Wifi keeps disconnecting only on one laptop other laptop and phones stay connected

Q: Wifi keeps disconnecting only on one laptop other laptop and phones stay connected

My wifi connections goes off and on on my Hp laptop several times in an hours time. It stays off sometimes for two minutes and sometimes for 10 or more minutes. My other laptop and phone stay connected to the wifi. What do I need to do. I found this site thru anther forum and I went to their link they had in the forum and it took me to the InSSider Page of this site. I clicked on the download link for WIndows and it downloaded and installed on my computer and then just went back to that same page. I thought it was suppose to run a scan (analyzer) on my computer? So where and what do I need to do for it to run a scan on my computer to check the channels being used and possible interference with my wifi? Or if there is something else that I need to do to fix my wifi connection issue? Thanks in advance!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the infomation above those entries

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

HI all, I have a lenovo laptop that is almost exactly a year old and it WILL NOT stay connected to the internet neither by wifi nor LAN. It will connect sometimes for 10 mins, sometimes for ten seconds. I can turn the computer off, restart it, close all other programs, diagnose connection, disable and restart adapters, nothing works for very long. I dont believe it is the internet as my Xbox, my desktop and my phone all connect fine through both wireless and wired connections. There are also two other laptops on the house that connect just fine (not windows 7 machines tho) my desktop is also windows 7 and sporadically has this problem as well. I have tried going to barnes and noble and starbucks to try different internet and still the same thing happens. Very Frustrating, please help if you can

Using a linksys router, running XP on my laptop...

Before going to school my laptop connected fine to my router at home. Go to school, laptop connects fine to router in apartment (also a linksys). Come home and laptop will not stay connected to my router.

If I go under available wireless networks and try to connect, it tries to connect to router, says not connected, yet the internet will work for a couple minutes. Right now says signal strenght excellent, "not connected", in my tray the wireless connection is x'd out, but I'm browsing. This will work for 3-5 minutes, and then I won't be able to browse. I try to reconnect, and the same thing happens.

Just now, I ran the network setup wizard, tried to connect to home network blah blah, finished the wizard. It said I was connected, I could browse, I thought I had fixed it. But 5 minutes later, it says I'm not connected but could still browse, and then a couple minutes later it says I'm not connected and I'm unable to browse.

Have another laptop, exact same model and it connects flawlessly. Doesn't make any sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I hope I am I the right place, you guys helped before and fixed my problem, so I am back seeking advice again.

Here goes, I have a laptop Latitude c610. Windows XP. When I power it up some times it will connect to my wireless DSL connection, most of the time not. When it connects it will stay connected for about five maybe ten minutes and loses connection, says the connection can not be found. When it does find the connection it works great until it loses the connection, which is just a few minutes.

I have tried checking the setting by the desk top and they seem fine, I am at a total lose, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I've tried some of the solutions suggested on this site but have no found a solution. My laptop will not stay connected to my house wireless router. Other laptops and phones have no problem staying connected and my laptop stays connected when connected by a cable. It is so frustrating and I am desperate for a solution.

Sometimes it will stay connected for a little while but it eventually disconnects. Also it used to always disconnect anytime I would try to watch a youtube video. Sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect it will be good for a few minutes. It usually says "Identifying" or whatever when it disconnects. (Sorry for the running sentences and bad grammar within but I'm not good with technology vocabulary and I'm just trying to give you guys as much information as possible so I can get a solution to this)! Please help!!!

A:Laptop won't stay connected!

In order to know what wireless adapter is in the laptop, you need to mention the brand and model of the laptop. Some wifi chips are flakier than others.
Also what brand and model of router. Again some routers don't work as well with all computers as others do.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6636nr notebook that I got a year ago. Recently, it has started randomly not staying connected to the wireless internet. My desktop is connecting and staying connected just fine, and they both have the same programs on them as far as Zone Alarm and such. The only difference is that the laptop has Windows Vista and the desktop has XP, but I have no idea if that would make a difference here.

I can reboot or start up the laptop and it's connected just fine. I can browse pages for a couple of hours. If I leave it alone for several hours, that's where the problem starts. I go to open a website, and I get the whole "page cannot be displayed" thing. I tried uploading a photo while it was doing this via FTP to my webspace, and it uploaded, but when I view it, it's totally garbled, due to a messed connection, I assume? If I upload from my desktop, it's fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't really "get" the whole wireless internet settings thing (my boyfriend does all that, but he hasn't been able to find a reason why this is happening).

Should I post a Hijack This log?

A:Laptop Won't Stay Connected to the Internet

Some things you can try here.
For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.
Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

We have recently changed our Internet provider, and I find that although the Internet connects and works perfectly well on my (Android) tablet, it is constantly disconnecting on my laptop. I had no problems before with the previous provider. I've checked all the Internet and Network settings I can find but nothing looks like it needs to be changed. I've even checked the firewall. My laptop is about 7-8 years old. My partner has no problem with the connection on his laptop, it seems to be just mine.

I own only a PC, no laptop, so am not very familiar with Wi-Fi connections. I have been helping a non-computer-literate couple set up a Wi-Fi connection for a new Toshiba laptop they just bought (OS is Vista Home Premium). They have Verizon DSL and Verizon provided the router.

