Preferred Solution: New Power adapter for M900 called TRIM question, and M900 memory part numbers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The description for the M900 SFF on the web site talks about a dust filter. I really liked the idea and when my machine arrived I went to show my wife that feature. There was no dust filter! - support said they didn't know anything about a filter but if I could supply the part number they would send me one. Is the web page description wrong? Or does anyone know how to get the dust filter?

Hi All, I would like to upgrade the m900 with a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD. Given that this drive is quite fast and given that my model only seems to have PCIe 2.0, I think that I should not connect the drive to the small and slower PCIe x1 slot. For this reason, I am looking for a PCIe to m.2 adapter that fits into the larger x16 or x4 slot however I am having a hard time finding one that you can buy here in Germany. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

I'm looking to confirm that JF806 and JF807 will work in a T7400 tower and hopefully looking for the part numbers for the power cables to the riser cards. I have a graveyard of older P690's and T7400's and I'm trying to see what works and what needs recycling. I forget if these memory risers (JF806 & JF807) are for the P690 or the T7400. I've searched eBay and Googled a bit and have found nothing.
I have found someone in the UK who appears to make the proper cables but that makes me nervous. I'd much rather buy the correct Dell part.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am debating about buying a M900 thinkcentre. I was hoping to eventually be able to put in a GTX 1080 and upgrading to 64GB of ram. Does anyone know if there would be a compatibility issues between the hardware? I've looked around and I have found that people have been able to put a 1060 in but haven't read one about a 1080. Also, I realize that I would have to upgrade the PSU as well. If the M900 wouldn't work, I am open to other potential desktop suggestions as well. Thanks, for the help!

I hope someone here would helped me out in my problem. I bought my Toshiba Portege M900 last 2010. I would always plugin the charger to my laptop when I am at work.

There this one time that when I turned on my laptop, the battery was about to be empty like 7% remaining. I took my charger and plugged it in. After 5 seconds, it turned off without any warning or so.

I checked the lights in the laptop, the "charging light" is not ON despite that the charger was plugged in the socket. I tried to use the charger to my other Toshiba Sattelite Laptop and it worked.

I tried to remove the battery of the Toshiba Portege M900 Laptop from its place and plugged again the charger but still it did not turned ON.

So I took my Toshiba Portege M900 to the nearest service center. But surprisingly when I got there and related the problem to the technician, the laptop turned on after it was plugged. The technician said, he couldn't see any problems because the laptop was charging and it turned on right.

But when I took it home, whenever I remove the charger from the socket of the laptop, it would turn off immediately without any warning eventhough that battery is 100% charged.

And there were times, even if I remove the battery from the laptop but still plug the charger in.. the laptop will still NOT TURN ON.

I tried to check the Toshiba PC Health Monitor, but it would said that the battery is working good. What do you think seems to be the problem? Is it the bat... Read more

A:Portege M900: Power Problems Battery and Charging

> Is it the battery, or the power jack, or the motherboard or the charger

I don?t think its battery issue.
Why? Because the notebook does not power up even if the battery is removed but connected to AC adaptor.

_Power jack?_
Maybe. It could be possible that power jack or connection between the power jack and the motherboard isn?t ok.

_Motherboard?_
It could be an problem with power supply electronic which is part of the motherboard but once again; this is just an idea?

_Charger /AC adaptor?_
Hmm? you said that the AC adaptor has been tested with another notebook and it worked. So possibly it?s not AC adaptor issue.
But are you sure that the other notebook did not run at battery power?
Has the AC adaptor been tested properly? This is an open question.

Another idea:
What BIOS version do you have installed on M900?
Found an BIOS update for the Protege M900
+BIOS version 2.40 upgrade for Portege M900 and Satellite Pro U500( For PSU56*, PSU5C*, PSU5J*, PSU5Q*, PSU86*, PSU8G* and PSU53* ONLY)+
http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/support/drivers/details/30516

There you can find an detail about fixed issue:
+System may not power on without using AC Adapter after the battery has been detached and reattach again. This has been fixed.+

Please check if your Portege M900 is one of the mentioned models and check if an BIOS update is available for your unit.

