EVERY GAME crashing, various crashes

Q: EVERY GAME crashing, various crashes

Hi

Recently all my games started crashing. World Of Warcraft gets a black screen as i log in.
Oblivion flickers between a black screen and the game itself
All my steam games gets either a error that says: Internal driver errorr in IDirect 3DDevice 9:: Present () or a error that says something with failed to lock vertex buffer.

Here's my DxDiag

Preferred Solution: EVERY GAME crashing, various crashes

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

first of all is this limited to this game alone?do other games run fine?check for any overheating signs, install the latest drivers for your video card and your mobo, direct x and any other update.see if you meet the minimum requirements for the game.(this was just the official response you would get from a techie..so bear with me)

if this is happening in this game only and not in any other and your pc isnt overheating and meeting the minimum requirements, then there is a good chance its an issue with your optical drive, try a combo drive if you've got any around.its an incompatibility issue with some of the games.good luck

I have an ongoing issue where I log onto the glyph launcher, log onto my server, play for a while, sometimes hours with no issue but then BOOM, the game just closes on me and I'm booted back to the launcher. I have to push the PLAY button again, log into the server again, but it seems once the game boots me out then the crashing becomes more frequent.

I at first reported it to Trion support (useless) all they do is copy and paste previous responses from previous games sometimes not even removing the other game titles from it, but all in all I have spent over a month with them and I have:

1. Expanded my paging file to initial size of 1X RAM size max size 2X RAM size (to handle the memory of the game)
2. Switched from DirectX11 down to DirectX9 and back again. (in game)
3. Lowered my FPS (frames per second) to 100 (in game)
4. Switched off Multithread rendering and VSync (in game)
5. They have also had me change the priority of the game archeage.exe to high to see if that helps and it doesn't
( I would start the launcher, log onto the game and the server, go into the character screen, then cntrl + alt + delete into task manager and right click the process and set the priority to high then go back into the game)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've been haveing some trouble with either game crashes or full bluescreen (error 101).
I WAS useing twin GeForce 9600GTs in SLI, I recently upgraded to a HD 7870.
The problem did not change, suggesting that video drivers are not the source... Although altering the drivers with the 9600GTs did seem to effect if the game crashed or full bluescreen crash.
So basicly, the PC works fine untill I play a game (high end and/or minecraft... simple games do not trigger it) at that point, you are on borrowed time. Around 15-120 min. into gameplay, either the game will crash (fatal error bug or no bug report) OR the PC will freeze briefly followed by a blue screen BCCode 101. (Windows 7 64)

I did a simple RAM check, but I did not leave it running for long. I have 3 sticks of 2GB in there, and haveing removed one at a time did not effect the problem. (IE: I took out each stick, leaveing 2 in for a quick and easy method to find a possable faulty RAM chip).

Thus far, it would seem that the CPU in at haveing timeing issues with a core.
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ 3.2 GHz

Could it be overheating? Everything seems to work fine untill I start a game, then it crashes out roughly 30 min into playing. I'm consitering removeing the heat sink, reapplying the thermal paste, and checking if that has any effect. This much I am qualified to do; but is there a way to monitor processor heat levels durring gameplay (I'm sure standard bios heat checks would not show problems). ... Read more

About 3-4 months ago, my uncle placed a GeForce 9500GT video card. It worked nice for games like Dekaron,Rappelz,Oblivion but just about a week ago it crashed on COD2. I thought it was normal but it happened on Left 4 dead too. I started to get worried and thought it was normal but then it kept on crashing on Portal(1st stage, at around 20-30 seconds on the timer) and almost any game i borrow from my friends. It crashed on Warcraft 3, Overlord, Drift City(only in Undercity Mission). Im kinda worried now maybe you guys can help me.

It crashes and sometimes the sound loops but sometimes it doesnt. Im not sure if it's only the monitor because some of my games cant be shut by using ALT F4 and i cant check if it shuts down well. When i unplug, plug and turn it on, there are no warnings or things that say it recovered from an error. It just starts normally. Some people say i have to upgrade my Video card driver but im worried because when i installed a driver on my Laptop , i couldnt turn it on. SO WHAT DO I DO?