The problem is not that we can't get a connection. I set it up using the router number and everything seemed to work perfectly. But the connection is frequently dropped for no apparent reason. It can be connected for an hour (seldom more than that) with no problems, then the connection suddenly goes down. When you try to reconnect from the Systray icon, and pick "Diagnose connection problem" from the pop-up box, it says there's no signal from the router. Only way we've been able to restore the connection is to regen the router (turn off for 15-20 sec., then turn back on). Afterwards the connection again lasts for a while, then drops off.

We have tried moving the computer right next to the router to ensure no interfering structures, but is still randomly drops the connection. When it's connected, it always says it's a 5-bar (max strength) signal.

The evidence suggests that the culprit is the router, not the computer. But not being knowledgeable about Wi-Fi, I wanted some input from those who are re some setting in the computer that we don't have right.

I'm currently on my friends computer because my laptop won't stay connected for more than a few seconds. Once it disconnects I then attempt to troubleshoot it, half the time it resets and works for 30 seconds or so and the other half I restart the computer which sometimes temporarily fixes it. Hi all.
Until yesterday my internet was working fine. I have a laptop upstairs and a computer downstairs. The computer is directly connected to my Comcast internet and has a Linksys WRT54G router connected to it.

Now, my internet on the laptop has stopped working. It will briefly connect to my router and the internet will work but then it will just disconnect. It says (connected or not) that the signal strength is excellent. However, when it disconnects randomly, and then searches for available networks, it doesn't always find my router. And when it does, it won't connect or it'll take like 5 minutes, connect, work briefly, and then disconnect. And this whole time the internet on my main computer works perfectly well.

Can anyone help me figure out a solution to this? Thanks and if you need any additional info let me know.

Make sure you have the latest correct wireless driver (from the laptop manufacturer's web site if an integrated adapter).

If that doesn't fix the problem ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with a screen shot see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows Vista or latter I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Hey Damian, have you updated your wifi adapted driver recently?
If you already have the latest driver, a reinstall of the driver may be a good idea.
To do this, simply search "update drivers" in the start menu, this should bring up the same program as in the attached image

Any recommendations?

Hi,
I'm having trouble getting my laptop to stay connected to my wireless internet. This problem only occurs with my laptop (other laptops in the house are able to connect no problem) and with this particular wireless box (my laptop has no problems connecting and staying connected to other wireless networks, wi-fi, etc.).

I am able to connect to the wireless but it lasts only for a few minutes before connection is lost, so I basically have to connect to the internet through a ether cable (?) plugged into the wireless box.

I can't work out where the problem could be as the wireless works for other computers, and my computer works with other wireless networks!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if it matters but I am using a Toshiba satellite running on Windows 7. Thanks!

We recently got a Verizon Mifi 4510L (previously had an AT&T USB Connect 881). We had a problem with the mifi constantly "rebooting" itself (dropping off and then restarting). Verizon replaced the Sim card on the Mifi, and that seems to have resolved that problem. However, my laptop loses the wifi connection (red X on wifi symbol in bottom right corner) approximately 10 times per day. It won't reconnect; I have to reboot the computer (very time-consuming to save what I'm doing, shut all the programs, reboot, restart the programs, etc.). My SysInfo is pasted below. The laptop is a Dell Latitude D620. I have installed the Windows updates and updated the firmware for the Mifi. I might add that our iPad and my husband's Acer netbook (with Windows XP) have no problem staying connected. And my laptop had no problem staying connected to the AT&T air card we had prior to this. I'm wondering if there is some setting that is conflicting or if my internal laptop wifi card is going bad (except I think that would be an all-or-nothing situation; in other words, it would work or it wouldn't and it wouldn't be an intermittent thing). Please help me if you can because I do medical transcription, and it's getting very frustrating having to reboot my computer all the time.

I just bought a brand new Dell laptop (Inspiron 3520) with Windows 8 and it won't stay connected to the internet. It will be fine, but then after a while it will stop connecting and I have to reconnect. When it does this, sometimes it will say "limited connectivity" but usually it appears normal, even when I go in and disconnect and reconnect; usually the only reason I know there's a problem is because nothing will load. After I reconnect, everything resumes as normal until it disconnects again.

I know it isn't an issue with the modem or provider because it has done this on multiple connections in multiple places.

Hello,
I feel as if I have 2 separate wireless problems.

1)
Since about 2-3 days ago, my laptop wouldn't stay connected to wireless once I put the laptop on standby. I have to connect to it each time I open my laptop. This has never happened before so I feel like something went wrong.

2)
My wireless won't connect to any other connections other than my home. I went on a ski trip recently, and while my wireless worked on my iphone and ipad, my laptop wasn't able to connect to it. I feel like this laptop has a lot of weird configuration problems. It also won't connect to my home network unless SSID is disabled. So this brings up the question, will my laptop never be able to connect to any network that has SSID enabled? This is really weird and frustrating because my laptop used to be able to connect to my home router fine while its SSID was enabled. I don't get what happened to it. This is troublesome because that means that I will never be able to use wireless anywhere else other than my home.

