BSOD Windows 7 update mp3 player driver conflict, graphics driver

Q: BSOD Windows 7 update mp3 player driver conflict, graphics driver

Hi, and thanks in advance...

Much of this is a repeat to other threads, until the graphic driver problem at the end...

(I also have an Ubuntu partition.)

I'd left my mp3 player plugged in overnight + an Asus Xonar DAC in a usb hub, when Windows wanted to do an update and conflict over drivers ensued. Strange, because I've selected for notification before updating. Also, have not been successful installing any new updates since the end of May. Was seemingly a common problem, I checked into it, too busy/lazy to pursue and succeed. This part is confusing...?

Woke up to blasting fans and unplugged everything peripheral. First, tried setting back to restore points prior to that night - twice. Could restart in Safe Mode and with networking. Then, could restart normally - but, shutdowns after 20 minutes or so.

Got crash logs, saw driver conflicts (not found) - saved.

Came here, read threads, did restart at Last Known Good Configuration. Restart - Nvidia Geforce driver not found. Went to Asus site, downloaded and installed driver (not lastest version, but last approved version and not much later than one that was installed).

It then went into a system cycled start/restart/etc. attempting to find driver, fix itself - forced to do shutdown to stop it.

Restarted this morning in Safe Mode, followed your instructions for posting. It's been running in safe mode for about 20 minutes now.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello welcome to SF .

Critical files are missing please run the SFDT again and let it run it's course.
Most dumps are corrupted, but the one that did survive shows
an extremely old graphics driver.

I need advice to repair conflict with Windows 7 update which causes my HP notebook to not recognize scanner function of my HP printer. It says WAI driver missing, but I never deleted any drivers. I no longer have disk with drivers. I have repaired this before with doing a system restore to before update, but is extreme solution to have to keep repeting and causes other problems. Can you offer help/advice?

Hey all. After I installed Windows Update KB938371 and restarted, my mouse ceased functioning. I have a generic Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. The keyboard continued to work just fine, but not the mouse. Vista recognizes the mouse as a "HID-compliant mouse". My guess is that something happens to the drivers after the update. When I check the mouse properties after the update has been installed, it lists NO information about it or the drivers. I used system restore to bring the computer back to the point before I installed the update, and the mouse is working again. Here is the update that is causing the problem:Update for Windows Vista (KB938371)Download size: 4.9 MBYou may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.Update type: ImportantInstall this update to enable future updates to install successfully on all editions of Windows Vista. Recently I've been using Intel Driver update utility to keep my drivers in check with what's up to date, but for a while now I've noticed I can't get this spicific one.  It's been bugging me for a while and I'd like to get it updated so this notification will go away.  Where might I go about getting said driver?  I've already looked in the drivers area of the XC603G on the main site.  You're my last hope, Fourms.

To install Intel generci VGA drivers, you need to uninstall first the Acer/Intel drivers or you will be not able to do it.but...if you are under windows 10, keep in mind that it will try to re-install the Acer/Intel drivers over the generic drivers.

Well, first of all I am a total computer neophyte so any advice needs to be really simple. I use my laptop for my Internet research, translating 18th and 19th century documents, word processing and GTA IV

I never had an issue with graphics or game play until a period of BSOD/Black screen failures led me to have it wiped and a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64x. I am beginning to think that none of that was necessary and instead I was having issues with NVIDIA driver updates.

At present my graphics card is not recognized. Under device manager it states "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" rather than the GeForce 9800M GT.

Going to NVIDIA's website and installing the latest driver for my graphics card causes a flash of BSOD then blackscreen then start-up repair then system restore.

Please help and apologies in advance for my ignorance.

After many many hours of searching forums for solutions I have been unable to find a solution to my problem - so I decided to open a topic of my own and hope someone can help me with my problem specifically.

My problem is similar to this topic, although the solutions posted there aren't working for me. In short: I have been experiencing random but frequent BSODs (16 and counting) with the message 'driver power state overload' being displayed.