Hi this is my first question here.
I just bought a M900 SFF (i7-6700) which has a 210W PSU. I want to get a MSI 750ti low profile GPU but worried about the lack of power so Im considering upgrading the original PSU.
However, the motherboard has a Lenovo style 10-pin ATX and another 4-pin. So far I couldn't find any PSU that matches the motherboard. I would really appreciate some help!

Mod:  edited Subject line to add other system types that can use the same power supply and graphics cards

Also, I tried using the 750ti LP with the current 210W PSU. It worked fine with Would of Warcraft, but I havn't try other programs that might have higher power demand. Do you think I should keep looking for a PSU upgrade plan or is it actually just fine with the 210W? I used a PSU calculator and for my current system (with 750ti) it gave a 205W estimation, which is just under 210W.

I've read many similar posts here on this problem, but found no clear solution. I bought this partly for the advertised 'potential for upgrade', which now seems to me a lie because I can't even upgrade a PSU???

SO yesterday I discussed the Graphics Card issue with the M900, PSU replacement with a 400W PSU was also discussed.Today I am going to ask for your expertese on the RAM issue. The M900 came with 8GB RAMIt is 8GB PC4 2133P, So I went to best buy got 3 more sticks of 8GB PC4 2133P RAM and plugged them in...The PC would not boot, It started giving 2 loud and 1 less loud beeps.. almost sounded like I had put the PC on Life support... LOL... So I took out the 4 RAM chips and tried with each Chip, 2nd Slot for 2 Module, the PC would not boot up until I had the RAM that came with the PC in the slot. So I started checking it out...This is what I found...It will only take the 1Rx8 kind of Memory Chip.So The ONLY RAM this machine will ever take is the one that is manufactured/installed by Lenovo, any after market memory will not work unless specifically specified by the manufacturer for the Lenove model..... FML... Out of 1000's of kinds of RAM, this machine will only take 1 kind... and guess what, that 1 kind is NOT cheap... 8 GB runs for something like $115....So if my findings are wrong on all of this and you have been able to upgrade your RAM on the M900 Tower with anything other than 4/8GB-1Rx8-PC4-2133P-UA1-10, please let me know how and what did you do?

Could someone tell me some compatible part numbers for a power supply for an Optiplex 3010?
We have the desktop model. We have about 30 of these, They did work well for 4 years, now we've had 5 power supplies go out.

I am having the same issue as this fella but my NIC Advanced settings do not have the option for "PME Enable".  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/WOL-for-M93z/m-p/1361347#M10687 I am unable to WOL any of my M900 desktops (over 200) and the BIOS is configured properly and the firewall settings allow the appropriate port. I do not encounter any issues with my Thinkpad t460s laptops which has the same Win10 image as my M900 the only difference is hardware and drivers.  Weird part is if I hard power off my desktop while before reaching Windows I can then use WOL to wake up the desktop. I am assuming its just an option within the driver but I am falling short of answers. Anyone know the fix for this?

The problem was a new  M900 SFF Desktop that appeared to be Dead On Arrival, as it produced no image after plugging a monitor into the VGA port. The cause was a  M900 500Gb i7  that arrived with a Nvidia  graphics card with no VGA socket, though there was the usual VGA port on the mother board. The easiest solution was to buy a Startech DisplayPort/VGA Active adapter (there are others)  and plug that into the Nvidia card so as to bring the VGA screen to life. There is also a Lenovo cable 57Y4393, perhaps that should be offered as an option on purchase of the M900.This solution worked with a Belkin KVM switch, after briefly connecting the Nvidia card directly to the VGA monitor to pick up the settings.A more expensive solution was to buy a monitor with a display port socket and cable, though that wouldn't  work with a Belkin  KVM Switch. One could also switch the settings in the BIOS to activate the VGA port on the motherboard, but that would require a DisplayPort monitor at the start .I hasten to add these solutions have already been referred to in this forum, and by Lenovo support,  for which many thanks;  I hope this different indexing helps others who see this as a DOA problem or are struggling with a KVM.

A:About 512Gb ssd for M900

Surely not SLC.

