Yoga 3 Pro 1370 ghost touch when lid closed

Q: Yoga 3 Pro 1370 ghost touch when lid closed

I have a Yoga 3 Pro 1370. I am getting "ghost touches" on the touch screen when the lid is closed (I am using an attached monitor and screen). The touch screen should be disabled when the lid is closed. Is there a fix for this? I have searched for other reports of this problem and have found some other posts and links to solutions. However these are all (as far as I can tell) solutions for similar issues on other models and do not apply to my laptop. Please note that I am looking for a solution for this issue specifically for the Yoga 3 Pro 1370 model.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been having problems periodically with ghost touches but only in the bottom right of my screen. Sometimes I can continue to use the touch screen and pad, other times it's just stuck. When I can move the cursor it flickers like it is trying to go back to the corner. There's the grey touch circle so it seems like it's registering a touch. Sorry if this is a repeat, I haven't found any solutions for my model.

OK so I have a number of problems with the fifteen or so ThinkPad Yoga 12 devices we have purchased. Some of these problems are being addressed in other threads (the black screen on start up which requires you swipe the screen in Windows 10 release 2 being one of them), but I'll just start with one problem for now to keep things clear. On my desk I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12. I have a ThinkPad UltraDock Pro USB 3.0 docking station, the newest revision. Connected are an external mouse and keyboard, a LAN cable, and 2 external monitors. The Yoga 12 is connected via the USB 3 cable, and the lid is closed. Both screens are up, LAN and input devices working, everything seems good. Every so often, the mouse cursor will magically jump to the bottom-right of the left external monitor and a left-click event is registered causing the Windows calendar to pop up. Happens maybe twice an hour. All devices are running clean Windows 10 1511 builds, fully patched. Also running ThinkPad System Update to get all latest drivers and latest BIOS revision. Latest DisplayLink driver is applied. Problem persists across all devices. How do we stop the ghost clicks from happening? The issue is driving my users crazy. The docking station specifically listed compatability with the Yoga 12 model so I don't see why there should be a problem. I've heard reports the situation is improved if the lid of the Yoga 12 is left open, but we lose deskspace this way and my users tell me this isn't a ... Read more

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of you computer?

Just some guessing.

Guess 1: I noticed there was some other discussion about "Ghost Clicks" on this forums. Can you check if those clicks are made by the touch screen? Does it shows the Windows animation like someone is touching the screen?
Just in case can you post your full model number and the hardwareID of your monitor.

Also take a look at this article: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-1470/documents/ht1...

Guess 2: There was a driver update for Synaptics that shuts down the trackpoint when you close the lid. Can you check if your computer has a Synaptics trackpoint/touchpad. Check out the version of the driver.

...this are only wild guesses according to what I had read on this forums. But if you tell me that you don't have those problems if you disconnect the Ultradock Pro USB 3.0, maybe the issue is somewhere else.

Hello, I bought a Yoga 700 ISK14 last weekend and after formatting the disk and installing a clean version of Win10 Pro I am experiencing ghost touch problems with the screen. A short investigation into the problem via this board lead me to the conclusion that I am by far not the only one with this problem and that back in march this year lenovo promised to release an official fix for this problem. Questions:1) Is this official fix available as of now and where can I find it?2) How can I find out if I have a LG screen so that I can apply the "unofficial" Yoga 3 14 ghost touch fix? Thanks, David

I am having continued problems with the so-called "ghost touches" on my brand new Yoga 700. And I would add that this is the second brand new one I have had, as I had to return the first one due to a significant hardware problem.  I have seen this problem discussed with respect to the Yoga 3, and I saw a proposed solution, which had something to do with updating the firmware. I did that, but the problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated. For what it's worth, the ghost touches do not appear unless I have had my laptop open for a little while (at least an hour, typically). Thanks

Hi everyone, I am experience a lot of problems with the touch screen on my Yoga 3 14. At least once a day I am getting ghost touches, i.e. it starts thinking that the screen is being pressed when it isn't. It closes windows, opens the keyboard and types, etc. I've noticed it mostly in laptop mode, but that may be because that's how I use it most of the time. For now I resort to putting it into hibernation or having to do a full reboot, and it fixes it for a while but always starts up again. It happens in different places on the screen, usually just one at a time but occasionally multiple touches. I've had the laptop for 2 months and have had the problem since week 1 or 2.  Is there any solution to this besides calling support and having them replace the screen/other parts?

hi hucktopia,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your problem might be similar to this thread.

If you barely use the Touchscreen to navigate around, can you try these steps to disable the feature:
1. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter (this should open the Device Manager).
2. On the Device Manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    - Sample image

3. When finished, reboot the system and observe.

If the above procedure works, you should be able to use the system normally but I recommend that you report the issue by contacting lenovo support.

