Yoga chromebook c630 microphone

Q: Yoga chromebook c630 microphone

A few months ago I started having problems with the microphone and video freezing. Two weeks ago the microphone died while trying to use it with zoom. doing further analysis the other day shows that it's not working with any product that uses it. It also doesn't work if I use a bluetooth device with a functioning microphone. Apparently this is a known issue according to other postings i've seen, but now my warranty is 5 days over it's expiration date. As recommended on the support site, I rebooted, reset to original settings, to no avail. Is there any workaround I can peform without having to pay an silly amount of money to get this fixed?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been looking at the Lenovo C630 13" laptop with the Snapdragon processor. Want to run Linux on it. But thats a different topic. The 8GB/256GB model seems the best deal, but I have NEVER seen in stock since I started tracking it almost a month ago. Is it typical of Lenovo to have a laptop model be continuously out of stock for an extended period of time, or does it indicate that Lenovo has discountinued the model or is working on a replacement? Since I've been studying this, there's only one configuration that is consistently available. The 8GB/128GB model is usually available on the website and is also available at most Best Buy locations. The 4GB/128GB is sometimes available on the website. But the 8GB/256GB has never appears available. Not sure why they bother to list it if its not available.

Which pen does the C630 WOS sold in the US at Best Buy support? I have a Lenovo Active Pen 2 that came with my Yoga 920 and it doesn't work. I also have a Thinkpad Active Pen that I use with my Yoga 720 15.6 and it also doesn't work. I paired the Active Pen 2 via Bluetooth, so I can launch the Windows Ink Workspace with the top button, but the screen itself does not register the pen.

do you have to use Sim card in Lenovo yoga c630 to use the device?

A:do you have to use Sim card in Lenovo yoga c630 to use the device?

No. You don't need to have a SIM card for the Lenovo Yoga c630 to be able to use it. The SIM card slot is used on the laptop if you want to have a cellular data connection to be able to access the internet if there isn't a Wi-Fi connection available. You will need to have a data plan on the SIM card that you are going to use. Cheers

Hi.

I don't have this machine, and I'm not sure if this machine is too new. It does not list driver on the support web site yet:

Check also "Lenovo Vantage" just in case there is any software update.

I also used to have this problems with a TP Yoga 14, but it was that it has a "rotatation lock" button on the side, but your does not seems to came with that button.

I'm not sure this issue will get to who it needs to, but I have found a couple of issues with the Yoga C630 WOS Firmware version 1.33. First is that it no longer boots off of USB keys that are larger than 32GB without a little... help...  If you put 2 USB keys that are larger than 32GB in (so 1 in each USB port), then the one on the left side (sim card, power led) will show up as "UEFI: USB Hard Drive", whereas the one on the right (headphone jack, power button) will show up as "UEFI: USB USB Hard Drive" and it will boot from the device in the left port.If only 1 USB key larger than 32GB is plugged in, it shows up as "UEFI: USB USB Hard Drive" and will not boot from it, even when selecting it with the boot prompt.  It simply boots into Windows.  Booting from a 128GB or even 256GB USB key was possible without the hoops of connecting multiple devices on the 1.23 firmware, so it would be nice if whatever change was made that makes this not work, could be reverted? The second (possible) issue is that virtualization support isn't turned on.  This is unfortunate as it means that WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux version2) is not supported on the Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS device, whereas the Samsung Galaxybook2 which has a firmware dated the same DOES have the support turned on, and WSL2 works on it.  It would be nice if the developers behind the firmware could enable the support.  I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, or how to get these... I had some strange battery behaviors with my YOGA C630 WOS. It feels more like a sotware/firmware issue, but I am not certain.  The basic premise is that the notebook stops charging at around 79-80%. If I monitor the charging current, it charges at about 10-15W in the beginning, then begins to slow down and gradually drops to 2-3W and then stops when reaching 79-80%. In essence it behaves as if the battery would be fully charged at that point, even though it is not.  I tried draining the battery and charging from empty, but it gives the same results.  Also, while plugged in at 80%, if I remove and reconnect the charger, sometimes it will charge for a little bit again, before stopping again. Rarely I have also seen it start charging for a brief period. So sometimes it went up to 86%.  I did get to fully charge it maybe once or twice.  Battery wear is currently reported at 5%, althoug it did change during the lifetime of the product. Actually it jumped around a lot in the beginning (6%-14%-8%-19%) before settling on 5%. Now it has been at 5%. (I started using the device in April, so it is not very old).  The battery lasts for a really long time, so this has rarely been a problem for me, but would still be nice to have a solution to it. It almost feels like as if it had a charge limit set, but there are no options or ways I know of where you can set a charge limit in a non-thinkpad Lenovo. Since there are no drivers to ... If neither the internal mic nor an external mic are working then you may have a corrupt OS or bad hardware. 1. Do an EC reset. That resets the controller that manages the peripherals, including audio. Did that fix it?2. Do a powerwash. Did that fix it?3. Do a system recovery. Did that fix it.

