switched the cable that goes from the motherboard to screen but still same situation, works fine on the back up but not main. I hooked it up to my TV through the HDMI cable and I get the display/homescreen on the TV, and I can use the laptop like that. One thing I did notice is that when I boot the laptop up or shut it down there is a very very very slight change in the screen darkeness. I only notice this because the sun was behind me and shining on the screen. When I noticed this it had the craked screen installed. I tried to adjust the screen brightness with the laptop running but it didnt change anything Do you guys/gurls have any input or solutions? Thanks in advanced