Hello everyone, My Y3P 1370 works like for a week plugged to charger and it charges but suddenly and out of nowhere, it stops charging the battery while windows still reports the charger is connected and charging. However it just doesn't. After a while the laptop dies on me and doesn't boot at all. The charger indicator is flashing red and the power button has the white led on state at the moment. I found a solution to my issue by removing the backplate and disconnecting the battery flex from the motherboard. Turning on pc without the battery. It boots fine. Turn it off and reconnect battery flex to motherboard, laptop starts charging and running properly. I have been having this issue for a very long time and i really need a permanent solution for it. Thank you so much for your time and help.

Sorry to hear about your issues!

I haven't encountered the USB disabling issue, however, hopefully I can assist with the power issues.

An indicator as to whether the charger is functioning or not is to look for the power button to be illuminated when powered off. The cable provides two busses: one that powers the laptop (20 volts), and the standard USB power (5 volts).

For lack of a better description, does your wall power adapter have some "play" on it when plugged in? Does the laptop charge until you slightly move the power adapter?

The User Profile issue sounds like an issue with the Windows 10 upgrade. I used to have these issues when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8. The best bet would be to run a refresh. Unfortunately, it will erase your apps, but should retain your user data:

After this, try and install newer USB drivers designed for Windows 10:

I am using a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 running Windows 10. The touchscreen never fails to work but the touchpad however causes a lot of problems. It will randomly stop working when I am using it, often when opening my laptop or when right clicking, but often without any apparent cause as well. One temporary method I have found that somtimes fixes the issue is to go into the HIDs in Device Manager and disable/re-enable the 9CE1 I2C HID Device. Sometimes this option will have a yellow triangle indicating that the device will not start and display this message in the driver properties: This device cannot start. (Code 10)A request for the HID descriptor failed. Other times however there is no acknowledgement of driver issues and attempting to enable the devie will cause the device manager to not respond, restarting my PC in recovery mode after a "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" message and wiping my recent files. I have tried everything from uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, updating the BIOS and disabling the driver to boot in safe mode. When updating the driver software through the device manager, it says the latest version is installed: The driver version is 10.0.10586.0, it says it is from 2006-06-21. Has anyone else had this issue before with their Yoga? Hello,  I'm in a bit of a pickle, in an attempt to reinstall Windows 8.1 after numerous Windows 10 installation fails, I was successful in that aspect.. However, when I tried to reinstall drivers, especially this one Intel Serial I/O Driver for Windows 8.1 64-bit - Lenovo YOGA 3 Pro-1370 It froze and I had to force restart the computer. To my terrible luck, the computer doesn't boot anymore. I tried looking at it through Ubuntu live cd and it reads the disk and shows the partitions but I cannot write to them or even clear them.  I inferred that the hard drive was the problem, so I've ordered one but then I'm thinking about it again and maybe it had something to do with that driver flashing something to bios. I don't know where to go from here, none of the recoveries work or anything. Please advise

If you can get into the BIOS, disable Fast Boot and Secure Boot. These would be the only settings in the BIOS withholding boot from a healthy partition.

The port on my Yoga has been acting up for a few weeks.  It was acting like the charging port was loose.  However, as of last night, it does not see that the charging cord is plugged in at all.  However, it is actually charging a tiny bit, very slowly.  I already attempted to discharge any static and this didn't make any difference.  The regular USB ports seem to be having some trouble recognizing that something is plugged in as well.   Definitely not too happy with the charging system on this computer.  I have already had to replace the USB cord which just stopped working about a year ago. Any suggestions?

Hi All, So I've had this aesthetically pleasing yoga 3 pro for about a month with the purpose for it to be used as a Uni Laptop.  However I've come across a few issues that I am hoping I can get some help with. Firstly, I've lost all ability to use the touchscreen. Windows Device Managers is seeing it, but I have no way to enable/disable or test. Is there something I am missing? Secodly, through basic use I am finding the CPU and RAM usage well in excess of 80% for a lot of the time, with the system coming to a near grinding halt if I have approximately a dozen chrome tabs open, a couple of office docs and youtube or spotify running....this is a little worrying. Specification wise the laptop should be able to run the with very little hassle. Hi folks, I've had my Yoga for several years and it's probably the best laptop I've owned out of many. I live in a dusty environment and several previous laptops expired prematurely due to the accumulation of dust inside the case. I of course don't have that problem anymore with the Yoga. But even though I clean the keyboard regularly I expected a problem some day. That day occured two weeks ago when the Left Shift key started acting up. The action is fine but unless I press the left shift key sharply it will not be recognized. Am I correct that the keyboard is a sealed unit and not servicable? No liquids were spilled so it has to be the debris. I am hesitant to use a powerful vacuum cleaner due to a static discharge and using compressed air could just drive the contamination deeper.... Any other ideas? TIA,JRH

A:Yoga 3 Pro 1370 single key malfunction

The keyboard can be replaced, but not serviced.  I believe Lenovo only sells the entire top as a unit, but you can find just the keyboard itself on eBay.  It needs a lot of disassembly to get to it and the keyboard is held in by lots of screws, but I have done it and it is certainly possible.  Here is an example:

I am not familiar with this particular seller and this is not a specific recommendation.