A photo colleague dumped his Chromebook on my lap (gratis) with some [email protected]#$ comments ... I will not comment as to why, and I thought this could replace my clunky W540 for pre made portfolio/slide or video presentations. OK, here is the deal.  The Cloud storage is nice, but I'm off on the road with no WiFi, at a client's house. Last time I tested the Chrome Cloud, the presentation 'stuttered' and the flow was disconcerting, and was a discredit to my abilities. I have mutliple prsentations, and 16gb is not enough, particularly when visiting distinct client with different or multiple  portfolio requirements. Is there any way to change the 16gb standard card to a 64gb (There are now 200gb micro SD cards!): Sandisk 200GB SD - The future. I hate to fiddle with the built in SD port, not counting the potential loss of these tiny cards.  I would like it to be an  internal or at least sealed and protected from accidental 'pop-outs'. As the eMMC is actually built on the SD card protocol, can I open and replace the meager 16gb with a more modern larger storage for of WiFi use. Any hack or hints before I pass this unit off, would be appreciated.  Incredible 'oyster' closure system.  Even the Chrome Pixel has a lid finger catch groove.

I do have and use the "SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive":  Did not try it in Chromebook yet, as the Google Store does not seem to have the Chrome extension.  It does play well on my Adroids (Cell and Tablet). Sandisk Wireless Media drive. That may be a way to go if I can get it to work as just a raw drive using some workaround software controls.  I guess another workaround and something else to carry & lose.

Hi all, I bought Yoga 11e Chromebook for a high schooler in my family, and she was happy with it. A couple of weeks ago, in her science class she couldn't access some web resources - I bet they written as "Windows or Mac only" web resources.   Now, I am thinking installing Windows on it, to make her school life easier - Because she is a student she can have a Windows license at no cost from government software centre for students.   The machine is still under warranty and I would like to know: 1. Will Lenove be helpful to provide me all the information?2. Can I do this without warranty void?3. Is it possible to install WIndows on Yoga 11e Chromebook?4. Where can I find the installation procedure?   Thanks!

A:Installing Windows on Yoga 11e Chromebook?

As long as you can enter development mode I beleive you can install Windows on it (assuming the hardware meets the requirements) http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-install-windows-8-on-your-google-chromebook-pixel.350111/ While it is for the pixel, the instructions seem to be universal for chromebooks.   I'm not sure about warranty voiding though.

ablackoka,

The symptoms seem to match .   The support tip you reference is being updated in the next 24-48 hours.
You might try this alternate / new solution....

SYMPTOM:

In ThinkPad 11e Chromebook and ThinkPad Yoga 11e Chromebook, the battery may experience poor longevity or not be able to power the system with the battery alone.

SOLUTION:

To update the battery firmware:

Logon to the Chromebook and update the Chromebook to the latest version of Chrome OS. (https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/177889?hl=en)
Press Ctrl-Alt-T to enter the crosh terminal page.
Plug in the A/C power adapter and keep it plugged while performing the following step.
In the crosh terminal page, type battery_firmware update and press Enter to update the firmware.  It may take up to 10 minutes.  Do not remove A/C power until the update has completed.