In my quest for a solution I wanted to upgrade my drivers, when I noticed my Nvidia Geforce 650M graphics card seems to have disappeared. When I try to install the latest driver from Nvidia's website I get the error 'graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware'. Attempting to open the Nvidia control panel gives me the message 'An Nvidia graphics card was not detected on your system' and I cannot find the card listed in the device manager (only the intel HD graphics family is listed under display adapters)... To be clear: I'm quite sure my laptop SHOULD have this card, it's just not detecting it for some reason.

Since the symptoms of my problem are exactly the same as described in the topic linked above, I have tried to follow the solution described by Arc. Installed Driver Fusion, started in in safe mode and tried to delete Nvidia drivers - but nothing seemed to be listed here. I still clicked delete but not sure if this actually did something or not.

Hello Zephos.

As per the supplied data, this is the specification of your graphics.

Name Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_21031043&REV_09\3&11583659&2&10
Adapter Type Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, Intel Corporation compatible
Adapter Description Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Adapter RAM (2.080.374.784) bytes
Installed Drivers igdumd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igdumd32,igd10umd32,igd10umd32
Driver Version
So, it says it is not nVidia. But as you are saying that it was Nvidia Geforce 650M, and it disappeared, the best option is to contract the vendor. I wish you are within warranty?

Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?
As this is the first time when Windows updated the driver is this how the Intel HD Graphics drivers are to be kept up-to-date via Windows Update?

A:Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

A:Whole windows freezes after graphics driver update! :(

When a driver fails in the way you describe and Win7 becomes unbootable, the best approach is to boot into System Recovery Options to run System Restore to before the driver was updated. Then take note of the driver so you don't install it again unless you want to test it.

Was this driver provided by Windows Updates? If not check now if there are drivers which Win7 prefers that are delivered via Important and Optional Windows Updates when you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

In fact I'd look over the steps given in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which compile the tools and methods which assure you'll get and keep a perfect install. These are the same for retail.

I would try all possible drivers for Win7 for your Display adapter from your PC maker, device maker, Windows Updates, etc. These remain cued in Device Manager>Display>Driver tab>Update Driver>Browse>Let me choose. There is also a Roll Back Driver button to use, or System Restore if it won't boot as noted.

You have a good command of your PC so here are other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to work through.

If you'll post back results as you go we will work with you to help resolve this fully.

Please fill out your system specs in the bottom left corner of your post.

I hope you can help me fix my dad's computer!! This site has helped me fix my laptop. I really appreciate you guys!!

On my dad's computer : I tried to update BIOS graphics driver per instructions for new larger monitor (which has not even been hooked up yet).

I went to the Dell website and entered the service code HPLW3G1 to find the graphics driver to update. I recall nvidia but now looking at the list that they have on that website, I am not sure what I downloaded. I saved it to desktop and then clicked to install it. I then got a small popup that said I must close all other applications. When I clicked ok on that little window - (so I could close the other applications that were open), it started installing anyway! I exited the install window (wrong thing to do? It said do not turn off power in red letters), closed applications. Then I restarted, because it didn't want to open google chrome.
NOW when I turn it on, the blue light on the on button lights up, sounds like the fan is running, but the monitor does not even respond, it goes into powersave mode. I tried another monitor, no change. The computer won't turn off, unless I hold the off button down for awhile. The wierd thing is that when the computer is unplugged, it comes back on when plugged in again. But there is never any flashing lights below the on button that indicates that the hard drive is working. I think this may be bad? I tried hitting F8 after turning it on, and nothing happens. Good Evening,
I have spent 12 hours trying to fix this problem.  I am working on my sister's machine and really would like to get this running without formatting the hard drive.
Here is what happened.
Yesterday my sister asked me to remove some malware from her machine.  I used malwarebytes to remove a browser object helper spam.  The machine restarted and booted into windows perfectly.  At the same time I decided to update some of her software and drivers that were years out of date.  I installed the newest AMD Catalyst Driver 14.2 beta.  I did not uninstall the previous version (out of share laziness) and now the computer will not enter windows.
It will hang on the Starting Windows (Black screen).  It will not enter safe mode (freezes after loading atipcie.sys).
I have tried using a windows installation disc to repair windows.  It does not work.  It states it cannot fix the problem.  In the error box it shows bad driver.
I have tried sfc /scannow and it states no problems.
I have tried chkdsk /r and it finds no problems.
Where do I go from here?  I really do not want to have to start again and reinstall all her programs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
PS.  I can add her drive to my PC to get at the files if necessary.