Can someone help me if there is anything wrong with my settings regarding wireless? Does anything seem abnormal?

Reinstalling the driver for the Intel 6300AGN would be my first option.

Other than that I would suspect that which ever Anti Virus software is installed may be causing this problem.

Hello everyone, I'm really frustrated with the connectivity of my laptop here at home. It works perfectly everywhere else I go but here at home it won't stay connected to my wireless network and when I DO connect it rarely works. I tried a few things that I have read in some other threads but they didn't work so I changed it all back to the way it was and thought it would be best to start over. Thanks in advance for the help.

I need help with my dell inspiron 1011. It's the Nickelodeon edition.

These are screenshots of the connections. I'm sorry, I'm not good at explaining what exactly I mean.
And I messed up, I didn't click, I just hovered over it. Sorry, got my words mixed up.

It's saying it's connected. And I AM for maybe 20 seconds then it stops. I know it's not the router because my friend/neighbor connected to it without a problem and my laptop worked on it perfectly 2 or so months ago. I've checked to make sure everything is up to date on it, and it is. It even says that the wireless card is working properly. We have a Belkin N 150 Wireless Router. But we used wired connections for everything except our laptop and the neighbors(by the way, she only just connected to it last night because we wanted to see if it was indeed the laptop or router and since hers worked, we think it's the laptop.) If you need any more information please let me know because I'm not sure what else to give you.

I already posted this in the 'General Help' forum but I wasn't sure if it belonged here.

I know it's an issue with my laptop because every other device works fine on the network. When it does manage to stay connected (for a short time) my speeds are terrible. I get about 4 down and 5 up. My other wifi devices get between 12-20 upload and 15-25 download. When I connect via ethernet I get about 100-130 down and 15 up.

This is beyond frustrating, especially when you're trying to research a paper or do online homework.

I sense there is something going on between my wireless driver and the router but I don't know what to do.

EDIT: Here are the errors:

1) "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken."
2) "The default gateway is not available"

I have had my new laptop for about three weeks and everything has been running perfectly on it. I downloaded 1/20th of what I had on my old HP laptop. All of a sudden, we came home from the cottage one day and my laptop would no longer stay connected to the wifi. I have turned my laptop on and off multiple times and nothing is fixing the issue. Thinking it was the wifi connection, I deleted it only to have it not even be able to connect to that connection anymore. This laptop is brand new and I would hate to have to send it back because I got such a great deal on it, and everything I wanted came with this laptop.  If I can't find the solution, I am going to be forced to send it back and get a different brand computer.  Is there anyone who is having the same issues as me?? Thank you, Jill

For a few days now, my laptop keeps randomly disconnecting from the wifi. The wifi is fine -- it still works on other devices -- and is still available with full bars but refuses to reconnect unless I restart my laptop, at which point it'll be connected and working fine again (until the the next time).
I've tried updating the wireless adapter drivers and turning off WiFi Sense but no dice.

I hope someone can help me with this. I work from home (office is 70 miles away), and my Lenovo T420 Win7 will not stay connected via WiFi to my Verizon MI424WR ver I router. I had this problem with my old router (MI242WR rev E), and I was able to fix it by turning off the Power Management option to "power off to save power" My Lenovo is using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wifi chip. It reads as "working properly".

It seem obvious that there is an issue between the Lenovo and the new MI424. I have 10 other devices connecting to the MI424 without a problem. I have shut down devices to ensure that their is not an over burdening the AP issue.

Specifically, the Lenovo successfully pairs with the MI424, tries to establish an Internet connection, fails, and drops the connection (or the router does - I assume it is the laptop.) It's worked great for about 4 hours this am, then it quit working. I:

- shutdown the laptop, pulled power and battery
- shut off the network, pulled the plug and let it sit for a while
- restarted everything and the issue will not go away

It works fine @ work with a Cisco Network.

My company uses some McAfee SW for laptop security. Since I was blissfully working for hours and this just started up, I do not think that has anything to do with it. But who knows? Any ideas?

A:Work Lenovo Laptop will not stay connected on my Home Network

OK, I just thought of something. The problem started at the same time I powered up my wife's new iPad4. So, after turning off the iPad 4, I was able to log on. Since I completely bounced the network (unplugged and left unplugged the MI242WR), I would think that would release all the IP addresses in the router. I am back to work, and afraid to turn the iPad back on.

I've had this new laptop for about two weeks now and I originally was able to connect to my wifi and stay connected. With no changes to the router or laptop (it's still in default factory settings), my wireless connection has been disconnecting for about three days and I am unable to connect back. I get Microsoft's default "Can't connect to this network" message. When I connect my laptop to the router via an ethernet cable, I am able to access the internet.

In order to connect back to the internet wirelessly, I have to reset my router and my laptop will connect, only to disconnect half an hour to an hour later.

All my other wifi devices connect fine, including an older model Asus laptop. I've tried connecting to wifi at other people's houses and public wifi hotspots and they all work fine. As soon as I come home though, connection is out again.