I purchased my Yoga 3 1370 from Best Buy in January of 2014. Glitch-y from the start, slow OS (and then I upgraded to Windows 10, even better...), calls back and forth with Lenovo Support and brought to Best Buy numerous times. Then this past September the Yoga stopped turning on completely. Brought into Best Buy again, tested the power cord, USB plug, etc. and determined the motherboard was fried. Called Lenovo as was told because the warranty of ONE YEAR was up, there was nothing they could do and I would have to purchase a new motherboard. End of story. Extremely frustrated. After spending over $1,100 for a supposedly top of the line product and multiple hours getting it fixed over 2 years, I have what is essentially a doorstop. I will never recommend Lenovo to anyone, both for product quality and customer care.

My laptop suddenly stopped charging. I've checked the adapter, it still provides the USB power to charge my mobile phone. I can also charge my phone from the residual charge in the battery. So the remaining possibilities are that the charger isn't producing 20V power, the wire has gone bad or there's a problem within the laptop.  The replacement charger costs a pretty penny and will take time. Is there any way of checking if the wire or the charger block are working or not ? The alternative of taking it to Lenovo sucks, can't work for a while. ThanksRahul

A:Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 1370 not charging

First, is it still under warranty? Many are.   If it is, call support.   Do you know anyone with another machine where you can borrow an adapter?  The Yoga 700 and Yoga 900 use the same sort of plug except they have a max power draw of 65W.  The 700 and 900 don't work right on the Y. 3 pro's 40-w adapter, but your machine is OK with the larger one.  I looked at the adapter and the power cord and  it would be difficult to test the output with a meter, without shorting something out.  I have all sorts of tools and meters, and I takeapart and fix machines, so if it were mine, I would open the machine and pick up the input leads from inside and test with a meter.  If you are not comfortable doing that kind of thing, don't risk making it worse.  DON'T OPEN UP AND WORK ON A MACHINE THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I bought this Lenovo in November 2015. I have found that it operates really slowly ie. when I open a new tab for internet or open another program, it takes a while falsoor anything to open. Also, it gets really hot around the hinge area so Im not sure if this affects performance.I contacted Lenovo about how hot the Yoga was getting and was told that this slimline model does not have a fan so will get hotter than older style laptops.I chose this model to replace the U330 touch (which worked  fine but had a problem with so John Lewis repalced it with this model).Another issue I have with this model is the battery life seems so short. The U330 Touch lasted mcuh longer, so I keep this one contatcly charging (as advised by Lenovo representative). Why does this Lenvo operate so slowly?  Ive done a wifi speed check and its around 50mbs.Another complaint is the volume is extremely low at maximum, so you can only wwatch a film with headphones to get any decent sound volume. Can anyone help with these issues or is the laptop just not very good. Many thanks.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

My Yoga 3 pro (now out of warranty) worked just fine for 6 months without any issues and now all of a sudden it is started to freeze up. It freezes many times a day randomly. I have updated the BIOS I have verified all drives are up to date. I did a factory reset on the computer three times. I found the following errors under system logs "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local" I went through some KB articles and granted permission to those apps without any luck.  Since the laptop is out of warrnty what my options are. This is very annoying I was a big fan of Lenovo products but now it apperas i have to change my mind to go with a better hardware manufacturer. Is someone else facing same issues?

Hi there, A few weeks back I noticed that neither of my USB ports nor my SD card port were working on my laptop. Tried multiple USB sticks/SD cards and none work, so I know its an issue with the ports themselves. I have tried updating drivers and everything is up to date, and the system says they are working correctly. Ocassionally a message will pop up on screen saying "A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port", but I don't have anything in the ports. This makes me think this is potentially a HW issue, not a SW one, but before I make that call it would be great to get some advice as to what I can do! Thanks!

Hi,My keyboard has intermittently been having a huge delay in typing.  It makes whatever I type unreadable- I have to go back and insert all the missing letters.  This can take a long time.  All keys are affected and can be when using email, word documents or facebook.  I have tried checking for software updates as well as uninstalling the driver.  It works fine for a while and then becomes nearly unuseable again.  The onscreen keyboard works.  My extended warranty runs out it one month-should I just send it back for checking? Thanks

It may be missing keystrokes because something is hogging the cpu.  When the problem starts, start the task manager.