I am receiving random BSODs with the subject line description.  My first stop was to the HP Support site to possibly update any drivers (like bios??).  I found many driver updates available, including 2 for the bios.  I really have no clue as to which driver updates to install, even after reading the details.  I looked for where it says recommended or required or something but didn't see it.  I then installed the HP Support Solutions and did a scan to determine what drivers it thought I needed and it came up with none.  Now I'm real confused.  Does that mean all the driver updates on the HP site are just optional?  Can someone provide a good site link to read about how to determine which drivers are needed?  Thank you for your help!

Dear Lenovo, My sister has a Lenovo G710 laptop, which has intel HD Graphics 4600, but Lenovo did not updated it's driver for a long time. The G710 is based on i3 CPU, so it is still not so bad, but some 3D programs produce errors/glitches, probably because of the old graphics driver.Lenovo updated the driver for other laptops which use the same 4600 graphics (for E450 for example), but I can not install that driver.Intel has an updated driver for 4600 graphics too, but I can not install it either. Can I ask for an updated graphics driver for G710, or could someone offer me a solution?

I am not sure if this is where it belongs, or if it is a Graphics Card issue. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely, causing me to do a hard shut down. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hello bpatter mate first up don't worry about EUFI that board is - if I amnot terribly wrong a legacy BIOS if you open it up you should see a screen asin my pic. Let us know which type it is please.

The other thing we would like to know is why are you trying to get Intelgraphics driver/s you should only have to use the driver for the GPU http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82758/en-us the onboard stuff should and again unless Iam terribly wrong cut out auto when you plug in a card

The main thing here is to get SP1 installed ASAP

I've had my laptop for less than 2 months, but recently I got stuck in an auto-repair loop (possibly a virus), so I took my laptop to my university's tech center. Once there they wiped my laptop clean and installed a fresh install of Windows 10. A couple of my drivers got deleted like my mouse and wifi drivers, but they re-installed them there as well. Everything was fine just a little slow, I re-installed all my apps/games back. I never really checked for Windows 10 updates until a couple days ago because I randomly got this error when trying to play my games. It would say something like this: "ERROR: your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F)". I have a GTX 1050 ti, so I was really confused. I looked up how to fix it on other forums and even Reddit. Apparently, this happens when your laptop tries using the GPU built into the motherboard instead of the actual graphics card. Many suggested uninstalling the current GPU drivers and re-installing them. So that's exactly what I tried, but now whenever I try to express install the newest driver on Geforce Experience; it says "The Standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using...(website)". The website it gives is not even available, so I look up and manually try to download/install the driver myself, but it gives me the same message it did on Geforce Experience. I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

First off, here is my hardware info:Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
Original OS was XP SP3

OS installed in August of 2009

The BSOD issue is a very recent thing on a months-old install of Windows 7. The single meaningful change I can think of has to do with some updates I performed the day before the first BSOD.