I'll keep this short and sweet because I know how busy you guys are.
I built a gaming computer from scratch, there were a lot of problems even getting it working initially this time, as compared to the last one I built that I had zero problems with ever.
I am getting a lot of BSOD's, games freeze and crash, movies freeze and crash, and streaming does too. In addition, I am getting an error occasionally with the GPU that tells me it has timed out and reset the GPU. I used the windows recommended fix for this and set the response timeout time to 8 seconds, since I have done so I have only seen this problem once. I was wondering if I had too little power for my system, but I have seen threads with similar problems that have plenty of power. I followed the instructions to the best of my ability, and you should find all of the information you have asked for below. Please don't hesitate to ask for anything else you may need. I truly appreciate what you guys are doing here for so many people.

IMO, the suggested fixes for the TDR timeout of the video card only conceals the problem - it doesn't fix it.If the card is timing out, then fixing the cause of the timeout is preferable (IMO) to just lengthening the timeout. Unfortunately it appears that the system has pirated software. Please get a legitimate copy installed and we'll be glad to help. Here's suggestions on how to ensure that your version is legitimate:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuinePlease be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.As a courtesy, I will offer an analysis of your issues using the reports you provided.I will not answer any questions about the analysis until the system is made legitimate. If you do make it legitimate, please submit a new set of reports for us to check.Just FYI, sometimes the owner won't know about this.  So here's 2 scenarios that might ring a bell:- if they had a "friend" help with the computer - and the "friend" installed a pirated copy.- or they used a copy that they had from another OEM computer.  The OEM license is tied to the hardware that it came from - so you can't just use it on another system (that means that it's pirated). And here's the analysis... If any of you have a radeon card (might apply to nvidia cards too) and you have been experiencing random crashes to desktop / reboots / VPU Recover windows ...Go into you r bios and change the vid card core voltage to 1.7v, if 1.7 doesnt fucntion, use 1.8. That should fix 95% of all of you crashing problems.

I had tried everything to fix these crashes, formatting HD, reinstalling windows...I even bought a new power supply. None of it worked but since i switched to 1.7v I have had no problems in any games and no crashes at all. It was set to the default 1.64v unbeknownst to be.

Anyways if youve tried everything like me...give it a try I think that it will fix it.

A:A FIX for random game crashes and Vid Card crashes!

Ummmmmmmmm... I'm sceptical... I think voltages generally aren't meant to be messed with... if you do, just know that you may run the risk of frying your card...
...right??? not all cards run on the same voltage, and if it's supposed to run on something lower, it could get fried, right?? and then if it's supposed to run higher than that, MAYBE some bugs would get fixed, but wouldn't the card also run slower??

Which radeon card do you have anyway?

EDIT actually, it looks like the standard voltage for AGP cards is 1.5v... upping the voltage will (I believe) up performance a little, as well as heat generated. Too high a voltage, however, will result in BSODs and the like.

Hello, I made another forum here that was for games crashing. I was told to post my BSOD dump and system health report so here it is.

Bit of back story is that when I play any pc game they crash. Only the game crashes, no BSOD or anything, it will just freeze then say the game isn't working and I will have to close it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

In the last 4 days i have been experiencing crashes while playing MTW2 whilst on the battlemap.

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,
i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.
Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying
"MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.

Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says
this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly,
about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.
Other events.
Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded,
i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice.
Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.

A:Game crashing

Have you actually tried to reinstall the game?

(And for the sake of clarification, with MTW2 you refer to Medieval: Total War 2?)

And if your power cable blows up, that's pretty bad. No idea what could cause that, if it's just a cable without anything else. But your PSU, 520W, isn't too much.

Keep these things in mind;

PSU usually gives less power than in the description. And then, if it's old, your capacitors are getting worn out and your computer will get lot less power than it's supposed to.