I recently got the 4k version of the yoga chromebook: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-c-series/Yoga-Chromebook/p/88YGCC61096 Part number: 81JX0008UX I've noticed that occasionaly with this laptop my pointer will lag insanely and not respond to small inputs for multiple minutes at a time.  At the time it occurs there isn't high CPU load or memory load. It occurs with the touchpad and the mousepad. It occurs when I do and do not have any peripherals attached. Closing the lid, letting the laptop sleep, then waking it back up has helped once so far. I usually just hard reboot as a workaround. I've seen review articles mention freezing as well, which were chalked up to running linux apps, which I did not run when this started, but are running now: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/02/22/lenovo-yoga-chromebook-c630-4k-review/ I'm running Version 73.0.3683.88 (Official Build) (64-bit), and this has occurred across multiple verison of Chrome OS. It first occured the first time I started using the laptop and signed into my account. I restored from a USB flash drive which appeared to resolve the issues for multiple days whereupon it started happening again. Has anyone else seen this? What's the support option here since I've already wiped the chromebook? Must it be a hardware problem?

Last week, I purchased a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Yoga Chromebook.  When I received it, it was sealed in the original packaging with a sticker indicating that it had been refurbished at a Lenovo facility.  When I turned it on, I got stuck at the Enterprise Enrollment screen.  It seems that it was registered to the domain of the original owner and would not let anyone login without credentials for that domain.  The trackpad was also non-responsive, but I figured once I logged in, I could toggle the trackpad settings and get it working. There was a link to contact Google for help with this, so I followed those instructions.  Google said that they could not help me, and that I'd need to contact the original owner to have them de-register the device.  Since I had no connection to the original owner, I contacted the seller who apologized and told me that, since the device had a full warranty, Lenovo should be able to fix the issue. So, I contacted Lenovo for help on Sunday.  The Tech Support Agent that I spoke to first tried to tell me to return the device and get something that ran Windows since Chrome OS and Android are inferior(!).  Anyway, once I assured him that I did indeed want a Chromebook and knew all about Chrome OS, he told me that I could send it in for repair, and that all they'd need to do was wipe the system and re-install the OS with a consumer image instead of the enterprise image that was on the m... Earlier today, I had shut the lid on my Chromebook (putting it into standby mode) and had put it away. At this point it had full power. About half an hour later, I had opened it up again, but it had shut off, and I coudn't get it to turn on again until I plugged it in to auxilary power. When it revived, it still had full battery, but had forgotten the details of the network until I had signed in. This is similar to another issue, wherein the system will occasionally stop opening and running user-installed applications and block any access to local storage (such as viewing and downloading files), citing lack of permission (which does not apply otherwise), until restarting and logging in again. My device is fully up-to-date on the stable update stream. Why am I having these issues? Are there any ways to fix this permanently (aside from purchasing a different device)?

I would like to plug a microphone in to the Yoga 730-165 (it was one of the main reasons I purchased this laptop) and it does not appear to be possible.  When I plug a device directly into the single 1/8" port, it does nothing.  I can only plug in headphones.  So, I purchased a splitter because I saw some conversations online (with other lenovo laptops)which suggested this may work, but when I plug an extenral microphone into the splitter, this does not seem to work either.  When I look into "recording" devices, I only see "Microphone Array" which seems to be the internal mic and "stereo mix".  Is there a driver I need? Or something else I should be doing?  Or is it just not possible to use an external microphone?

Hey all, I've been trying to use cortana for some time now and the voice recognition never works. I go to "Cortana and Search Settings",  and it shows the voice recognition as being on. Then I click on "Microphone: Make Sure Cortana can hear me" and I'm taken to a troubleshooting page that says "Set up your microphone." When I click that, it takes me to a screen that asks me to read a phrase, but it never registers my voice. The green bar moves slightly sometimes but always still in the red area and it doesn't even move when I screem. I am not on mute or anything. Then an error message comes up telling me it can't hear me. However, when I click on the speaker button and go to "Recording Devices" the microphone comes up under sound and has a small voice recognition bar that goes up when I talk and seems to be fine. So the microphone seems to be working fine there, but just won't recognize my voice when I try to set up Cortana. Any ideas?

I have been unable to use the onboard microphone in my laptop. I don't know exactly when this started, but there are other weird issues that are accompanying it. First, when I use F4 to try to toggle the mute, it always shows that it is muted on screen, instead of toggling the microphone from mute to unmuted and back, like the camera toggle, or touchpad input toggle keys do. Also, when I plugged a small microphone into the audio jack, it created a pop-up to ask if it was headphones or speakers with no other option. So for now, plugging in a microphone also doesn't work. I have uploaded/ reset some drivers and it keeps telling me I have the best driver available, so what gives?