Those updates were:

Intel - Network - Intel(R) 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2032276)
Definition Update for Microsoft Office 2010 suites (KB982726), 32-Bit Edition
Dell Inc. - Bus Controllers and Ports, Display, Storage - Dell 2408WFP(Digital)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - July 2010 (KB890830)
Update for Outlook Social Connector (KB983403), 32-Bit Edition

One thing to note is that for a half-second directly before the BSOD, the video output on both monitors becomes quite scrambled and the most recent crash I think occurred as my computer was shifting into the screensaver. I don't remember what I was doing when the first BSOD happened, but during most of the subsequent ones I was using Adobe Photoshop,... Read more

Hello all,
Computer info-
ASUS EEE PC N450 Intel GMA 3150
1 Gb original Ram
Win 7 Starter OEM
One yr old, not physical damage

What happens-
When attempting to update, BSOD on restart, update fails, goes into startup repair loop
What works-
Boot to safe mode, uninstall Intel GMA 3150 driver (the latest from ASUS)
Restart, continue installing updates in Standard VGA mode, updates complete successfully

Once you reinstall the Vid driver- no problem UNTIL more Windows Updates- then same failure.

One more thing, Windows Update has a Win included update for this driver- has the same ill effect.

I am installing so many updates because wrestled with this problem for some time, until a full reformat was done, to no avail.

So what do I do, stick with 800 x 600 resoultion, or turn off Windows updates?!!!

A:Windows update + Video Driver= BSOD

I just successfully installed more updates that failed simply by turning the resolution to 800 x 600, without uninstalling the driver.

What is it about 1024 x 600 that causes a problem?

Hi All

Hoping someone here can help me, I installed the latest drivers for my AMD Radeon HD 7840D yesterday and I've had nothing but trouble since with BSOD.

The errors themselves seem to be random, even just idle it can crash but it seems to be mostly happening when I browse the internet using both Chrome and Firefox; that said Firefox does seem to be the most stable and less prone to BSOD and Firefox itself just crashing.

This has happened before when I installed the updates but I was able to roll back then, this time I went to roll back and it wasn't able to complete the process.

I've tried installing the original drivers I got on the CD but for some reason it just reinstalls the newest ones and doesn't solve anything - I even disconnected from the internet in the hope to stop some kind of background update but I think they must be in the cache somehow :/

I've attached my analysis zip in the hope that someone can identify and suggest a fix for the problem.

I consider myself an intermediate computer user but I can't stop this and it's driving me insane so I'm handing myself over to the experts!

Thanks in advance for any help that can be given!

I bought an alienware laptop 4 months, about 2k I thought was well spent. The amount of problems is insane. The first month the camera stopped working. The second month the drivers are having issues that I cant seem to fix for the life of me. 3rd month I update to windows 8.1 and avast no longer works properly... But thats only part of the issue. It's a gaming laptop and I can no longer play games without recieving the same BSOD which ironically is yellow with a sad face. "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal". I can't play most of my games, like warframe or saints row without it crashing in the first 2 minutes of gameplay.
At the same time... I cant connect any type of smart device to my laptop. Zune... Iphone... External Hard Drive. It disconnects an reconnects about every 2 seconds.
ive included a speccy if that will help. Any help I can get to fixing these problems would be greatly appreciated.

to the forum mate.
Please follow the below steps.
Upload the actual crash dump files.
You will find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. To copy the dumps, disable "User Account Control" first. Otherwise you may receive a permission error. After disabling UAC, copy and zip most recent three or more dumps to a single file. Either attach the zip with next reply using "More reply options --> Attach files" or use a free file hosting site.
For example -> http://www.mediafire.com/
Publish a snapshot of your system using Speccy.
"Speccy" is a free tool which can list the hardware specs, temperature status, installed Windows updates, HDD SMART info etc of your system. Please read the below tutorial to know how to use "Speccy" to collect system info.
Don't paste the output displayed by "Speccy" here. Instead paste the web link it displays.

My PC runs into random BSOD at different points, it is not consistant so tracking the issue down is not that simple.

I suspected a bad Hard drive and has since upgraded to a SSD but had the same problem after re-installing windows 7 on the new HD, so it probably was not the issue.

I suspect issues with my Audio card as sometimes the BSOD errors list sys files related to audio. I have installed the latest drivers from the ASUS website but the problem remains.

I have updated windows, updated video card drivers and all drivers really, have ran Kaspersky and avast antivirus progarms and got clear results but the BSOD remain.