However, if your computer wouldn't get enough power, it would crash completely and you'd get constantly overheating issues. But just in case, do you have anything to check your temperatures with?

I sort of have an idea why my games crash, but not entirely sure.

And when I say games crash, I mean EVERY game I've played on my new laptop has crashed at one point or another randomly.

Manufacturer: ASUS - A8JP Notebook
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz)
Memory: DDR2 200-Pin Notebook Memory (1 GB)
Hard Drive: 5400 RPM (120GB - 65 & 45 GB Partitions)
Video Card: ATi Mobility Radeon X1700 (256 MB)
Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated HD Audio
Operating System: Windows XP - Media Center Edition

Anyways, ATi decided to be retarded and release the X1700 Radeon, only to tell users that it is not developing any drivers or updates for it.

So, using the OEM driver from ASUS does not help and modded driver (while improving performance) still give me crashes.

Any ideas? Or is this problem way too broad as I fear it is.

I have run a Dxdiag and it indicates no problems.
Can anyone please help?

A:Game crashing !

this from activision

Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.
Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.
All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

Delete the options.cfg file from the directory where you installed the game.

The games that I have played recently that crash are Hitman 2 in particular, sometimes fm 08 and always warcraft 3.

Could you possibly post some more info on your system :

Which version of Win ? How much Ram ? What CPU ? What version of Direct X - you can check most of this if you :

Start > Run and type DXDIAG then look at the interface that appears.

Are you shutting down all non essential apps before starting these games as other things like Anti Virus progs will hog your resources. Especially as onboard graphics is using your system ram to function.

Its also worth considering that with such intense games you are likely to need a dedicated graphics card.

There is a reoccurring problem that I am having in my game; it crashes. However, it only does this when my Sim is riding a horse. I am not certain when this happened, nor do I know for a fact if it first occurred with the installation of the new patch. I am, however, almost certain that this is when the problem occurred.

The first time I noticed the problem was yesterday. I had finished making a very nice farm house and stall for my sim and her horse. My game had been running a bit slow, so I cleared out my Cache and ran the game. When my sim went for a ride on the horse, it ran extremely fast. The best way I can describe it is it ran as though it were in the fastest speed (speed 4), but the game was in normal speed. My sim then rode the horse to the racing stable to enter it into a race. When she tried to enter the horse into the race the game froze.

I had been playing the game for a couple of house, building the house and setting everything up, and I had not saved the game. When I restarted the game, I rebuilt the farm house and tried it again. The game continued to crash at the horse race in Appaloosa Plains. Today, after a good night's sleep, I decided not to build the house, but the just let the horse and rider run, and quite possibly enter into the race. This time I did not enter the horse into the race, but instead I had the horse to buck the rider. Just as the horse began to back up, the game froze. This must be note that each time the horse appeared to be run... Read more

Hi guys
I'm at my wits end.
I have these incidents where I'll be playing a game [namely City of Heroes ], and about half an hour into the game, my keyboard will decide that it won't let me move using the keys - neither will it allow me to use the Windows key to get out of the gaming window, which I normally have no problem with. When I do press the windows key, I can only see half of the taskbar, and the game is still visible. In-game animations are playing as normal, yet I can't select the CoH tab in the taskbar to return to the game.

I can, however, type as normal (on the first sign of this happening).

I end up having to switch it off from the mains!

It's been doing this for a while now, on and off - I'm worried I will damage the hard drive, or I've already damaged it.
I've attached a pic of the EventTracker log which shows "Printers" as the category - I must say though, a printer is not attached [which is even more weird]

Hi everyone. I have a problem concerning a BSOD when any game (or 3D application) starts up, where a few seconds after I start the game/application, windows shuts down and a BSOD displays, stating there is a

'page_fault_in_nonpaged_area'

which results in my computer being restarted after a count reaches 100 for deleting physical memory.