Per system service parts document you can get:

- Samsung (PM871) is TLC
- SanDisk i suppose MLC
- LiteOn i suppose MLC

Majority of systems that we get from Lenovo is with Samsung PM871.

Or you can use partslookup. Best is to have serial number. Also possible to have product number, but then not 100% reliable regarding SSD P/N (as substitutes may be used).

Is this for an external power supply and if so where do I get one? Is it just a question of finding a adapter for a molex?

What do I ask for? Can you supply me with a link?

Please advise me.

Is it phisically impossible to install an M.2 SATA 2280 drive in this model as stated in the hardware manual,  or is it me?There are connectors at the bottom of the motherboard blocking the way for installation. Can anyone confirm this, please? Thank you. PS - I'm not interested in adding a riser card/adapter, I would just like to make use of the built-in M.2 SATA slot.

Hello, after installing Windows 10 and all drivers from Lenovo I have a annoying problem. Regardless of the speakers being disabled or not I have a funny squeaking sound comming out of the speakers when I scroll down a page in any software e.g. Firefox, MS Word  etc. With some programms I have this squeaky sound even if only some graphics is movong on the screen. In the meantime I have tryed to update the audio driver, but there is nothing newer available then the one dated August 18, 2015.Does somebody else have this problem or is there a solution to it. It is really nerve killing. Thnaks for your help.

I would download fresh copies of the audio and video drivers from the Lenovo support page, uninstall and delete (the possibly corrupt) drivers for both using the Control Panel/Device Manager page. Reboot, and install the new copies.

I am getting somewhat confused (sometimes it doesn't take much) Ok 1st:  From Lenovo's website Memory:TINY FORM FACTOR WITHOUT SACRIFICING PERFORMANCEThe ThinkCentre M900 Tiny is everything that you need in a compact size: durable, manageable, expandable, flexible ? do-able. Tiny form factor with the latest in Intel® Core? processors and up to 16 GB of memory with two drive bays offer the performance and expandability you need. Here it seems to indicate 16gb of memory which seems to be what is offered under customize However here: Tiny but Flexible The ThinkCentre M900 Tiny fits just about anywhere, but is still flexible, offering one 2.5? bay or one M.2 slot for your choice of storage, and up to 16 GB of memory with expansion slots for up to 32 GB. The latest It seems to be indicating 32 gb of memory does this mean Lenovo only offers up to 16 gb but you can put in 32 if you want to toss the supplied chips, It wouldn't be to bad if they offered the 16gb as 1 chip with the other one free but it seems the only option is 2x8, this seems kind of wasteful if you think at some time in the future you may want to upgrade to 32 GB Is it possible to special order with 1 16gb chip and 1 open socket? 2nd: Drive bays The 1st clip from the website above says 2 drive bays The 2nd clip says 1 bay either a HD or SSD but not both Which is it ? From a youtube video of someone taking one apart it didn't really look like... When I bought this M900 from Amazon, I did so because it says that it's got a wireless network connection (Bluetooth?). When I look at the "Network" options in the Settings menu, it doesn't show anything related to 'wireless', only ethernet, and tells me I need to plug in an ethernet cable. After researching a bit, what I've learned is that different versions of this model have various different networking setups. How can I tell EXACTLY which version I've got? I'm looking for an "About" section where it might tell me, but can't seem to find a precise model/ version number. This is getting maddening now. I just want to use my brand new computer. Please help! Thanks in advance.

All our M900 fail to boot (tested on 10 machines) on the 1st attempt with the Message "module is not accessible". This is related to the TPM module which is used by BitLocker. (works fine on 2nd boot) BIOS FWKT53A installed.

So another thing just started happening in the last couple of days. The NIC starts flapping. It connects, disconnects, pretty random. I have tried to install the Drivers from Lenovo, but it says the drivers did not install as the drivers present are newer.... How?I have tried ping tests, it keeps pinging the Gateway... no dropped packets, but it stopps pinging yahoo and google... and then it will start again by itself. I have another system (SelfBuilt) right next to this one connected to the same switch, and it keeps on pinging both the gateway and yahoo without dropping any packets....Any Idea's anyone?