I have now ran out of options and hope some gurus in this forum can share some ideas.

Best Regards!

So there is no feasible driver update to that device.

You either contract ASUS, explain the situation to them and ask for appropriate drivers, or remove the card and see if the situation is stable there or not.

A:Windows *still* crashing (driver conflict)

The Elder Geek
an explanation of what Stop 0x0000001E means.

Stop 0x0000001E or KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - The Stop 0x1E message indicates that the Windows XP Professional kernel detected an illegal or unknown processor instruction. The problems that cause Stop 0x1E messages share similarities with those that generate Stop 0xA errors in that they can be due to invalid memory and access violations. This default Windows XP Professional error handler typically intercepts these problems if error-handling routines are not present in the code itself.

I would suggest that you try two things
1. sfc /scannow

explanation can be found here

2. a repair upgrade.
boot into your XP installation ROM CD. It is preferable that you slipstream it with the SP2 update package that can be found on Microsoft.

You will also need to update XP again after the install. but with a minimum of downloads.

I can't remember .. have you tried running memtest86 over a long period when you will not be needing your PC?

any advice you require please ask .. BEFORE you start .. we always willing to help out

I seem to be having a problem with the integardted video driver on my computer. Everytime I boot up I get an error stating "at least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter".

I have tried downloading drivers from both Dell and Intel and have had no luck. I have uninstalled the driver and tried reinstalling it and letting the system find them automatically, this is the error I get:

I have a Dell Studio 540 with Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 2. The machine itself has an Intel Core 2 quad CPU with 8 gig of ram.

I'm not sure how to make this work. I have downloaded registry cleaners and still cannot get things to work. Can anyone advise me what to do next? Thank you.

A:DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE BSOD after update windows(8.1)

HotSpotShield is known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems, please uninstall it.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

The dumps are suggestive of both your ESET program and the SoftEther VPN.
Uninstall both to test if that's the cause.
If it is, then install the latest, Win8.1 compatible version of one of them and test
Then install the latest, Win8.1 compatible version of the other and test again.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

My computer's been running Windows 10 for quite some time; however, I've had this issue since upgrading (and even before). When I attempt to update the Intel HD Graphics driver provided by HP support, I get the following error message: "Computer does not meet minimum requirements" The driver is downloaded from the HP support page for my laptop specifically (I let them identify the computer and verified the model in the computer info). There are a few options available, but when attempting to install any of them, I get the same error. My current driver is dated 8/24/2015 (which is getting too old to run certain graphics intensive software). All my other drivers are up-to-date, no problems there. Troubleshooting attempted:Update all other drivers (including BIOS)Scanned for malware (unlikely, but it's possible that coule have an effect)Downloaded each driver and attempted to install themRemoved the current graphics driver and attempted to install updated driverTried updating through the device manager and HP Support Assistant, both have determined the driver to be fully up-to-date (disregarding the driver that comes out that day). Any other thoughts or suggestions would be great, thanks for your help!

my problem is I can't update my graphics driver I currently have: Intel(R) HD Graphics. however this is a year old, I have installed Intel(R) Driver update utility. this displays a new driver called: Windows graphic driver for window 10, 8 and 7 [15.40] verison when I try to install this driver I get the error message: The driver being installed is not validated for this computer please obtain the appropriate driver. then directs me to the HP website to manually install the driver which I receive the same message again. it's sending me around in this loop, I require this driver for my games. I've tried messaging HP support on Twitter with no reply, I have also tried emailing and no reply. Intel support did get back to me telling me that the driver is for my model and that the manufacture is preventing it from installing and to contact them. this is my last place I can ask. does anybody know how I can fix this issue or how I can force install this driver onto my laptop as I'm stuck with a laptop I can't use.

However, once it was about finished I got the error: The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Once I saw this I figured I had the wrong thing selected. After double checking everything was the correct type I did it again and was given this same error. My system SKU is: E0K83UA#ABA.