I have recently made some major upgrades, which is when the problem started. I installed a new mobo, video card (as old mobo had onboard video and no PCI-e slots), and a gig of RAM.
Since the problem I have bought a new PSU and another gig of RAM to replace the other stick I bought to check if it was faulty.

My Specs (since upgrade)
Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz
Windows XP Home SP2
Kingston DDR2 2GB 800Mhz
Asus EN8800GT
Gigabyte P31-DS3L
Antec NeoPower 550W PSU
Western Digital IDE 160GB 7200RPM HDD

Nothing is overclocked.
I didn't reformat after I installed all the new parts, rather removed all the old drivers beforehand and installed the new ones after.

What I've tried?
Ruled out PSU and RAM problems. Thats...about it

Another note:
Interestingly, games DO work (at least Steam ones) when I set them to launch windowed and at 800 x 600 resolution. Anything higher results in the aforementioned BSOD.

Next thing I'm considering is to reformat, it's been suggested by a few people but not by others...

When I first got the "Sims 3" game every time I tried to play it, it would crash. Later I learned that I didn't have enough RAM and that I needed to upgrade my graphics card. I took my computer to a shop and got another gigabyte of RAM and I bought a better graphics card. Then I went to "systemrequirementslab.com" and it says that I now meet and exceed all of the requirements for the game. But every time I play, the game closes about 5 minutes into gameplay. An error box would pop up saying that an error had occurred and that the game needed to close. I made sure that my drivers and my game was up to date. I tried lowering all of the game settings and putting the game in window mode, but it still crashed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game twice. I even turned off my Norton anit-virus program, because some people said that the program might cause conflict with the game, but that didn't work either.

Here are some of my computer specs:
- System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3)
- Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz
- CPU speed: 3.08GHz
- RAM: 1023.4 MB (around 2GB)
- Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series
- 98.3 GB of space left on my computer

If somebody can PLEASE help me, I would really appreciate it.

Your error code (109) could be caused by a driver or hardware. Please run these two tests.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

RELEVANCY SCORE 44.4

Okay, so I've googled this problem and have no idea what the problem is:

So my game (Guild Wars) constantly crashes to desktop now, and I haven't done anything to the software/hardware/anything whatsoever between the time it was working fine and from when it began crashing. Whenever I go off for the night and come on the next day it lets me play the game for an hour or two, then it crashes. Once it crashes and I try to open the game again it only lets me stay on for a few minutes at a time. I've rebooted in between crashes; it doesn't let me stay on for more than a few minutes after the first crash anyway. I go to sleep or give it hours of time and then I get an hour or so of gameplay again (everything starts all over). I've put a fan next to my graphics card in my open computer but it hasn't helped.
My card is an Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT and my computer has 1 GB of RAM.

If anyone can offer help here I would really appreciate it, thanks!

A:Game crashing to desktop...

It certainly sounds as if it's an overheating issue. It may be your CPU, RAM or hard disk drives as well as your graphics card. Check that all your cables are secure and plugged in tight. Also put and reset your RAM and PCI cards as well to be sure nothing has vibrated lose.

Now after my reinstallation EVERY game I play crashes a few minutes into gameplay. Also during regurlar PC use like Internet browsing my screen will freeze and then flash black when the picture returns everything works fine... except for games of course. Here are my specs:

Pentium 4 2.66GHz
512 MB of Corsair Ram
Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP1
Nvidia Geforce 4 128MB Video Card
Nvidia 71.89 Win2kxp video drivers
DirectX 9.0C

Now here is the LONG list of things I have already tried.
I reformatted my computer literally a couple of hours after the first reformatt.
I ran all of the DXDiag tests.
I wiped the video drivers and reinstalled using Driver Cleaner Pro.
I updated my sound card drivers
I disabled my on board sound
I ran SpeedFan to monitor my CPU temp it runs between 32-40 degrees C.

Hi

For last 5 days i'd say my CS:GO in steam library are not running as it was before.
My CS:GO crashes every most of the time i try to load a map ( offline ) but it does not happen all the time, i was playing no problem 3 hours ago, i try to run it again later, crashes no matter what map i choose. Tried running it 8 times, all times it crashed just before map loads in.

Things tried:

Verify Integrity Of Game Cache (3 files failed, were re-downloaded & still crashing)
Delete csgo.exe file and let steam re-download it (still crashing)
Uninstall csgo from steam library & completely delete folder of it. ( still crashing )

I run other games on steam no problem, but csgo does not want to cooperate with me.

What's going on?

Managed to run it after 9 attempts , minimized game to see what's the time. Went back to game and it crashed. So weird

A:laptop keeps crashing during a game

Don't play warcraft 3? lol just kidding

Sounds like it could b a dodgey grafix driver. Goto the manufacturer website and download the latest driver. Could also b a memory problem.

Goto c:\windows\minidumps, get the latest mini dump and post it here so i can analyse it.

When I am in game, it will randomly freeze, crash or BSOD. I have updated windows and my graphic card drivers to no avail. I was curious if you guys could look over the minidumps and my specs to see what is going on.

Recently my pc has started acting up, so i decided to wipe it clean.
After reinstalling Windows 7 pro 64, i updated all my drivers and reinstalled my games. However, after a minute or two in game, in either game, it will crash to my desktop. Niether program prompts a crash report. Both crash in identical ways. I use AVG Free, and Windows Firewall, i have added exceptions for both.

My graphics card is HD4770, and im running catalyst 11.2
The games im playing are not that intense, Rappelz a MMO and League of Legends an RTS.

I have made no changes to any of my hardware, and i have run several driver detection programs to ensure i didnt miss anything.

Win7 says i have DX11 installed, and my card only supports 10.1 (however, i was able to play like this before, so i assume its backwards compatable). What i have tryed, is to download directx from microsoft but only to get an error on install. "Check to make sure cryptographic services are running" and i did, and they are.

any ideas?

See if you can locate crash info -

1. WERCON -
START | type view | "View all Problem Reports" | 2x-click on line item for additional crash info

2. Reliability Monitor -
START | type perfmon /rel

3. Event Viewer -

hi, i hope someone can help, er.. my computer is crashing within roughly the first 10 mins of starting any game up, eg. sims, HL2, day of defeat, battle for middle earth, i have updated my radeon 9800 series with the latest driver and the problem is still happening, i have no clue where to start, my usual method of fixing something like this would be a format :giddy: but as my xp disc has gone walkabout i have to resort to fixing it the "proper way", i would be eternally grateful if anyone has a clue what my prob is and how i can fix it ~ caren

A:crashing when any game is played

You probably have a cheapo power supply(or just a low wattage model) that doesn't have as much power as your system will require. Check the brand, wattage, and amperages per rail(12v, 3.3v, 5v, etc), and post back if you can. The Psu(power supply unit) is in the top back corner of the case usually, so you'll have to open the case to look at it.

Edit: Welcome to Techspot BTW.

hi,
i have a game named TalonRO and it keeps crashing a few seconds after opened. used to work perfectly for months but now crashing with this massage and this crash log.

i contacted the games owners and they couldn't help i tried everything they suggested to solve this:

runned game's patches, checked my non unicode language to be set to english, checked my sound to be enabled to 2 speakers, installed additional visual C++ versions, turned off windows user accout control, chose run as administrator to open the game, redownloaded and reinstalled the game fully - none of this helped.

perhaps you can identify the problem through the crash log...

please help,
thanks

Ok i Have a new computer just built it myself

Mobo:Asus Crosshair
Process: 5600+ AMD
PS: 550W
Video: Asus 8800 GT
Mem: 2GB
Store: 400GB

I have underclocked, i have added more fans. So there is no overheating

I did run a program called Prime95 and it gave me this message

FATAL ERROR:Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware Failure Detected consult stress.txt file

Does anybody know what that means, and is there any other program i can use to find out what hardware is messed up. Thx

Generally speaking, something is out of whack between your memory and cpu settings.
